10 must-visit indie London bookstores - SilverKris

"A cheerful children’s bookshop tucked on historic Cecil Court that stocks collectible illustrated and children’s classics—including first editions from modern favourites like Harry Potter to evergreen titles such as Winnie‑the‑Pooh—and delights visitors with playful touches such as an original 1970s Dalek on display." - Olivia Ho

lovely shop with kind, cool people. very helpful, very friendly. even though i was there for a short while, i had a wonderful time. the shop looks warm and inviting on the outside, and you'd be glad that once you come inside your instincts are proven right! it's like going inside a whimsical world. worth to visit and worth to support!

A must-visit bookshop, full of gems to tempt and entrance lovers of fine “children’s” literature - including of course everybody with an imaginative soul and a taste for the magical, mysterious & fantastic…and for fine illustration. Mathew was a charming and welcoming host, holding forth from his elevated perch, sharing fascinating insights, anecdotes and treasures from the shop. I hope I’ve long crossed the river before book havens like this disappear from our realm.

A wonderful place if you look for any old books. We had a lovely chat with Mathew, almost made him be late for a dinnerparty. You could feel that he has a genuine passion for the things he sells, as they all seemd to be things he collected to share his passion Thank you for the Enid Blyton books Greetings from Switzerland

This is our absolute favorite bookshop in London! The owner Matthew is so friendly and helpful. We really appreciated his expertise and willingness to explain so much to us about first editions, obscure and beautiful prints, and collecting books. The shop has a very large collection, not only of children's books, but a lot from the world of literature classics, including many special illustrated editions. His knowledge is only matched by his kindness and great sense of humor. We will visit his shop every time we come to London. Thanks again!

I am not a specialist on children's books or anything, but as an adult, I still read many of them, and there are several that I truly cherish. In December, I visited London from Tokyo, and my heart leaped when I stumbled upon Marchpane during a stroll. The person who assisted me, Dr. Eve, I believe, showed me valuable first editions of the Green Knowe series. He even recited a passage from *Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens* and helped me choose a Peter Rabbit print as a gift for a friend. Even now, back in Tokyo, I fondly remember the wonderful time I spent in the shop, which warms my heart. Next summer, when I return to London, I will definitely make it a point to revisit the shop. With warm regards from your fan in Tokyo.
