The Best of Weird Florida

"Somewhere between taxidermy and art with a heavy dose of oddity, Dysfunctional Grace Art Co. is worth the exploration.  Things you can actually buy: beaver fetuses, mounted “jackalopes,” caskets, and a Minock Appli-caster Castration tool. Professor Diablo’s Mystical Monkey Paw Machine dispenses cursed antique jewelry and access to secret, banned books online. The shop’s wares encompass both natural and unnatural oddities, from rare mushroom coral to baby dolls in coffins. It doesn’t get much weirder than this." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Google
One of the coolest stores I've ever visited. The sheer variety of ephemera for sale was amazing, and at prices way more affordable than I would've expected. There was one item I wanted to buy but was too big to fit in my luggage, and the staff helped me figure out a way I could get it shipped to my home, despite that not being a service they normally accommodate. Absolutely stellar service that really went above and beyond. I hope I get to visit again soon!

Google
This store was interesting. There were so many taxidermy items and some novelty items. It really does a dance a fine line of death, oddity, and beauty in natural and supernatural.

Google
We had an amazing time here, looking around at all the crazy, unique items they have on display and for sale. We left with a few things our neighbors definitely won't have and are sure to make our next dinner party a bit more memorable.

Google
Very cool place! We did have a bit of trouble finding it until we looked up at the windows! lol We really enjoyed the little attached museum (minimum donation required). Extremely interesting and greatly enjoyed by my morbidly curious clan.

Joseph Duran

Google
What an awesome spot! They offer a wide variety of antiques and oddities! The shop is basically a museum that sells their display. You can easily spend a good amount of time looking at everything. Would love to come back and see any new items available for purchase!

Google
absolutely amazing hidden gem! we were walking around and i was so excited to stumble upon this. really nice collection & fair prices. very kind staff. highly recommended to any oddities lover.

Google
This is one of my favorite places in historic Ybor. I visited this gem in May 2024 and I absolutely loved it! The owner is super personable and friendly. I loved that it is owned by a woman and it’s also LGBTQ friendly. I saw a review from a person who seemed appalled at the items and themes presented in the shop. Only visit if you have an open mind and are curious about oddities, the occult and amazingly weird things :-). And parents, please practice common sense and not bring your kids here unless they are old enough to not get nightmares by what they see in the store and museum.

Google
We loved this place. The employee was so nice & down to earth. The collection of taxidermy was amazing, fair pricing as well on most items. Definitely worth checking out even to just look around. Really cool pieces

Yelp
The shop is filled with curiosities for sale. We went for a taxidermy class, which was fun and instructive.

Yelp
Wow. I've never seen anything like it, ever. This is the most amazing collection of oddities I've ever seen. The weird, the wonderful, and beyond. The store owner was also really sweet and took time to talk to us about her collection.
google avatar

Yelp
What a treasure trove this little gem turned out to be! From taxidermy mice in fishing boats to terrifyingly staged clown photo shoots, if it's appeared in your strange dreams, it's there. Everywhere you turn there's something new to look at and there are even drawers of goodies to rifle through like you're a kid in your grandmother's attic. 10/10 recommend if you're anywhere in the Ybor City area!

Yelp
This place is the epitome of a local gem. Come here for vintage, unique, obscure items for your home or just to look at the amazing collection they've amassed. Some items (the very rare ones) are pricey, but they have tons of affordable treasures hidden around every corner. Can't wait to go back on another hunt (if I can find room in my house)!

Yelp
I'm not sure how to review this. My husband and I were walking through ybor exploring and stumbled upon this curious place. We stepped inside and it reminded me of an old timey circus peculiar parlor. Cool, right? The shop owner (I think it's the owner) allowed us to take pictures, but out of respect for the dead didn't want us to photograph the human remains?? There were human skulls on display. Which initially I had no clue they were real. At this point no judgment. Lots of cool war artifacts from WW2 and 1. As well as old photographs, creepy looking dolls, taxidermy pieces, and t-shirts and sage smudge sticks for sale to name a few items. It was a lot of fun looking through all the stuff! It was so interesting. The part that was really bothersome is something I debated on even mentioning, but here goes. I'm all for inclusivity on spirituality and religion! But I draw the line at satanic religion. I'm privy to the terrible experiences people have been traumatized by at the hands of these types of cults. So when I happened upon several stacks of the satanic bible for sale I decided to put my smudge stick back. I can't be part of anything that would knowingly sell brand new copies of the satanic bible. If it weren't for that, I'd have considered 4-5 stars. Unfortunately I likely will never return.

