The resort is stunning. Very peaceful. The rooms are very simple with NO TV so if that is important to you know that but we enjoyed being unplugged and gettingto focus on each other rather than electronics. The food is fantastic!! Carlos was the best waiter, remembering not only our room number but our likes. Laura kept our room looking cozy and inviting every time we returned. I don’t know how she got rid of all the sand but she is amazing! I loved the diffuer in the room, pleasant and not overwhelming. If you are looking for a very simple but very elegant get away, right on the beach in Tulum, this hotel is perfect.

Google
It’s a really great place. I’ve been here several times, and the staff is always kind and attentive, which makes you feel very welcome. I love the spot by the beach for taking photos it’s beautiful. The food is very good, and the rooms are comfortable, clean, and always well taken care of. Everything feels fresh and spotless, making the stay even more enjoyable.

Google
Worst hotel ever!!! DONT STAY HERE!!! Extremely disappointing stay from start to finish. The hotel is poorly managed, and it shows immediately. Check-in was slow and unprofessional, with staff showing little interest in actually helping guests. Basic service standards were missing. The room was not properly cleaned, maintenance issues were obvious, and the overall condition felt neglected. For a hotel that presents itself as upscale, the reality is far from it. The price charged is completely unjustified for what you receive. Noise made it nearly impossible to rest. Thin walls, constant disturbances, and no effort from staff to address the issue ruined any chance of relaxation. Amenities were misleading at best. What’s advertised does not reflect the actual experience, which makes the stay feel dishonest rather than premium. This hotel relies heavily on appearance and marketing while failing at the fundamentals: cleanliness, comfort, and service. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to anyone.

Google
Loved my NYE trip here. Amazing location and spot right on the beach. Great service all around. The massage with Gloria was wonderful. They provided bikes for us every day which I highly recommend for getting around town. Will definitely be back!

First time in Tulum and Dune was a real treat. We slept to the sound of the ocean, woke up to the sunrise and ate a scrumptious 2 course breakfast (all included in the room charge). The staff were incredibly attentive... thanks especially to Cooper, Abraham and Carlos - beach bar is awesome and I cant rate this gem of a place enough. If you want a natural and tranquil getaway that is well located close to town, then I would highly recommend. We will be back!

Superb experience! We really enjoyed the stay and hospitality. The body treatments at the spa were amazing and Gloria and Mara who gave us the massages and facials were outstanding. The staff overall is very helpful and very responsive. The spicy margaritas and tacos are so fresh and delicious. I would come back here again.

Google
Our stay at Dune was fabulous. It has everything you need with amazing tacos, yoga and an incredible spa. My therapist was Gloria, it was one of the best massages I have had. They have a nice breakfast that was included with our room and even a small boutique that had really cute items!

Google
Excellent weekend getaway option. Privacy, tranquility, design, and of course a breathtaking view. The service is also worthy of note, with genuinely kind and helpful staff. They were also incredibly quick to satisfy a last-minute request for my partner, which we had forgotten to communicate in advance.

Yelp
Such a well run property...beach side restaurant and the food was delicious. Very friendly staff, made you feel so welcome.

Yelp
Hello, I have stayed at the Dune Hotel on approximately five occasions and have recommended DUNE hotel to numerous friends. Unfortunately, on this trip I I found the mattress in my room to be excessively hard. After a recent surgery to my lower back, I was compelled to check out on October 26th. I requested to discuss cancellation of my trip originally planned for 4 nights and land on an agreement on the final bill, The hotel was unable to accommodate and would not allow me to discuss the circumstances with a decision maker I was slightly disappointed by the condition of the mattress and hold Dune to a higher standard

