Nice stone fort overlooking the old pier and guarded by a few goats. As far as stone forts go, this is the little brother of Dun Chonchuir a few hundred meters to the west.

A much-ignored feature as it its dwarfed a bit by the larger Dún Crocbhúr nearby. This ring-fort is more of a quad than a ring. The purpose of these forts is a mystery. Invaders were unlikely and they are far too elaborate as booleys (cow pens). They could have had a religious/social purpose as the inner walls resemble an amphitheater too.

Well worth a visit if you are on Inis Meáin. Fairly easy to walk up to it taking a bit of care. A prehistoric stone fort wit great views.
