#e in Vancouver is a mixed bag! The Black Angus Reuben was a letdown—dry beef and barely any sauce, like it forgot to dress up. But the pulled pork banh mi? Total game-changer, juicy and packed with flavor! Staff’s chill, vibe’s quirky and casual. Parking’s a pain. Worth a stop for the banh mi alone

The owner recommended the cheesecake brulee and I was quite excited to try it. The first few bites tasted alright, until I realized only a very thin layer at the very top was cheesecake, the rest of the 90% was white sponge cake. Tastes fine but the name of this dessert if very deceiving, it's sponge cake brulee not cheesecake brulee.

My new favorite sandwich spot! Love that they do Meatless Mondays and have fantastic grilled cheese! I've tried several of the veggie sandwiches over the last few weeks and today enjoyed the Rosemary Lentil (vegan) soup of the day. The foccacia bread is house made every day (I think) and its SO SO SO GOOD! I've been ordering online since I always have my dogs with me and like to grab and go.

Google
Wonderful sandwiches in a shop with so much personality. Specials are always interesting and the foccacia is amazing.

I can't say enough great things about this local gem! Their homemade bread is nothing short of spectacular. Every slice is infused with the kind of warmth and care that only comes from traditional baking methods. The crust is perfectly golden and crispy, while the inside remains fluffy and fragrant. Whether you're indulging in a classic sandwich, enjoying a simple toast, or savoring it as an accompaniment to their delicious soups and salads, the bread elevates every meal. Support local, and treat yourself to a truly special dining experience! 🍞🥪😊

This is a fantastic local eatery. I had the pleasure of chatting with the owner while he was making my sandwich. He’s a great guy and the food is wonderful. I got the pulled pork bahn mi sandwich and it was absolutely delicious! Would definitely come here again.

Awesome spot. Great quality food. Good music. Chill vibes. Perfect soup and sandwich spot.

I was of the opinion that paying for sandwiches was a waste of money until I tried the sandwiches at this place! My partner is always dragging me to sandwich joints but this place I’ll happily go. The flavour combos are familiar but with some unexpected elements - the rotating specials have yet to disappoint. The desserts are pretty impressive too. Just don’t get the soup or salad. Once you’ve have a sandwich, the previous two will feel like an afterthought. Also, the staff are lovely and seem passionate about what they do. It’s got mainly outdoor seating and it’s a pet-friendly establishment. Our dog always gets tasty bacon treats when she comes with us. Lucky girl!

Yelp
We popped in for a sandwich on the way home. The hubby had their grilled cheese with roast beef. He said it was good, but he would have preferred more cheese, less beef. I had their fried chicken special with mango salsa. It was very awkward to eat ( the salsa was in very large chunks), but wow, the flavours were really excellent.

Yelp
BEST SPECIALTY SANDWICHES! About $15/sandwich This is my 3rd time here, so I had to write a review. We usually get whatever is featured on their menu sign, and today it was: Singaporean Style Crispy Chicken: Strong coconut flavour, with a refreshing cucumber slaw and chili sauce for the perfect punch. I loved the crunchy peanuts inside and big juicy piece of chicken. Very unique and lovely flavour combination. Grilled Cheese du Jour (their daily grilled cheese): today was pesto artichoke with Havarti and roma tomatoes. Perfectly pressed on the panini, every bite had a good portion and mix of cheese and artichoke. Just super gooey and delicious especially hot off the panini grill. The ginger ale was also super good, very ginger-y for sure (if you're into that) It does get super stuffy inside, there's a few bar seats by the window but the circulation is pretty bad with an open kitchen. We usually sit outside (there's 3-4 tables, with a large umbrella overtop). Great in the summers or if you're grabbing takeout. I'd recommend eating it right away though! Also, super super friendly staff, they give good recommendations, and are very nice. Pretty quick serving too. Nothing fancy, just a good solid little shop that does what they do very well. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
Lovely warm yummy sandwiches made fresh . Sooooo good. Order online and pick up. This place is perfect.

Yelp
Craving a sandwich with quality, fresh ingredients? 100% Deliciousness awaits you right here. In-house, bread baked daily is really the initial catalyst for your flavour experience. I've had the Rueben and the Spicy Lemon Rosemary Chicken, looking forward to their Breakfast Sandwich next. Staff are friendly and willing to answer questions, despite moving at a literally break neck speed to produce these handhelds. There has always been a line up but it moves fast. Its also heckin hot in there on warm days, so mill about outside whilst you wait for your order.