Yelp
5/5 for the service, the view, overall bang for buck. Getting here (4/5): various ways to book. They have solid email communication. We reached out to them multiple times for various reasons like their weekly classes and events, reservation details, etc and always heard back within a business day. Parking available. The guards help you park or find parking if they run out of space. They're amazing! Location is perfect for exploring tulum hotel, resort, night scene. Service (5/5): whether it's storing bags post check out, requests related to room, or anything else, they have got you, your back and the kitchen sink! You feel royal, you feel cared for here. They have weekly yoga classes, moon ceremonies during full moon, and packages or tie ups with companies that do the temescal ceremonies or QR tours. We were running late to some restaurant reservation and the front desk even made sure to move it for us. Rooms (4/5) - 100/5 for the view, the vibe. One point off because it's basically in the wild so you have tons of mosquitoes and spiders. They hooked us up w traps and sprays but it was a sudden change to come back to so many flies, so be wary. Food (5/5): reservations include breakfast every morning. This includes tea or coffee, one of the two fresh juice options (green juice and some fruit juice like watermelon or orange), fruit and yogurt plate, and egg dish of your choice - traditional eggs, chilaquiles, omelette, etc. The only downside to them is the mosquitos honestly but not something they can control or block. DO NOT stay in playa del carmen or cancun, go here.

Yelp
This is a beautiful and quaint resort on Tulum beach but the website pictures and advertisements undersell how rustic this hotel really is; roofs are thatched, bathroom "doors" are made of roughly assembled tree branches, and bugs/mosquitoes are rampant. When asking the front desk to spray and provide mosquito netting, the response was meek at best. No nets were provided and mosquitoes were seen again buzzing around our room. I came away from this vacation with 20-30 large welts of mosquito bites and we ended our stay here early due to the amount of mosquitoes inhabiting our room. For the price point, not worth the rustic accommodations and lack of attention from the staff to ameliorate the bug problem.

Yelp
Beautiful boutique hotel! As soon as you enter you are welcomed by the most friendly staff. Abraham at the restaurant was the most charismatic and hospitable staff member. Sweet Brenda kept our room very clean and tidy! Ana Lara, Mishelle, Eliseo, and Paco were incredible and very welcoming!! They even allowed a late check out for free! The complimentary breakfast was DELICIOUS and the presentation was impeccable. It came with granola, Greek yogurt, fresh fruit with papaya, your choice of eggs, coffee, and green juice! Also, Tulum in general is infested with sargassum/seaweed. BUT the beach in front of the Dune was free of that!!! It was clean and blue! I believe they clean it every morning but the location of their hotel is perfect bc for some reason on other parts of the beaches in Tulum, it is not that blue and clear. We are also staying at Azulik and the beach here is not good. Hot water!!! What a luxury. They are the only hotel I've been to with hot water. Lastly they have ROOM SERVICE. You can have your food delivered to the room. The hotel restaurant was able to bring my breakfast in bed. Look no further! Dune Boutique is the place to go beyond your expectations.

Yelp
I highly recommend this cute boutique hotel! There's motivational and inspirational quotes sprinkled around the property. A delicious breakfast was included in our package. The hotel is centrally located next to a pharmacy and across the street from a convenience store. The food from the onsite restaurant was delicious and the service was terrific. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is next door to Tantra and Taboo which we easily walked to for day club and evening events. The club music can be heard from 12pm to approx 11:30pm. It didn't bother us. We were also allowed to play our own speaker in the pool area. Unfortunately, there was a lot of seaweed so we didn't go into the ocean, but loved that we had a pool and a poolside massage. They also offer sunrise/sunset Yoga sessions available.

Yelp
Great stay at this hotel. It is a lot smaller than others but very affordable for the location. The rooms are nothing too special but the balcony is nice and they have a great beach set up. The pool is pretty small but not really needed with the hotel located right on the beach. The service was very good overall. Breakfast is included with the stay but only a couple egg dishes (even though the other items on the menu were cheaper than what they said was included - doesn't make much sense but it is what it is). I also wouldn't recommend using the bikes as they are pretty beat up. My handle bars came loose when I was riding and I had to walk about a mile back to the hotel. Overall, good value and a nice 15 minute walk from the good restaurants.

