This cafe offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a great spot for a casual outing or a quick indulgence. I recently visited during a winter and tried their Hot Cocoa and Loaded Brownie, and here’s my take: The Hot Cocoa was delightful—a perfectly balanced blend of cocoa and sugar that wasn’t too overpowering but still managed to be rich and satisfying. It’s the kind of drink that’s ideal for a chilly day or when you’re in the mood for some comfort. As for the Loaded Brownie, it was okay. While the brownie was generously portioned and topped, it leaned a bit too much on the sweet side for my taste. It didn’t quite hit the mark compared to the hot cocoa but could still appeal to those who love very sweet desserts. One standout aspect of Dyer’s Cafe is their inclusion of vegetarian options, which is always a welcome feature for those with dietary preferences or restrictions. It’s nice to see a place catering to a variety of tastes and needs. The service was friendly, and the ambiance was relaxed, making it a pleasant place to unwind. While there’s room for improvement in some of their dessert offerings, I would definitely recommend giving their hot cocoa a try if you visit. It’s worth stopping by for a warm treat or a quick bite!

Locals advised me to steer clear of the main location on Beale Street due to the parking and tourism, and instead visit this location in Collierville. I'm so glad they did because the Town Square was absolutely beautiful and I loved the historic spot the restaurant was in! The burger was fantastic and cooked perfectly. It was everything I imagined it would be. The young waitstaff were similarly enjoyable and very attentive. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Memphis!

Google
It's not the worst of the places to be but the food was extremely greasy..... It was my first time by the way not that anyone would care. I've been robbed out of my appetite.... I finished one of the burgers to find myself spitting out the other one in my to go box. I expected my fries to be crispy but they were drenched in vegetable oil.... Yuck 🤢. Better Lunch next time maybe I'll try the Desserts or something.. Freddy's not the same as this place but they do the exact same thing but Freddy's got shoe string fries and I hate it.

Was greeted immediately upon entering given the choice of seating. It is so classic inside and the food oh my gosh the food was so tasty. Staff extra friendly. Plus there is a beautiful park across the street with trains you can go inside and Explorer. But the burger was cooked to order.

Google
First time here. The only reason I marked four stars on the atmosphere is because it's a bit of a cramped place when it gets busy. Other than that, people are great and the food is always top notch. I got a chicken salad sandwich and my husband got a burger that was also stacked with sliced Polish sausage. Very tasty

Google
Super cool atmosphere and friendly waitress, Krista! Sat outside and enjoyed the loaded bacon & cheese fries with our burgers! Bacon and Swiss burger was awesome and will definitely be returning! Hope to try the downtown Memphis location sometime, as well! First time trying Dyers and I see why they've been open since 1912!!

Google
I had the catfish basket. The catfish were okay but the fries were soggy and barely warm like they had been under a warmer for quite some time. The coleslaw was good but a very tiny little cup, maybe two fork fulls. I don’t expect I’ll give them a second chance.

Google
Spent $100 and threw away about $60 worth. Patty melt meat was mushy and tasteless. Only ate half. Got tamales to-go and meat looked old and tasted weird. They all went in the trash. We have had great, memorable food previously, but something has changed.

John W.

Yelp
Best hamburgers around Collierville, no doubt. If you looking for a great burger, this is the place.

Yelp
I tried this place a couple of times, and as the saying goes, I won't be made a fool again. I have been twice in about six weeks. I chalked the first visit up as a fluke, but yesterday the food was even worse. The only reason for two stars is how sweet the servers are. Both of the young ladies that waited on me had fantastic smiles, were super friendly, attentive, and helpful. Dyers is lucky to have them! My wife spurred my interest with a visit here with her Mom a while back. She got a chili cheese dog and some onion rings and enjoyed it enough to tell me about it. I have some really fond memories of Dyers. My Dad used to take me to the one in Bartlett as a treat. Back then I remember that the burgers were really freaking good. They were full of flavor and had a bit of a crunchy exterior, like it was actually fried. He freaking loved them!! I was excited to reminisce with a greasy fried burger! Something must happened to the grease on the ride over from Bartlett because this place is not good. It's almost like they are now braised in grease and not fried, is that even a thing?? It's also dirty as hell. You can see in the kitchen from the left side and it's not a good look. Floors, walls, ceiling, hoods, vents, all of it. I can deal with dirty most of the time if the food is worth risking my health. Not here... Dude making my food yesterday was chewing on a straw, with the opposite end that he had already chewed, hanging out of his mouth, while he was cooking my food. Gross in so many ways and also a critical health code violation. Both of my burgers were tasteless and oddly cool. The cheese didn't melt either time. First time the bacon was cooked, yesterday it was only cooked on one side. Zero seasoning unless it washed off in the flavorless grease. Both burgers tasted exactly the same. The first time I had onion rings that were undercooked and still crunchy while all of the breading sloughed off. Yesterday the fries were old, cold, and soggy. To top it off the bottom hamburger bun was hard to the touch, like it sat on a warm surface too long. Hope yours is better than mine was homies, cause I'm done with this one forever!! '24 - 60/100

