Yelp
A must see spot if you visit Gran Canaria.
The sand dunes stretch as far as eye can sea, and really remind you that despite the pleasant micro-climate of the Island, on the worlds map you are currently quite close to Africa.
A visit to this site can be as active or lazy as you wish it to be. You can either take a walk through the desert-like bare sandy dunes, choose one to camp under and enjoy the fantastic Playa de Maspalomas or Playa de Ingles which stretches next to them (beware that you might run into a small stretches of nudist areas on those beaches, but if that's not your thing, don't worry, they take up an absolute minority of the space).
Or if you wish to do more trekking, there are areas of the natural reserve which are not so bare and have some paths to trek, fauna and flora to observe, etc. Also, if you'd rather have a cute camel-taxi show you around the area, make sure to visit the Camel Safari and enjoy a 30 minute ride (see my separate review for that).