Yelp
Absolutely Awful - Almost Ruined Vacation. My wife and I were supposed to stay here for a full week at the end of May. We made it three days before leaving for another hotel. It's located right next to Taboo Tulum - which is a d***chey club that blasts house music from 12pm to 2am. So all day at the beach, all you hear is club music. And all night, you can't sleep until after 2pm when the music stops. Then all morning, you just imagine hearing more club music because it's like a mental torture. The Dune Owner knows about this and did nothing to help us after three nights of me begging for a partial refund. We just wanted anything to help book another hotel further away but they refused. The owner is awful and greedy to not show some sort of understanding for our plight. Literally had to throw away a thousand dollars to get out of there so we could salvage what was left of our week in Mexico. The food and drinks are also terrible at the restaurant - which is why they make it free for most guests. The pool is tiny and easily overrun by a loud group of wanna be instagram influencers (which also happened to us as 8 young girls would take over the pool each day). ALSO the power went out constantly at Dune. So you can't shower or flush the toilet for hours at a time. Just imagine how gross that can't be when it happens at the wrong time...yeah. The beds and pillows are also horribly uncomfortable for what it's worth. Only makes it harder to fall asleep while the club music blares next door. The pool is only important because the beach is COVERED WITH SEAWEED. It's apparently a natural phenomena (maybe global warming or due to oil spills) but just google images of Tulum's coast. You literally can't get past it as it washes up all along the coast and stays in the water for hundreds of yards so there's no swimming past it. Skip Dune, Skip Tulum if you want to have any hope of a decent, relaxation beach vacation. We salvaged our trip by spending three days at Isle Mujeres off the coast of Cancun and it was BEAUTIFUL! Crystal clear blue water and chill people - no gross, trashy influencer types ruining nature's beauty with their selfie props and artificial personalities. Tulum + Dune = Ruined Vacation. And I hope the Dune owner reads this and knows a simple few hundred dollar refund would've changed everything for us.

Yelp
Absolutely love this hotel! This was my second time staying and they made some updates to the rooms and property and it looks amazing. This hotel is in the perfect spot to other restaurants and hotels. The staff was very attentive and polite. It's very peaceful and a quieter hotel. They offer free breakfast daily during your stay which was delicious.

Yelp
Amazing time with wonderful people at dune hotel! The team (especially Alex and Carlos) were welcoming and attentive and made the experience one we will never forget. The spaces are beautiful and the restaurant was delicious. There is music from a nearby club, but it was nothing a white noise app on your phone couldn't take care of if you go to bed early. Would absolutely return!

Yelp
Dune boutique hotel was 110% of the phenomenal place to stay. The hotel was extremely clean. The rooms were organized and spacious. There is a clean very thoroughly every day. The food was delicious. The service was extraordinary. The beach views were amazing and clean. The front desk staff are very helpful in planning tours and booking taxis. I would say we have absolutely no complaints and would easily stay here again. They even decorated our room for my friends bachelorette and it was phenomenally decorated! I highly recommend this hotel without any reservation!

Yelp
We went for dinner on the beach! The vibe + seating area is perfect for a fun sunset dinner. Happy hour drinks 2 for 1! Food was well priced compared to other restaurants on the beach. Our waiter Abraham was THE BEST!!!!!!

