The 32 Best Family-Friendly Hotels in Europe | Condé Nast Traveler

"On Halkidiki’s third peninsula, Eagles Villas offered the private-pool, family-owned villa formula I craved: thoughtful in-room extras (mini bathrobes, bubbles for large bathtubs), private pools and a shallow beach, plus a Scott Dunn Explorers Kids Club that outfits children with a canary-yellow rash vest, backpack, hat and water bottle on arrival. The Explorers Club’s light-filled spaces for babies upward, activities like bug hunts, messy play and sandcastle sessions, and picture updates on WhatsApp let parents steal long reading or float hours in the infinity pool while kids have a ridiculous amount of fun. We stayed in Villa 602 as a family of five (three daughters aged 16, 13 and 8) and had a wonderful time. The villa was spacious, modern and very comfortable, with a stunning view of the Halkidiki coast from the master bedroom. Even with the girls sharing the lounge, there was plenty of room.||The villa pool was lovely (though unheated), but we mostly used the main pool where Yiannis and Eleni looked after us so well—friendly, funny and professional. The private beach is beautiful, with clear warm water, soft sand, beach bars and water sports.||We were half board and tried all the restaurants. Lofos (Italian) was very good, Vinum and the buffet were average, but Armyra was excellent—great seafood, atmosphere and live Greek music. Breakfast for villa guests was separate and felt more premium than the main hotel.||Overall, Eagles Villas offers the privacy of a villa with the facilities of a resort. Service was excellent, the setting was stunning, and it never felt too crowded. We’d happily return.

From the moment we arrived, the service was superb. We were warmly welcomed and treated to a golf cart ride to the villa check-in, along with a refreshing glass of champagne. The staff took time to thoroughly explain all the activities and options around the resort, and our bags were delivered straight to our room while we checked in. Our villa exceeded expectations, complete with a private patio and pool that struck the perfect balance between privacy and the resort atmosphere. The staff throughout our stay were exceptional, always attentive without being intrusive. The private beach area was beautiful, with comfortable loungers and shade umbrellas, making it the perfect spot to relax. Overall, our stay was better than we could have hoped for, and we can’t wait to return.

We stayed in the Junior Pool Villa and loved it! The view from the villa towards the sea was absolutely beautiful. The terrace with the dining table, comfy chairs, and the small private pool was perfect for relaxing. There was also an outdoor shower with lots of privacy, which we used quite often. Breakfast at Lofos, the villas’ restaurant, was excellent, with a wide variety of options and very friendly, personal service. Special thanks to our wonderful servers Vassili and Anastasia who made the experience even better. We had dinner twice at the hotel’s main restaurant buffet (part of the resort, not the villas) the buffet was extensive and the food quality was excellent. We also celebrated a special event during our stay and booked a tasting menu at the chef’s restaurant that evening. It was fantastic and made the occasion even more memorable! The private beach was wonderful equipped with plenty of comfortable loungers and umbrellas. It was quiet and peaceful, with calm, crystal-clear waters that made it a perfect spot to unwind. The buggy service from the villas to the beach and restaurants was very convenient and efficient. A big shoutout to our buggy driver Dimos, who was friendly and always punctual. For guests booking at least five nights, the airport transfer service from Thessaloniki Airport was excellent and really made the trip easier, especially since the resort is about two hours away from the airport. Last but not least, a special thank you to the hotel manager, Vassili, who was super friendly and very helpful throughout our stay.

We have stayed in Eagles Villas for one week for our 25th anniversary. We combined Eagles Villas with another resort on Crete, and our stay was just Superb. It was everything we hoped for, for our anniversary: beautiful location, excellent villa, extra special service (thanks you Ioanna Arvanitou). We were welcomed with champaign. Great breakfast and service in Lofos, and we dined in the resort in different options, we loved it all, especially the Gyros and deserts. |We also experienced two excursions offered by the hotel, and they were excellent. |We loved the quiet Villas area combined with the busier beach area of the resort. |Excellent 'umbrella' service on the beach. |Thank you for taking care of us, it will be a week we will remember very, very long!

This is our second visit to the villas as we so enjoyed the first in June 2025.||The villas are well equipped, clean & attractively designed. The cleaning staff are excellent & efficient. The villa’s pool was well kept, maintained & a perfect temperature. The level of privacy at the villa is also an attractive feature.||The views are spectacular & sunsets amazing. However, it is the excellence of the staff & the good quality food served particularly in Lofus & Vinum. All the staff are friendly & & helpful but in these two restaurants the service is charming & exceptional. Room service is also of good quality. The gourmet restaurant Kamares is an artistic experience in a beautiful setting.||Best to book restaurants either before or immediately on arrival to avoid disappointment. There is a what’s app facility to contact staff. You can opt for the bin vivant package but the menu options are shorter I understand. We prefer to keep our options open & dine off the full menus & wine lists, but to each his own! ||There are plenty of activities if you’re looking for something else to do both within the resort & externally. ||A vital piece of information is that the beach is sandy but stony on entry. If you have sensitive feet then little sea shoes are an absolute essential. The sea is warm & clear.||The buggies are on demand & are comfortable & driven with care. This is imperative as the site is set on a hillside (thus affording the fabulous views) & walking up would be for the very fit !||I can’t fault anything, it ticks all our boxes. There are always minor niggles in any resort holiday, but any request was sorted out pleasantly & swiftly. If you don’t want main road noise best to be on the right hand side looking out from the villa reception.||The free transfer is a bonus, but it can be tight on the return journey time wise - the journey is realistically between 90-120 minutes so something to be aware of.||We were sorry not to have seen Ioanna Arvanitou except on departure but remember her vividly from our visit in June when she was amazingly helpful & interesting to talk to about the local area.||We will be returning in 2026 & hope the costings for early June & mid September 2026 are available soon on the website.

