We have become so conditioned to our masks in New Mexico that to be greeted by unmasked restaurant staff at our first stop in Utah was jarring. More disconcerting was being advised that to use the outside tables behind the main dining room, we would have to make a to-go order because the dining room could not serve the exterior seating.
Having the option between access to the bathrooms for handwashing and waiting outside to order by phone, pick up our food, and then eating it outside, we opted to risk unmasking and eat at the carefully distanced tables.
The staff was professional and friendly, and the dining room immaculately clean. Raz ordered the ribeye, and I chose the New York strip. His medium and my medium-rare were perfect examples of the specifications. The meat itself was not quite tender, however, and we were pretty sure that not even salt and pepper were added for spice before grilling, so we applied these liberally at the eating.
The portions were sizable, and my side-salad was one of the best I've ever had at a steakhouse. The mixed greens were flavorful, the tiny tomatoes sweet and crisp, and the sprinkling of finely grated cheese just the right touch of sharpness. Raz's Cowboy Stew was truly excellent beef and vegetable stew, and my mashed potatoes were wonderfully seasoned with butter and herbs, needing no gravy. The final bit of garnishing, two fat asparagus stalks on each steak, was tender and had that cut-fresh-this-morning flavor. It was an all-around solidly good experience, and if we find ourselves back in this area of Utah again soon, we will likely go back.
