"Dynjandi Waterfall Although Gullfoss gets most of the tourists, Dynjandi waterfall is arguably one of the most breathtaking (and one of the biggest) in Iceland .Situated in the remote Westfjords (it’s sometimes described as the region’s jewel), ittumblessome 328 feetandcreates a thunderous sound ( dynjandi means "thunderous" or "resounding"). Impressively, themultiple cascadesstart at around 98 feet wide and spread to 646 feetat the bottom, creating a shape that’s often said to resemble a bridal veil. There are a few more additional waterfalls below Dynjandi that help make the short (15-minute) hike up to the main falls even more picturesque. You can stand right behind if you don’t mind a splash of water."

Went there in October. A bit further from common tourist attractions. Has toilets. You need to hike about 20 minutes to get closer look of the waterfall. It is very gigantic and beautiful.

Visited August 2024 A superb waterfall in northern Iceland. Larger than you think the waterfall has stunning views of the Fjord from a number of levels on your way up with the fall itself being worth the walk. Yes moderate walking is required to reach the top, having said that the waterfall can be equally enjoyed from a lower level. Stunning.

Sept.24 Next stop was the majestic Dynjandi waterfall; 1,5 hrs driving before arriving. 5 or 6 waterfalls with the one on top the biggest & widest. It still was very busy @8.15PM, so we decided not to go all the way to paid parking, but stopped on the road to make some pictures from a bit further away, but still impressive. There wasn't already enough time to make a proper visit, as we wanted to reach our campground before darkness.

Very impressive waterfall due to its height and width. The steep path up to the top can be tricky, as the rocks get slippery and icy when wet, but the view across the fjord pays off. There are many more waterfalls lining the path. The parking lot comes with a resting area and toilet facilities, but a payment is required.

We did this hike October 8, just before snowier conditions and it was perfect! Most of the hike was fairly easy, and they are paving it to be handicap-accessible... so a few of the viewpoints closer to Dynjandi (the main one, most importantly) are closed! If you'd like to see a what the hike is like (13 minute video showing you the full experience), check out my Youtube, titled: "Hiking Dynjandi Waterfall in Westfjords, Iceland 🇮🇸: Ultimate Guide & Travel Tips [4K FULL HIKE]") The second half has some steps, with some spots of ice frozen over- so be careful if going in the Spring/Fall. Takes a short amount of time, even if you stop for a lot of photos. Wear hiking shoes. Good, clean bathrooms. Pay for parking via QR code (750 ISK).

It's a collection of five or six falls. The top one is the largest one in terms of both width and vertical drop. It's quite a climb/hike for me (a couch potato) but it's worth it. I saw some visitors, at the same pace as me, had to turn back midway reluctantly because the time given by their group tour could allow only fast-pacers reaching the top falls. The path is easy and paved (accessible to strollers but maybe a bit steep in some sections for wheelchairs) up to Hrísvaðsfoss which is the second one (or third depending on your definition of waterfalls) from the parking lot.

What a spot.. just wonderful! We arrived, pais for the parking (qr code at the entrance of the spot, 750 kr) and headed up for 15 mins to reach the footsepts of the waterfall. We stayed for 30 mins just admiring the falls and taking some nice, print-worthy pics. We headed down, enjoyed a nice picnic, and finished up by walking around the shore for a bit. WCs are free. A great spot, despite the very bad road conditions to battle through to get there.

Dynjandi also known as Fjallfoss meaning thunderous is a waterfall located in Arnarfjörður in the Westfjords region of Iceland. It is a mile out-and-back trail. They are currently doing construction on the walking path, but you can still hike to the top. This is the largest series of waterfall and most impressive in the Westfjords that looks exactly like a beautiful bridal veil. It is located right off the road. There is plenty of parking and there are bathrooms available to use.