Yelp
This place is a scam, I so wish I could give it zero stars. It is not at all relaxing and certainly not "an escape," but instead, an overpriced, thwomping bass tourist trap. If you want to hear said thwomping bass at the same BPM 11am-4am every day, without being able to sleep through the night, then this spot is for you. My husband and I stopped by in person to book two nights at Dune during our honeymoon, thinking we were treating ourselves to a "relaxed beachfront room" after experiencing loud construction directly next door to the Airbnb we had previously booked. Went old the Dune staff we were hoping to escape for some peace and quiet. They proceeded to book us for two nights, never telling us 1) that it would offer neither peace, nor quiet, and 2) that this reservation was non-refundable (even though we booked a couple of days in advance). When we checked in to our room -- hoping to finally get some rest and relaxation after a long day of sightseeing and biking several miles -- all we could hear was the same, awful bass coming from next door. We asked how late the bass would be going, they said 4am ; we asked if they had quieter rooms, they said no other rooms were available; we told them we wanted to leave because we desperately needed some peace and quiet, and that we'd like our money back to book elsewhere, because we couldn't stay there either night if we couldn't sleep, they refused to refund us; then, apparently another room magically emerged, because they showed us a room directly above the first, but it was still just as loud; we asked if we could speak to the manager about a refund, they told us the manager was gone for the day, but that they would call us the following day about all this, the manager never reached out; we attempted to call ourselves, no one answered. The rooms are small and unremarkable, the Wi-Fi spotty, the food portions tiny and overpriced, there were dozens of bugs all over our patio, and quite frankly, never in my life have I experienced less accommodating staff, least of all in the hospitality business. So, thank you Dune, for stealing our money and providing zero "escape" during our honeymoon. This place is trash and we will never be back.

K C.

Yelp
There's nothing 5 star about this property. Water was leaking from our ceiling. The property wasn't well maintained and overpriced for what's offered

Yelp
This place is located in a great spot and yes it is on the cleaner side, but a big big issue was the electricity. The electricity went out every day and it powers the water flow (shower, sink, toilet) so multiple mornings we just had to wait to shower until the water came back on or we came back from the beach one day and had to go out to dinner without showering. I brought this up to the front desk and so did others. They way they rectified this was by buying me a drink at the bar where I then had to leave a tip for the bartender

Sleefood L.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all, Google lists this as a 5-star resort. ABSOLUTELY NOT! This is a 3-star AT BEST. If it was properly labeled as a 2 or 3-star, I would not have this complaint, as I would be understanding of some of these issues. But, as a 5-star, this is completely unacceptable. When you check in, there is only one person running the lobby and front desk. So if that person is working with a customer, there is no one else to greet guests, but as you'll see in my notes later, there is no one to answer any phones! Also, that person will be in jeans and sneakers, and look like some random person on a couch with a laptop. It's all super strange. I waited 20 minutes to just get started on my check-in process. When you get to the room, it's at best like a motel off the side of the highway. I had a room with a "hot tub" on the balcony, but I do not recommend you get this room. They only provide you with two - Only two thin full size towels in the room. The type of towels you get at a dollar store. So we wanted to call down for more towels. BUT, there are no phones in the room! You have to use your cellphone to call the front desk. But, since there is only one person, if he's with a guest, no one answers. I never found a time that they ever answered the phone. Then we find out that the hot tub doesn't work. Eventually, I got a staff member and they tried to fix it. He tried but found out that when he was able to get it hot, it caused other issues in the building so we were not able to use it hot. So that was a WASTE! Then there is the AC. It's a super cheap AC unit that would not get the room cold no matter what temperature you set it at. This is a MUST in a hot Mexican environment. Next, the toilet doesn't flush well. Takes 5-10 times to completely flush a toilet so that it is completely clear of any waste. Then, you have the wi-fi. It doesn't reliably reach the room. It goes in and out and it was basically unusable. So, no tub, no AC, no-wifi, no reliable toilet, no towel service, no front desk, no phones, etc... How is this a "5-star hotel"? Why would anyone want to stay here?

Yelp
Really shady hotel. Hotel staff lovely. Managment crooks. Restaurant is ok. While sunbathing the hotel decided to allow a wind surfing company to set up oN the beach. No peace and quite. The restaurant staff is not relaxed due to the hostile environment and treatment from management. These guys have a nice location but amateurs in the hospitality business. Stay elsewhere.
google avatar

Yelp
I felt like I was one step up from glamping. It's definitely not a 5-star hotel. The word boutique sums it up. It's no frills. The rooms are super small just like the grounds. There are so many great places to stay in Tulum but I wouldn't recommend it. The front desk staff are nice, but one couldn't answer basic questions or offer to look into it. The beach chairs are not maintained well and look sloppy. The lunch at the restaurant is pretty good. I had a good mojito.

