Dunapark Restaurant and Coffeehouse

These are the times I wish I could give a 9/10 instead. It is near perfect, only a bit costly, although the cake was well worth the cost. The building itself is very important, one of the rare examples of Hungarian Bauhaus.

A great variety of pastries are available here including important Hungarian staples. They are delicious and definitely worth a visit. The staff if friendly and available. The reason to deduct a point is that they offer zero places to plug in a laptop or phone charger. I appreciate why a place would not want to be overrun by such customers, but how about making available 2-3 such seating options that people can then wait for at least? The atmosphere is also not great, it’s all very dark and brown. There are some larger comfy chairs, but those would only be good if you’re alone, they’re uncomfortable for conversing with others across a huge table. If meeting a friend for coffee, it’s probably best to pick one of the smaller tables. Good options are fewer for larger parties. The outside is nice as long as it’s not sunny. If it is then the sun will be too strong.

We've come to this cafe several times, mostly for the amazing desserts. This time we tried the food and it was very good. Dobos torta and krémes are some of the best in Hungary! Prices are a bit above average. Staff are friendly and attentive, most speak a little English. Unfortunately you will find it hot indoors during summer months and there is no air conditioning, not even a fan. Outdoors is mainly in direct sun. Otherwise a great place to visit right near Margaret Island.

For me, the chocolate cake is OK. My parents didn't like the food, the water is too expensive, and they refill the water bottles, I saw particles in the bottle. The French toast is in used oil, the frankfurter is very bad.

Service is highly depending on whether the owner/general manager is present or not. Service quality was significantly better a few years ago, but you still can get lucky and get a very friendly and nice waiter. One definitely goes here for the ambiance rather than the quality of food/service. Although must mention their coffees are nice and the cakes and sweets on display are delicious.

This is a lovely and classy place. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating, well trained staff and delicious desserts and cakes. We have used it twice to buy nice cakes last minute for birthdays and they come through every time short notice with great candles. Totally recommend for an afternoon coffee, meeting or simple date. Great spot.

We found this place near the dock where we were going to a night cruise. Took us totally by surprise! It’s next to a park in a residential area. The setting was modern and airy, the service was polite and friendly, the food was very tasty, and the Hungarian dessert one could not miss. It’s not very pricey either. Highly recommended, especially if you are going to a night cruise from dock 42.

Great food and service. I love ❤️ the atmosphere but it was a bit cold inside (in mid. November ).
