Dunn’s River Falls is truly a must-experience excursion when visiting Jamaica.
The entry fee does vary significantly between residents and non-residents, but even so, the experience is well worth it. The falls themselves are beautiful and unique, and being able to enjoy both the cascading water and the beach makes this stop special.
One important thing to note: there is a long walk. Going down is fairly easy, but the walk back up—from the beach to the parking area...is intense and will definitely get your heart rate up. If you’re unfit, carrying lots of bags, or traveling with a large family or young children who require extra items, this may be challenging. The walk back is no joke.
The facility itself is well equipped. There are lockers, plenty of changing rooms, food available on site (though I didn’t try it), and guides if you want a more structured experience. I didn’t use a guide, but they are available and add to the overall vibe for those who want it.
Overall, this is an iconic Jamaican attraction...beautiful, memorable, and worth doing at least once. Just come prepared, pack light, and wear comfortable footwear.