Yelp
Decided to dine in since it was Christmas week and we were enjoying the downtown festivities. I've been eating McDonald's pretty regularly and I gotta say this is a nice change. So my view may be skewed. Burger was good and greasy. Fries - I didn't like how they all clumped together. Not sure what's going on there. Shake - well the "Oreo and M&M" shake is actually either Oreo or M&M. Not both. So whoever printed the menu was an idiot in my opinion. And the Hair on the tip of my shake straw did not add to the Christmas merriment. Also It didn't come out until I was done with the burger too, which was disappointing but I was hungry and ate a little quicker than I normally would. So I won't count that against them. I did find it Odd how the shake comes in a plastic takeaway cup rather than a tin cup given the old fashion vibe they got going on inside. Go figure. They got kids meals under 11 and senior meals over 65. So that's a nice touch.

Yelp
Looked online and saw they close at 8. Walked in the door at 6:30 and asked to place a to go order. The girl working said we are closing at 7 and kitchen is closed. She gave me serious attitude then took my order. Two burgers, a side of fries and a side of onion rings. Handed me the check and theres almost $6 dollars worth of gratuity added. I asked why and she said bc its a to go order. So I HAVE to tip you for putting burgers in a bag? Thisnis out of control. Shitty service and way over priced. If you want a burger go elsewhere. $39 dollars for two burgers and two sides. Oh and you have to deal with a piss poor attitude as well.

Franchesca R.

Yelp
I was looking for a turkey burger as a healthier option, they checked to see if they had which kind of made me wonder how long they had that in the freezer for. Cringe. Prices V's quality was pretty underwhelming sadly. The girls working the counter are super nice and I really liked the vintage feel of the place. Onion rings were huge, nice light batter however suuuuper greasy, I'm sorry to say I did not enjoy.

Heath H.

Yelp
While the food and services is good, who charges $1.14 for tap water. The water wasn't even in a to go cup. May be last visit.

Barbara M.

Yelp
Not sure what has happened to this place. We ate here last night for the first time in a year. Our hamburgers were cold. The cheese was shredded cheddar and was not even melted. Who puts shredded cheddar cheese on a hamburger in a restaurant. We won't be going back here ever again. And oh by the way, they charge you two dollars extra if you use a debit card or a credit card.

Sarah P.

Yelp
Dyers is good, but it's a pretty normal burger joint. Nothing too special here. It's a small space, but always clean. The customer service is good!

Samantha B.

Yelp
I'm not really into burgers and American food much so not much on the menu appeals to me. But if you're looking for a snack, they have some pretty good ones. The fries are pretty good and the milkshakes are delicious. I haven't eaten much here as it all seems really greasy and nothing appeals to me but I wouldn't mind stopping here for dessert. To Try: Chocolate Shake Loved: Milkshake: Stawberry Liked: - Cheeseburger Fries - Dreamsicle (large enough for 2) Ok: - Cookie: Chocolate Chip Disliked: - Tamales

Yelp
We are first timers as we are in the process of moving to the area. We came right before the rush, so we were seated right away. Alexis was very helpful in recommendations for first timers. It's exactly what I wanted, a simple yet juicy flavorful burger. I got the onion rings instead and one of the best rings I've had.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
I visited from out of town and came to this restaurant due to family recommendations. The place itself: cute, old time diner with limited seating, think like a diner from back in the day. Super adorable. The food: nothing too special that I would go out of my way for. The fries were fine, the burger was your typical greasy burger. However, the way they prepare their burgers is cool, in a skillet with "ageless grease". I would come back again if I am in the area and someone suggested it, but I don't think I would go out of my way to come.

Ellen H.

Yelp
Amazing! Absolutely must stop in if you're visiting Memphis and craving a classic smash burger. The Big Papa was a 10/10 burger, although it was slightly too much and I regrettably left a bite or two on the plate. The homemade onion rings and homemade fried pickles were so delicious, and they weren't super greasy or over seasoned like you so often find. Andrea was our server and she was the sweetest, super attentive, and extremely friendly!

Bill C.

Yelp
Great burger & onion rings! Definitely worth trying. Heard the milkshakes are good. Give them a try!

Arthur S.

