We had the most wonderful stay!! The hospitality was truly amazing and the property is gorgeous. It truly felt like we were right at home. Favorites included the beautiful deck (great for stargazing!), the dogs, and the breakfast. COME HUNGRY -- Jim cooks an amazing breakfast and you can expect a few surprise sweet treats to make appearances during your stay. Conveniently located just a few steps off the main drag, it was the perfect home base for the weekend.

A bed and breakfast in Julian with parking, a short walk to main Street AND an opportunity to pet adorable golden retrievers?! For a relaxing weekend in Julian these were some things we considered when picking a place. The owners were very nice and when we arrived 2 dogs greeted us! The location has 4 rooms and we stayed in the autumn room which has its own separate entrance and private patio. Besides the dogs you may be greeted by friendly cats. Breakfast in the morning was family style and you can mingle with other groups staying there and hang out with the doggies. Breakfast had a variety of things to eat which varied from homemade pancakes to individual egg dishes. If you have a diet request (someone was gluten free) they will also accommodate for this. Overall had a nice stay and would recommend to anyone spending a few days in this town.

My husband and I had a wonderful two night stay for our anniversary. Jim and Julie are so friendly and attentive. They make you feel like you are their top priority. When we checked in a delicious homemade crumble was waiting for us in our room. Jim also went out of his way to offer us bathrobes for walking out to the hot tub when it was cold outside. Beautiful house, great pool and hot tub, friendly golden retrievers, delicious breakfast, and located right in downtown Julian. We will be back!

Fantastic experience! Jim and Julie are fabulous innkeepers! Clean and comfortable room, amazing breakfast. Jim makes an apple crisp that is truly amazing! Jim and Julie go out of their way to make you feel like family. Enjoyed the hot tub and the 5 golden retrievers were a pleasant bonus.

We stayed overnight at Eaglenest and had the most wonderful experience! Jim and Julie were so friendly and accommodating and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was cozy and lovely and we were welcomed with homemade apple crisp. We stayed in the Autumn Room which has its own entrance, patio (with a fire pit) and parking space. The room itself has a gas fireplace which was perfect for the cool evening and morning in Julian. We let Jim know we were going to use the hot tub after dinner and he made sure it was warmed up and ready to go when we returned to Eaglenest after dinner. Breakfast in the morning was incredible! We had pancakes with whipped cream and fruit compote (all homemade!), eggs, sausages, fruit and muffins! And of course, coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice. Jim and Julie made us feel like family and were so gracious through our entire stay! If you're looking for a place to stay in Julian, I promise you will be thrilled with Eaglenest Bed and Breakfast!

Google
This place is amazing. Jim and Julie treated us and the rest of the guest like family! The room was nice with a great view. Breakfast each morning was more than enough, sometimes we even skipped lunch becuase we were still full from breakfast. The golden retrievers were great greeters and cuddlers. Will be going back there again!!

The owners Julie and Jim are professionals, they've been doing this a long time and they dedicate themselves to serving their guests. This combination reveals itself in so many large and small details throughout your stay. Their genuine warmth and caring permeate the atmosphere and we left already thinking about our return. The food, the DOGS, the fresh baked treats - generosity abounds.

Google
We love this place. Jim and Julie are awesome hosts and your breakfasts are chef quality. If you love dogs, crack your door in the morning and you be greated by 3 Irish setters and 2 labs. They are sweet as well as just plain awesome. Nice pool and jacuzzi to swim and relax, outdoor bbq and deck. So get your wine or hard cider and take a nice deserved weekend off. You will come back as we have....

Yelp
My boyfriend booked a surprise weekend for my birthday and the Eaglenest BnB was the icing on the cake!!! Julie and Jim were the best hosts! The BnB is so welcoming and relaxing it's the perfect getaway weekend. Being greeted by their golden retrievers is such a sweet surprise! Speaking of sweet surprises there's always delicious baked goods left in your room. Breakfast every morning was delicious and Julie and Jim went above a beyond! Thank you so much for the most amazing stay! Biggest pluses: *super clean *super close to restaurants and shops *privacy *best hosts

Yelp
I enjoyed my time at eaglenest! Jim and Julie were so friendly, wonderful hosts! I loved having all the dogs around and they have a cat too. The food was great and the room was comfy. The b&b is close to the main street, so easy access to all of what Julian has to offer. There is a pool for any of the hotter days. They are also knowledgeable about Julian with information and insight to activities nearby.

Yelp
This place is simply magical and amazing . It is truly a special place the owners of the air bb are so sweet and very caring. I 100 percent recommend this place to anyone visiting Julian. I will definitely be back. It is the most relaxing, beautiful, laid back place I have ever been to. I can't believe how amazing my experience was here. Absolutely blown away!

