I’ve worked with Duggal on my first Art portfolio back in my 20’s, my budget was very small compared to the professionals they handle. Yet, they treated me extremely well. The work they did was stunning. It was some thing I never forgot. Now, 30 years later having a piece done as a housewarming gift… Zulema or, Z. as she likes to be called, gave me the same service I had 30 years ago. She was kind, relatable, impeccable. We worked on the pricing and with a selection of archival quality papers. She took her time to get the image right. She talked to me not just as a client but as an artist. I would not hesitate to do any work with Duggal again. She and the rest of the staff that I met, made me feel like I gained access to an art department. Everyone in passing gave their ideas to make my grainy little image into a large stunning art print. A great experience!

Duggal has done excellent work for me for many years. Zulema Morin, who has always helped me, has been a joy to deal with at every point. She has helped and advised me in the restoration of an entire archive of historical family photos. The results of her work and advice have been excellent, and the restored photos, all framed in our home, bring me and my family great joy and satisfaction.

I am not a professional photographer. I used their services twice. The first time to print some safari pictures. The prints turned out really well. The second time to print a large portrait for a memorial. Jeff Frankle was absolutely amazing. He took time to advise me. The quality of my scan was not great and I did not have the original picture anymore. Jeff reprinted the picture after I managed to have it photoshopped. He was kind, professional and it made a big impression on me.

Zulema (Zee) Morin was amazing to work with. The follow through was fantastic along with her attention to detail. This was an unusual request from one of our VIP Clients and I hope they continue with the purchase as I suspect they will. Working for a Global Luxury Concierge service, it's very gratifying when one finds a representative who understands and offers quality service along with their bespoke product. I've used the services of Duggal Visual Solutions for over 20 yrs. I highly recommend them!! The images they produce are all top notch. The production guys- Misha, Hardy and others are very professional perfectionists. I've never had a poor job not once in all these yrs! And the customer service personnel, Zulema Morin, Richard Rogers are so kind and helpful! I love working with all at Duggal!!

I never write reviews. But if I could give 10 stars, I would. The process was professional from start to finish. Richard was wonderful - efficient, courteous, knowledgeable, etc. I needed a picture enlarged and placed on a foam board. Everything was done in a timely manner - exactly when they said it would be completed. Even the packaging of my original picture and the enlargement was perfect. Thank you.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Duggal; Jeff Frankle the printer I deal with at Duggal has a fine touch to understanding my needs. Communication is clear, and rush jobs seem to be no problem. Highly recommended !

I went to Duggal Visual Solutions to print and bind my portfolio. Working with Laurene was such a pleasure. Even though we had to go back and forth to finalize the file, she was super patient with me and walked me every single step through. I would definitely recommend this place to others!

Update: despite the issues I encountered years ago they fully refunded me well past the transaction date. For their courtesy I raise my score to 4 stars. Original review: Duggal did not produce to requirements. Product was to be bound along the short edge but they bound it along the long edge, ruining the design and making it harder to read. Colors were also too dark in areas. Ruined my portfolio so I had to get it reprinted elsewhere. A slimy employee also tried to rip me off by charging me without the discount when another employee temporarily left the room, although this was immediately corrected on her return. Would not recommend. (Update: this was years ago and things may have changed; also note the update above.)

UPDATE: About a week after this review went live, I received a call from Duggal Visual Solutions apologizing for the issues that I had and they offered me a discount on my next purchase (I don't recall the amount - it was around 20-25%). I told them that I was not going to change my review so no need for the discount, they said "no problem, we don't expect you to. Please take the discount with our compliments" I gave the person my e-mail address and he said he would send it to me. To date, I haven't received the discount e-mail........ They definitely have my e-mail address because I gave it to them during the customer service call and prior to that, they e-mailed me proofs of my pictures when I was getting them processed. ____________________________________________________________________________________ We were looking for a professional studio to blow-up and frame 2 photos I took while on vacation. The hubby did some research and came up with Duggal. We trekked down to Chelsea to see what they could do with our pictures. Jim was the sales person who helped us and he was great. He color corrected the photos and made great suggestions as to how we should display our pics. The prices weren't terrible either. We picked up our pictures a week later only to find out, once we were home, that our big picture (the length of our couch) didn't have the mounting on the back of it. The hubby took it back downtown to have the mounting put on it. I was told it would be ready in a few days. I received a lovely e-mail from Jim apologizing for the mishap and he offered to have the picture messengered to us the next day. A day went by, no picture. I figured it would come the next day. A week went by and I reached out to Duggal to find out what happened to our picture. Some sort of internal issue prevented our picture from making its way uptown. I received a very nice call from the manager apologizing and we received our picture the next day. We had a few bumps in the road, but all in all it was a pretty decent experience.

