Great atmosphere. Food was amazing, I had the crab cakes and my friend the gator bites...

A hidden Gem!!!! We were a party of 6 last night for my sister's bday. This was our first time coming we like to hunt around for different places so this one was highly recommended and let me tell ya we were not at all disappointed. Our waitress was amazing and so friendly she kept all our drink full and coming. Im very picky when it comes to charbroiled oyster and I will demand how I like them so I let out waitress know exactly how I wanted them and she made sure they came out just that way and I give a huge thank u to the oyster prep person for all 3 of our oyster orders not having one shell in the bite. They were very delicious and big a plussssss. AND Had I known how delicious them steaks were that would of been my meal I tasted a steak and my bite was literally cut with a fork so tender and absolutely tasty 😋 my husband and I shared a seafood combo all the food was fried perfectly with good season. We also had the hefty appetizer of alligator bites that were by far some the most tenderest we've had with good season and clean taste . No one complained about their orders or the service. Great job 👏 you guys will see us back bc Im getting a steak next time lol.

They've been a stable in Abbeville for nearly a century for good reason. My best friend has even went on record to officially declare they're the best oysters in all of Acadiana. I think he's got a point!

I love Cajun food but do not like shrimp. Thank you Dupuy's for making the BEST chicken and sausage gumbo for folks like me. Also had the tuna steak and oysters, all delish!

Y'all Dupuy's is SOOO GOOD! I really enjoyed the bargain priced lunch special stuffed shrimp roasted red pepper pasta. The service was great. The owner came by our table several times making sure we were satisfied. The restaurant including the bathrooms were immaculately clean. The inside of the restaurant is so much bigger than it appears on the outside. I can't wait to return to try many more dishes on their menu. My table of nine people enjoyed everything and even bought t-shirts. 😁 I will be back soon! A visit to Abbeville is incomplete without stopping by Dupuy's! I've been here on multiple occasions, and I personally recommend the Alligator Bites, Oysters, and the Seafood Platter. These dishes are an absolute must-try for anyone looking to enjoy authentic and delicious seafood.

Dined in Wednesday night for all you can eat fried fish. Everything was phenomenal my server Mackenzie was great. We drove in from out of town. The manager was very friendly. She passed by to check on us to make sure everything was perfect. The staff was very friendly as well, very welcoming when walking in and walking out. Another plus was the bathrooms very clean!

The gator, tuna and grilled shrimp were delicious. The seafood platters are not worth getting. There wasn't any wait time, so thats always nice!

Don't Miss Out! We were staying at Cypremort State Park and decided to take a seafood road trip to Abbeville, a 43 mile drive. Have mercy! Everything about Dupuys made it 100% worth the drive. It was a few minutes after 2pm so seating was only available in the bar area. What a blessing that turned out to be. We ordered Oysters Deville for an appetizer. Be sure to squeeze the lemon on them. They were cooked perfectly and SO tasty. We love oysters any way you can cook them so when I am here to tell you, these were amazing, trust me. Because that was a lot, we both ordered appetizers. I went with the Eggplant Abbeville and my husband ordered the Combo Appetizer. All I can say is God Bless South Louisiana and the Gulf Of America. The food was more than a 10 rating . The Combo plattter shrimp, oysters and fish were fried and so fresh and no greasy dive flavor at all. I've been all over the nation and I'm here to tell you, you cannot fake gulf shrimp and you can't find any better anywhere. My Eggplant Abbeville was also amazing. That sauce, so flavorful, but not so rich you couldn't eat much. Now there was only one little set back to our entire experience....our waitress, Bayle. She was on top of her game 100%, so much so that we were impressed that she was so young and such a hard worker, a rarity these days. Consequently we questioned her and found out she's a nursing student and it was her last day of employment. Sad to hear that because we had already decided we would return. At the end of the day....don't miss out on this small town gem. Food, service, ambience, the whole package. Go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Top notch food. Fried shrimp best in area. Ribeyes were good. Could have been thicker Main area opens at 5. We were too early for that. Had tables in bar. But for me the bar was too loud. Service was spot on

I love Dupuy's and always have. The best fried local seafoods on the planet. One BIG caveat: Stick to traditional offerings like fried oysters, shrimp, catfish, crab claws, etc. or the gumbos, which are excellent. I have also had a decent steak here, but IDK if that is a current menu item. Remember that this place is World famous for fresh & fried OYSTERS ! Avoid yuppie stuff or non-local items. Call first to make sure they are open. Dupuy's is consistently the best of several neighborhood choices, no matter what your radio told you. Rick

Grilled Oysters Rockefeller, are 10 out of 10. Get the Dozen, you'll just order more, if you get half. My wife got the Bayou Tuna, well done. And I got the Stuffed Shrimp, over angel hair pasta, with Roasted Red Pepper cream sauce. Tuna was perfectly cooked, and the pastas were delicious. Both the white wine cream sauce, and the Roasted Red Pepper sauce.