Yelp
Had an overnight stay recently at Eaglenest. Everything was a positive experience. We arrived later on in the evening, and were accommodated as far as later check in, and having the hot tub ready for our arrival. Both owners are very nice, chatty and explain everything in great detail to make your stay easy as can be. Rooms are in great shape, and have a nice both modern and vintage style if that makes sense. Hot tub is very nice, and we were the only ones there at the time, so really got to relax. Room has all the things you need, such as coffee maker, bottle opener, glasses.. snacks if needed. We even got a couple bath robes as well, which came in handy after the hot tub. We stayed at the Autumn room which has it's own parking spot, with private patio and gas burning fire pit. Breakfast in the tower room was also really nice. They offer you tea, coffee and juice and make a homemade breakfast as you chat away with views of the mountains. Plus lots of nice pups. They offer a roller in case you get some dog hair on you ;) I highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone. Great get away for couples, you won't want to leave

Yelp
My boyfriend and I wanted to complete a checklist of fun southern CA things to do before he deploys next month so we decided to stay a night out in Julian and we already knew that Eaglenest was going to be great because of the reviews but OH MAN, did it exceeded our expectations!!! We LOVED our room and how homey it all felt the moment we walked in. In the evening we sat out by the fire pit and split a bottle of wine and then we checked out their DVD collection, popped some popcorn, and started a movie. It was SO relaxing and we both got the best sleep we had had in months! In the morning, we went upstairs for breakfast and we were overwhelmed by how hospitable Jim and Julie were. The breakfast was AMAZING! Pumpkin pancakes, parfait, fresh fruit, homemade muffins, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and Julian-made berry cider. I'm a little disappointed that I will probably never have that good of a breakfast again until we return! Now I know what I am missing. I've saved the best for last in this review... the FIVE GOLDENS! My boyfriend and I got to spend a good hour playing with them and we felt like two little kids on Christmas. They all love to get attention and they way they interact with each other is so funny. Will is the biggest lover as he will sit next to you and do the "puppy lean" and try and nudge your hand away when you reach for another dog (haha) so sweet! And Brett is the most animated, vocal, and comical. From the moment we checked in, we wished that we would have been able to stay an extra night. When my boyfriend returns from deployment, we will be staying for the whole weekend - that was the only mistake we made over the entire week. When we were packing up, Jim knocked on our door to notify us that I had a flat. My boyfriend got the tire off of my car and Jim offered to drive him down to the local Napa Auto Parts to get it fixed so that he didn't have to carry it down by himself. I mean, these are good people, so sweet. We can't wait to return. If you're looking for a nice relaxing and romantic escape from the city, don't look anywhere else. It is worth every penny and it was our favorite part of the week (which is saying something because we did a LOT of stuff). *Travel Tips* If you have extra time while your'e in Julian take the 50 minute drive out to Anza Borrego and check out The Slot hike. You navigate through tall channels of sandstone that was created over the years from flash floods. We really enjoyed it! There is a couple of miles of dirt road FYI but my little Corolla made it just fine. Also, Jeremy's on the Hill was a great dinner spot and is only a couple miles from Eaglenest and check out the CA Wolf Conservation (reservations are required) to observe the Red and Grey wolves. Enjoy!

Yelp
For the Eaglenest review ( Carla ) Such a peaceful setting, and a very relaxing area around the pool and Jacuzzi. The breakfasts were incredible with a selection that differed each morning including some amazing French toast that JIM made and an egg soufflé type dish that just melted in your mouth. Both Julie and JIM made us feel very welcomeAt their B & B. Their golden retrievers were well behaved but ready for petting when we wanted. ( Mitch ) As a slightly belated birthday celebration, I searched online for traditional Bed and Breakfast Inns (B&B) in Julian. One gave me a hard time due to local restrictions, even though I am an essential worker. Eaglenest came up as number one on Yelp. After seeing how many 5 star reviews, I called and Julie answered. We came up with a plan to celebrate Carla's birthday. Since they were completely open, as many have been cancelling due to the Corona Virus-stay at home order, Jim and Julie were anxious to get some guests. We were lucky enough to look at all four rooms in the Guest House then choose the room we wanted. We chose the Spring room, upstairs. (Note, photos on webpage aren't exactly what the bedroom looks like. It has a more flower full bed spread and I believe the wallpaper is different now. Better than in photos. http://www.eaglenestbnb.com/guest_suites.html I've always picked the upstairs room if given a choice, even though we were the only guests. The room was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Lots of windows allowed fresh mountain air to flow through, but there is an AC unit if temps would have dictated. We turned the bedroom fireplace one morning, but truly didn't need it. The King Bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. Great for two very relaxing nights. Bathroom is large, with a big double shower. The shower control was not labeled, but I had it figured out by the second shower. Front room with sofa, fridge, cable tv (Which we never turned on) was also super comfy. There was also a TV in the bedroom which we never turned on. Wifi was fast and consistent. The town of Julian had about 6 shops, eateries open which was more than we anticipated. One of the reasons we looked for a traditional B&B was the breakfast. Jim was a great chef, and the meals and service reminded me of being on a cruise ship. Goldens X 5. Yes, five dogs that will greet you upon arrival, and also in the AM prior to breakfast. Thankfully we both love dogs, but these were very obedient, friendly and fun to say good morning to. I highly recommend a Julian get away, about 1 hour East of San Diego at Eagles Nest!

