Early Bird West Des Moines

Great first experience at Early Bird! We had a late Friday lunch and had most of the place to ourselves. Our server was helpful and prompt and the food was even better. We had the Banana Bread French Toast and a Combo Meal that had Cinnamon Roll Pancakes--both were fabulous!! We will return to try some of the other options on the menu.

While the wait was long, we were able to sit at the bar as soon as we walked in and I’m glad we chose to stay and eat there. The “Cinny-bobs” (first picture) were AMAZING. I cannot recommend them enough as an appetizer! I had the Churro Waffles for my meal and my sweet tooth was definitely overly satisfied between the two of these, but I don’t think I’d order anything different if I went again. The waffles were fluffy and slightly crispy on the outside and were perfect. Overall delicious food!

Early Bird in West Des Moines is such a solid weekend breakfast spot. We had the Traveler’s Omelette and the Crab Rangoon Omelette, and both were full of flavor! The food and service are always consistently excellent. Highly recommend for a fun, reliable brunch stop!

The restaurant has a cozy feel and is very clean. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was very good. We had the Crab Rangoon which was made with real cream cheese, yum! They were creamy and very flavorful. The best ones I have had and the sauce that comes with them complements them well. The broth for my noodles also had good flavor and all ingredients were cook just right. Seafood was not rubbery.

It was packed but very easy to get on the wait list. Staff were friendly and food was very good.

My sister and I came in today for the first time, and had the best experience ever! From the moment we walked in until we left, the service was phenomenal! I have never had this experience in my life! We were greeted with kindness and laughter! Our server knew the menu and told us about different drinks and food items. He checked up on us regularly. We had other staff stop by to talk with us, to see how we were doing. I even stopped the manager and spoke with him and told him about our great experience and that he should be proud! We are definitely going back! And we highly recommend!!!

Sadly ronald mcdonald breakfast cooked and seasoned my eggs and bacon better... cheap diner style breakfast with lots of $$$ and tiny payoff. Honestly Great service and very cool and cozy atmosphere with a nice bar, great decoration and colors, cool drinks too but i didnt get one for breakfast. There are better breakfast spots in the nearby West des moines / waukee area

Went to Early Bird West Des Moines for brunch. The place and atmosphere was just alright. Food was a little underwhelming considering the price and service was just okay. Not terrible, but not really a spot I’d go out of my way for.

This menu is insane! If you love a good brunch with more than just eggs, pancakes, and breakfast meats, come here! We had hash holes and breakfast egg rolls to start. These were . Flavorful and delish! For my meal, I split the Wonderful Day with my friend. No complaints. The jam with the sausage and the perfectly cooked biscuit = Mmmm!!! I also got a side of butternut squash soup. (My fave!) For drinks we had mimosas and a pumpkin latte. All of which hit the spot. These inside was loud, but cute. We sat outside so we could chat. The service was great. Seriously. Can I franchise this place in Orlando? I need it closer to me!

Busy place, especially on a misty Saturday morning, so the patio wasn't being used. Waited a bit over an hour for a party of 7, but we did get on the waitlist from home, so we headed over once our number was getting in the low single digits. Obviously our party size delayed us a bit. At any rate, once we got inside, we got our menus and started to peruse the thorough menu. We had 2 granddaughters with us, so they got French Toast Sticks and Pancakes from the kids menu. They ate most/all of them, so that's a bot in their favor! I got the Mediterranean Omlette from the seasonal menu...a great choice of lamb, veggies, feta, and of course eggs. Others in our group got Avocado Toast, The El Gordo Burrito (massive!), and the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes (ooey-gooey deliciousness), An extra egg cost $2, which was reasonable. Soda comes in a can for $2.75...a bit high, but mimosas were $9, and other pricing is reasonable. Decent sized dining area, but with large groups and it being a Saturday, people are more leisurely, so the wait gets extended a bit. Service was good, with food runners bringing food out. They do have to bring ketchup and jelly out in tin mini-ramakins, and there are a variety of hot sauces (including Tabasco-my fav) Open seating at the bar holds about 8 total, and is seat yourself. Something for everyone, and good grub...give it a try!