Yelp
Dune restaurant is amazing! I've come to tulum on 3 separate occasions and I always stop here for a meal. Great drinks! Great food ! What more can I say.

Yelp
This review is based on the restaurant. We had breakfast and lunch at the hotel restaurant/ beach area. We literally stayed here all day! The staff was super friendly and the food was good as well. They also had a nice pool we used and free WiFi. Highly recommend.

Yelp
amazing hotel! Service all around was amazing - from the hotel concierge to the bartenders on the beach. Super hospitable and smart! Everyone spoke multiple languages and were always helpful and accommodating. Food here is amazing along with the views & property itself. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
We celebrated my husbands 60th birthday party here with 40 of our closest friends. We rented out the entire hotel for 3 nights. They hospitality was amazing!!! Maria and everyone that works there couldn't have been more accommodating and attentive. The food and drinks were delish, the wait staff amazing! The rooms are all nice and clean. We stayed in the ocean front suite over the restaurant and it has a beautiful balcony which allowed us to have all our guests over to hang out on the patio. Everyone in our group was so happy and everyone wants to go back. Thank you for making our time there so memorable. We will be back!

Yelp
This place is Absolute Paradise! We arrived in Mexico after a stressful flight (Spirit was the only direct flight to Quintana Roo from Baltimore). Then, Budget Rental gave me a surprise $1,300.00 USD hold on my account for the car rental. So needless to say, when we arrived, we were exhausted, hungry and down right pitiful. As soon as we entered the Dune Boutique, that all went away. The staff were warm and very welcoming. Throughout the stay, everyone was so helpful and accommodating, including the attached bar/restaurant on the beach. The room was gorgeous and included AC and Wifi. We were even upgraded to a room with a private rooftop cabana, jacuzzi tub and an ocean view. The surrounding palm trees and birds really added to the amazing ambiance. This hotel offers reasonably priced bike rentals, which might be the best way to get around Tulum. I would highly recommend this hotel for an amazing experience of Tulum. While your there, you should check out Kin Toh, NU Tulum or Gitano. All three of these restaurants are a great experience for special occasions. I hope to find my way back to this paradise sometime in the future.

Yelp
if you don't travel much and love instagram this place is for you! no working toilet, threatened to be charged if i stained towels, restaurant cheats for tips, no mgmt on site most of the time, rude front office staff that stalks you to do their stupid mayan dinner. this place is trashy, gross, and blasts bass from 10AM - 4AM. It's the right place if you like trash. Go for the trash.

Zach P.

Yelp
Wouldn't offer a refund or credit after corona virus prompted flight and travel plans to change. Tried to change dates but we're constantly unreachable citing poor cell signal and continuing to send emails saying "all we can do is wait". Appears to be a scam.

Tatianna T.

Yelp
I rarely write reviews, however my stay was AMAZING!! Lalo the owner is extremely friendly and warm! He made sure each day that our stay was up-to-par. The place itself is beautiful! All the staff there are lovely! We were extremely last minute with completing our COVID test so we had to go off site, however, the front desk was amazing and extremely accommodating. The front desk ensured we got our COVID test by booking our appointments and providing transportation to the medical facility and printed our results out for us and handed it to us at the end of our stay. The breakfast is also phenomenal! The cleaning service is like nothing I've seen before. Me and my friend Jen are two girls who came with two overweight suitcases, so automatically you can tell we had a lot of stuff. And we also had a lot of mess. Silvia from housekeeping would organize each individual item and fold our clothes so neatly. We are both from New York so we used to stellar accommodations but this one has been the best yet so far! Upon leaving they even offered us 25% off our next stay. I will be returning!! Do NOT think twice about booking here. Just do it! Thank you for such an amazing stay! Tatianna T.