Dupuys was the first stop of this year's culinary expedition to New Orleans from Houston and to race in the 2024 Shamrockin Run New Orleans. The first stop was the highlight of this year's trip: Large and delicious gulf raw oysters, perfectly prepared friend seafood, friendly, and precise service from the waitstaff. The evening could not have been better. A cautionary note: The servings are very large; my mate's oyster po-boy, served cut in half, was huge and is easily shareable. If you are any where near Abbeville, Dupuys is a can't miss.

Always great. We had lunch there a few weeks ago and everything was amazing. Bonus is a walk around downtown Abbeville.

Good food. Good service. My husband loves their open flame cooked oysters. We go early because it can be very busy. The wait was not too long. Long enough for a drink!

Dupuy's Seafood & Steak has been in business since 1869! You don't have a 150 year old restaurant unless you have mastered the business of serving Cajun Seafood to generations of happy customers. Seafood is certainly the star attraction at this Abbeville eatery located on the banks of the Vermillion River. They are known for their fresh oysters, whose shells pave much of their parking lot. These are available in many forms, but for the best experience I think you have to go with them raw on the half-shell. Shrimp is also a gulf favorite, and can be had several ways. Crawfish is also nice, especially when available boiled in season. Then there are the many types of fin fishes... However, steaks and other Cajun fare are also on the menu. Gumbo is not to be missed, and they have some spectacular salads for a lighter meal. Po-Boys are great here, if you are looking for a sandwich-centered meal. I usually am in Abbeville at lunchtime, so I save some and get a wider variety by just ordering whatever is the lunch special of the day. This varies from day to day and week to week, but is always excellent. Last time I stopped in it was Seafood Quesadillas with a Side Salad, which included lots of shrimp and crawfish! Amazing, and only about ten dollars. Service is always great, and the interior is comfortable and inviting. I really can't speak to the dessert, as I have never had room for any.

Best crab cake in Vermilion parish! Happy bar area and great service staff. Music some nights- check their schedule.

The best hands down! No matter what you order you will not be disappointed! So if you go and can't make up your mind on what to pick, that's ok because it will be delicious either way!

We had the seafood salad for lunch. It was amazing. Portions we spot on. Service was great the waitress interacted with us. It was a great overall experience. Have to try it for dinner.

I love coming here when I'm in town. This place has great food. Everything I have had from here has never disappointed. The fried alligator bites are always cooked to perfection. I usually get a po boy and they are always stuffed full and the bread is soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The staff here is also very good. They constantly check in you to see if they can get you anything and everyone greets you and checks to see how your meal is. The prices are very reasonable and you get a good amount of food. I never thought I would post about a bathroom but I feel like this had to be mentioned. I was so impressed with how clean it was you can tell that they truly care about the customer here. Definitely one of the top places!

Very welcoming staff and the atmosphere was great. Jennsy was an excellent server. We got the Oysters devillier, the Surf and Turf, and a half and half plate of fried catfish and shrimp. All of it was worth the drive from Carencro! We will be coming back.

Came upon this through yelp while visiting family here. Getting in was a little tricky since I saw 3 different doors to get into but we managed to get in haha Their oyster platter was so good for a pretty good price. $21 for about 21-22 pieces of oyster we served with French fries. Nothing special about the fries though It was my first time having boudin and I must say, they were tasteful! The seas food gumbo is nothing like in Texas but it was pretty pricey for a tiny cup for only $6 Be sure to check in on yelp to try their banana pudding!

Hands down the BEST food around, don't forget to get some crab cakes. Best food in Louisiana and the nicest staff and owners.

Never fails. Been one of the best stops since I was a kid. I missed this place so much. Their crab cakes are the best ever. All lump crab meat. Worth every penny and worth the hour drive!

I've heard great things about this place. I decided to try it tonight with a group of friends, it was a 45 minute wait- no big deal. Waited 30 until we were called that our table was ready. The drink was good, and we ordered oysters that were fresh. But... Our waiter walked away more than twice after taking half of the tables order. I ordered a steak medium rare, the steak was grey along the two others that ordered the same meal- one was almost raw. One of our friends ordered Rockefeller oysters and they tasted completely different than ours, they tasted like tomatoes. The manager said that she would take our steaks and bad dozen of oysters off the menu, and they were just discounted half off. Not impressed with this place and their management is poor.

Fried Catfish so good! Lite, tender and more than enough! I ordered the baked potato fully loaded, YUM! and a side salad . Excellent service! Absolutely recommend!

Great food and great service with a smile! We had the Boudin Balls for an app, the Crab Cake Dupuy, the Crawfish Combo with roasted veggies, and Bread Pudding for dessert. Everything was amazing! Also, thank you Jade for making it such a great experience! If you have the chance to check out Dupuys, you definitely should!

We hadn't eaten here in 20 years but the food was every bit as good as we remembered. And the desserts are not to be missed. The table's favorite was the fried banana thing. Service was also outstanding.

Oh my word! Lunch was wonderful. The guys had the broiled oysters followed with po'boys and grilled fish with crawfish Étouffée. I had the lunch special, fried fish with rice and the same Étouffée. Every bite was so good, we all ate until we were stuffed. Then when we thought another bite would be too much, we split a bread pudding. I would recommend Dupuys to anyone. The waitstaff was friendly and was vert attentive. If we lived closer, I am sure we would put Dupuys in our go-to restaurant rotation.