I have worked with this shop for years. Good quality, but a bit pricey at times. Try to find a main customer rep to avoid any back & forth.

Great experience with my first time at Duggal. I walked in with several questions and 'Z' was very helpful and knowledgeable. They did what I asked for and even made a minor adjustment for me afterwards. Very good customer service--highly recommend!

I have been coming to Duggal to get my photography developed, printed, mounted, since 1987 when they were downtown on Broadway. No body in all of New York does it better. Always had a high quality and helpful experience. Would never go anywhere else. Recently J.R. who has been there since then too!! helped me to get exactly what I wanted done and even got it done faster than I thought was possible. You know when the same employee has been there for 30 years that they are doing something right!

Awesome. Spent 3 hours there yesterday- have never received such personal attention and design advice- Hardy was great- he literally spent all afternoon with me. I gave him photos of my apartment and he photoshopped different sizes and options of what my prints would look like on my walls. Who does that? They are open on Sundays (huge). The shop is gorgeous-it's an enormous studio and they do everything on site. Difference with Adorama is that it's all automated by the customer on the computer (same is if you uploaded at home and ordered them that way) and they don't really offer personal attention, and get annoyed when you ask too many questions (I am a question asker). If you need b/w or color prints 8x10 and under, I'd stick with Adorama they are fine and have 5 paper choices (I like the Kodak Matte for b/w). They are also affordable for small prints. BUT Duggal has many more printing options than Adorama (ie: Adorama only prints glossy stretched canvas (gross) and doesn't have water color paper and their large format options aren't that broad. Also Duggal will work with your files to color correct them (if needed) and they do print tests as well. AND they mount prints as well- (ie: gatorboard, museum board, sintra, plexiglass, aluminum, just a few) which at 30 x40 and above- I need someone to do that and psyched i can have that done all at one place. Very pleased with Duggal- you should totally check them out if you need large format of need fine art design style printing. Not cheap- but you pay for what you want, right?

Hi! I never ever write reviews, but I signed up for Yelp and everything because I was inspired from my amazing experience at Duggal. This place is outstanding! The staff is super professional and approachable. Joseph was an amazing help and really cool to work with. The photos I had printed are fantastic. And the custom sized photos we created are also amazing. I am blown away at the color saturation and quality of the prints. Thank you, Duggal, for such a rewarding experience!!

Beautiful print, extraordinary service, and delightful people I've worked with for years. Highly, highly recommend. Great for film processing as well as digital photography.

Dropped slides off for a few simple prints. Was told that they would be ready in 2-3 days. When I stoped by 20 days later, the prints had not yet been made. Hullabaloo and apologies - promise to have them ready in 5 hours. I explained that I live 3+ hours away and - after 20 days(!) - I would rather wait on site so they could get the prints ready for me. Another hullabaloo - and a promise that it would be done in 1 hour. I agreed to wait. After 1 3/4 hours had passed, I suggested that the delay was probably because I am just a small, amateur client and not a famous photographer. To this the receptionist sniggered - it was very clear that I had hit the nail in the head. After another 15 minutes of hullabaloo I finally got my prints and originals. Needless to say, I won't be giving any future work to Duggal. Amateur or not, this type of inconsiderate treatment is totally unacceptable.

The best things about Duggal are its quick turnaround, relatively well-priced basic services ($7 to process 120 film) and that they're open until midnight. On the other hand, other services (such as scanning on to a DVD) are ridiculously expensive, customer service is lacking and every once in a while, images on my 120 roll film get cut off. I'd like to find another, friendlier lab with convenient hours for me, but for now, this place will do.

35 years ago Duggal took 2 rolls of my film to print. When I went to pick up that said"Sorry, guy put them in wrong solution".Only offered 2 rolls of replacement film. Have never gone back. Today finally decided to give them another chance. Looked on line for address & hrs. Carried over heavy book I needed to be scanned & guess what , they had moved out. I GIVE UP! Once a creep always a creep.

Went to Duggal for help with an experimental project I was doing for a Physical Computing class at Hunter College IMA MFA and Jr Martin was very attentive as he walked me through various possibilities. I ordered a Duraclear print and actually received 3 beautiful prints allowing me to do even more experimenting! Thanks to Duggal and to Jr., I'll be back for my next project!