Yelp
Sadly when arriving after a 30 min drive, the shop was closing 30 mins early, 4:30pm. We were told to try and come back tomorrow. We aren't locals, we are visiting and heading back home so it was pretty disappointing to be turned away. Maybe next time we will stop in and they will be open until their closing times as listed. Apple maps state 7:00pm and Yelp/ Google state 5:00pm. Either or they closed early unfortunately so we didn't get the chance to look around to properly review the establishment.

Yelp
A must see while in Ybor City. I hope this place stays open for a lifetime, plus. Crazy assortment of visuals and items. Very unique.
google avatar

Yelp
Very interesting and unique. I bought an antique armadillo purse that I absolutely love.

Yelp
Great weird shop! I have been wanting to hit up this place since I moved here a year ago. They have shrunken heads and bones, things in jars, sage, unique jewelry...The list goes on. It's also attached to a cute coffee shop. Definitely worth a peek.
google avatar

Debbie A.

Yelp
I don't know why they keep calling my cousin Grace dysfunctional. She's gone through some tough times but she's a real trooper and there should be more people like her. Even though she's gone through three husbands I believe she's ready to get married again and this time for good
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
Awesome shop! Really cool staff and just the most amazing little treasures everywhere you look!
google avatar

Shernea D.

Yelp
We love browsing in the store when we are in Ybor. There are some VERY interesting items in this store. To say the least...rather draw dropping things that you just would never think you would come across in your life. Lol... The owners are very kind and helpful don't forget to Say hello to Lil Bit the store mascot and the guest book when you walk inside. I'm sure they'll appreciate knowing who their visitors/patrons are. We try to go take a look to see what's new in each town we are in Ybor. We will definitely return!
google avatar

Andrea U.

Yelp
Very cool taxidermy animals. Enjoyed looking around so much to see. Coffins, skeletons, body parts in jars, books & lots of clever things displayed well.
google avatar

Causti C.

Yelp
The coolest store that I have ever had the chance to be in. Not only is this place a store but also a little museum; housing the coolest and creepiest things of human kind!
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
Five stars for taxidermy art? Why not. Who doesn't love dead animals displayed artfully with accoutrements. They used to be in St. Pete. Now they are in Ybor. Weird place worth checking out.
google avatar

Steve J.

Yelp
Exceptional service, totally unique product. Perfect for that one-of-a-kind gift or decorator item.
google avatar

Emma D.

Yelp
Definitely one of the most unique places I've been to! I loved this place - after stumbling upon it online when looking for stuff to do while in Tampa, I had to add this to my list & was glad I did! There are so many beautiful and interesting things in this place. From skulls to taxidermy, and so much more, it's definitely worth coming to walk through it! The staff was so friendly too and answered my questions. It is really one-of-a-kind and a must see!
google avatar

Brenda R.

Yelp
I enjoy the pictures I have seen from this shop. I have wanted to visit for some time. Interesting minerals, herbs, jewelry and taxidermy.
google avatar

Stefanie M.

Yelp
This place is so freakin dope!! Creepy, vintage vibes adorn every crevice. The owner is really nice and helpful and makes the pieces himself. There you can find all types of things from voodoo dolls to vintage medical texts. It's so aesthetically stunning and intriguing as hell. I knew I couldn't walk out without buying something, so many things called out to me! I ended up getting this sterling silver tray with 3 chalices. They make an excellent piece to my altar. They also have collaborated with Blind Tiger next door to offer this cool lounge area in between the two establishments where you can relax have a coffee. Loved it!
google avatar

Yelp
I came to Dysfunctional Grace Arts to take a class on making horns. I left with an appreciation for all their neat things. They have skulls, jewlery, taxidermy and everything in between. Do you need a dental chair for your haunted house? Perhaps you need a Skeleton for your medical practice. Or maybe you're making a unique piece of art and you need something that you just don't know yet. You'll find it here. The shop has a flair to it that will give some people the creeps. Me? I could live here. I really do need to come back.

Yelp
This place is seriously awesome. Not for the basic-at-heart. I have always wanted to go into an oddities shop like this and was not disappointed! Real bones of all kinds, human teeth, infant coffins, live scorpions, and specimen jars are just a few of the things you can find there. The owner is a peach, and I was lucky enough to meet her daughter there as well who is a firecracker! I wanted to buy all sorts of creepy things (hubby vetoed the scorpion), but settled for three dried butterflies that I will frame and add to my collection. I really wish there were a place like this in Boston!

Monica H.

Yelp
Visiting from Ohio, love oddities shops so while my husband was working I took a 30 min uber to visit this shop. Yelp said it was open but got here and the doors are locked. The door says "if the doors unlocked WE ARE OPEN...if the doors are locked WE ARE CLOSED" What kind of business runs like that????
google avatar

Derek H.

