This is a very impressive fort to visit. It is accessable from the street free of charge. But you have to cross and climb over some path marked walls. There might be some cattle. So be careful not to come to close to the calfs in order not to provoke the mother cows. The views from the top of the fort are very nice. You can overlook the the whole island. The fort is also impressive to look at from far as you can see on my first picture.

This stone fort is quite impressive. It's big, well preserved and offers great views all around the island. If you climb on top of it be careful because the stones are a bit looser than in other forts in Ireland.

An extraordinary early stone Fort on Inis Meain. Well worth a visit.

This three-staged, dry-built rampart is probably pre-Christian in foundation. In size, position, and execution it is similar to the great forts on the big island. Access via An Dun restaurant, some climbing over walls included, so wear good shoes. Nowadays the Dun is used for occasional cultural events like readings.

Here in mid-September and had this marvelous ring fort almost completely to ourselves. A wonderful link to Ireland's distant past, vand to stone-age humanity.

An amazing place to visit. The amount of work put into these structures of Inishmaan.
