"Dynjandi Waterfall Although Gullfoss gets most of the tourists, Dynjandi waterfall is arguably one of the most breathtaking (and one of the biggest) in Iceland .Situated in the remote Westfjords (it’s sometimes described as the region’s jewel), ittumblessome 328 feetandcreates a thunderous sound ( dynjandi means "thunderous" or "resounding"). Impressively, themultiple cascadesstart at around 98 feet wide and spread to 646 feetat the bottom, creating a shape that’s often said to resemble a bridal veil. There are a few more additional waterfalls below Dynjandi that help make the short (15-minute) hike up to the main falls even more picturesque. You can stand right behind if you don’t mind a splash of water."

A Vaccinated Passenger Tested Positive for COVID-19 on My Icelandic Cruise—Here’s What Happened

"In Ísafjörður, one of Iceland’s oldest fishing villages, I opted for a hike to Dynjandi, the largest waterfall in the Westfjords."

Lovely waterfall, very scenic, with a good path and hand rail providing excellent disabled access to lower area with decent ramp/slopes provided for wheelchairs. Higher area is difficult and risky to access with multiple minor accidents and falls reported and seen by others in my party. The site was overcrowded - but with only seven toilet cubicles for hundreds of tourists per hour, it meant long (20-30 minute queues) just for the toilets. The local authorities really need to sort that out quickly.

The drive to the waterfall is beautiful, with ample parking, restrooms, and picnic tables. The ascent to the top is pleasant, and there are numerous lookouts along the way for breaks. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend this place.

An intensely beautiful waterfall, the hike to the top is moderate and if it is raining, you can slip easily . Totally worth going to the top. The drive to the waterfall is breath taking

This is a dramatic series of waterfalls that can be visited in the Westfjords by way of a detour from Route 60. You will find a large carpark area with parking fee. There are public toilets available as well as a walking trek alongside several waterfalls and cascades all the way to the impressive falls at the top, from which you are afforded nice views of the falls below and fjord in the distance. The walk up to the top is a fair ascent and can take a bit of time if there are many other people visiting at the same time. The falls are quite beautiful and worth making time to visit while sightseeing around the Westfjords.

A friend and I arrived at this majestic waterfall early in the morning and we were delighted to find out we had the place all to ourselves! What an incredible experience to be in the presence of this natural beauty and to be able to enjoy it at our leisure. The paid parking and washroom facilities were well maintained.

A beautiful and majestical waterfall! A paved path uphill gets you really close to the waterfall and a panoramic view of the fjord. Well worth the journey!!

The waterfall is stunning. Its bridal veil shape looks elegant and majestic up close. The downside is the parking and lower area, often taken over by tour buses (I counted 16, likely from Ísafjörður cruises), making the lower path crowded and less enjoyable. For us, once the buses left it felt much better, but limiting them would help preserve the place. Go as high as you can. Fewer people and the best views. Parking is paid, around 800 ISK.

a powerful waterfall with 7 cascades, very special. Long trip by car to get there, in the western fjords. Must take anti water suit.
