Dunedin Holiday Park & Motels

A great holiday park! fun artwork & quirky wood characters to brighten up your stay. Easy booking, friendly helpful staff. Didn’t rate the rooms or facilities as hubby & I stayed here in our self contained caravan. The campground is quiet, clean & tidy and is handy to shops & petrol station. There is also a shop onsite for basic groceries & takeaways which are very nice. This is our second stay. Highly recommended. Enjoy, your stay, you won’t be disappointed. The campground has everything you really need. The staff are friendly, the facilities are clean, and the sites are spacious enough with a bit of wind protection. However, it feels like no major visible upgrades haven't been made since around 1990. If you compare it to Waipu Cove on the North Island—which has a similar size and location—you definitely get more value for money up there. This place is fine for a stay, but it could really benefit from some modernisation.

I called to book 4 days out from when we needed the site for a caravan and camper together( 2 sites )and was told plenty of powered sites, that I didn’t need to give details and just come along. Got there to find no powered sites and was told only unpowered and that we could park anywhere with the outlined on the map areas. Parking was very difficult in this area for our sized caravan and motor home as people had just literally parked anywhere and not kept within the lines. Very tight spots no place to turn. Was very noisey with slider vans and the comings and goings all hours of the night even 3am in the morning. Beach is a good walk away, not directly from the camp grounds. We wouldn’t use this camp again

We enjoyed staying at the Dunedin Holiday Park. We were there for 2 nights in a small camper van. Facilities were good. I only gave 4 star as I felt the two communal kitchens weren't maintained as well as they could be. As in, some appliances didn't work, some sinks without stoppers, mixed selection of cookware, crockery, cutlery. Not enough tea cloths. It's great that in these things were available..but all...or nothing should be the mantra.|We went into Dunedin on the bus as the bus stop is right in front of the caravan park, in a little black shelter back from the kerbside. We didn't have the coins to pay for this (asked about the bus the night before at Reception, as from Australia and had being paying for everything with card). Bianca was amazing and lent us the 6 dollars! We withdrew money at a Dunedin cashpoint, and paid her back the next evening.|We really like the communal TV room...got to relax but also chat to other campers.

We had a powered site for two nights (early October 2025). The bathrooms are very clean & tidy (plenty of toilets and showers). And there's a large kitchen, with a seated dining area. The hosts are very nice. Oh, the location is just behind the beach. And the caravan park is perfectly located = short 8min drive to the city (easiest parking for motorhomes is directly across the train tracks, from the Dunedin train station). It's a quick walk up over the tracks to access the train station AND the city centre. And 30min north-east of the caravan park is the Albatross Centre (worth going to). There's a "coastal route" and a "plateau route" = both are the MOST scenic drives you shall ever do in your life.

Stayed here over the weekend with our school sports team. The place was everything we could have asked for! TV rooms were great for the kids and studio/two-bed apartments were cozy and well equipped. Staff all super friendly and accomodating. Very helpful when we needed them! Right by the beach and a massive sports field, great for entertaining the kids. Also has playground and other facilities for kids to use. All around awesome experience, would recommend to anyone looking for a chill, kiwi campground holiday experience.

The staff at the site are lovely, kind, and welcoming. Unfortunately, that is the only advantage. The facilities are extremely outdated — chairs, tables, couches, sofas, and even the toilets feel like they have been there since the 90s. The kitchen is stuffy with very poor ventilation. Every visit is accompanied by the smell of all the guests’ cooking, to the point that after each time we entered the kitchen, our clothes had to go straight into the laundry. The TV room is simply musty and damp. The sofas were covered in sand, so on rainy days we preferred to stay in our vehicle rather than sit in there.

We stayed here for one night camping in a van so the rooms/cabins were irrelevant to us. The camp sites are fairly small, but all the amenities are nice and clean. Overall it was okay but I don't think I'd stay at again.

We stayed at this holiday park for 1 night when stopping in Dunedin. We had a site with electrical hookups and we had WiFi (I think for 1 or 2 hours). The bathrooms and showers were clean, except there was a cockroach in the women's bathroom...besides that one pest, it was very clean.
