We visited this restaurant for lunch on the last day of the wine festival. The entrance is marked by a large wooden wine barrel, which makes it easy to spot. The outdoor courtyard was already full when we arrived, and my friend and I were lucky to get the very last available table. From our seats, we could see the nearby carnival rides, which added to the festive atmosphere. We ordered the restaurant’s two signature main dishes — both were flavorful, though the portions were a bit too large for us to finish. We also tried the wine recommended on the menu, which turned out to be good.

What I liked This place offers a great experience with traditional German cuisine. The menu is solid, with a wide variety of dishes, drinks, wines, and liquors. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and nicely presented. The outdoor terrace is spacious, perfect for warm days, and the indoor seating has a cozy wooden interior that must be especially nice during winter. The service was good, and we were lucky to get a table right away, even though the place is usually very busy. Portions are generous. I was very hungry that day, and still had trouble finishing my plate. The food was delicious overall. What could be improved One detail to keep in mind is that portion sizes can be surprisingly large, and unless you clarify that with the staff, they might bring you what they consider a “regular” portion, which can be quite a lot. Additionally, portion size directly affects the price, so if you are not specific when ordering, you might end up with a much larger and more expensive dish than expected. A clearer explanation of portion and pricing options would definitely help avoid confusion. That said, everything else was excellent, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a hearty and authentic German meal.

This was my 2nd visit to this nice restaurant. The design is unique in the form of a gigantic wooden barrel offering a traditional local interior and a large terrace. Food is local and traditional and I most loved the sausages with sauce and mashed potatoes accompanied by good local wine and beer.

This place has such a great vibe, and eating dinner inside a “barrel” was a fun experience. The service was top notch… our weight spoke English and was super attentive to our every need. The food was great, and the restaurant was immaculate. Definitely arrive early, because this place fills up very quickly after opening. And call well in advance (days or weeks) if you do wish to sit inside one of the barrels. I would go back, for sure.

1 of the dishes weren’t for my taste buds. Couldn’t tell if the sausages were raw or just a very off flavour. But not for me, other 2 dishes were good. Some reason my salad arrived separate much earlier than everyone else, (10 minutes). Sign outside says “wait to be seated” waited roughly 5 minutes with a queue behind us. Then someone came and told us to just go find somewhere to sit. Was very difficult to get the bill.

Our greeting and service was fantastic! Call ahead to put your name on the list, and it might be fun to request the wine barrel wall booths. We sat at an open table because the booths were all full. Our server recommended the Rhineland Pfalz sampler platter. It was delicious. We topped it off with desserts of apple strudel with ice cream and Riesling wine sorbet.

What a wonderful experience at the Dürkheimer fass. This was my second visit here, and each time, it was remarkable. The food was spectacular. The service is awesome and friendly. The drink I recommend is the Schörle it's the drink of choice in the region

Amazing German cuisine, courteous staff, good ambience make it a perfect setting for weekend lunch/dinner. Would recommend to reserve a table in advance. A must visit place! You can also plan a wine tour of the region.
