We usually stay in Mt. Shasta for our skiing holiday, but this year the prices were better in Dunsmuir so we decided to give it a try. Were we ever glad we did! Not only did we save about 40%, but the quality and hospitality of this inn exceeded even the more expensive ones in Mt. Shasta!
This is a motel, not the Ritz, so don't expect stylish decor and room service. However, it has everything you need in a motel and is very well kept. The room was clean and big enough to accommodate our ski gear and extra clothes and the king-size bed and pillows were great. The rooms are not well-insulated, but we stayed nice and toasty once we set the heater to work automatically, and used the extra blanket. Amenities include cable TV, free Wi-Fi, a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, and bathtub. The only drawback of this motel is that there's no hot tub, but the shower water is so HOT that we found a soak in the tub banished our chills more than a lukewarm hot tub would. Plus, you know the water's clean and no chlorine smell afterwards.
The innkeeper was friendly, and the room was serviced daily with fresh towels, cups, coffee, and a made bed. The Inn has a great view of residential houses and mountains, and is within easy walking distance to downtown restaurants and shops. Overall, this place was more comfortable and friendly than those we'd stayed at in Mt. Shasta, and at a better price.
