We stayed at Dunkeld House for the 1st time this week. The long winding drive leads to an enchanting and impressive country house hotel situated in a quiet glen on the banks of the river Tay. It was dusk and the hotel looked magical, there was also a wedding party enjoying their bog day too. The reception team were welcoming and efficient. My room was located in the 2nd floor and was newly refurbished, comfortable and modern, if on the smaller side. Crerar Hotels do things pretty well and Dunkeld House is probably one of our favourites in their small boutique group. The restaurant was huge and service fairly attentive. The menu was ok too and priced as you'd expect for a hotel deep in the woods with starters and desserts priced around £13 and main courses between £25 and £40. B'fast was a large hot & cold buffet with everything you'd want although I've yet to find a buffet b'fast that tastes and looks as good as cooked to order. Personally, I'd rather have a la carte style for my hot items and it's actually not that difficult for hotels to do this for private individuals. Where groups like weddings are concerned, a buffet is fine but we've travelled across Scotland this week and it's the 1st self serve hot & cold buffet we've encountered. We didn't see a guest lounge area but suspect the wedding party was using that as a function space but there was a pool and spa. Free Parking was directly outside the hotel and the village of Dunkeld is a popular spot with lots of dining options and independent shops. There is also the famous abbey and just down the road in Birham, the Beatrix Potter Exhibition also. The local area has stunning scenery and lovely walks and we'll probably try the hotel again when we're needing a stay near Pitlochry.

Just home from late birthday girls break. It was the perfect trip we didn’t know we needed. The location is so tranquil, the hotel is beautiful, spotless and well presented with everything conveniently located while seeming secluded and private. The food was excellent at breakfast and dinner both days. The biggest selling point has to be the staff, every single one of them, were so friendly and welcoming, making our stay that extra bit special. Particularly mention has to go to Gareth, his knowledge of cocktails and matching the perfect drink to our tastes, Will who advised us so well in the menus at breakfast and dinner and kept us laughing and Dace for the best stress relieving massage. I’m already working on dates for a return.

I visited the hotel yesterday and spent a night. My experience was excellent. The hotel is wonderful, room was modern, comfortable, and very clean. I really liked the atmosphere within the the hotel facilities. It is the perfect place for a escape. They have adventurous activities and if you are lucky, you will see deers around 😍.. more importantly, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, especially in the reception and restaurant. I highly recommend their fish and chips dish it is so delicious 💯.. I couldn’t resist the breathtaking views around the hotel . I would definitely visit again and recommend it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We are just back from the most wonderful relaxing weekend at the Dunkeld House Hotel. Set in the beautiful Perthshire countryside this hidden gem won’t fail to impress you. The staff are so friendly and welcoming with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you instantly breathe and relax. The food is 5⭐️ and the service informal and polite. I can’t rate the place highly enough and now that we’ve found it, we will definitely return.

Absolutely amazing hotel, awesome traditional country style hotel..Staff very polite and rooms are so cosy. Too much to mention.. Health club is also very impressive with saunas, gym and pool! What stood out to us what the service from Gareth from the stag hotel. His funny but professional humour was very comforting and made us feel comfortable. Too place 😍

My stay at Dunkeld House Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The setting alone is breathtaking—nestled along the River Tay, the grounds are peaceful, scenic, and the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. The facilities made the experience even better. My room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed, striking that perfect balance of elegance and coziness. The leisure area was a real highlight—I enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and sauna, all of which were spotless and inviting. Dining was outstanding from start to finish. The restaurant delivered some of the best meals I’ve had in Scotland. Each dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor, and the service throughout was warm, attentive, and polished without ever feeling rushed. Every staff member I met went out of their way to make me feel welcome and cared for. This is a place where every detail—from the views, to the food, to the thoughtful service—comes together to create a truly memorable stay. I would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend Dunkeld House Hotel to anyone looking for comfort, luxury, and genuine Scottish hospitality.

