Dunlewey, Glen Heights BnB

I recently stayed at Kathleen’s B&B in September with two American friends, and I don’t often write reviews, but I felt absolutely compelled to share my experience. From the moment we arrived, Kathleen made us feel right at home. She welcomed us with warm scones and pots of tea in a cozy dining area that boasts breathtaking views – Dunlewey Valley in one direction, and the majestic Mount Errigal in the other. The B&B itself is peaceful and beautifully situated, but what truly makes it stand out is Kathleen herself. She is one of the kindest and most helpful hosts I’ve ever met, always going the extra mile to ensure her guests have a memorable stay. If you're looking for a quiet retreat in stunning surroundings with an exceptional hostess, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Kathleen is a great host, I checked in for a peaceful night away and that’s 100% what you get. The views of the mountains and lake are stunning, it’s near the end of the lane towards the old chapel and the peace down here is amazing. If you’re in this part of the world it’s well worth a couple of nights to base yourself in beautiful surrounds and have traditional BnB welcome. The room was spotless clean and a nice breakfast to start the day was well needed, great value too!

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights in late September 2022. Kathleen was such a wonderful host, she reminded me of every one of my friends' moms back home. She grew up in the area, so has a wealth of knowledge and some great stories. She is also an amazing cook and goes above and beyond to make sure everything is okay. One of the highlights was getting up early in the morning to climb Mt. Errigal, which is about a half mile up the road. Thank you for such a nice stay Kathleen!||Carole and Michael

Glen Heights has to have some of the best views in Ireland. It's right in the middle of the glen, a short stroll from the beautiful old church, with Errigal on one side and Dunlewey Lake on the other. The bedrooms and breakfast rooms have gorgeous views. Kathleen is a very kind and relaxed host. Breakfast was tasty and generous. I slept really well in the peace of the glen and it was so nice to wake up there. ||||I wish I had a longer stay there and I'll definitely be back.

Kathleen is an amazing host. She was thoughtful, kind, and welcoming. We traveled with two small children, ages 6 and 3, and Kathleen was amazing with the children. She went out of her way to make everyone a wonderful breakfast and was very kind to the children. Kathleen's home is absolutely beautiful and very clean. I highly recommend Glen Heights B&B and can honestly say that this was the best B&B I found in Ireland.

This is an outstanding and welcoming B&B in one of the loveliest parts of Donegal. Kathleen (and her wonderful daughter, who happened to be visiting) is a delightful hostess; the house sits up a VERY STEEP driveway and has breathtaking views in all directions). Great for touring the area and discovering local history! Breakfasts were superb, rooms spotless and most comfortable and our early departure for the airport was perfectly managed. To actually look down on the Poison Glen and around at the glorious landscape was a privilege. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Kathleen is just a great host. Perfect place, nice breakfast and amazing environment. The house is clean and has amazing views. We felt very comfortable during our stay. We spent 13 night in Ireland in 6 different places. This is way the best of them.

I just fell in love with Glen Heights B&B from the moment I saw it. It is in a beautiful, peaceful setting with mountain and lake views and with sheep grazing on the hill side. The host, Kathleen, is a very kind and generous woman who made me feel so welcome and at home. She cooks a very good breakfast with sausage, ham, eggs, crossants, wheat bread, and has a variety of fruit and cereals. She even offers you a nice drink in the evening. Breakfast is served in a room with large windows and magnificent views of the poison glen (mountains) and lake below. Her home is set up in the side of the mountain with a steep drive way up so make sure you have good brakes on your car. We had no problem navagating it. We stayed in the twin room ( twin bed and full size bed) which was a large room with a large closet space for your belongings and a private bath with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. I loved opening the window and looking out at the sheep on the hill side. The air was so fresh and cool. The poison glen hike is just a 5 minute walk down the road from her house. It is a good location for visiting Glenveagh castle and horn head. Highly recommended for a peaceful get away with great views.
