Dylan's at The Kings Arms is a proper gem in St Albans' Cathedral Quarter: a beautiful 15th-century pub with cosy beams, a lively front bar, and a more intimate restaurant area at the back. The focus here is on quality British produce, and it shows – we shared the massive T-bone (£105 for 2-3 people), perfectly chargrilled with incredible flavour, tender and juicy. Came with all the trimmings and sides that were spot on. Service was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly. Family-friendly overall: kids are welcome, staff are accommodating, and there's a relaxed pub vibe that's great for families (no separate kids' menu, but simpler options like chips, roast chicken on Sundays, or smaller portions can be arranged). That said, the place is quite small and cosy with the historic layout – there are a few steps and no dedicated pram ramp, but the team are happy to help lift prams in if needed. Solid 5 stars.

I had a disappointing experience at this pub restaurant. Despite the upscale pricing, the quality and service didn't match. The place didn’t open on time, which was frustrating, especially since we had planned our visit based on the posted hours. When we finally got in, we ordered a bottle of wine that was both overpriced and underwhelming. The quality was poor, and it felt like no care had been taken in storing or selecting it. For a place charging premium prices, I expected much better service, presentation, and product knowledge — especially when it comes to wine. if you're paying restaurant or pub prices for a bottle, you absolutely deserve proper service. You’re not being unreasonable to expect that. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it based on this visit. There’s a lot of potential, but major improvements are needed in service consistency, wine selection, and value for money.

Food, service and atmosphere are all sensational. We had Sunday lunch and it was fabulous. Give me 14 of them. Every bit of the dish was just perfect. I'd say the lamb was better than the pork. The deserts were also great. Price is a bit high but no complaints because of how great everything was.

went to an 'event' here recently, which was through Good Food Guide and Timothy Taylor brewery - have to say, Hats Off! a great lunch, with really good Timothy Taylor beers for each course- great opportunity to try different beers, and pair them with food. And at an excellent price. Made the three hour round trip well worth the effort and will definitely try this place again if in the area. thanks all for the effort -

This was our second visit to Dylans after a 3 month wait for a Sunday reservation. No surprise as to why it's so popular, both the pork belly and the beef were delicious. Portions are generous with plenty of veg, roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese included. Looking forward to going back!