Yelp
Best B n b on the planet. Got cool rooms. Yep. Got good food in the morning. Yep. Got comfortable beds. Yep. Got golden retrievers. Yep. Got walking distance to the whole town. Yep. Go. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
We have stayed at Eaglenest B & B twice. Once in Autumn room and once in the Summer room. Both beautiful, cozy, comfortable but I'm a girly girl and preferred the Summer just for the decor. From the moment you arrive Jim and Julie treat you like family (but not the in your face kind of family). Baked treats, hot coffee and breakfast are out of this world delicious but not in the snotty, uppity I don't know which fork to use way! They have anything and everything you could need and then some. Julian is a brief walk where you can overdose in cuteness and anything apples! We were there during Christmas so super pretty with all the lights and decorations. I highly recommend Eaglenest B&B the only downside is that Jim and Julie set the bar so high that all other B&B's won't be as perfect!

Yelp
Everything we expected...and more. We spent 2 truly enjoyable nights at Eaglenest, a B&B that seemed to us to strike a great balance between privacy and camaraderie. Jim (and dogs) were over a few times a day, every time accompanied by a delicious snack. We were prepared for the outstanding accommodations and friendly dogs, but those "snacks" and two amazing breakfasts were far beyond our expectations. The rooms all seem spacious and well appointed, and the views and ambiance are the best in town. If you're a a B&B fan, foodie, and dog lover; this is absolutely your kind of place.

Yelp
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. Julie and Jim are amazing hosts! My friends and I were looking for a last minute place to stay overnight (too much fun at the SIP of Julian earlier that day). Everything in town was booked because of the busy weekend. It was kismet-The Summer Room at the Eaglenest was available, Julie/owner was so warm and loving, she made it happen so my friends and I could stay the evening in their fabulous B & B. Julie's husband Jim met us for our check in and showed us around the place with his assistant Will right beside him (a loving Golden Retriever)! Everything you could imagine water, sodas, snacks, coffee and homemade brownies waiting for us. Delish! They also had games, microwave, books, a pool and hot tub. We didn't get to enjoy the pool because it was a quick overnighter and we didn't bring our swimsuits. We did however get to enjoy the upstairs patio. We ordered pizza and enjoyed a bottle of wine, on their outdoor furniture under the stars and a blood moon. It was a wonderful summer evening. We retreated to our comfy queen size bed afterwards. The loveseat in our room turned into a sleeper bed-perfectly accommodating all 3 of us. In the morning Julie and Jim made us an unbelievable vegetarian breakfast. Homemade popovers served with fruits and syrup, scrambled eggs, a yogurt parfait with granola, whipped cream and fresh fruit. We also had fresh squeezed OJ and coffee. It was quite the spread, we had the dining room to ourselves because the other guests already started their day and went to Main Street. Unfortunately we had to drive back to LA, so that was the end of our respite at the EagleNest. I can't wait to go back and stay for a long weekend with my husband. Julie and Jim are fabulous hosts- thoughtful and caring in every details of our stay. Did I forget to mention their 5 Golden retrievers who are just as loving...yummy for the heart and soul.

Yelp
What an incredible B&B! Jim and Julie are wonderful hosts as well as their five goldens. Every detail is thoughtful from setting the fire in your room to the sweet treats in the afternoon to the pantry full of movies and games to enjoy at leisure. My husband and I really needed to get away for the weekend and feel rejuvenated after our time at Eaglenest. The home is beautiful and even though it's walking distance of Main Street (which is great), you still feel remote and can soak in the beautiful country views. The rooms are super clean and comfy. And don't get me started on the amazing breakfast!! We truly had the most wonderful stay and are looking to return in a few months.

Yelp
I can't find the words to express how amazing this place is! Julie and Jim are absolutely amazing! The pups put a smile on my face every morning. The food Jim prepares every morning is better than you can find at any restaurant!! I can't wait until the next time I can go home again!!!

