Dutch Kills

Came in late night for a nightcap. It was a week night and thriving. I ordered a whiskey and the ice and presentation were amazing. The drink itself was a perfect blend of sweet and bitter. The service was not fast but for a busy night, I thought it was super. Staff was friendly. I didn't get to visit long at the place, but would love to visit in the future and it had great dark decor and vibes.

Where else to end the evening with a night cap then at Dutch Kills. Parking is atrocious no matter what you do here so you're best off just walking from wherever you are. Even if it's from Flushing (half kidding). Dutch Kills is one of those places where you feel like everyone knows your name. But you can't just get a beer here. The cocktails are where it's at. And with an ever revolving menu of fun and unique cocktails, you're sure to find something you like. I was boring on my most recent visit and asked for my usual old fashioned. It was exactly what I needed to end the evening and made to perfection. Going to keep a look out at their calendar as their music lineup looks dope. They have live bands and DJs featured throughout the month. This is such an awesome spot for LIC to have. You just gotta look for that door, go through and you'll see what I'm taking about.

Came here after dinner for a nightcap with 2 of my friends and were seated quickly at a booth on a Tuesday. Service was quick for the drink orders and continued to check in including refilling water. Drinks were also superb. Love that the drinks vary based on the season as there were quite a few hot drinks this winter.

Came here on a Saturday evening. Cocktails are very good. My favorite was the Mai Tai (not in the menu). Pretty chill and laid back atmosphere. The service could have been better, but I think there was only one waitress for the entirety of the upstairs.

Came out to support a friends band and had a blast! This place puts out some serious mixed drinks that are made perfectly. Dutch kills is a great place. It's furnished nicely, dimly lit, styled appropriately, and not too loud. The staff here are truly artisans in drink making. A perfect date not spot. Try them out!

Feels like a secretive place. The ambiance is very intimate and nice dim light. Love the setting. The drinks? Drinks are amazinggggggg. My bf brags about the drinks here and he was not wrong. This place does not disappoint. The staff was also very nice and engaging.

RATING: 7.6/10 PRO TIP: Go upstairs for a chiller, quieter vibe. Stay downstairs where the music is for a more lively vibe. For the liveliest vibe, keep walking and sit by the bar where most people seemed to crowd around. Unassuming outside, lots of space inside. Great place to get a drink without much fuss or a wait. There's a lot to choose from given their menu with organized details of their drinks, which is cutely assembled in the form of a booklet reminiscent of a comic book. It's dimly lit and a nice intimate vibe but also lively especially by the bar. The drinks are better than you might think, and are quite interesting too. Haven't been here in ages and it still rocks. Speakeasy type bar with a very unique and interesting menu. I would describe it as a bartender's bar. Don't be afraid to ask for recs on what to drink based on your taste preferences. Most cocktails are $17. Happy imbibing!

Dutch Kills is a go to cocktail bar for me. They have a great Moscow mule and I tried the Army Navy which was also good. They have HH from 5-7pm. Cute cozy booths good for a date. Upstairs is Debbie's that is the same menu but a little different vibe and live music. The service is quick and friendly.

I've been to Dutch Kills a number of times and recently went to Debbie's, the music venue upstairs. Service here is good. The drinks are made with extreme care, so they take quite a while. There is no real food here, and they don't seem to allow BYOF anymore, so eat before you come. The drinks both upstairs and downstairs are great. I recently had the Basquiat, which was a well-balanced citrus drink, and a dirty gin martini, which was made excellently. Dutch Kills makes excellent drinks and is a staple of the neighborhood - highly recommend.

Gives off a speakeasy vibe without actually being one. The old fashioned is classic, strong & top notch.

5/5 for our waiter alone. I came with friends who arrived at various different times. We didn't reserve a table but he made space for us to sit comfortably right away regardless. What drew us to this bar was the advertisement on the menu sharing that they can custom make you any drink from a huge database that they have. My friends definitely enjoyed each custom drink that they made and they were all SO good! If I were a bigger drinker I'd enjoy it even more lol. Definitely a highlight of the neighborhood.

Friend took us out to this speakeasy bar near his apartment and i gotta say, it's the exact vibe i was looking for on a Friday night! Bartender was helpful and crafted every cocktail we ordered with perfection. Would definitely come back here again to try their other drinks if i'm in the area :)

We came on a Sunday night and it was not crowded, but filled up pretty quickly. This place is DARK to the point that it was hard to read the menu (aside from the help of the candlelight) but I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. After watching the video on Eater about how they source & make the ice, I was intrigued and not disappointed. It's so clear that you can see through it, and I can tell that they really care about the cocktail creations. I would definitely come back, maybe for happy hour (which makes some drinks $15) as it's normally pretty pricey.