Yelp
Today was my second visit here; the first being about three years ago. They have expanded their menu and you can go to their Instagram page to see a picture of their specials board every day. I didn't get the special, though it sounded amazing; I got the Reuben sandwich. The bread is made there and the food is incredible. Was there just before noon and there were quite a few people coming in for lunch. Still quick service though. i'm really glad these folks made it through the pandemic and look to be going strong.

Yelp
After having heard from my boss that this small shop just front of Maxine's on Burrard makes the best sandwich, I didn't hesitate to try it today. There were three nice guys working and a guy asked what do I want. " I said what's the best seller here? He said the spicy lemon rosemary chicken. " And yes, it didn't disappointed me... I loved it and perhaps come again soon to try other stuff.

Yelp
Here in Vancouver for a work trip, and stopped for a late lunch. Located at 1308 Burrard St in Davie Village, this is a small, fast-casual local gem. Sandwiches, salads, and pastry are house-made with a focus on nearby farms and suppliers. Specials are listed on a board outside the door, so take a look before you go in. We were too late for the (what sounded fantastic) grilled cheese daily special, but all other specials and daily soup were available. The friendly staff obliged and offered menu guidance. As we waited for our meal, passers-by waved through the window and another patron shared "current" favorite is the falafel sandwich or the grilled veggie sando. In previous years, the Rueben and lemon chicken. And taste a bit of history: the dough "culture", from which sandwich bread and calzone dough is made, has been nurtured and fed for over 10 years, and when you bite into that sandwich (or calzone), you can taste the love that has sustained this place for years. The lemon rosemary roasted chicken is a signature item, but with our excellent meal experience, I'd say get whatever sounds good. I asked some patrons - self-reported frequenters. Plan for takeout or come at an "off" time to enjoy the limited seating inside and a few sidewalk tables. We tried the corn chowder, lemon rosemary chicken salad, side of macaroni and cheese, and the meatball sandwich. All were terrific!

Yelp
Great quality fresh baked bread and sandwiches and perfect size! Would definitely come back again

Kerem G.

Yelp
Every time I go to this place, I just order the sandwich of the day without knowing what it is; because I know for sure that it has been, and is going to be, the most delicious sandwich I've ever eaten in my entire life. Holy smokes! I have been to many different countries, and many different cities in North America; and none of the sandwiches I have ordered, even the ones from crème-de-la-crème top notch Beverly Hills restaurants, come close to what I have gotten here. Never a miss, consistently! And you know that what you're getting is some clean food; because you can see right through the kitchen. It's all clean, freshly made daily material. Vancouver is reputable for its food, and I wouldn't be surprised if this place had a role in it. Getting a sandwich from this place is not just a lifetime experience; but also a historic one! Kudos to the chef

Yelp
The owner tells me they make their own bread, pickles, mustard basically everything from scratch! I came in here because it was the most Yelped place in Vancouver and wanted to try it out after walking by without knowing about it all these years. This is a cute little space with a counter and a few bistro tables outside. As most of the restaurant is the kitchen, that is what takes up most of the space. I came here for the Rueben and it was amazing.

Yelp
I got the classic breakfast sandwich and it did NOT disappoint. Amazing food, truly next level gourmet quality. Great, friendly, and approachable employees. Honored to have had such a masterpiece inside my mouth.

Yelp
Not sure if it's because I'm American but the workers are friendly, helpful, and the food has good flavors! Good place to get a quick, casual bite

Karen A.

Yelp
Creative, delicious sandwiches. Friendly staff. Very few seats for eating in. There are parks nearby for picnicking

Yelp
Good healthy food. Nothing fancy just good eating at a good price. Too hot to eat inside. A few tables outside.

Yelp
Stopped in during a mini vacation in Vancouver, owner on site was very personable and helped me and the bride pick out 2 sandwiches; one meatloaf, one chicken, both were excellent and fellow YELPERS were not wrong about this place, so support the local guys and keep your money in the neighborhood. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I'm visiting Vancouver, from California. This was THE BEST BLT I've ever had. The bread was so soft and delicious. I added aioli to it too. THE BEST!