When you need the very best, you need Duggal. They're not going to be the cheapest (or not often), but quality matters more. Your art or your grandma's photo, either one is worth the professional attention you'll get here. Think about something usual. You need that photo printed on metal? They can do it. If you're interested in fine art photography, I guarantee that you've seen printing they did in a gallery show. Each time I've used Duggal, I've been delighted. Some of the reviews mention customer service. If you're looking for a smile and maybe a bit of quick humor--and excellent professional expertise--ask for Hardy. While I've never had bad service, he's the best.

So when I was in the market for a cool new piece of art for kitchen - an esteemed colleague of mine immediately recommended Duggal Visual Solutions. This business is awesome - it essentially can handle any digital printing project that you might ever need, no matter how large or how small. As I was peering through their extensive selections while also having a very Pop-Art piece in mind (think Warhol) - DVS delivered me the goods. My kitchen is now adorned with this awesome piece of artwork which essentially displays a young guy with a crazy-bright colored background with the phrase "Oi, Tudo Bem" on it. I've yet to give this piece of art a name - but when I do, a review update will probably be written because this place of business really gets the job done and keeps their prices right. I had requested donations of print for my big fundraiser event for about 100 guests on behalf of Women for Women International - a nonprofit that serves women in conflict zones. Heather responded immediately to my request and was extremely generous to donate four 20 by 30 prints of the organization's work in South Sudan, KRI, Kosovo and Rwanda. I am very grateful for her donations to the charity without which the event would not have been a success!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Richard Rogers and can honestly say that I was 100% satisfied with the entire process from start to finish. Richard was extremely helpful and made some great suggestions as to how my enlargement could be improved. Duggal met their promised completion date and I now have a most gorgeous reminder of a recent vacation.

I had a great experience at Duggal. Normally, I do not expect good customer service and feel we are all too eager to write about the poor service we receive. I think that in this age when most services are purchased online, it is important to recognize those who still deal directly with the public, and do it well. I needed to have an old family photo cropped and then enlarged. I wasn't sure what the turn around time was, nor the cost. Brian Renaldo assisted me. He was amazing, friendly and reassuring. I informed him of my need to have this done quickly and he did his best to get it done. He informed me that due to the size, age and condition of the original ( I did not have a negative nor an electronic file ), the quality would not be as good. He showed me exactly what to expect so I wouldn't be disappointed. My photo was done on time as promised, (in fact a day earlier) and it looked great. I would not hesitate to recommend Brian at Duggal to anyone in need of their services. Their extended business hours are also a huge plus!

Duggal is an outstanding company! Special thanks to Peter Gravina! he is an excellent representative of the company. I needed to do an extensive project for my company involving so many details and phases he managed to be on top of everything since I walked in day 1. Responsive, very detail oriented, spent all the time you need to walk out happy and confident about the results. My supervisors and everyone in the department are very impressed with the professional results. he works very hard for you to have the best result. He is very nice, attentive, committed, professional and very responsive and problem solver if any concern arise. I definitely will be going back for another project, they are the best after trying other sites.

If you want professional quality, go to Duggal. Not only the best quality prints, options, and turnaround (for digital and film) - their staff are what truly set them apart. From front of house, to their printers, and corporate level - these guys make you feel like you're part of the team, and they do it with a professional standard of service that I haven't experienced anywhere else. I work closely with Felicia, Hardy, and Mischa. These guys are my team. I won't be going anywhere else as long as they're around.

My husband and I went to the 23rd Street location and had a very pleasant time with Mrs Zulema Morin. Her advise, guidance and the personable service were greatly appreciated. The prints came out terrific too. Better than expected all around!

The product was good, the customer service was horrific. I needed a rushed print job of a large drawing (5' x 7'). After considerable problems (see below), they eventually printed and delivered the piece. It looked great and the delivery to the framer was done without problems and at a reasonable price. The product was done professionally. Couldn't expect more. However the effort to get that product was something I don't want to repeat. My phone calls were consistently left unanswered. People rarely called me back. I received different quotes from different sales reps. When it came to billing they switched cards somehow and billed some random person's card. I requested an invoice and never got one. The mix up was only discovered when the third party's card complained about the inexplicable charge. They called and I gave them my card for the second time and they billed the wrong one again. I again called back a week later asking about an invoice. Once it came I found it had charged some random card again. Two months after the printing they still haven't solved the billing. In short, great product, terrible service. Beware.