Popped in here after an invite, on a late night after work. My first experience at Dutch Kills, after dark, was such a cool experience. I honestly had no idea this place existed and I've been working just a few buildings away from it for years. Don't know how I missed the painted door advertising Dutch Kills for as long as I did but I definitely did. I was invited by a coworker for drinks. Inside is nice and dark and woody with vintage tiles, very much like a speakeasy. We ordered Old Fashioned's and experimented with a few cocktails from the drink menu. The Old Fashioned's were prepared perfectly boozy and tasty. The cocktails were cute enough but didn't leave much of an impression. Our server was super pleasant and didn't rush us as we chatted, tumbled over with tipsy giggles and nursed our drinks. A nice touch to the night were the handcrafted, crystal clear ice blocks, served inside of every drink. Very nice. Another plus was the fresh, clean, spotless, fully stocked ladies room. That's a major big deal for me. I really enjoyed my night at Dutch Kills. I promised my drinking partner that I wouldn't start popping in there for drinks without them because we had such a vibe. Promises are made to be broken.

Can get quite busy as it's the only speakeasy in LIC with solid cocktails and vibes. They have happy hour specials if you go early right when they open. Seasonal drinks on the menu. Very dark so takes some adjusting to the eyes.

Dutch Kills is a cool bar in Long Island City. They make good cocktails and the staff is friendly. The dim lighting and candles create an intimate vibe, which is hard to nail - classy without being pretentious. It's similar to Attaboy in that regard. I got the Rum Runner there once, asking for a funky, sweet-tart rum drink. The cocktail they delivered was spot-on for what I wanted - a tiki style drink that wasn't overly creamy, milky, sweet or acidic. Just perfect. The service was attentive without being overbearing, happy to chat about the drinks. Overall, it's a great place.

Dutch Kills has been bringing me to LIC before there was anything else to do in the area. Nowadays, LIC Is is a microcosm of activity including bars, museums, and great food! Even with all these new additions, Dutch kills still is one of my main haunts in the area. The outside is very understated, resembling a speakeasy of sorts. Inside is just dark enough to be casual and chic, but at the same time, intimate. There are booths as well as an actual bar area towards the back, which turned out to be absolutely perfect. As the night went on, and the drinks kept pouring, I felt like I was in my own world with the very notable exception: when the waitress (who was friendly and was very atentative), come over and ask us if we're ready for another round... which of course, we always were! I tried several several different drinks. while my companion went with some kind of punch that she was having (delish!) I did grow beyond tipsy so I don't remember all the names of the drinks I had but... I do remember having a Dark and Frosty which is a frozen version of a Dark and Stormy, which was absolutely delicious, and I also seem to remember ordering the Pisco punch, which is also beyond delicious and refreshing. I've never had a bad drink in this location, to be quite honest, so if you are stumped on what to order,don't be afraid to ask your bartender or waitress for recommendations. If you're looking for a quiet night conversation with just a few friends, or maybe even a more rowdy time at the bar with top-notch cocktails that even contain prtfect ice (you will see!) This is your destination without a doubt!

Where do I start? This place is a cocktail science lab. I was amazed and stayed until my body say, "NO MASS"! I tried 5-6 different cocktails and ended the night with a classic Old Fashion, which was perfect. They are masters of mixology, and joy to enjoy! Oh, and the javelina was one of my treats (pic attached). Great service. Nice looking old school bar....again, drinks of the masters.

One of the best cocktail bars in NYC! After all these years, Dutch Kills never disappoints. Their happy hour is still one of my favorites - $14 house cocktails, none of which are slouches. From a drink standpoint, I can always count on its creativity, precision, variety, and deliciousness. Some of the best quality ice you'll see at a bar too! There are private booths closest to the entrance, and then a beautiful bar in the back with a good number of seats along the counter. There's some nice natural light during daylight hours in the bar area, although the front stays pretty dimly lit and intimate. This has to be one of my all time faves, and deserves to be on every New Yorker's cocktail bar hit list.