Yelp
What makes a sub/sandwich perfect ? Based on my little foodie experience I believe the key to a great ( not just good) sandwich is the bread : it should not be a brioche bun neither a french baguette , it got to be a mix of both, something in between the two kinds. This little lovely shop got the perfect solution for such an equation : one of the best sandwich bread I have ever tried in Canada ! Also it goes without saying that the rest of the ingredients are amazingly fresh and tasty with a mix of flavorful sauces and melted cheese. I am now regretting only trying the beef dip ( Friday's special) as I should have got at least the chicken one as well. Oh yeah and they make their own pastries! i got the Cookie & Cream and obviously expected average experience from a pastry baked in a sandwich shop, but guess what : it was epic !! Probably better than most pastry shops around town!! Unfortunately since COVID they removed pizza option from menu to handle the costs! Forgot to mention that the owner ( who is also the sandwiche's chef) is a great welcoming man . Long story short this place is bomb! Definetely coming back

Yelp
Unassuming mostly take out spot with actual food. Asked for a recommendation and was suggested the chicken sandwich. Perfectly moist chicken, well pressed panini and some homemade hibiscus green tea. Couple of tables out on the sidewalk. I will be back to try something else - I'm not generally a sandwich person but this was delicious. Priced very reasonably especially considering the area!

Yelp
Better than five stars: made-to-order artisanal sandwiches, salads and baked goods from the freshest, top quality stocks. The nicest people we've ever experienced. I've worked in several world-class kitchens so seeing six people working in this small space was like watching an F-1 pitstop or a hockey play where everyone touches the puck but just for a second - perfectly coordinated with no wasted motion. Credit to the chef-owner as well as the team. We went twice in one week; we had to go back to see if the first time was luck or an illusion. It was neither; it was skill. Wife loved the chicken; I was partial to the meatloaf. The smiles and licked fingers around us demonstrated that everyone loved everything on the menu.

Yelp
This place makes one hell of a god damn sandwich. I came here and had the rueben and my wife had the rosemary chicken sandwich. The BREAD on these sandwiches my god, PERFECTION. The rueben itself - the mustard, coleslaw, in house roasted angus - man. It was heavenly. I could eat that sandwich everyday of my life. 5 stars for this gem, easy.

Yelp
Over 80 reviews and 5 star rating? I had to check it out. And then I ended up going 3 times last week and twice this week. This is what I've tried so far (in the order from my most favourite to least favourite): - Spicy lemon rosemary chicken sandwich ($10.50): love the pickled jalapenos. - Reuben sandwich ($11): lots of meat piled high, comes with a super crunchy house-made pickle. - Roasted vegetable salad ($9.50): the olive tapenade spread is so good!! - Meatloaf sandwich ($11): meatloaf warmed up in a pan, otherwise nothing special in my opinion. Sauce is a bit salty. Large enough portion for me to split this into 2 meals. - Curry quinoa salad ($3): a nice snack, although I am not a fan of onions and peppers. - Fettuccine Alfredo with smoked meat (daily take-home feature) ($10): a pretty heavy meal, mostly consisted of pasta, not much smoked meat or tomatoes. On the plus side I had this for 3 separate meals. I now carry around their menu so that I can call ahead to place my order. Yes, I'm that addicted. It's also nice that they offer a stamp card - after your 10th stamp, your next sandwich is free. Most of their sandwiches can also be made into a salad, except for the reuben and meatloaf, which is a great alternative. But then I'd be missing out on the bread that's made fresh daily. I'd love to give them 5 stars but as I do think their food is a bit more on the pricey side, I'll have to settle for a 4. Service is always welcoming and friendly. I've noticed they know a lot of their regulars by name and order. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking it out at least once. One day I'll try their daily feature sandwich!

Yelp
Pros: + Great for take out + Plenty of their own drinks - Ginger lemonade is absolutely stunning! + Plenty of gourmet sandwiches and salads to try out + Limited menu options - but everything is absolutely stunning + Plenty of ready made options if you're in a hurry Cons: - Limited parking nearby - Limited seating
google avatar

Lienard C.

Yelp
I really appreciate how simple and minimalist this place is. Owner/chef is super friendly and you can see as your food is being made. I had the spicy tofu pizza which was delicious. I've never had one before and was inspired to make some myself at home once in a while now. Some seats inside and a few outside but great for takeout as well.