Yelp
Had a lot of oddity items. Nice change of pace. Perfect for man cave or. Collection. How much do I have to write to and ait a review and not a tip?
google avatar

Christina G.

Yelp
Fun little shop of odd things, macabre things, and sometimes beautiful, artsy things. There's always something new to see here but not for the faint of heart. Dead things in liquid. Insects pinned to boards. Teeth. But also crystals, smudge sticks, unique framed mirrors, tchotchkes. I walked in the other day and had to walk right out again because the proprietor was leaving. Hours are irregular.
google avatar

Chaena P.

Yelp
I love this place. Amazing oddities and gifts. I would give it 5 stars but the hours are terrible If you work a normal 9-5 day job you probably won't be able to ever shop here and they are closed on Sunday's. Sad face. But other than that, if you're available between the hours if 11-5, I highly recommend!
google avatar

Kyle P.

Yelp
surprised they don't charge a fee to enter! This place is too freaking cool! highly recommend to anyone in the areas... I wish they had a historic sword collection tho. overall a must stop shop!
google avatar

Alexia W.

Yelp
Gorgeous items. High quality taxidermy specimens. If only I won the lotto, I would buy several immediately. Will be back.
google avatar

Olivia T.

Yelp
Was visiting Tampa to teach a class and was told about this shop. I walked over and fell in love! It was absolutely amazing. One of the owners was there and answered all my questions. Wish I lived closer so I could shop more often!
google avatar

Amalia M.

Yelp
Really cooL shop! I learned so much and saw so many things that I've never seen before. For example, a human head that was cross-sectioned to reveal all the tissue. The staff was also very friendly
google avatar

Marina M.

Yelp
The coolest place in all of Ybor! Full of unique, odd, and downright awesome taxidermy and other oddities. I try to stop by whenever I'm in town.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
This gallery fits perfectly in Ybor. There's some interesting taxidermy, dark funeral parlor pieces, dark whimsical pieces, paintings, jewelry and much more. Price range is pretty broad - you can find something to fit your budget. I have young bugs and was nervous bringing them in with me... The owners were fantastic. They explained what is "not for touching" and directed the kids to items they could explore. This place is a must see... Very intriguing.

Yelp
A wise woman once said "What is normal to the spider is chaos to the fly." (Thanks Liz!) I am absolutely in love with this place. We found this place because we were searching for antique shops with an odd touch. While we were searching Ybor location we came upon this listing. If you are looking for any oddity for a collection or a gift, then this is the place. There is a huge selection of skulls for sale, both animal and human. There were coffins, bird feet, skulls, teeth even old medical tools for sale. The list could go on and on. In the back of the store there were crystals and gemstones for sale and they were a really decent price. Usually if you go to a farmers market the booth will charge you $15 alone for the stone, it's holder and a string. I bought a amethyst stone with holder for $5. The lady (whose name I didn't get sorry!) threw in the leather rope for free so I could wear it. She was sewing leather for handmade key chains. She has created books too. I wish I had the proper name for them. Indiary perhaps. They had a higher quality paper for those of us that like to write with heavy ink pens. $20 for the smaller ones (perfect for your purse or bag) $30 for the medium sized. Decently priced for hand made. My boyfriend bought a bobcat skull as a gift for a friend. Daniel (owner) was nice enough to go over the animal skulls and told us how he takes pride on creating display pieces for these items. He has a bunch of ideas on how he can help you display your piece don't hesitate to ask him. They are reasonably priced and offer lay-away for a certain time frame too. Liz (Daniels wife) was eager to help and very informative. If we ever need an "odd piece" for a gift or for a conversation piece this is the place. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Most interesting place I've seen in a while. The girl at the counter was super cool though- showed us a really retro ouija board.
google avatar

Liang H.

Yelp
This was a cool spot to see some odds and ends. I always love stopping into these kinds of stores to browse and occasionally buy presents for my friends. I appreciate the larger collection here of taxidermy. At first, the store doesn't look big but there are multiple inner rooms with different items to explore. Also, the staff here is really nice which I always appreciate. We didn't buy anything but really enjoyed looking at a lot of the artifacts. They have an old medical tools section

Kristina B.

