Duncreigan Country Inn of Mabou

My husband and I made as spontaneous decision to make a trip to Mabou. We were lucky enough to find 1 room left in Mabou at this charming country inn. We were welcomed by our host and shown to our room. The room was lovely and overlooked the water. It was very clean and comfortable. Our host gave us some information regarding the Red Shoe Pub. He told it was very popular and we should be there a bit early to get a good spot. He was right as the Red Shoe Pub was very busy. The next morning we were treated to breakfast and people the coffee cake was swoon worthy. Overall our stay was lovely.

Perfect as a base for two nights on west Cape Breton Island. Steve was a great host and, in particular, helped sort out a ride for us to a dance in the local area. Breakfast was excellent and the dining room has a great view across the water and lends itself to sociability with other guests. Walking distance to the famous Red Shoe Pub. Rooms are a little dated but definitely have a charm that's in keeping with the rest of the inn.

My wife and I stayed 1 night here. It was an awesome room. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was incredible. We stayed at 10 hotels during our vacation in the maritmes and Duncreigan Country Inn was the best of all. Steven was a very gracious host. Will stay here again if we are in the area.

We had a great stay at Duncraigan Country Inn. Steve is a very friendly and chatty host. He gave us great suggestions for our stay. The room was tidy and clean and spacious. And the breakfast was good with good options and service. We'd happily come back.

Very friendly & comfortable. Great location, right on the water. Our host was welcoming, & he made the best blueberry pancakes! Our room was spacious, with a great view out the windows. The beds were perfect and the room was clean. We walked from there to the “Red Shoe Pub” for a great meal & Celtic music.

We have stayed at Duncreigan Inn a few times, over the years, and always found it to be a very comfortable, cosy and affordable. Steve the proprietor is delightful, and has always gone out of his way to assist us with whatever needs we have. Breakfasts here are better than average.

We stayed here July 26-27, 2024 after our AirBNB in Inverness ghosted us. We’ve stayed here twice before for weddings but really didn’t spend much time at the property. On this trip, we had our 5 & 7 year old children with us. The Duncreigan is clean, comfortable and quiet. The location just outside bustling downtown Mabou makes for a convenient commute to summer activities. We brought an air mattress just in case, and Steve happily supplied fresh linens. Everything is clean and tidy, other guests were polite (and quieter than us), and breakfast was awesome both mornings. To top it off, the trim work is all hardwood and there’s a Gibson acoustic sitting in the living room. 10/10, we will be back!

Location was great and Stephen was a great host. Such a lovely place to make new friends and fond memories. Hopefully, you will be there on a day when blueberry pancakes are served at breakfast.