I did not try any of the food. Was passing by and thought I would check it out given its history. The ambiance is very cool/chill. Service at the bar was spectacular and the bartenders were incredibly friendly. A must-stop if you're close. It's shockingly small so can only assume it fills quickly on the weekends.

Dutch Kills' Spring 2022 menu slaps as always. The Acapulco Heat is incredible, and I loved the frozen grasshopper as well. Before I forget and Spruce goose were also hits among our party. Plus, they have potato chips and sour cream and onion dip now! Will be back for the frozen blue Hawaii.

Ambiance is incredible. But it feels like there's been staff turnover and it affects the experience. The old team was really really nice. The new team treats us like it's a privilege to just be there. We are paying for the drinks.

I can't recommend this place to anyone. From the moment I walked in, everyone--from the staff to the patrons--was incredibly rude. The space is way too small, and to make matters worse, there's a waitlist for every single table. Seriously? The bartender made things even more awkward by announcing people's personal information out loud for everyone to hear. It was uncomfortable, to say the least. The vibe in there was just weird overall, and the crowd didn't help--patrons were mean, and it felt like a bad scene all around. Definitely not a spot I'll be returning to.

Such an interesting find. I had no idea it was there right across from our hotel, and we enjoyed the cocktails and the bartender as well as the food. Fantastic spot.

A trip to LIC for a 2-year old's birthday party presented the perfect opportunity to finally try Dutch Kills. I thought it lived up to the hype. Our server was super knowledgeable about the extensive menu and off menu offerings - he gave us thoughtful recommendations ("this is what I would drink first...") and delivered on complexity and surprising flavors. Because we went off menu, can't give you the drink names, but would say to just go for it with a recommendation based on what you like or want to drink. My only complaint was that it was really, really dark - we were there at 5ish on a Saturday, and so a bit more lighting would have been nice. But that is easily forgiven, especially as they were so accommodating of a stroller (which is OK until 10pm).

Nice cocktail selection in a dark, popular spot. Service was exceptional. They keep the cocktails coming and the water jug full.

Cocktails were good but the bartender we were interacting with was rude and announced our tip (standard amount) very loudly and passive aggressively to take a jab. Obviously not a very socially aware person and not someone that should be working this role. Strange af and could easily have talked to us more privately about it at least and asked if there was a problem with the service, not that hard to do lil bro

I happened to stop by here for the first time when I was in the area, and I'm so glad I did! I've now been back a few times since and it has continued to be a great experience every time. The interior is dim and candle lit and the music was an eclectic playlist with alot of fun crowd pleasers mixed in. The interior is not very big, so I recommend making a reservation if you can (especially so you can get the full inside experience). My go-to here is bartender's choice drinks. Whether you have a long list of ingredients you like/dislike or just a few specific flavors you're feeling, the bartender will pick a drink that's perfect for you. And they never miss! (If they did though, they're happy to switch it out for something you love.) I've gotten to try so many drinks here that I've never heard of, and I've found myself a few new favorites. A true tucked away gem in LIC! Dutch Kills is a remarkable cocktail bar with an eclectic selection of drinks (and bartenders who are extremely skilled). I personally enjoy getting the bartender's choice - you describe flavors and liquor preferences to the bartender while entrusting them to curate the drink to match your description. The atmosphere is dim and candle-lit, which feels very cozy while you sip on a delicious cocktail. I've been here several times and have noticed that the service and quality of drinks is always consistent. Highly recommend coming by here for happy hour or post-dinner drinks!

This no longer serves food due to their renovations upstairs, but you can bring outside food in. Happy hour runs from 5pm to 7pm, but it only pertains to a few cocktails, which is going to still cost $14. That's very expensive happy hour. The drink itself is very good if not the Moscow mule is the BEST Moscow mule I've had, but half of it was ice. I think it's so expensive. The fruit on top is a slice of candied ginger, which for ginger lovers is great. Our server was very nice. The bar is chill, rustic, and very, very dark. Not sure if I would come back since it's just so expensive and has no food when I've heard amazing things about their bar food.

Not good cocktails. "Around the horn" drink tasted like something had spoiled in it. Mule was straight up raw ginger juice and no other flavor. Beer selection very limited.

Cocktails were great. Service was slow and not friendly. I brought 12-15 people on a Wednesday, we arrived between 5:15 and 6, not long after they open. I went by the evening prior and gave them a heads up... unfortunately they didn't make any additional arrangements to accommodate. When paying $14 - $18 per cocktail, I would expect more.