We recently stayed at Dunkeld House Hotel for a few nights after our wedding and it was fantastic. The hotel is beautifully set on the river, with a short walk into the centre of Dunkeld. We enjoyed dinner and drinks at the hotel both nights and were very impressed. The staff were fantastic and could not do enough to help us enjoy our stay.

Yelp
This is an old world European hotel. It has a lot of charm. The staff and new General manager are very nice and welcoming. The grounds are meticulously kept and surrounding area very beautiful. If you love the outdoors, old world charm, and a feeling of what it was like to stay at an exclusive large estate manor 100 years ago, this is the place to come. My wife and I personally love it. That said it does need some major updating. The decor is definitely aligned with the local area so the theme is outdoors, hunting, etc. this is fine but it could be done in a much more updated manner. The restaurant is unfortunately average and not up to the level of the hotel. Not sure why but unlike modern hotels, the pool and gym close early. We stayed at one of the lodges. Very nice but also definitely in need of update. We were charged separately ~$100 dollars for the electricity we used during our weeklong stay, a first after 40 years of global travel. Having the Lodge cleaned once during our stay would cost 60 pounds or about $80 dollars. If you're going for the old world experience, rustic charm of the grounds, welcoming staff, etc. Then come have a unique experience. For those looking to stay at high end luxury, this may one day get there but not yet.

Yelp
The grounds and original country house are beautiful. Come park and walk around the estate and maybe grab a drink if you can get service. No need to make the same mistake we made and book a night here. We booked in advance for 4 nights expecting a luxury resort experience at the end of our vacation in Scotland. Very disappointing! The rooms are nothing like the pictures, they are small, dated and dirty. The staff was mixed, many young people working in the restaurant and bar, they were nice but inexperienced and inattentive. The management including Sandy the general manager just seem incompetent. This place should be a knock you on your heels Scottish luxury experience. Instead it's just a dressed up Holiday Inn with very expensive food and drink. Very unfortunate.

Yelp
I expected a lot more. Food was okay but nothing outstanding. Beer taps were broken and that was a big disappointment. Liver and onions was good and breakfast was good. The grounds and setting were spectacular and I do like the big-old-Scottish- Manor feel to the place, it was fun. I might go back if the price were right. There's a walking path along the river into town, but I didn't get to go as I was just passing through. The Whiskey at the checkin counter was great! Thanks for the sample.