I went in with high hopes but left completely ripped off. Since I got my first DSLR nearly 10 years ago, I've built a collection of almost 100,000 pictures but perpetually delayed printing larger than the 13"x19" that my home photo printer allows due to the time and expense needed to create big prints, and because I wanted to get mine right so I can be happy with them for a long time, possibly the rest of my life. In 2016 I finally decided to tackle this project, spending some time learning Photoshop and setting aside a budget to fill my home with large prints of my work. I understood that Duggal is priced higher than its competitors but I wanted to get the work done right so I went in and talked to them, planning to test the water with one print before sending in the rest. The sales rep was initially helpful, giving me samples of the various paper types and letting me know that for the 30"x40" job I was ordering, I would be eligible for a test print/strip to make sure the colors, etc. look correct. I went home with the paper samples and after making a decision, went back with my image. Things went downhill from here. I met with the same sales rep who now seemed significantly more interested in his cell phone than in working on my order. I'm very sympathetic to people having personal issues to deal with so I sat patiently; unfortunately this was a indication of bigger problems that were yet to come. Eventually he told me that the job should go straight to final print without any testing or reviewing. It seemed a little odd to me since my home computer isn't calibrated to their printers, but I've never done this kind of job before and they're the professionals, so who am I to argue? I asked a basic question about the matting process since I'm unfamiliar with it, but he gave me a vague non-answer and seemed completely uninterested in helping me understand. That or he himself didn't know the basics of the process. After completion of the printing, I saw that the colors were a little off from what I expected. They were close enough that I could live with them so I didn't complaint or ask for a reprint - but it would have been nice to have the test before going to final print so that it could be exactly to my liking. The bigger problem though was that there was a very noticeable white streak in the middle of a dark section of the image that was not in my digital file. It looked like the printer may have failed to apply ink in this section, or some dust interfered with the application of ink, and it was sufficiently noticeable to be a problem that I could not live with. I reached out to the sales rep and was ignored. He finally responded to a second email, acknowledging the problem and indicating that I should bring the print back for them to take a look. I sent a follow up to coordinate with his schedule; this was ignored, together with fourth and fifth attempts on my part to get an answer. I waited patiently over the holidays just in case he had been out of office, but we're now well into the new year and I never heard back so at this point there's just no excuse. Ignoring me when there was a problem is disrespectful and unprofessional, and I just wish I had seen the signs from the beginning instead of wasting my time with Duggal. I'm now having to work with another company to get the print done correctly, as well as with my credit card issuer to dispute the charge. Hopefully readers of this review can learn from my experience -- I certainly won't be giving any more business to Duggal.

I was at your 23rd street store today. I had to get a print made for donation to a Wildlife Organization for their annual fundraising auction. I had intended to make a 48 by 36 inch print. It turns out that my original raw file was somehow corrupted and therefore could not be used. Omar Columbus and Hardy Rosenstein came to my rescue and literally saved me from having a near heart attack. They explained that I could get a smaller print from my surviving jpeg of the same image. Omar took a lot of time to show me all the possible printing options including sizing and finishes. Hardy ran to get me coffee to make sure that I didn't collapse after hearing the bad news concerning my only raw file. They both took the time to try a variety of strategies to possibly retrieve the original file. Additionally, I showed both gentlemen new images I had just shot in Iceland and they enthusiastically showed me a stunning variety of options they could offer for my final prints. I will be ordering those prints, including light boxes within the next month and hope to sell many of them. Additionally, Omar encouraged me to join "Your ArtGallery.com", which I intend to do. I had to write to you to let you know that if I had gone anywhere else I would have been very disappointed and not been able to have my work displayed on a world stage. Both Omar and Hardy were very understanding and extremely professional and patient. They truly are the face of your company. I cannot imagine getting this news anywhere else. They came up with a wonderful solution in spite of the corrupted original files. I wanted to let you know how important it is for customers like me to have competent and professional sales associates to help find alternative solutions to near disastrous situations. The only reason I go is because its within walking distance (and its really accessible by public transportation. ) The prices are alright. Customer Service and the front desk are incredibly rude. I don't care if you're working 12 hr shifts (many jobs are like this), but they are consistently rude. CONSISTENTLY. Not one time have I gone in and left feeling good. Do they treat anyone nicely? I even had one of the front desk personnel mock me, telling me I should have a sense of humor and that I obviously wouldn't understand her because I obviously didn't have such a long day like she did and that I should lighten up. All I could do was stare at her in disbelief. I would've confronted her on the spot, but I have a feeling management has allowed this behavior and wouldn't care, and that they would probably mess up my film. Do they even treat their big clients nicely?