4.5/5! I ordered the two breakfast tacos ($14.75) and the avocado crema on top made them! So good. You have a choice of a side and I chose the tots. To drink, we each had a coffee and a mimosa. The mimosa is a decent size ($9). My boyfriend got the Quesabirria omelet ($17) which is a spin on Birria we've never had! Highly recommend this dish. I'll probably order it next time. It came with toast and hash browns. We will definitely come back again. Things to know: join the yelp waitlist when you're about 8-10 minutes away to be seated quickly (we went on a Saturday morning and this worked well for the two of us). Also, the patio has umbrellas so you're shaded from the heat!

My first visit today. Excellent experience. Kinda expensive but they do what they are doing. I highly recommend this place

Today started simply with a coffee and cream for me...although I did talk my wife into getting a large version of the Strawberry Booziest (see picture)so that I could share some of it. For our meals, my wife ordered the Quesbirria Omelette (see picture) and I opted for the Chilaquiles (see picture). As we have become accustomed...we loved both of them and would highly recommend them. Lastly, our son ordered the Churro Waffle and wasn't able to finish it, so we each got to enjoy a few bites of it - so sweet, so cinnamony and SO delicious!

We love Early Bird. I love that i can check the wait list on Yelp and know how long the wait is and add my name before I leave the house. They were super busy when we arrived this morning, however our wait wasn't too long since we were altlrwady on the waitlist. If the wait is too long we can usually get two seats at the bar. The staff is always attentive. My dining companion got the chinchillas. He said they were really good. He was debating between two items and asked our waiter for his opinion. The waiter was super honest. I got the chicken sandwhich (mayo on the side) and for my side I got the fruit. The chicken sandwich was very moist. The bun was buttered. It was very delicious. They also have a seasonal menu. They have a number of alcoholic beverages. We usually just do coffee.

Having a craving for Chicken Fried Steak, a large glass of chilled OJ and Cinny Bobs that met all the bells and whistles of good old fashion comfort food that feeds the soul. Stopped in at Early Bird Brunch where the greeting was delightfully Cheery to brighten a stormy day.My server was Gabby S. who was a charming host who served up a heaping platter of warm off the grill chicken fried steak, easy over eggs, toast and a side of cinnamon bobs which were a mound of small cinnamon roll balls where you could dip each in a small scoop of warm cinnamon or warm white icing. The place was buzzing with fifty or more patrons happily engaging in their early morning meal with energized chatter embellished by the good food, warm and friendly environment.

The s'mores hot chocolate was good, chilaquiles was good and flavorful. The price on the menu for the chilaquiles with pork carnitas and egg was $15.50. I removed these two ingredients and added vegan chorizo and paid $21 which was shocking the price went up that much. The restaurant had plenty of space but couples were being put right next to other people. Touching elbows with someone else and not being able to have a conversation with your partner because someone else is right there was uncomfortable.

My latest visit to early bird was definitely full of new items for me! I tried the cinny bobs which were amazing - I highly recommend this appetizer if you have a sweet tooth! I also tried the breakfast tacos and wow - super filling! They stuffed these tacos pretty well, lots of egg and chorizo! Our server was very sweet, she was able to help us out when we had an issue with one of our orders and handled it so well! This place is always busy and noisy on the weekends so it means a lot to have a staff member that was so friendly and knowledgeable!

We hadn't been able to have breakfast at the Early Bird in a while but since we were home this weekend, we figured we'd check out what was new. Service is always amazing and food hit the spot for breakfast. The restaurant is always so bright and welcoming like a breakfast spot should be! We tried one of their new Fall items: maple bacon cream cheese tarts. The layers of buttery pastry dough, mixed with sweet maple and decadent cream cheese, only were complimented but the real bacon sprinkled on top! A must try! We heard a new location will be opening up downtown and we can't wait to try it!