Yelp
66 Checking out of this wonderful B&B after 4 nights, totally refreshed. It was exactly what we needed. The perfect place to celebrate our 45th anniversary...we had privacy but felt cared for at the same time. Jim and Julie stand out as far as B&B hosts...warm, delightful and genuine. And the breakfasts...oh so scrumptious! Jim accommodated our GLUTEN-FREE dietary restriction with apparent ease, not only at breakfast but leaving special snacks daily for our enjoyment... gluten free peanut butter cookies, apple crisp and apple pie. (With a microwave available and ice cream in the freezer!) The golden retrievers are a nice presence. They are well behaved and my wife was happy to get her dog fix. J & J are cautious about letting them in so one is not overwhelmed by 5 big dogs. We stayed in the Spring room . There was a nice sitting room off the bedroom which was great for us since we were also escaping the rigors of caregiving for my 92 year old mother in law. So for the 1st couple of days we tend to read, and sleep a lot. It was bright, with great views of the hills, private and quiet.s Thanks Jim and Julie. We had a wonderful, restorative time! Now to lose those extra pounds!

Yelp
This place is so amazing I am going back this year too!! I will probably make it a yearly trip. Jim and Julie are amazing and you feel like you're at home. The breakfast is wonderful.. I could go on and on about this place. Try the romance package.. it's my favorite!!! You choose the guestroom for a two night stay, and we will set up the Champagne, Fresh Flowers and Box of Chocolates for your arrival. We will arrange for your One Hour Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride to pick you up at the home, and will then top off your stay with Full Body Massages, One Hour for each of you, private in your guestroom~

Yelp
My husband and I recently stayed at Eaglenest B&B for 2 nights to spend some quiet time together before our first baby arrives in December. When we arrived we were greeted by Jim & 2 of the gorgeous golden retrievers...they made us feel right at home. We stayed in the Autumn Room which had a private entrance & patio which helped us stay low key and maintain the private quiet setting we wanted to enjoy. When we went upstairs for breakfast, we were greeted by Julie and Jim cooking away in then kitchen along with 4 of the 5 well behaved and loving golden retrievers. We're big dog lovers so we felt right at home. Breakfast was served family style and we took our time enjoying an awesome breakfast of oatmeal pancakes, bacon, eggs, and baked pears while chatting away other guests. The room was very clean and comfortable and met our needs perfectly. There was a pantry with a fridge and microwave to store leftovers and drinks which came in handy. We will definitely stay again and would not change a thing. Thanks Julie & Jim!!

Yelp
We had an excellent stay at Eaglenest this weekend. We stayed for 1 night for our 2 year anniversary in the Spring Room. The room is upstairs, so it feels a bit more private than the other rooms, which I really liked. The room itself was extremely spacious, and was essentially 2 rooms (bedroom itself and also living room with couch, lounge chair, and TV with cable). It was also nice to have an in window air conditioner, as our room got all the sun from sunset and became rather hot in the evening. The owners have 3 golden retriever dogs, who are adorable and very sweet. Apparently they usually roam around, but the night we stayed someone else at the B&B was allergic, so we didn't see them as much as we would have on another stay :( Mini candies were everywhere, and we had use of the pantry for soda, water, and various toiletries. Also, amazing brownies were put out in the early afternoon, and we got piece of pie upon check in. The hosts were extremely sweet and welcoming, and made us feel at home. Check-out wasn't until 12pm, which gave us a nice amount of time before we had to leave. We will absolutely come back if we get the chance. The only thing I am a bit sad about is that we missed the sweet french toast/pancake breakfast that was being served on Sunday morning. We will need to come back again for that.

Yelp
Impeccable clean rooms, well appointed and Jim and Julie were exceptional hosts! The pool and grounds looked really nice especially with all the blooming wisteria and lilacs. Jim was a professional chef so breakfast was always fantastic. Certainly will return!

Yelp
Just stayed her for the second time this past weekend. Can't say enough good things about the hosts or the location. The breakfasts each morning were amazing and the hosts are incredibly warm and awesome people. The BnB itself is beautiful and located walking distance to Main Street.

