10 must-visit indie London bookstores - SilverKris

"A cheerful children’s bookshop tucked on historic Cecil Court that stocks collectible illustrated and children’s classics—including first editions from modern favourites like Harry Potter to evergreen titles such as Winnie‑the‑Pooh—and delights visitors with playful touches such as an original 1970s Dalek on display." - Olivia Ho

lovely shop with kind, cool people. very helpful, very friendly. even though i was there for a short while, i had a wonderful time. the shop looks warm and inviting on the outside, and you'd be glad that once you come inside your instincts are proven right! it's like going inside a whimsical world. worth to visit and worth to support!

Absolutely livid at the experience in this shop, originally went their and my partner purchased a Harry Potter book (£200) for my birthday a few months ago from younger gentleman which was pleasant but today was different literally walked in today and had the worst reception from this old grumpy man (no offence) but he shut my partner and I off before we even fully walked in and had this really nasty tone, I so happened to say there’s no need for you to be so rude, it’s not what you say to people it’s how you say it, whether he is the owner or not it doesn’t give him the right to speak to people in that way whether they are buying or asking if the shop/company buy books, stay clear of this place honestly it’s not worth the hype. I will now no longer support this place my distaste in common decency/curtesy because of one person. It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful shop but that person made it a very ugly experience for me personally. And I hope this gets seen because it’s a matter of time before more people encounter this specific person who works there.

Google
A must-visit bookshop, full of gems to tempt and entrance lovers of fine “children’s” literature - including of course everybody with an imaginative soul and a taste for the magical, mysterious & fantastic…and for fine illustration. Mathew was a charming and welcoming host, holding forth from his elevated perch, sharing fascinating insights, anecdotes and treasures from the shop. I hope I’ve long crossed the river before book havens like this disappear from our realm.

Google
A wonderful place if you look for any old books. We had a lovely chat with Mathew, almost made him be late for a dinnerparty. You could feel that he has a genuine passion for the things he sells, as they all seemd to be things he collected to share his passion Thank you for the Enid Blyton books Greetings from Switzerland

This is our absolute favorite bookshop in London! The owner Matthew is so friendly and helpful. We really appreciated his expertise and willingness to explain so much to us about first editions, obscure and beautiful prints, and collecting books. The shop has a very large collection, not only of children's books, but a lot from the world of literature classics, including many special illustrated editions. His knowledge is only matched by his kindness and great sense of humor. We will visit his shop every time we come to London. Thanks again!