Terrible service. The place is small and people lined up out the door. took 10 minutes to get on the waitlist. 1 hour waitlist and waiting in the car instead of outside. said 15 minutes then we removed from waitlist after 2.

Cute marketing. Breakfast had good flavors but poor execution. Hash browns were slightly crunchy and undercooked. The redo was basically burned. Menus dirty. Bathrooms had no paper towels. Server seemed fed up.

At first this place looks interesting but then as you walk in it seems like IHOP. There is 60's-80's theme music playing overhead and the seating is like a community center with the kitchen staff easily accessible for viewing. First time trying this place and not sure we'll go back due to lack of flavor and privacy. The tables are so close together you hear everyone else's conversations and can barely hear each other. Also the parking is just not ideal for the location, and crowded.

Early Bird is my favorite brunch spot! I originally tried this in Omaha, Nebraska and was pleasantly surprised when they opened one in the Des Moines area. Early Bird has a wide variety of breakfast options from delicious and giant cinnamon roll pancakes to decadent avocado toast. Even their gluten-free and vegan waffle tastes good! One thing to know about this place is that you almost always have to put your name in before you go. Join the wait on Yelp because a spot here is in high demand so there's almost always a long wait. Once you get in, the service is relatively quick and everyone we interacted with was kind even during a stressful and busy Mother's Day brunch. Looking for a light and modern place to eat brunch that has something for everyone? This is your spot! Try anything in the menu and I almost guarantee you won't be disappointed.

This place is a local favorite and it's no wonder why, the Hash Holes, a breakfast appetizers are amazing! A great menu with so many choices will make you want to return again and again!

One of my favorite breakfast spots! I usually order the breakfast burrito but this time I had the kielbasa special which was really tasty. The Denver scramble is also very enjoyable but everything on the menu is good. There is a full bar for a boozy brunch. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating which is a plus because it can get pretty busy.

The servers were amazing. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant. Also, kid friendly environment as well.

This is our 3rd or 4th time here & we just love it! These churro waffles were to die for. They tasted like a funnel cake but BETTER! Omg I will definitely be getting these again. The caramel latte was so delicious I cannot wait to go back! Service is great every time. It wasn't as busy this time which was so nice! Always fun no matter what

Just got a call from Kelly regarding the missing items and she definitely went above and beyond to make things right. My missing item was only a few dollars - but rather than just giving me a refund she offered me a gift card. I'm happy someone was able to get in contact with me to resolve this issue and will be eager to try this place again. Thanks again Kelly.

Overall experience was pretty good. The food and service was decent, but the coffee wasn't great. They were unable to make warm espresso drinks the day we visited as well. I would definitely stop by again to try some other menu items.

Love the brunch! Amazing staff! Food is delicious and portions are huge. Great egg white options, and the come unoriginal w/English muffin + sausage is my fave. Gotta get the hash holes too!

Had a great quick brunch on a weekday. Service was a little slow to start but she was very friendly. My Veg Head Benny was delicious though it was a bit skimpy on the mushrooms that were supposed to be a wild mushroom medly-I probably only had 2-4 small pieces on each english muffin. My partner enjoyed the sandwich, though I think it could've been a bit warmer. Tots were crispy but plain, I enjoyed the hashbrowns seasoning.

Stopped by Saturday around 10:00 am wait time was 30-45 minutes. Checked into the Yelp waiting list before leaving the house and by the time I arrived, my table was almost ready, place is small and can get crowded. The food was great and the service was fast. However the Paloma was one of the worst I've had, please consider switching out the cup.

Great food and so many options to choose from! Their iced coffee is amazing and perfectly sweet. Lots of savory and sweet options to order, from various pancakes to different Benedict's and breakfast classics. I ordered the crab cake Benny which was delicious and came with a yummy sauce on top. I wish there was more hollandaise but still really good. Other items ordered were the farnam french toast and el Gordo morning burrito bowl. It was a great meal and the employees were very friendly and helpful. We came on a Monday morning so no wait times. Overall a great brunch!