Stopped here on my way through town on a recommendation for somewhat upscale Cajun food I got at Lowe's. Was told it was the best crab cakes and oysters around. I didn't go for the oysters but the crab cakes are definitely the best on both sides of the Mississippi. Very thin layer of breading over a solid, succulent crab meat patty held together with an amazing béchamel sauce. Topped off with mildly spiced crawfish tails and wonderful white wine and caper sauce.

Dupuy's is wonderful!!! A short drive from Lafayette and suddenly you are in small town Louisiana. I'm a visitor so keep that in mind but...driving from the relative sprawl of Lafayette, arriving in Abbeville is like small town Louisiana from an old movie. Dupuy's is small and old and homey. We were seated and told our waiter we were visiting from California and would like some suggestions. Immediately he pulled a chair from a nearby table, spun it around and sat down to talk to us about what we might want. The manager noticed and he came over, sat down, and started to talk to us also. We got plenty of advice, not only about Dupuy's menu but also about the region. So friendly! We ended up with one of the best crabcakes I've ever had, crispy on the outside, tender and full of crab inside, a nice sauce. Followed that with a salad and then a bowl of great gumbo. Washed down with a very cold Abita beer. Can't get more Cajun than that! This is worth the drive. Don't miss Dupuy's, seriously. A hundred years old and going strong.

My family and I went have lunch and we were pleasantly surprised , as all our dishes were excellent! Service was excellent and the prices were not bad. We all talked about how good all our dishes were because it so hard to please everyone. Even the kids enjoyed the food! We recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a nice place to eat in Abbeville.

This is mostly a seafood restaurant, well, most everything in this area is seafood though there are a few landlubber choices available, of which I partook. The cheeseburger I had was quite good and surprised me a lot. Fries on the other hand were salted very heavily and not my thing. The restaurant seems to be mostly geared towards seafood and was very nicely appointed on the inside. Will repeat as everyone was quite happy and cheerful.

If you're in Abbeville this is the place to eat. I've had everything on the menu and everything is awesome. You can't go wrong with a steak. Med rear and you can cut it with a butter knife. I miss the eggplant with the filet and crab. I wish they would bring it back but I can't complain. It's so darn good!

Get the alligator bites and boudin balls! That's about the best things there. It can get busy, and sometimes the service and get a little slow but it is a really good place overall!!

I'm from here but have been gone for 20+ years. Dupuys does not disappoint. Food is served hot which means I don't have to worry about bacteria growth.

This is a wonderful place filled with great people and food. I am here visiting from PA, and Dupuy speaks volume on real Louisiana southern home hospitality! Got to give this place a try. You wont regret it!

Dupuys has been a great Abbeville seafood restaurant for years! My favorite is the Fried fish roulade topped with crawfish étouffée and their Ribeyes!! They have a nice bar section to hang out with friends!

Daily lunch specials are great. On Fridays it's usually a catfish roll with crawfish etouffee poured over it. Everything else is great also.

The staff was very friendly the crab cake dupuy and fried fish was great and our waiter made sure that our drinks stayed full. The quanity of the serving was worth the price. Me and my friend enjoyed it Thanks K. Persilver

Food is great. I highly recommend Annette!! She is our favorite waitress. We never have to ask for refills, she goes the extra mile & even fills our to go boxes for us! We ask for her every time!!!!

Great quality food. Great service. Good price for quality raw oysters. The chocolate brownie desert was to dry for me.

First time here. Immediately after walking in, the guy I was with said hi to some folks at another table, as well as one of the managers. When they talk about knowing your customers, this is one of those types of diners. The food was a good mix of what I'd expect from Cajun food. The portions were a good size, and the prices seemed to be great for what we ordered. While there were some platters that did have I high price, I suspect that those would have served more than just one person. I had some of the gator bites to start with, and didn't realize that the gater poboy also consisted of more gator bites. Not complaining, it was good food, just a bit of a fried food overload (my fault...) I really liked the sweet potato fries as well, could tell that those were fresh. Everyone else with me finished their plates, so I assume that they were either really hungry or liked what they had, but I'm betting the latter.

While I am not a big fan of all of that fried Cajun crap, Dupuys served up some very good FCC as well as a host of other pretty good dishes in a nice classy S. Louisiana atmosphere. Highlights of the meal were as follows: - Raw Oysters - fresh and good - Oyster stew - all right I guess - Fried Onion rings - Off the chain. Best rings I've ever had. - Fried Shrimp - OK - Fried Oysters - not cooked enough for my taste and a little greasy. - Casear salad - exceptional. Great dressing and fresh greens. - Bread pudding - very good. I could not stop eating it. While Abbeville is a bit of a hike from Lafayette, Dupuys is worth the drive. I would eat here again.

Stopped for lunch and enjoyed a hearty bowl of seafood gumbo but the overall experience left me flat. First off the broth could have used some zing, maybe a little more pepper or seasoning. Service was o.k. but the server didn't alert me to the lunch specials. And just wondering with prices on the high side can they afford to upgrade the gravel parking lot?