Yelp
I had chosen this hotel because of its convenient location for a trip to the middle of the Cairngorm National Park. The website also promised tranquility and peace from a hectic city life. Sadly, this promise had a flaw, as during the first night of my stay they had a wedding on and music as well as various noises swept through my window keeping me awake until the hotel seemed to quiet down about one o'clock. Anyway, during my second night I was plagued by my neighbours not taking into account that other people are trying to sleep nearby. The moral of the story is to avoid a room in the front of the building during summer months. This also takes into account that just beneath the windows there is a terrace where people can enjoy outside seating or the occasional cigarette and small talk. The room itself looked quite outdated, although I felt at ease in that room. Had a cozy feel to it. Still, the curtains need a good wash instead of the grey colour shown. The windows need fixing as you can't actually keep them open without a wood piece. Bathroom could use some paint too. Having said all of that, there are currently renovations going on inside and out, which adds to the additional noise level. Can't wait to see the final results! Booking was fairly easy. First I used the hotel website and then I asked the hotel directly for an extension of my stay and got a quote for the second night. When I had to pay my bill, I was charged the wrong amount for both nights. Of course, they had charged me higher!!!! Best you use their website for the booking as they also offer online discounts, which you don't seem to get when booking directly. Always check your Bill too! Mine was supposed to be put through my door in the morning, but never was. Staff in the restaurant were very friendly, although I felt that during the first night with the wedding on, they were a bit understaffed. The bar staff did give me the impression I was an inconvenience for placing an order at the bar. Nobody really was attending to any tables in the lobby nor other public area off the hotel, which I would have expected of a country hotel of this size and price. Reception staff was very kind and welcoming (Ross), but appeared a bit stressed out. There were so many things going on that it made it hard to remember things to follow up on. I had asked for my bathrobe 3 times within 3 hours which was supposed to be included in my room and price. Last but not least I got informed by the night receptionists that there are no more available and there was nothing she could do, even she tried. In addition they planned to charge me money for the bathrobe when I had asked for it, not realising I had a room upgrade. I can imagine where all the robes went. However, when checking out, they never deducted the money from my bill either! Breakfast was pleasant enough and there is plenty of buffet choice. The only thing to say is that it would be good to put a description on the muesli dispensers, so that guests know what they are getting. The surrounding areas of the hotel are lovely. I had nice long walks on the estate and also enjoyed some clay pigeon shooting. Just make sure that you book the spa treatments far in advance. I arrived and there was no massage available for the next 4 days. My trip was a short notice trip, but considering that they are advertising a spa with the hotel, I felt very much disappointed by their response. It's a nice long drive from the main road to the hotel. There is plenty to see in the area and walks to enjoy (Hermitage). You can choose to go to the gym, clay pigeon shooting, rifle, archery and quad bikes. All located on the hotel estate. They serve excellent afternoon tea. One not to be missed! Previously the hotel was a Hilton, but is now privately owned. Let's just hope that with all the refurbishment going on and a better grip on the management of the hotel, it will actually become a 4 star it's own rights and a 5 star on Yelp. I will definitely be back (although a bit overpriced for what you get at the moment), as this place has very high potential!

Yelp
I was recently here for a wedding and absolutely was in awe of the grounds. Upon driving in you're greeted by beautiful old castle arches which lead you down a narrow path through beautiful fields and rolling mountains. About two miles in you are greeted by a small parking lot and the beautiful hotel overlooking the river tay which is popular for juicy salmon fishers. Check in was very easy and we were given a room upstairs in room 137. When we got into the room we were smacked in the face by heat and a rather peculiar smell. Upon further inspection we noticed that there was a rather damp smell in the bathroom from an old wet towel that wasn't cleaned up. The bed is also very close to the door and because of that you can really hear everything that's goin on in the hall. The hall has a door leading to the room as well as the door opening and closing constantly (I think they should remove that door considering it's so close to that room) The water pressure in that bathroom is awful and it doesn't have a view other than the roof. The windows don't open unless you pry them open And the drapes were very dated and dirty. Although I was unhappy with the bed and pillows the beautiful scenic views outside and the sound of the river made up for it. Despite this I hope to come back one day if they work on all these things.

Yelp
The Hilton Dunkeld house is situated of the main road and a short drive from the nearby town. From the outside the building looks great, surrounded by trees and in front of the hotel is a river that is popular with salmon fishing. An ideal getaway from the city life all, The hotel in some area's is a little dated and very worn around the edges the rooms where fine but found it strange why they have four bedside lamps dotted around the room. The room felt cluttered with furniture there where three armchairs that felt constantly in the way. The restaurant carpet was filthy and needed a good hover and a shampooing. The food was good l had the lamb dish for my main course. There is Wi-Fi here but will cost you an arm and a leg to use there is no 3g signal here and mobile reception is poor.

