This was the hotel Viking Cruises chose for its Normandy D-Day extension tour. We transferred from our tour bus into small taxis to get to the hotel because central Bruge is a cobblestone pedestrian zone except for taxis and delivery vans. It is a short walk from the little side street where the hotel is located to the main square. The rooms were modern but as a solo traveler, I was assigned the small room 515 opposite the elevator. It had a dark unlit little cubbyhole next the door which I presume must be for luggage, but it could only hold a small backpack. No luggage rack. I put my bag on a round table near the window overlooking the inner garden. King bed was nice. The micro bathroom was dark and smaller than the one on the Viking Radgrid cruise ship. Sitting on the toilet required opening the shower stall door to make room for knees and feet. |The hotel’s main floor has two living room areas with big comfy chairs, a dining room and down one hallway is the breakfast room. On entering you could choose a glass of sparkling wine from chilled bottles. There was a selection of cold foods plus three hot choices and coffee was brought to the table in a small pot. |A pleasant two-night stay but nothing ‘palatial’.

An excellent venue, in the heart of Bruges, with outstanding comfort, service and quality. We could not fault this venue. We enjoyed the Residences, apartments adjacent to the main hotel, but with all the services/benefits of the hotel. Staff helped us with several matters, and had an impressive service culture.

Stayed four nights in this hotel as part of a pre-cruise extension and was very happy with the accommodations. Everything seemed a little dated, but it in fact a historical building. Front desk service was excellent. The location was phenomenal for us who walked everywhere. Breakfast buffet was included and was excellent, but memorable mostly because it featured champagne and three types of Belgian chocolate in blocks. LOL.

We loved, loved, LOVED our stay and time in Duke’s Palace Residence. Our room was impeccably clean, tidy and neat. I would say the furniture and bathroom could do with a bit of a face lift and modernising but it didn’t affect our stay. It was a stones throw to the hotel where we could enjoy all the facilities. We enjoyed lunch in the hotel bar every day and drinks in the evening. The food is absolutely delicious and the drinks are fab. Every single member of the staff from the reception, right through to the bar staff are so warm, friendly, helpful and excellent at their jobs. Their interactions with us felt genuine and not put on, forced or over the top like in some hotels. The hotel itself is an absolutely beautiful building and I could just stand outside looking at it for hours! The location is absolutely amazing and everything is within a very short walking distance. We cannot wait to come back. Thank you.

The best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff is friendly, polite and charming. The food is over the top delicious for both the breakfast (champagne plus every imaginable brunch/breakfast item) and the restaurant. The gardens are beautiful. The location is perfect. The hotel itself is a living museum kept up to the most impeccable standards. Three days of pure bliss.

We stayed in Dukes Apartments; so central yet surprisingly tranquil. Our room wasn’t ready so we were given complimentary drinks at the bar whilst we waited and the charming receptionist gave 3 soft bunnies to my thrilled daughters. The apartment was well appointed, spacious and comfy.

The Dukes Palace is a wonderful oasis in the heart of charming Bruges. We stayed in a large room facing the tranquil courtyard. The restaurant and bar is absolutely first class. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend staying here.

Prime location and quiet. But A/C remote was locked on the highest and noisiest fan speed and the personnel wasn't able to change it either, so a partially sleepless night. |The bathroom has a jacuzzi but not looking very clean and the water pressure on the hand shower was abysmal. Amenities were fine as was the floor heating. |At 11:20 the cleaners banged at the door to remind me checkout was at 11:00, then the reception called 2 min later. |At the checkout they offered to waive my parking costs. When I told them I had parked nearby for half their price, they didn't offer any other apology. A 5* hotel with a 2* attitude