Obviously the standard of quality is very high. Overall, Hardy from customer service provided a great service experience and proved himself to be very helpful . After an upsetting bump in the road during the first printing , Hardy went the extra mile to make sure I left satisfied . He stayed late to correct editing and even had two new versions printed so that I could pick my favorite !

I came to Duggal recently following my photographic mentor and friend, Zee Morin. As soon as she introduced me to many of the people at Duggal, I knew that I had found a new creative home. Because of Zee, I became a photographer on Your Art Gallery, the terrific collaboration between YAG and Duggal that allows photographers to showcase their work and gives them a very fair percentage of their price. And I've already sold off the site! How great is that! I also am eager to learn of the myriad of photographic choices available at Duggal, that Zee, with her consummate attention to her clients' needs and interests, will help me explore. Susi Raphael

Usch, wish I had read the reviews on hear before using Duggal. I usually use the less expensive Sunshine Labs, but I had a series of medium format film I shot in which the frames bleed into each other, and I needed low res scans after developing. I called to see if this was something they could do. Absolutely said the woman on the phone. I went in to drop off the film. The guy rings me up for processing and low res scans on 8 rolls of film: nearly $300. Yikes! He's ready to run my card, buy I ask him if he could run through the receipt and explain where the costs are coming from. Oh oops, he made a mistake when ringing me up... now it's down to around $200. Still *way* more than I would pay at my usual lab, but what the heck, this is a custom job. Several days later, I get a phone call. They tell me sorry, we can't do the scans because the frames bleed into each other. Ugh, that was EXACTLY what I had called and asked about. The only reason I came to your lab is because I thought you could do that. Whatever... I'm on the road. I tell him I'll pick up the scans when I get in and find another lab that can do this for me. In the meantime, I ask them to refund me the charges for the scanning. He tells me that no, they can't do it, I need to bring in the original receipt and credit card. What a disaster. You'd think that in an era when less and less photographers are shooting film, they'd try to have some good customer service to retain their dwindling customers. Not these guys though. Go down the street to Sunshine Color Lab instead. They may not have the beautiful prints on their wall and giant impressive lab like Duggal, but at least they will be honest about what they can do, and won't charge you an arm and a leg.

This is one of the worst labs I have ever used. The company I work for regularly uses them and they are consistently one-uping themselves on the low lows that they reach in terms of customer service, meeting the deadlines that we need them to, and charging us the correct amount. I think that we use them at this point only because they offer some antiquated services that you cannot find at other labs. I just got forwarded and hung up on after asking about an order that was due this morning that has yet to arrive (it's now 5pm). When I called back I got the answering machine. I just got an order back yesterday that was supposed to arrive 2 days prior and it was charged the same rush charges that would only be warranted if they were delivered on time. And, on top of all of these problems, for color work they are always a few points off of correct. Please steer clear.

Duggal did all of the printing for our big gala-over 200 attendees. Not only were the results AMAZING, but the Duggal team was a pleasure to work with throughout the process! The people at Duggal are the highest of quality talent. In a world where cheap fast and not so wonderful photo prints have become the industry standard It is refreshing to see there is a place where quality is king. You won't get bargain basement prices but this a place where I wouldn't expect to. I have worked with Hardy for a very long tim, even before he was at Duggal. He maintains a high level of customer contact and personal service. This is another special quality of Duggals service. Don't expect fast and furious but you will be pleased with the outcome.

I don't even want to give them one star. They deserve nothing. I have two images for them to print and mount. They trim my print without asking, and the mounting is ridiculous, like some carpentry homework done by a 10 years old kid. Sloppy, lousy, unprofessional. As an artist I am embarrassed to show these works to my gallery and collectors. I wish I can show their sloppy work with images here at Yelp. Don't go to Duggal if you care about your art work, because they don't.

In all honesty when a company tries to do right, i should be fair enough to report this. Duggal contacted me and noted that they have after my review made sure personnel is instructed to be aware of their attitude. They also offered me a discount in an effort to make right the fact that i wasnt able to attend the delivery to my client. I accepted their offer and thanked them for their positive actions.