Yelp
The Hosts: A childhood friend and I stayed at the Eaglenest B&B from Friday-Sunday. I originally made all arrangements with the host - Julie - via email. When we hit a snag on Friday and our check in was delayed, Julie and Jim were very accommodating. We didn't arrive until nearly 8pm, but Jim came out to greet us and give us the grand tour. Saturday morning, we sat with the other guests for a divine breakfast, courtesy of Jim (and included in your stay). This wasn't some dinky continental breakfast - I'm talking fresh squeezed juice, cider, coffee, and a breakfast worthy of any gourmet restaurant. On our way to horseback riding, we encountered some car trouble, and Julie happily picked us up, dropped us off at our appointment, and dealt with the car while we were riding. She then picked us up and dropped us back off at the car, all the while smiling and being incredibly kind and helpful. Sunday morning, it was much of the same: a delicious breakfast and a bit of relaxing on the deck. Would come back over and over again. The Room(s): We stayed in the Summer room, which was perfect for two. It had a cute electric fire place, a massive bathroom, and two slices of apple pie waiting for us at check in. The hosts do a clean-up around noon for a nice "hotel" maid-service vibe. We peeked into the other rooms and they all seem spacious and clean. We never really heard or saw the other guests except at breakfast. Note that there are only single-bed rooms, so it's great if you're a couple or two friends/family members who don't mind sharing a bed. The Amenities: You better be a dog lover. There are five beautiful and boisterous golden retrievers that will melt your heart, along with (I think) three cats. They're all well behaved and sweet as (apple) pie. Breakfast is served at 9am family style, and the quality was grade A. Free wifi in the guest quarters. Note, the main house and the guest house (with the B&B rooms) are separated, so your hosts are always near, but not in the same space. I was a fan of this set up. There's parking in the driveway, a fridge stocked with drinks and ice cream, redvines, candies, cookies, and bowls of jelly beans throughout the house. You have access to the living room, pantry, patio deck, and pool/hot tub, so there's plenty of room to spread out. There's also a small bookshelf and DVD shelf to keep you entertained on your stay. The Location: Julian is tiny, so you're really only about one-two walking blocks from the good wineries, eateries, gift shops, and bakeries. Don't leave without some more pie! A fantastic B&B with hosts that love to to help. Highly recommend.

Yelp
From the outside it looks plain but the inside is far from being plain. The heaters work very well and the decor inside is designed and build very solid! The kitchen has pans, plates, silverware, cups, microwave, frige - it has it all. Even and bottle and wine opener for your spirits. The master bedroom is big with a walk-in closet also. There is a cozy pull-out bed with a TV and movies for the children on the second floor. The bathrooms and clean there are bathtubs are Jacuzzi style. We stayed for three days during December and it was very relaxing and about a mile away from main street Julian. The TV's had Direct TV so that was a plus. We really enjoyed our stay here and we plan on coming back again this year. I highly recommend this place, it is well built, relaxing, easy to get to and all the accommodations even free WiFi connection.

Yelp
Jim and Julie also are the hosts of Eagle in the Pines, their dog-friendly cabin, just a short distance from their B&B. It's tough for my husband and I to find a nice place that will take our two big dogs, and we're so grateful that they don't have any size limitations here. The cabin is a gorgeous A-frame, and filled with every amenity you could ask for. There's a nice-sized fenced area for the dogs to play in with a little porch where we have our morning coffee. One gigantic bedroom upstairs with a huge king bed, and another nice-sized bedroom, and both have beautiful large bathrooms. I especially like the giant jetted tub downstairs. The kitchen is fantastic and they have everything we need to cook up a storm. The living room has a charming gas fireplace and hookups for an iPod to the stereo. There's also wifi and tons of board games. Everything is perfectly clean, thoughtfully appointed, and lovingly decorated. We just returned from our second visit, and will be coming back as soon as we can get away again.

Yelp
Jim and Julie were great host and made our trip to Julian well worth it. The place was clean and very welcoming, even their golden retrievers were lovable. In the morning we woke to an amazing homemade breakfast. This is the place to stay when you go to Julian.

Yelp
We were up here on Mothers day weekend for the wife's birthday. Awesome place. Owners were amazing(Thank you Jim & Julie). Breakfast was made each morning(close to the best). Rooms are clean, very homey feel, fireplace a nice touch, felt the warmth and kindness. If you plan to stay in Julian, this is your destination. Walk to all in a couple minutes. Bonus was the friendly and lovable dogs. We'll be back.