Yelp
It had the best banana pudding I've ever had and the staff was nice.the burger was really good and the pickles were really good. The ice cream was really delicious.

austin s.

Yelp
this place was fantastic. went here with my girl bestie who i'm in a relationship with and we got the fried pickles to split, i got the bacon burger and she got a grilled cheese and it was nothing short of perfect. this is the best burger in the memphis area. i'm not kidding. i don't take these things lightly. this is my third favorite burger, and i've eaten burgers in a lot of different places. its a cute little old fashioned diner with a small menu but a great vibe. the service was great and i can tell that even when its busier they keep on top of everything. its a little small but it's truly no issue because the seats were spacious and it didnt feel cramped. this was one of the best dining experiences i've had in memphis.

P D.

Yelp
Ordered shakes to drink outside but they gave us plastic to go cups - killed the "experience" of the soda fountain - when I asked her about it she said to let her know next time. Ummmm if I wanted it to go I would have expected the plastic cup

Joel ..

Yelp
Did not have an item on the menu but the waitress was not knowledgeable enough to tell me on the front end, so she took my order but then had to come back and tell me they were out. Forgot to bring my condiments, forgot to bring out the fries, put my side item on my kids plate, told me they were out of mustard but then appeared with mustard. Lol After forgetting so many things actually asked is there anything else we can get you? Yeah, how about the items we ordered! Lol this had to of been the worst experience yet and I'm not even sure they knew what they were doing. Well, thats it for us. We will not return. Oh even had to ask for refill on water. Went 01/01/24

Robert M.

Yelp
Service was great. Onion rings very good. Got the chili cheeseburger are it was good however the chili needs more flavor. It's a little bland. Definitely will be back it's still a good spot

Jim C.

Yelp
Love the food here , and I can assure you they have the best shakes and ice. Ream hands down eat here once a week.

Russ L.

Yelp
The burgers are just good old fashion burgers that you remember from your childhood. The french fries are a greasy kind of good, and it's situated in downtown Collierville old Square which is great for a nostalgic visit

M B.

Yelp
+ Great burgers, onion rings, and service!!! + Military and First Responders discount.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Food was yummy. I disliked that it seemed like the supervisor or owner went out of his way to greet everyone but me. I was alone and just sitting there looking around. I guess they are used to their regulars and want to show them all the love and attention. It made me feel out of place. Food was good though but everything needed more salt.

Craig C.

Yelp
Wouldn't give 1 star but the app requires you choose at least one. Eat at the one on Beale street years ago and wasn't impressed. Thought i would try this one and give them a second chance. Walked in and all the servers were standing in the back talking. One of them finally acknowledged us and told us where to sit. 5 minutes passed and another couple come in and she told them where to sit ( right by us ) they both went to the restroom first then come to sit down with menus already waiting one them. We are still waiting for someone to give us menus at this time. Sit there for another 4-5 minutes and still no menus so we got up and walked out. The only time we were acknowledged was on the way out. one of the servers said have a nice day. 2 strikes and they wont get a chance for a third! I will go somewhere that want my business.

Adria A.

Yelp
Liked the AYCE catfish. The ambiance was cute too. The slaw was good too. We had a very attentive waitress. Not a big place but nice.

Chaney W.

Yelp
Today's food adventure takes us to Collierville for burgers, shakes, and fries. Dyer's has everything one could want as far as the small-town ambiance goes. This small, quaint cafe on the town square has amazing burgers, and my fries were hot, fresh, and looked to be hand cut. The one thing that kept me from giving 4 stars was the disappointing milkshake. It was thin and had very little flavor. Despite, I still recommend this spot for a really good burger.

Kelsey P.

Yelp
We ordered fried catfish fillet dinners with fries and coleslaw. We also ordered a patty melt. The fillets were the smallest I've seen and there were only 3 in the dinner. They were not only small but overcooked. The fries were not good tasting and of an unpleasant texture. Hush puppies were smaller than a golf ball but just as hard and overcooked. Neither fries nor hush puppies tasted fresh but from frozen. The patty melt was good as were the onion rings we ordered with it. Much tastier options can be had of the less than tasteful options at competitors in this city. I won't be returning.

Kayla C.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend stopped in on Saturday for an old fashion bacon burger and milkshakes the atmosphere is so friendly . The food was great if you're into retro Americana. He and I agreed that We'd go back again

Raven B.

Yelp
I finally broke down and tried this for lunch. I was totally surprised at how good it was. I'd always heard good things about it, but you never know. The burger was fresh and cooked perfectly, but I could feel my arteries clogging with each bite from the grease. The onion rings were amazing and I needed about 2 more orders of them. I'll definitely choose this spot for lunch more often.

