A much-ignored feature as it its dwarfed a bit by the larger Dún Crocbhúr nearby.
This ring-fort is more of a quad than a ring. The purpose of these forts is a mystery. Invaders were unlikely and they are far too elaborate as booleys (cow pens). They could have had a religious/social purpose as the inner walls resemble an amphitheater too.