Had a bad experience at first, but the customer service manager was able to solve everything and was very kind. The quality of the work at Duggal is exceptional, I was only displeased with the experience I had with someone who worked there. But after working with Ryan Speth (customer service manager) I was completely satisfied. Will be back.

Very slow and careless service ! If I knew that it will take 5 days to print my photos ( while thousands of places do it on the spot ) I would never waist my time waiting in line for 20 minutes and then look for someone to help another 20 minutes . For a pick up its a whole different story. If you come at 5.45 and it was scheduled for 6 don't expect it to be ready . And the best thing about this wonderful service was the astronomic price ! I didn't do the research in advance and had no idea, that pricing of this place is at least 3 times more than any other local print

Meh. This place does really cool framing and mounting that not a lot of other places do, if you want to splurge and get something expensive and cool. It's not for day-to-day lab stuff like printing and scanning. I had an 11x14" print mounted on plexi for a gift and it ended up being over $200 (even though they told me it would be more like $150). It was an expensive gift! Just the print was fifty bucks, that's kind of a lot of a single print, you know? Seems to me that they're focusing on big-money jobs and really neat forms of presentation. If you come in with an expense account, needing some really cool giant prints made and mounted or framed, they'll treat you nice :) If you're a student or a working photographer looking to get day-to-day jobs done, I'd go to Vista/CRC. Jesus is the man there. He'll hook you up.

I was amazed by the excellent customer service of Duggal Visual Solutions. Emails were answered promptly even on off hours and the patience of the different team members was remarkable. Very encouraging experience when the situation calls for online work. Thank you Duggal.

Still my top go to place for anything related to high quality film services. Have worked with them over decades now, and some things have actually improved. Other things obviously are adjusting to the market. Pricing is a bit of a challenge, as likely fewer and fewer people shoot film. But still a very high quality place. Hope they will never stop servicing film. They are quite good at it.

I brought in my 20+ year old transparency film (I think "chrome" is the more appropriate term) to be developed. I had high hopes based on other reviews, however, Hardy and the Duggal team far surpassed my expectations. Within 3 days I had a stunning color corrected, framed photo, which now hangs beautifully in my home. I am so grateful to Hardy for his care, expertise, and guidance. I was preparing for an event, which included responsibility for decorations, when I realized that the perfect addition to my set up would be a cool pic on the wall. While talking it through with a friend and disclosing my lazy ways. She mentioned her experience with Duggal...."just send them the pic and they can ship the canvas to you". Just my type of effort level. The picture arrived fairy quickly and I'll be honest....I didn't even open it for a few days since I didn't really need it immediately and was caught up with life. So when a new package from Duggal arrived a few days later I was surprised - to say the least. Upon opening it, I realized that I had been shipped the wrong canvas originally, but Duggal realized on their end and quickly rectified the situation. All without me doing a thing. Now that's how I like to do business. The canvas was great quality and I'm looking forward to hanging it up. Thanks Duggal!

I'm loyal to Duggal because they're committed to getting me the product I want--after a printing mix up, they not only remedied the problem within hours, but sent me additional prints at no extra cost. A special shout out to Hardy Rosenstein for being a professional and helpful contact. They are a great team that do lovely work.

If you expect a professional grade service, you'd better go elsewhere. Absolutely awful prints, accompanied by terrible service. Twelve rolls of film (both pro Kodak and Fuji, color and B&W) all of them badly developed, horribly printed, and scanned in low res Jpeg when I asked for high quality scans. No apologies, no refund, and it wasn't cheap to begin with. I'm OK to pay for a quality service, but that's exactly what's missing : quality. I am appalled to see that people like that can still be in business.

This dinosaur of a lab screwed me through complete incompetence. I had them do thirty drum scans of 2-1/4 negatives for an art project. This was extremely expensive; I chose Dugal based on their (old) reputation and the fact that I had grant money to pay for this. The drum scans were completely unuseable. Even though I asked for flat scans with no clipping, they were outrageously high contrast and oversaturated. I ran some side-by-side tests and found that my work scans, done on my old Epson desktop scanner, were better. I ended up printing a whole show from Epson scans, thanks to Dugal. To Dugal's credit, when I noticed the problem and complained, the salesperson was willing to work with me in some capacity. But I had no time to go back and deal with them, and at this point had no reason to believe their scanner operators knew how to work the equipment. Edited to add: I've upped to two stars based the professional opinion of several of my colleagues. They say that while yeah, service is bad, if you need gargantuan prints of the digital c-print or UV print variety, this is probably the best place in town.