Haj R.

Yelp
Came back to Dyer's after 2+ years. Had remembered a great greasy burger and went with the Doc's choice. Sadly I was disappointed with my burger as it was burnt and dry ... Not the grease as I had remembered nor was it very good. Read a few of the reviews from the past year and some similar experiences. Thought I was going to get a great burger again but not this time. Hopefully others will have a better experience at this established historical burger joint.

Mike S.

Yelp
on my last trip to Dyer's, and I do mean my last trip, the cheeseburger was good although I can get something comparable in Germantown or Memphis. Whataburger is very good as are Huey's. But I was told the onion rings were the best at Dyer's so I was really looking forward to some. I was amazed at what I was served! Half of them were freshly cooked and delicious. But the others were almost burned and were dried out! They should have been thrown away! I won't be back! It's not worth the trip or the price!

Blake W.

Yelp
Not sure why ratings aren't higher for this place. We were in town and decided we wanted a good burger. We knew the Dyer's name so we decided to stop in. Service was friendly. The burger was great! The onion rings were on point! Extra crispy. Definitely worth the visit. A great little spot on historic Collierville Square.

Phillip B.

Yelp
My wife and I went here last night and all I can say is never again. We went on the recommendation of friends who told us they had really good catfish. The high point is f the visit was the food was good but not as good as we had been told it was and definitely not worth the price they were charging for it and the service was slow despite there not being many people in the restaurant. But these are not the reasons I say never again. First there is the cleanliness. Since the service was slow that gave us time to take notice of the dust caked pictures on the walls. As the evening went on I noticed that the servers were bussing tables and then running orders without washing their hands. Then as we were about to leave I noticed that as some of the servers were bussing the tables they were placing the food baskets on the clean ones in the kitchen rather than washing them first.

Clinton M.

Yelp
The docs bacon burger is delicious. I highly recommend and will be back for another. The fries I received were very bland and didn't have much taste to them. Also tried the strawberry milkshake but the chocolate sundae my wife and son shared was much better. Not a lot of seating so tough if you have a large party.

Merrilee M.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that we really wanted to like this place. We were seated immediately on a Thursday just after noon. Our server was friendly and attentive, and after receiving our drinks we settled on a basket of onion rings, a burger with cheese, a veggie burger with cheese, mushrooms and onions and a chocolate shake. At least a half hour went by, during which we saw others who had come in after us being served their orders. Our waitress brought drink refills and explained that there was only one cook, and the veggie burger takes longer because it is frozen. When we finally received our order, the onion rings were dry and overcooked. My husband's burger had no seasoning, and the cheese was barely melted. Both buns served to us were cold and untoasted, clearly pulled right from their package. When I removed the bun to examine my veggie burger, all I could find was a pile of onions and mushrooms. After more searching, I finally determined that the veggie burger had disintegrated into what I can only describe as paste form. In all my years of ordering veggie burgers, I've never seen anything like this happen. Completely unappetizing. At this point we decided to leave. Our server, while apologetic, removed only the veggie burger and the milkshake (which we had not yet received) from our check. No way we'll return.

Peter G.

Yelp
Bottomline: Dyers burgers have been a Memphis staple for over 100 years. The Cafe on the old Collierville Square embodies everything you want in a old timey Burger Joint. From the 50s decor to the greasy Chili Cheese Fries to the triple patty burgers, Dyers Cafe is a must for burger purists. We moved to Collierville over a year ago and this was our first visit. Milk Shakes, Fried Pickles and Burgers were all consumed. We've since gone back multiple times. The service is always great and willing to accommodate our requests. If your wanting something simple with a touch of nostalgia or are a burger purist, it's hard to beat this place.

Joy A.

Yelp
Dyer's Cafe in the square in Collierville is absolutely adorable! The food is delicious. Everything my family has ordered has been cooked perfectly and tastes so good. We love the decorations and appreciate the extra effort the owner has gone through to keep everyone safe and healthy during COVID. The best part though is the kindness of the staff. They are very attentive and work hard to make sure you have nice dining experience.

Brian L.