Yelp
This B&B was just fantastic. My wife and I stayed there for our 5th wedding anniversary and we loved every minute of it. Jim and Julie were wonderful hosts and the house was well kept and comfortable. J&J went above and beyond to make us feel at home and cater to our every need. They even rounded up some locally made gluten free treats for my wife so she would have something while I was devouring the complimentary pie ;) If you want to explore the town yet have some peace the location can't be beaten. It's on the hill above the town but far enough away to be very peaceful.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here with my in-laws in December and had an amazing time! We stayed for two nights. My husband and I in the Winter Room and my in-laws in the Spring Room. We loved the winter room! The fireplace kept the room warm all night! The Spring Room was also great since it is the only one on the second floor and has a small private living room area. Jim was great and we loved Will, Grace, and Luke. The breakfast was amazing both mornings, with more than enough food to go around. Jim even offered to make my coffee, using his milk frother...yum! They also make sure to leave snacks out during the stay...turtle brownies and apple pie! It's also close enough to walk to Main Street. We love Julian and will definitely come back to this B&B. We are even considering making it an annual family vacation. ** Must love dogs : )

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at the Eaglenest Bed & Breakfast!!!!! Here are the highlights: * Owners are super friendly and welcoming * They make homemade treats daily * Extremely cozy and comfortable rooms (we stayed in the Summer room) * Breakfast is very good and they will cater to dietary restrictions * Attention to detail is remarkable The Summer room was great. It has a kings size bed loaded with plush, warm blankets. A private bathroom with a good size tub. A flat screen TV with a small sitting area. This room also has an electric fireplace which I thought was going to be cheezy but it gave the room ambiance and kept it really toasty. It is the least expensive of their 4 rooms because it's probably the smallest and is located right off the front door of the house. It was a great room and I would definitely book it again but I'd also like to experience the other 3 rooms. This was our first time at a Bed & Breakfast and I was thoroughly impressed. I would definitely come back here next time we are in the Julian area.

Yelp
This past weekend I was lucky enough to get a chance to stay at this picturesque and relaxing bed and breakfast. Not only was this the ideal way to relax and get away for the weekend but Jim and Julie did everything possible to make the weekend even more enjoyable. The breakfasts they served were delicious and they provided an abundance of fresh fruit (as well as delicious baked goods for you sweet lovers out there). The property itself is charming and located a short stroll from the popular areas of Julian. In addition their furbabies are some of the friendliest and most well behaved dogs I have ever encountered. My personal favorite is Georgie! She will sit calmly by your side and is the perfect companion for lounging. This is probably one of my favorite bed and breakfasts that I have ever stayed at and it was made even more amazing by the amazing hosts! If you're in Julian or just looking for a weekend getaway I wholeheartedly recommend this place! You'll leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated from an amazing weekend!

My wife and I have been coming here for 14 years now to celebrate our anniversary. This is an amazing place and the hosts, Jim and Julie are the best. So friendly and have become like family, not to mention all the golden retrievers that great is in the morning. Truly one of our favorite parts about staying here. The Eaglenest is located in the perfect spot to walk through Julian, literally a one min walk and you are in the middle of all the shops and restaurants! Jim is a fantastic chef and the breakfast are amazing. I don't think we have had the same meal twice in 14 years. The bed and breakfast is beautiful and immaculate always stocked with great treats, ice cream, flavored coffee creamer, popcorn and DVD movie selections. In fact, our room always has a wonderful dessert waiting for us. I can't say enough great things about the Eaglenest or Jim and Julie! This place is highly recommended!

Yelp
My husband and I got married at the end of February and closed on our new house after a harrowing escrow experience at the end of March. Those weeks didn't leave a lot of time for honeymooning but we desperately needed to get away. With one day's notice, I called Jim&Julie and they happened to have the Summer Room available for the weekend. I can't even describe how healing (emotionally physically and spiritually) our time at Eaglenest was. Our room was cozy and cheerful; we absolutely crashed in the comfy sheets on the first night. During breakfast the next day, we were greeted by Eaglesnest's ambassadors, Jim&Julie's three Golden Retrievers. As much as the dogs undoubtedly appreciated all the belly rubs that I bestowed on them for the next couple days, I was the lucky one for getting all the puppy lovin' that I don't get at home from our angst-filled kitty. We spent a good hour of Saturday morning reading and napping in backyard hammock. Later that night, Jim&Julie provided us with some bathrobes and went into their hot tub which sat under a sea of stars. The romance package is worth the extra cost. Debbie, the gifted massage therapist, who works with them was literally the best that my husband or I had ever had. The horse&carriage ride was such a fun way to spend the afternoon and we got a kick out of the fact that Brett, the horse, gave us curbside service to our dinner reservations. Next to marrying each other, visiting Eaglenest and Julian was one of the best decisions that we've made in months.

Yelp
Such a great place to stay!!! We had so much fun petting the Golden's (and the cats) Julie was amazing and made us feel right at home, from the moment we stepped out of the car, until the time we said goodbye. Fresh pie waiting in our room on arrival, and freshly made brownies the next night. The pool was wonderful and the fire pit under the stars was so relaxing. Truly a one of a kind place. We will definitely be back, we need to meet Jim since he was on vacation when we visited.