Fabulous stay at Eagles Villas, everything was perfect. The service from the staff at the bars, the restaurants and a special mention of Ioanna Arvanitou the Concierge Villas Manager, she was super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. ||The Villa was beautiful, we were on the all inclusive package and the food was amazing, especially lunch at the Fish restaurant and the Italian. We went on a private boat trip which was also a fabulous experience. I cant recommend more and we will be back!

We spent a week at Eagles Villas in July, staying in a two-bedroom villa with a private garden – and I can say without hesitation: it was the perfect vacation for our family.||From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Every staff member we encountered was kind, warm, and professional – but a very special thanks goes to Ioanna Arvanitou, the Villas Concierge, whose attentiveness, charm, and efficiency made us feel truly cared for.|What made this holiday so memorable was the combination of luxury, privacy, and genuine hospitality. We've stayed at many high-end hotels around the world, but this was the first time we felt such a consistent level of sincere friendliness and attentiveness. You can tell the staff here genuinely enjoy their work – and that makes all the difference.||Contrary to some critical reviews we had read beforehand, we were very impressed with the food. Each restaurant has its own character, but our personal favourite was Lofos, with its elegant atmosphere and Italian-inspired dishes. Also, Armyra, the beachfront restaurant, offered a beautiful setting – especially in the evening when traditional Greek live music plays in the background. Pro tip: Make reservations in advance, especially if you want to secure a spot on the outdoor terrace – it’s worth it!|One of the absolute highlights of our trip was the private boat tour, which we cannot recommend enough. Our captain, Vasilis, was relaxed, knowledgeable, and truly went the extra mile to create a unique and unforgettable experience on the water. In summary: Eagles Villas exceeded all our expectations. It gave us everything we look for in a holiday – peace, beauty, excellent food, and outstanding service. We're already planning our return.

We have been going to Eagles Resort for 11 years now, and this was our sixth stay at the Villa. It really feels like a home away from home, because we know that we will go there and be able to properly relax. We do visit other resorts, but there is something about Eagles Villas, that always makes us think that other resorts are not as good, so we always go back to it.||||The staff are very professional, friendly and smiling, without however being overimposing or fake. You really get the sense that the staff feel happy working at the resort, which for my family at least is important. Often what might ruin an experience at a resort is if we sense staff are mistreated even though they are trying to be professional. The customers at the resort generally also tend to be people who are respectful of other guests and staff, which creates a lovely atmosphere. ||||The resort is overall beautiful, very well tended to and clean, beautifully laid out with wonderful views from wherever you turn. In the evening at the villas it is lovely and quiet, very peaceful. ||||The beach is long and the sun loungers well spaced out. There are numerous activities to do at the hotel. We love the sea so we focused on swimming, diving from the pontoon (such fun!) and doing waterspouts and scuba diving. The Athos scuba diving team are exceptional, highly professional and encouraging and we very much enjoyed taking part. It is important to note that water sports and scuba diving or snorkelling are extra and you need to pay cash or card. ||||As for the food there are many options. We loved Armyra and Eagles Club for mediterranean lunches and our favourites for dinner were Lofos and Kamares. We also really liked the food and service at Vinum. As for Armyra, even though it was lovely, a few staff members were not as professional as in the other restaurants, did not have the same amount of courtesy or were not so much 'on the ball'...maybe not as well trained... Armyra felt a bit like an overpriced taverna, rather than a restaurant at a luxury resort, but maybe that is the aim... ||||We were on the Bon Vivant package, which is like an all inclusive with a few exceptions. It is worth it if you are a family with children because there is endless juice/ water and ice-creams included. Also if you like drinking alcohol and cocktails, want endless ice-creams and can have a three course meal at lunch at dinner, it is worth it. We found we were not making full use of it because we could not eat as much, and we do not drink much.||||One thing the hotel could do better, is to try and maybe engage guests in recycling, like have separate bins for things in all locations and in the rooms? I do not know if that would be possible, but it is such a shame that so much waste is going to a landfill.||||There are also numerous areas exploring near Eagles Villas, like a boat tour of the Mount Athos Monasteries and taking the passenger ferry across to the island of Ammouliani, which has some exceptional beaches. ||||We look forward to going to Eagles Villas again and we have been recommending it to friends and family!