Yelp
Dyer's is as much a part of Memphis as Graceland or the Orpheum. I'm not gonna google the history, but they started out a long time ago. I think on Cleveland. I miss the one in Bartlett, but we have Asian Star now and they're cool. What makes Dyer's cool is that they cook this in an iron skillet in the beef fat which has never been replaced since day 1. They just strain it and keep adding to it. Maybe that's kinda gross, but it's good. It does have a unique flavor and it's got that little bit of crunch and lots of grease. The patties are small. I think 3 ounce, so you'll need a triple to get a half pound. I ordered a double and wanted a bit more. It's not an impressive burger by any means and it will not make a spot in my top ten favorite burger joints, but for that once in a while fast food burger with grease and Memphis history, you cannot beat it. P.S. The onion rings were home made and they were great. I was also happy with the price. Thanks Mark. I have a strict criteria for the style of burgers that I personally prefer, and for me, this type of burger does not fit it. I have my list posted in an article on the Memphis Talk feature of yelp. It's not a bad burger but there is no way I would say this is number 1 in the state. Good grief. Look at the burgers at Memphis Mojo and tell me that yours is better. There's no way.

Elijah L.

Yelp
This place looks like a diner straight out of Andy Griffith or some other black and white TV show - pure 50's and 60's based. Me and my family really enjoyed the food. The Fries are too salty on the top but no salt below, The burger was very good.

Kathi E.

Yelp
Great Burgers but by far the Best Onion Rings!!! Owners are very personal and has great service.

Camille W.

Yelp
First time visit to Dyer's Collierville and I enjoy the food and atmosphere. Its very comfortable cozy you can enjoy your conversation its so quiet and food was delicious as well we had a great time.

Julie T.

Yelp
Took a friend from out of town for lunch today. Four of us squeezed into a small spot- Seevice was prompt and wait for freshly cooked to order Patty Melts, Burgers, Fries and Onion Rings was minimal. The Patty Melts were perfect- patties were hot and juicy, bread was toasted and crunchy- one was ordered with mayo and they got it just right. Fries and onion rings delish! Hot and crispy- Diablo burger was eaten quickly and our friend loved his Burger and said the Pepper Jack cheese made is awesome!!! Thanks Dyers- we love this place and love to take our friends when they visit!!! Go to Dyers!

Veronica M.

Yelp
The burgers are legendary - greasy perfection. But don't sleep on the fried pickles, the onion rings, the fries... This location is great, you can walk around the town square of Collierville (such a cute town!) and then stop for a bite and chat with the friendly waitstaff while your burger is cooking. There are so many burger places in Memphis, but Dyer's 100+ year old greasy patties are a favorite!

Michael C.

Yelp
Sometimes I just want a good burger, no frills and a good value. Went Saturday to Collierville and the burger was NOT as good as other visits. NBD, the onion rings were much better. My problem, was being asked what kind of cheese I wanted . I got the swiss. OK, here's the good part, guess how much I was charged for this piece of cheese that I was NOT told of an upcharge. $1.75 for a piece of effing cheese. Well KMA. Upcharge not on menu, nor was I told. I know this is petty, but it really pissed me off. I should have never strayed from Huey's.

Ted W.

Yelp
Had a very enjoyable experience here for lunch today, nestled in the manicured town square the atmosphere is well worth the visit, Along with very good food and friendly waitstaff I will bookmark this place and be back !

Jared A.

Yelp
Great burger place for the whole family. We particularly enjoyed the fries. Great, sweet service. Family-friendly place.

Lucy V.

Yelp
To the Dyers in C'ville-We went there this past weekend. We started off with the 3 tamales and they were very good and hot (temperature-wise). My husband had the Papa burger with onion rings and I had the 2 piece catfish basket. The food was very good and hot (temperature-wise). Leann was great, very nice, and friendly. This place has the diner style decor which we like! We will definitely come back.

Aimee I.

Yelp
For all the hype they give this place, I'll say it's just okay. If you want a great burger, make a smash burger on a Blackstone or, believe it or not, Buffalo Wild Wings All-American burger is better.

Jeremy E.

Yelp
Anyone coming to Memphis for the first time needs to stop into a Dyer's and try the burger! They might as well be on the historical registry! The motto here? "Have you had your vitamin G?" G, as in Grease. Get ready to put your arteries through the wringer! But don't get me wrong...it's a must try if you're a burger lover! While you're at it, go ahead and get a milk shake too! Dyer's Cafe, in particular, really harkens back to the malt shop burger joints of the 50's. So....if you're just traveling through or you're a burger aficionado...you gotta stop in!

Jordan S.

Yelp
Oh Sweet Baby Jesus in the manger in Bethlehem - lawd dun had mawcy on mah soul! If this burger wasn't the most awesometastic, epiphany between two buns that has ever graced my lips - I would swear I was a monkeys third nephew twice removed! This burger not only blew my mind but my heart, soul and every fiber of my being. My innards writhed in gluttonous glory-dressed convulsions of ecstatic pleasure! I never have tasted something so divine as this majestic pleasure barge of flavor! I don't want to ever eat anything else for The rest of my calorie-laden, artery-cloggin', bliss-filled days. #GloryHalleluYER