The music was on point. They had Motown, soul, and all the good records of the 70s playing. The ambiance was what I would come back here for. The cocktails rotate seasonally. I got one that was very ginger forward, which is good if you love ginger and... you will live if not. I did. Happy hour for cocktails ($14 instead of $17) is from 5-7pm. The back area bar seating is my favorite. There's some natural skylight if you come early enough and it's cool to see the sunset light peaking through to go to a red, cinematic dusky red.

I felt like I was walking through The Batcave at first, until I realized that I was passing by quite a few booths available at which to sit. For me, the payout was emerging from that to the fun bar area in the back. And that wall o'liquor was particularly impressive. I liked seeing a tag underneath each bottle immediately identifying the cost of a pour. The bartenders are friendly, the menu cocktails are very interesting, and the food was unexpectedly tasty as well. My turkey pesto sandwich was quite thick and loaded with pesto, which justified the price of which I had previously been uncertain. It can get a little cramped if it gets to a "Standing Room Only" situation, but for a place like this I will certainly stand for it.

It's a top rated bar in NYC. The cocktails are strong and not too sweet. There's a bouncer to get in. It gets much busier as the night goes on. There are only bar snacks not food.

I have been here in a long time and came with my friend - drinks are still top notch. Sitting at the bar and enjoying a drink is really enjoyable.

Cocktails kill here! Had a great experience here (part of a 2 bar run) with my girls. Vibe was amazing. Bar took a bit long with the drinks though hence a star deducted.

Such cool vibes and very strong drinks here! The bartender was kind enough to make a drink of my liking and brought out a tropical, creamy, tamarind infused drink that got me buzzed and was super easy to drink. The vibes here are definitely immaculate and I can't wait to return!

This is such a cute speakeasy. However, I would not necessarily come back because of the service. It isn't worth it. Pros: + Really fun vibe + True speak easy feel + Great for dates and Girls' Night Out + Good variety of cocktails Cons: - Limited seating - Staff takes a long time to make drinks - Difficult to get a table. I wouldn't have had an issue with this normally. However, there were larger tables that went empty for quite some time. - Feels like you are rushed out as soon as you get there.

I've heard this bar is supposed to be one of the best places in NYC. To be honest, I wasn't impressed by their drinks. My drink was too gingery and it didn't taste good. However, I was surprised by how good their sandwich was! The Caprese sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It was huge and very satisfying. I will definitely come back for their sandwich.

Great cocktail bar with speakeasy vibes. Seating inside is pretty limited with a few booths in the front but there are also seats by the bar in the back as well as very narrow standing room. There are also 4 or 5 outdoor tables in heated spaces on the sidewalk. All the tables were taken around 7:30pm on a Saturday, but we were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar after standing for only a few minutes. The cocktails were excellent and were about $17 each. I had a couple of the Spring seasonal cocktails which were okay, but the Old Fashioned was absolutely top notch and I would highly recommend.

Cool bar, friendly bartenders. Though I preferred my drinks at the Beast Next Door (about a block over). Well crafted drinks. We enjoyed being sat at the bar.

so happy to checked this off of my list! the place is super cute and intimate! the layout is a bit confusing, you will see some seating as soon as you go in, then keep walking and you will see the bar and host. in the brief glance i took of the bar, it looks very well stocked with plenty of spirits to please and lift every spirit. i also felt secure that they ask for vaxx records since we are in such close quarters. we got their house cocktails (Dueling Cavalier, Obvious Choice) and some classics (Old Fashioned, Negroni, Penicillin, and Aviation). all of them were very well-made. the Dueling Cavalier has banana and chocolate liqueurs and was super tasty. the Obvious Choice had mezcal, passionfruit, cinnamon syrup. i definitely tasted the smokiness from the mezcal and sweet, brightness of passionfruit. i thought i hated Negroni, but oh my, Dutch Kills blew my mind and converted me! the cocktails here are IMPECCABLE! service was great and we were well taken care of. so happy to have a place like Dutch Kills here and i can't wait to go back!

- call ahead, they close at random times - tasty drinks - good and friendly service - good salad salad was very saucy - that Pina colada is nothing like you've never had you can't leave without trying this the bartender said the mojito was better and refreshing - I also recommend bartenders choice - three drinks got me lit up - the soundtrack can't be beat its hard to explain, but it is really groovy I shazaam'd all the songs and had a fun trip all the way home