Yelp
Great lunch spot. Ate here on 7/8/19. I ordered the meatloaf sandwich, pepperoni pizza, and mac and cheese. The chef cranked them out quick and they were all delicious. We would definitely return

Poncho R.

Yelp
Easily 5 stars. Awesome sandwiches and best coffee in the neighborhood. Recommend this spot highly!

Yelp
The reviews steered us right on this one. Awesome sandwiches and a super friendly owner.

Yelp
Consistently excellent flavours. Creative specials, friendly service, reasonably priced -- what's not too like?

Christina A.

Yelp
I have been here four days in a row, absolutely delicious vegetarian sandwiches! Will be going back many more times I'm sure!

Typhoon N.

Yelp
We came up to Vancouver for a quick hike around Stanley Park and stumbled upon this little gem of culinary excellence. Every item on the menu seemed attractive, but I decided with a 'simple' BLT wanting to try out the basics. Boy was I wrong! It had every bit of sophistication as any creation be fitting a five star restaurant. The bread is just the right combination of soft chewy texture and crunchy flavorful crust. The creamy mustard seeds are like little bursts of spice heaven yet never overwhelming in any way. We enjoyed the sandwich shop immensely. Oh, did I mention the people here are fabulous too?
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
Sandwiches were really good but slightly overpriced. They only have a few menu items and limited beverages, but the 2 sandwiches we had were flavorful and unique. Tiny hole-in-the-wall spot with minimal sitting space. It seemed like more of a to-go spot. However, it's a messy sandwich so plan on sitting to eat or be prepare to rock your fat kid stains all day.
google avatar

Dieter F.

Yelp
Around the corner from the Marriott Res Inn, this "hole in the wall" hit the spot after 7pm. The now-legendary Spicy Lemon Rosemary Chicken sandwich was just lemony enough and well balanced, on that famous crusty bread. The Montreal pizza was truly excellent, with half grape tomatoes scattered over well done smokey bacon and mushrooms, all on a tasty thin crust. Wanted to try all 6 pizzas! Also tried the chicken gumbo soup with pasta, very different and highly recommended.

Margie M.

Yelp
Just arrived in Vancouver and this little sandwich shop was one block away. Had a great conversation with Glen as I watched him prepare our roasted vegetable sandwich and salad. The food was fresh, high quality ingredients and very tasty. My sandwich had a great crunch to the bread, melty cheese and tasty veggies. Also had a selection of interesting and local bottled drinks.
google avatar

Joe S.

Yelp
I am writing this from a place of anger. Not towards number e, but because I went so long without realizing it existed. Amazing pizza. The owner is also a super nice guy who you want to give your business to. Can't say enough good things.
google avatar

Adam M.

Yelp
A great spot, bar none. Fresh sandwiches with fantastic ingredients. There is a limited selection on deck, but what they do have is a special combination of flavours that make for some sumptuous meals. Top them off with some superior soda selections; they're here too. I've had the BLT and meatloaf sandwiches here. Both were great. They had flavours unlike each other and I'm sure the rest of the selection is the same. The bread is distinct and tastes like it was made the same day. This is certainly a component that sets this apart from other sandwich shops. Make sure you pay attention when ordering though, as these are not subtle flavours! The restaurant itself is small and has limited seating. However, this allows for some intimacy and coziness. Just don't bring the baseball team and things will be fine, although you certainly might want to if you want them to feel rewarded!
google avatar

Sean K.

Yelp
If you're going to be good at anything passion for what you are doing is the number one driver for anyone to have success abd be called a master. no matter what industry or service this must be Number 1 and Number E has just that. Number E does it right. I came in this morning for a breakfast sandwich as soon as they opened the doors at 10 a.m. There wasn't a breakfast sandwich on menu so the owner suggested to get a BLT and add an egg. Done! In between his sandwich making I asked him what the shops name meant.. He gavr me a very simple story "I knew this older man that ran a restaurant that I frequented and this man only had letters to order the food on his menu. English was not so good, the food was and yet he found a way to serve the people with the food he'd love to serve the people with that's what you get at Number E." Great sandwiches and great people that love what they're doing and they put their passion into the sandwich. We as patrons surely get rewarded here. He handed my sandwich and left me with these words, "it's going get messy. Let gravity do it's work." On to the sandwich: the bun is very soft, sprinkled with Himalayan rock salt. The vegetables were deliciously sauced up (I am not usually a fan of veggies) and are good. The egg fits perfectly in the sandwich bun and the rest of the ingredients is perfectly and meticulously layered in the sandwich. Lastly but one of the most important component the egg (add-on) which perfectly is cooked and just oozes once you bite into it. Amazing till the last bite

