Dylan's at The Kings Arms is a proper gem in St Albans' Cathedral Quarter: a beautiful 15th-century pub with cosy beams, a lively front bar, and a more intimate restaurant area at the back. The focus here is on quality British produce, and it shows – we shared the massive T-bone (£105 for 2-3 people), perfectly chargrilled with incredible flavour, tender and juicy. Came with all the trimmings and sides that were spot on. Service was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly.
Family-friendly overall: kids are welcome, staff are accommodating, and there's a relaxed pub vibe that's great for families (no separate kids' menu, but simpler options like chips, roast chicken on Sundays, or smaller portions can be arranged). That said, the place is quite small and cosy with the historic layout – there are a few steps and no dedicated pram ramp, but the team are happy to help lift prams in if needed. Solid 5 stars.
