Yelp
Eagle Wing Inn provides a high touch customer service, which differentiates it other Cape Cod accommodations--including AirBnB or VRBO. Eagle Wing Inn, centrally located in Eastham, provides clean and comfortable rooms, tidy property, numerous amenities and services tailored to a positive Cape Cod visit. In addition, the inn keepers (owners) are on-site to provide high-touch, personalized customer service. Also, I found Eagle Wing Inn to be LGBTQQ-friendly and accommodating.
My parents and I stayed at Eagle Wing Inn for four nights in mid-August. My parents were unsure of the dates we could visit Cape Cod as my mom had been in the midst of a kitchen remodel. Fortunately, I was able to reserve the last room available at the 21-room inn only two days prior to our departure. I had contacted several Cape Cod motels and inns but all were booked given it was last minute during tourist season.
Eagle Wing Inn is located off Route 6 a half a mile or so north of the roundabout at the juncture of Brewster, Orleans and Eastham. My parents and I arrived just prior to the 3 pm room check-in time following a five-hour drive from Upstate New York. We were greeted to a well cared for property upon entering the driveway. John and Melanie, Eagle Wing Inn owners, greeted us in the lobby to check us in and provide an overview of their services and available guest amenities.
Our room included two queen beds--but not your ordinary beds. Each bed had an 18-inch mattress and box spring. My mom, of small stature, had trouble getting into bed given the bed height, but this was a good thing. The beds were firm and comfortable and made watching TV at eye level. The nightstand, between the beds, had a clock, and what I later discovered, convenient USB ports and electrical outlets for charging my smartphone and laptop (Eagle Wing also offers loaner laptops according to their web site).
Our room amenities were numerous: a reasonably sized, tall refrigerator with built-in freezer, a Keurig coffee maker with coffee pods, a flat screen TV with cable, Wi-Fi, a desk and chair, several clothes drawers, a closet that had extra blankets and a clothes iron, and a table with two chairs. The room could use a few more hooks though to hang clothes and beach towels. The bathroom had a shower and bath combo with a lovely pedestal sink!
Owners John, Melinda or their adult children are on-site at all times. This proved useful when requesting restaurant recommendations, asking to use the laundry to wash and dry bathing suits and beach towels, and to answer our questions at any time of the day or evening.
My parents and I made a beeline to the outdoor swimming pool to swim and relax in the poolside lounge chairs after our long drive. John assured my father that an outdoor shower would be in the works as guests are asked to shower prior to use of the pool.
Each morning, Eagle Wing Inn provides breakfast and freshly baked cookies in the afternoon and evenings. My mom and dad remarked (even after we had returned home) on the extensive breakfast options (more than that offered during their European vacation stays). Breakfast, for example, included fresh coffee, bagels and English muffins, with an available toaster, fresh baked muffins each morning, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and cereal, as well as orange juice and milk.
Another amenity we found very useful: available beach chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach, be it the nearby Coast Guard Beach in Eastham or Herring Cove Beach at the tip of the Cape near Provincetown about 40 minutes away. I didn't have time to use the bikes Eagle Wing Inn makes available to their guests (that will have to be another time).
Eagle Wing Inn is more expensive at around $250 per night than motels rooms in nearby Orleans can be had for around $150 per night (Our daily rate was close to $300 including taxes as we were charged an additional $30 per night for a third person). However, as John and Melanie (the owners) stated, they are offering an experience and a level of customer service unmatched by nearby establishments, in Eastham or Orleans.
Also, Eagle Wing Inn offers a quiet experience, which I didn't realize until Melanie mentioned had mentioned it. Eagle Wing caters to adults only. You won't find families with children.
Much like a boutique hotel, the Eagle Wing Inn fills a niche between the many low-cost/high volume Cape Cod motels and AirBnB/VRBO market. Eagle Wing Inn, while at the higher end price-wise, offers vacationers a quiet and comfortable stay at Cape Cod. The rooms are clean and modern. The property is well maintained and tidy. The Eastham Route 6 location has easy access to Wellfleet and Provincetown to the north, Brewster to the west and Orleans to the south. On-site customer service by the owners is the value differentiator from other properties.
I highly recommend Eagle Wing Inn for your next visit to Cape Cod