Yelp
My favourite sandwich shop downtown. Ridiculously tasty. Favourites are....pretty much all of the sandwiches.
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
Visiting Vancouver and came here for lunch. It's a very cozy spot can sit around 9 people at one time. They have coffee and soda as well. There's menus on the counter by the register with all their menu items. I ordered lemongrass chicken. It was pretty quick to make and I was also the first patron for the day. The daily special is outside on the chalkboard so you might miss it if you don't take a look before coming in. The guy that helped me is easy going and told me my order is the most popular. The sandwich itself is really well made. The bread is really soft and hardy so it will fill you up. It might get a little messy but it's totally worth it. The sandwich is extremely flavorful and the jalapeños add a subtle kick to the entire meal. Will totally be back in the future for a quick bite!
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Delicious food. I love Reuben sandwiches and this was spectacular. The meat was super tender, and the house made mustard and bread were incredible. Will be coming back again to try more.
google avatar

Rachel N.

Yelp
Pretty small and cosy space, with around 9 seats. Service was ok, nice and funny people. The food was great, nothing too extraordinary. Really nice place:) but I probably wouldn't go again cause it wasn't exactly my type as I like to dine in and unfortunately the place was small.

Danny G.

Yelp
We are visiting from the Bay Area. This was recommended and is truly has great food and service and is very reasonable.
google avatar

Pat D.

Yelp
I rarely update my reviews and give a better rating, but this place deserves it. The first time I came here I had one of their take home meals which was good, but I kept hearing about their sandwiches. I had their "Dagwood" sandwich yesterday. Oh. My. Gawd. It. Was. So. Good. The "Dagwood" has alder smoked bacon, salami, smoked sockeye salmon, caramelized onions, provolone, cheddar, pickled jalapeños, avocado, on Tuscan. It basically has everything on like handmade bread. Easily, one of the most delicious sandwiches I ever eaten. And because it is big and has so much toppings, you don't have to worry about compromising taste for hunger!
google avatar

Edwina L.

Yelp
MUST EAT! We are visiting from Hawaii and ordered the meat lover's pizza and the Rueben. Everything made fresh and it was just delicious. The service was totally friendly and awesome even for a to-go order. But seriously, the pizza was one of the best I have ever had and this is cooking from someone who has eaten a lot of pizza.
google avatar

Joe M.

Yelp
This is a GREAT lunch place. Delicious salads, sandwiches, salads, and pizzas. The food is great. Some of it is pre-made so you can have it heated up. Plenty of street parking during weekday lunch. And the manager came out to check on our meal. Top of the line!!!
google avatar

Jakub S.

Yelp
Go ahead, show me another Food spot with over 60 ratings and a perfect 5 stars...go ahead" I'll wait...... Ok, now that you're back, stop reading this and go have a sandwich at this place! Glen will show you the way. That is all!
google avatar

Laurent P.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in town. Home made with very healthy and organic ingredients. Glenn the owner is really a Chef and cooking everything himself. As a Frenchman, I am always difficult when it's about food but the place is definitively my favorite and value for money. American guests complaining about the prices of these sandwiches can cross the street over and eat their junk at Subway!

Maria A.

Yelp
I had the BLT and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! My hubby had the Reuben one and it was very good as well. We'll definitely be back
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Awesome bread. Nice folks. Flavorful fillings. I had the meatloaf which was tender and juicy. The only thing I would say is it seemed a spice in either the sauce or meat was a bit much. Tasted like thyme of which I'm not a big fan and I think was just put on a little heavy handed. The pizza smelled wonderful. I will be back to try one soon.
google avatar

Benjamin H.

Yelp
Nice guy, excellent sandwiches. Please go here so they don't go under, it's a goofy location.
google avatar

Teri S.

Yelp
This sandwich shop is the best!! We had the Rueben sandwich and the meatloaf sandwich, both were awesome!! They make their own bread daily! We'll definitely be back!!