Yelp
A bit disappointing and here's why: The restaurant was laid out like a refectory and the British staff members were very curt (I have no complaints about the foreign nationals working in the hotel who were very polite). The food was also served on super heated plates which basically double cooked the prawn dish I ordered as a starter and made them tough. Was pretty disappointed about the quality of the food generally to be honest....it was 'average'. My parent's chicken supremes looked as dry as the sahara. The only restaurant reservation times we could get were 1830, 2030 and 2100. The 1830 time was just far too early so we opted for the 2030 time. We sat in the bar for a while having a drink and because of my father's recent illness he gets tired sooner than later. At 8pm I inquired as to the chances of getting seated earlier (there were plenty of empty tables), the waitress on the restaurant reception told me our table would be ready at 20:30 and absolutely no earlier. Her manner that was blunt, verging on rude. The room we had wasn't much better than a Travelodge room to be honest and the cleanliness of the bathroom was poor. The tile grout was filthy and my girlfriend refused to use the bath due to the look of it (she did of course shower :) ). Also our bedroom window looked out on a car park that seemed to be used mainly by staff and delivery vehicles. It was pretty noisy all the time with the sound of a staff member's 125 two stroke motorcycle and various banging and crashing going on loading vans. All in all, I feel this is a glorified conferencing hotel for folks out on a corporate jolly. Additionally the amount of tacky self promotion material for timeshares and the like littering all the tables and public spaces made the hotel feel like MacHilton. I was also disappointed with the Dunkeld Hilton because I'd invited my parents to join us for the night and got them a room too. I really wanted to treat them to something special because my father is recovering from a brain operation, sadly my stay the the Dunkeld Hilton left me feeling somewhat embarrassed and annoyed. I should add that the grounds are lovely and there's plenty of activities such as clay shooting, but as another reviewer pointed out, it's not cheap.

Yelp
Dunkeld House, now a Hilton Hotel, used to be an old country mansion belonging to some high-falootin bloke. It still maintains that country feel, and has plenty of things to do for each member of the family. There's a pool, steam room, sauna, beauty spa area. And for the adventurous, outdoor activities like clay pigeon shooting, 4w driving courses, all sorts really. The only downsides to the hotel are the lack of decent public areas. The bar area is tiny, and the lounge isn't much bigger really. Drinks are mighty expensive, so bring extra pennies. Other than that, it's in a lovely location, and there are plenty of walks to be had round the area.

Yelp
We love this place. Great for locals and foreigners alike. Good food, great staff, beautiful grounds. More than you would expect on this vast estate. Loved being by the River Tay. This is a wonderful retreat.

Yelp
What a great place to be! Although not a party town whatsoever, this property is nestled nicely on 100 hectres (something like that) of plush Scottish landscape. 20 yards from a prime salmon fishing river, and various outdoor activities including traps/skeet shooting, archery, and the wonderful Land Rover off road driving experience, this little gem in the woods is quite a nice getaway from the busy city life. The commute through the gates up the main driveway is nothing but spectacular, with the city cathedral on the left and a herd of 150 wild deer in the valley on the left, as you make your way further into the property, all existence of civiliazation is left behind and as you part your way through the low rolling fog, it feels as if you are entering a forbidden valley in jurassic park. The hotel itself is nothing spectacular as it's a 1900's old cottage like building re-painted some 20 years back to a pasty white exterior. The interior is warming and cozy with the smell of chimney fire as you enter the lobby. Some rooms are newly reno'ed so it gives quite the modern touch and comfort you'd expect from a Hilton (although most UK hiltons will be far from this expectation). The food is mediocre, however i found the mint flavored peas to be extremely interesting as the herbs and mint combo made the peas taste exactly like green apples in my mouth. It was the weirdest sensation. Do take a stroll along the river here however, in the early late fall morning, the frost makes the place look like a winter wonderland without the snow. Bring your guns if you like to practice your trapshooting here. If you dont have one, dont worry, the onsite gunsmith is the pinnacle in custom gunsmiths in the country. You'll need a hefty chequebook for this though as their guns are truely amazing with a hefty pricetag as well.

Yelp
The food taste's fucking horrible, first they got my order wrong then the food tastes horrible to decent. Rooms are very cramped.

Yelp
Used to be an excellent hotel and could be again if the dining room was managed properly, it not actually managed at all! Some of the dining room staff should have chosen a career in a non customer facing industry as they have a limited knowledge of customer serviceor smiling. The food is very good and the setting is perfect.
