"Dynjandi Waterfall Although Gullfoss gets most of the tourists, Dynjandi waterfall is arguably one of the most breathtaking (and one of the biggest) in Iceland .Situated in the remote Westfjords (it’s sometimes described as the region’s jewel), ittumblessome 328 feetandcreates a thunderous sound ( dynjandi means "thunderous" or "resounding"). Impressively, themultiple cascadesstart at around 98 feet wide and spread to 646 feetat the bottom, creating a shape that’s often said to resemble a bridal veil. There are a few more additional waterfalls below Dynjandi that help make the short (15-minute) hike up to the main falls even more picturesque. You can stand right behind if you don’t mind a splash of water."

A Vaccinated Passenger Tested Positive for COVID-19 on My Icelandic Cruise—Here’s What Happened

"In Ísafjörður, one of Iceland’s oldest fishing villages, I opted for a hike to Dynjandi, the largest waterfall in the Westfjords."

Lovely waterfall, very scenic, with a good path and hand rail providing excellent disabled access to lower area with decent ramp/slopes provided for wheelchairs. Higher area is difficult and risky to access with multiple minor accidents and falls reported and seen by others in my party. The site was overcrowded - but with only seven toilet cubicles for hundreds of tourists per hour, it meant long (20-30 minute queues) just for the toilets. The local authorities really need to sort that out quickly.

The drive to the waterfall is beautiful, with ample parking, restrooms, and picnic tables. The ascent to the top is pleasant, and there are numerous lookouts along the way for breaks. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend this place.

Did a tour from Isafjordur that included a stop at a farm and these falls. If you’re in a cruise stopping in, don’t miss the tour. Doesn’t matter which company you do it through, these waterfalls are worth it. I know there are many spectacular waterfalls in Iceland, but this was top for me. There’s great parking after a small portion of unpaved road. They’re actively constructing new road now. The path up the waterfall is paved for the first 100 meters or so, but after that it’s all gravel, dirt and rocks. My three year old and I got up just fine. The views were awesome! I’m so glad we came here.

This is a dramatic series of waterfalls that can be visited in the Westfjords by way of a detour from Route 60. You will find a large carpark area with parking fee. There are public toilets available as well as a walking trek alongside several waterfalls and cascades all the way to the impressive falls at the top, from which you are afforded nice views of the falls below and fjord in the distance. The walk up to the top is a fair ascent and can take a bit of time if there are many other people visiting at the same time. The falls are quite beautiful and worth making time to visit while sightseeing around the Westfjords.

As you hike up to Dynjandi, you’ll pass multiple beautiful waterfalls along the way. It’s a short, easy hike and absolutely worth it. Paid parking is available nearby - highly recommend making this stop!

Is it worth the drive into the Westfjords?? ABSOLUTELY! This is a spectacular place to visit. The drive in through the fjords is striking and awe inspiring, one sight prettier than the next...and then you arrive at this larger than life wall of falling water and you can hardly catch your breath looking at the majestic nature of it gracefully tumbling down the cliff face. There are actually 7 named falls making your way up to Dynjandi. Each a treat in and of themselves. Take time to savor each...the photo ops are amazing. There are clean WCs and plenty of them. The views will burn in your memory forever. Just breath-taking. The road to the falls are mostly paved but you do have some gravel. You are up and down mountain passes. We visited on June 2nd and did have some snow as we were leaving the Westfjords so summer can be a misnomer. You want good footwear and all weather outerwear because the weather is variable from one 10 minute span to the next. It was 28 degrees in places the day we went in June. Predictions all said 50s. Just be prepared. You will want to spend an hour or two on site and of course...the drive takes time. Visiting truly is a full day commitment.

If you're anywhere near the area, visiting these falls is an absolute must do. Extremely spectacular and accessible waterfall at the end of a scenic fiord. Good paths take you to wonderful viewing points. This was a highlight of our visit to beautiful Iceland.