Yelp
I came here today and was so intrigued with everything they had. They had all different types of taxidermy and antique pieces. They also had a large selection of smudge sticks.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
While I am disappointed that they moved to Tampa, I really enjoy popping into Dysfunctional Grace Art whenever I am in the area. Not everything appeals to me here (I tend to be very picky about what taxidermy, jewelry and art I like), but I always see at least several things I really like. I've purchased: a mounted deer skull, a set of Victorian medical encyclopedias with great illustrations, a weird little diorama constructed using a vintage doll head, and a slightly inappropriate, framed antique medical illustration). In addition to the oddball taxidermy pieces and steampunk/goth jewelry, there are always some interesting antique medical/funeral supplies and prosthetics. Worth a visit if you are Wednesday Addams
google avatar

Yelp
This is why people come to places like Ybor City besides the cigars and frat boy weekends. There is so much cool, creepy fun stuff here you could just spend hours looking at all the cool art and bones and dentures, speculums! Glass eyes? Yes! It's like a smaller version of the Mutter Museum in Philly and just as cool. A generous amount of taxidermy and I'm pretty sure they have classes for that if you have the stomach for it. Lots of cool animal heads made into art and leather products and knick-knacks. The people who work there are super sweet and informative. This is a place you don't want to miss. Hey! You know that black sheep in your family? I mean there's one in every family right? Yes, this is where you shop for them for any occasion and they will love you forever. What an amazing place filled with obscure art. And if it's not your thing, at least go once, you must. They also support local art and artists and to me, that's what Ybor is all about. Let's keep it weird! Enjoy!
google avatar

Patti M.

Yelp
They have weird stuff. In fact, they have a variety of weird stuff and even if it's not your thing it's not mine) it is still pretty cool to look at. The owners of the store are super cool people who take a great deal of pride and time to curate the collection. You will find a little of everything in here including some cool jewelry (I found some ZombieHead designs here--my favorite!)

Mark H.

Yelp
Been to Tampa twice. And been to this place both times! Fun, eclectic, store that has all sorts of oddities. Picked up a mammoth tooth, some crystals and jewelry as souvenirs and the family loved it!
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Super cool place! A ton of really awesome shit in here. Very fair prices, incredible customer service! Definitely coming back to get more goodies soon.

Cameron H.

Yelp
Coolest shop in ybor. Whenever I go in there's something new. A true hidden gem. Staff has always been kind.

Britt S.

Yelp
Can someone please ensure me that the baby alligators mouths aren't taped shut for long periods of time??? Keeping live baby alligators with their mouths TAPED shut all day for customers to pick up and "rent" for pictures is INSANE abuse. Please stop what you're doing!!! That is so cruel, y'all. I beg you to put yourself in the mind of these gators. It's My friieds and I were shocked and horrified. I'll change my review if the owner can get back to me on how you take care of these poor alligators.

El D.

Yelp
The most fantastic oddities shop that I've been to, & I've been to several. Very well put together; everything is displayed nicely with clear pricing, & descriptions accompanying many of the more obscure items. Most shops that carry oddities are overly full of bad taxidermy, dusty or uncleaned instruments & mortuary tools, and owners that don't give their clientele the time of day. I can't say enough about the quality of the items for sale or the friendliness of the staff. They were engaging, very friendly & interested in carrying conversation, even letting my party know of some local goings-on that we may be interested in. They were more than happy to get me a shipping quote for some oversized items, even opening on an otherwise closed day to complete the sale. Top notch people, top notch place! I highly recommend a stop @ Dysfunctional Grace when in the Tampa area, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Tripper D.

Yelp
Really cool gallery. The owner was super nice and introduced my daughter and nieces to her frog with teeth. The taxidermy art was really exciting and creepy.

Kelli I.

Yelp
Amazing place . An absolute must see. Was visiting from KS last year and stumbled upon this gem. We're planning another trip this summer and plan on going back.
google avatar

Vaughn B.

Yelp
Friend suggested we stop in while we were in Ybor the other day. Glad we did! Lots of good stuff. Reasonable prices and great variety. If you are a taxidermy fan the pickings are a bit slim but I by no means hold that against them. We will for sure be back.
google avatar

Cesar V.

Yelp
This place is Amazing. Now if only I could afford the Human Skull they have. Love the different weird stuff they got. Liz and Daniel are awesome!
google avatar

PJ N.

Yelp
good luck ever getting in......they're open, they're closed, they're opened-ish, they're closed-ish even when the sign is lit up stating they're open, too confusing......good luck trying to get in. got in once and have never been able to do so since.......so, not worth my time to dedicate to a business that has no idea of what it's schedule is or the interest of bizarre art lovers. have just stopped going and have found other new and great sources of neat, unusual and biz-art in ybor and the greater tampa area.......plus, how many pieces of dried animals does one really need? they need to get their crap together and figure out what kind of hours they're going to keep and stick to it.........i'm done.