Yelp
We spent one night at Eaglenest and had a great time! Jim was such a great host and the five golden retrievers were just as great...we were treated by Jim and the puppies when we arrived. We stayed in the Winter room and it felt like home. The next morning we woke up to all 5 dogs giving us puppy love and Jim prepared an awesome feast for breakfast. I've been to Julien many times but going this way was the coolest experience by far.

Yelp
We have stayed at B&B's from coast to coast. Newport Rhode Island to Big Bear California. Eaglenest Bed & Breakfast in Julian California is top of the top. Both Mike and I found it to be a very special place. Jim and Julie are your gracious hosts. They pay attention to detail, and I mean every detail. They are warm, welcoming, and genuinely positive energy people. They put so much love and care into their B&B, and it shows around every corner. We instantly felt like family the moment Jim came walking up to greet us with their golden retrievers. The rooms are immaculate. The food was delicious, and presented with care in a beautiful, country victorian kitchen that was the most charming I have ever seen. Private hot tubs, secluded decks at sunset, in-room fire places (which they prepare for your arrival), apple strudel waiting for you in your room, DIVINE aromatherapy soaps in your bath, and not to mention the best views in Julian, day or night. My husband and I live and work in Los Angeles, and often crave a peaceful, and indulgent getaway. Eaglenest Bed & Breakfast was a perfect find for us. Eaglenest is blocks away from all of the shops, wineries, and bakeries of Julian. Jim & Julie's victorian paradise on the hill is the only place to stay in our book. Relaxing, peaceful, quiet, and rejuvenating, with personalized service. We had such a wonderful experience, and cannot wait to return. Thank you Jim and Julie for your kindness, and making our wedding anniversary incredibly memorable by sharing your amazing bed & breakfast with us!

Yelp
Friendly folks, good and clean rooms with a perfect touch of charm. We stayed in the Winter room because I wanted a fireplace in the room which we had going both nights. Jim was good to keep the firewood coming. We were welcomed by some homemade pie of course. So good! Breakfast was superb!

Yelp
This cozy and beautiful B&B was absolutely AMAZING!!! Highly recommended for anyone who has never been here before it's a must try and check it out for yourself. Julie and Jim are the best and their hospitality was far and beyond they made you feel right at home. Everything was beautiful and so VERY relaxing. Will definitely be back very soon! I rate this place a 6 star!! And their golden retrievers are just absolutely adorable the sweetest ever. Their breakfast was delicious. Loved the pancakes and everything else just like a gourmet restaurant. Jim is an awesome cook!! We stayed in the Spring room upstairs and it was a piece of heaven. Loved the views they were spectacular...we stayed here for my wifeys B-day yesterday and she just fell in love with everything about this B&B! Fireplace was super cozy too and the room was immaculate. And Julie took care of our dinner reservations at Romanos prior to our stay and booked my wifes massage appointment as well. She was on top of it and was such a big help. Also, Debbie who did my wifes massage was excellent and must try her massages too sometime. Can't wait for our next trip back such a fun and little getaway away from home. Felt like it was our home!! Thank you so much again Julie and Jim!

Yelp
My wife and I choose to spend our 54th anniversary in Julian. We selected Eagles Nest based on reviews, and they were right. When we arrived we were greeted by Wil, Gracie and George, three of the five, house golden retrievers. Jim showed us our room (Spring), king bed, private bath, sitting area and access to the deck overlooking the valley and mountains. Breakfast the following day was over the top; French toast, fresh squeezed orange juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt/granola parfait. Later in the day, home made apple crisp was served up, delicious. If you want to get away for some private time and unwind, this is the place. You can walk to main street in less then 5 minutes. if you want to enjoy a hot tub, let Jim know, based on the time of year and weather, it does take a couple of hours to heat it up. We will be back

Yelp
Wow. These folks really thought of everything! The owners were so friendly...even their dogs make you feel like family! We stayed in the Summer room (the best room they have IMO) and LOVED it. Huge comfy king bed, private bath, sitting area with fireplace...beautiful. They even have bowls of candy and chocolate throughout the home and every detail makes you feel relaxed and at home. Oh, yeah...they also put out a mountain of the probably the BEST brownies I've ever had in my life. I think my boyfriend and I ate almost all of them :P Sorry, everyone else! Great place to stay. Clean, friendly, comfortable and an amazing breakfast. Everything you could ever ask for in a B&B. We'll definitely stay again :)

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here 2 weeks ago. It was an AMAZING and UNFORGETTABLE experience! We stayed in the Autumn room. The room was very quaint and so cozy. The fire place was on when we arrived, the room was impeccable with tea bags, a coffee machine, fan, everything you need to feel right at home. The owners were very friendly and incredibly welcoming. They have 5 golden retrievers! The breakfast was delightful. Eggs, baked pears, fresh juice, fruit. We were so full that we didn't need to eat lunch! I definitely recommend staying here if you are in the Julian area. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!

Yelp
This is the most charming "gem" in Julian! My husband and I have gone 3 years in a row over the 3-day holiday weekend and just love everything about Eaglenest. Jim and Julie are the most gracious hosts and continue to find ways to update and improve their B&B. The breakfasts are delicious and there seems to always be some sort of tasty treat on the hallway table as we returned from our shopping trip to downtown Julian. Our Autumn room has the most comfortable chairs to snuggle up in to take an afternoon nap. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at Julie and Jim's B&B. Warm fireplace, delicious breakfast and wonderful crumb cake for the taking. Very clean and quiet.

Yelp
I'm almost reluctant to leave a review, because I'd like to keep this place a secret. But I also want Jim and Julie to continue running a successful business, so I'm sharing the secret: this is the best B&B I've ever stayed in. If you're allergic to dogs, don't stay here (they have five friendly golden retrievers), but otherwise, this is a perfect place. Julie, the hostess, is one of the warmest people you'll ever meet (very much a "Sedona type"), and Jim makes huge, elaborate breakfasts that will satisfy anyone. Gazing at the stars from the hot tub has been the high point of both of my stays at Eaglenest (just give Jim a couple hours advance notice to heat it up). There's a reason why this place has nothing but 5-star reviews, and why, on my most recent visit, *everyone* staying there was a repeat visitor. This place is the best.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I couldn't have imagined a more amazing place to stay than at Julie and Jim's bed and breakfast. It really made our trip to Julian spectacular and we feel blessed to have come across two incredibly giving individuals. We stayed in the Summer room and it was even better than in the pictures. Everything from the linens and towels, to the bed and pillows, to the freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast (not to mention the entire breakfast!), the pool, the fire pit - all of it was beyond. Jim and Julie really made us feel at home and like family. Jim is one hell of a cook and makes the most incredible breakfasts! They both have great stories to tell and we would all often share ours at breakfast time. Our next trip to Julian will definitely be booked at Eaglenest and we would urge you to do the same if you want to have an outstanding trip! Thanks very much Jim, Julian and the Eaglenest pooches!

Yelp
If I could give 10 STARS, I would. 5 STARS FOR EACH NIGHT my wife and I stayed there. Jim and Julie not only run the best bed and breakfast in Julian but probably one of the best in the country. Fresh squeezed orange juice every morning, coupled with Jim and Julie's fantastic and gourmet breakfasts (better than Marston's in Pasadena or Dish in La Crescenta or 5 times better than any chain breakfast restaurant you have been). Fresh, in season fruit, country trimmings etc. And that is just the beginning. My wife had a massage on the deck of our Winter room (best room with real fire place). Jim and Julie not only make the beds but replenish the fireplace EVERY day. Then Jim made our entire itinerary, printed. Celebrating our anniversary meant Jim pampered us as well as any Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons we can think of. He printed our and had ready our dinner reservations, our horseback riding (with directions), carriage ride, massage, and second dinner. Then there is the swimming pool, hot tub, hammock, movie library, drinks readily chilled, oven fresh brownies under glass, on and on. Simply, the top is Jim and Julie become soul mates during our visit. Jim made a minor mistake with our stay and went so far beyond what was necessary that he should be added to the kindhearted hall of fame. I also had a health scare prior to our visit, unresolved until returned home (OK) and Julie and JIm prayed with us. Halleluyah and blessings to both. You will be loved, you will be cherished in your visit. These two belong in Yelp Hall of Fame. They make Yelp worth visiting. We've recommended our parents stay there, others and we will return just to stay with them again. We are better people for knowing them.

Yelp
This was a fantastic place! After you stay here you will not want to go anyplace else! From the moment you arrive until you leave the hosts, Jim and Julie make you feel comfortable and part of their family. The breakfasts made by Jim were delicious and more than you could eat. The pool was cool and refreshing! They have some golden retrievers that were so sweet and friendly. Loved it here. We will definitely being going back! Thanks Jim and Julie for the fantastic time. Loved it!

Yelp
My husband and I really enjoyed staying at this B&B. Owners/Innkeepers Jim & Julie went out of their way to ensure all guests received everything they needed or wanted. Very clean and wonderful homey touches everywhere. Their Golden Retrievers are adorable and very friendly. (Although when I get home I know my pups will think I "cheated" on them.). We also enjoyed watching the wild birds come up to the balcony in the morning to get their nuts for the day. Charming place right around the corner from downtown Julian.