What a cool place! It was super busy on a Sunday morning but they let us sit at the bar and order right away. Otherwise there was an hour waitlist. There are so many tasty options! It was hard to choose. Ultimately we went with Monkey Business french toast, the Wide awake omelette and the El Gordo Morning Burrito. This place is known for their french toast so although the pancakes looked enticing, we went for the french toast. Food took a while to come out but the waitresses gave our kids these wax strings to play with so time flew by. The food was delicious. My favorite was the omelette. I loved the hashbrowns it came with. The burrito was good but better with some hot sauce. The french toast was honestly a bit too sweet and not "eggy" enough for me. I will try the pancakes next time. PS. I was surprised to see so many people drinking alcohol this early in the morning! The drinks looked good though.

Great food!! It's been hard to get a seat the few times we've gone, but worth the wait.

The menu is so big it's overwhelming. Didn't know what to order. But all of our food was great! The breakfast nachos were so good. The crab Rangoon omelette was limited time so it was great to be able to try it!

First time actually getting into this place. Came once before but the wait was too long. If you plan to try it out they have an online reservation system you will want to use. The place is roomy and well lit, decorated nicely. The service was attentive and very helpful. The food was really good as well. I had the ham eggs Benedict, but they called it something else. I have had better but I enjoyed this one. As an appetizer we ordered cinnamon rolls (again called something different) and they were delicious with a caramel drizzle and melted creamy butter you can add yourself. The fresh fruit was plentiful but we gave it mixed reviews, the strawberries were delicious but the blue berries were not as flavorful as expected. Perhaps it is the time of year. We did not order this, but saw the breakfast burrito and it was HUGE! Will probably try next time. The menu has plenty to choose from and there were plenty of kids so bring the whole family. This is a must try if you are in the area!

We had brunch at Early Bird thanks to a friend's recommendation. Everything was good. The highlight of our order was fried cinnamon dough drizzled with frosting and powdered sugar. Another delightful thing made our day was Autumn- our server very kind and attentive doublechecked things and other staff were very nice to make sure we got what we needed even the restaurant was very busy! They don't take reservations, make sure you join the waitlist

Instagram meets breakfast = Early Bird. Alcohol drinks are good and fresh juice was AMAZING! Service was good- they didn't have ketchup on tables outside. But overall great experience

The Early Bird is an absolute treasure. They put an interesting twist on typical breakfast/brunch and there is something on the menu to please everyone. They have the typical bacon and eggs and the more unusual Shrimp and Grits (my absolute favorite.) This is often a meeting place for a group of us. The only downside is the wait, but if you use the Yelp Waitlist, that cuts down on the time you spend standing in line. Be aware, Early Bird is always busy, but that speaks to the quality of the food, The place is spotlessly clean and the staff is always helpful. Enjoy!!

This our favorite place to brunch! The staff is fantastic, friendly and attentive. The food is excellent and lots of choices. We go on a weekly basis.

Fluffy pancakes were advertised on the menu. They came anything but fluffy. The first batch was thin and runny inside. Definitely undercooked. So we sent both orders back. Next batches came and they were cooked through but still very thin. And they tasted off. We didn't eat either order. Very disappointing. Breakfast tacos and avocado toast were good. But pancakes were a big, big miss.

First experience- will not be back. Son visiting and wanted to try new experience. Had a choice, we should have went to our mainstay- Homegrown. Server came twice- and the second time was to let us know one of our orders was out - that was 10 minutes after order taken. So then the rest of our party received their order- no tableware- waited - waited- then we had to go find a server for tableware. Still no server. The reorder finally came out way after others were done eating- with no visit from server for refills or how is anything for those who had their food- nothing. The food was not even above par. Very disappointing- floor manager didn't even apologize or take action as she kept walking by. Review is to go to Homegrown- never disappointed there- and their food is farm fresh- sometimes you just want to try a new place for fun, but today was not a fun experience.

Pro tip: on the weekends, add yourself to the waitlist on Yelp! Service was good- our server was attentive and speedy to greet us. Coffee was good "diner like" coffee. Overall the food was good. For me, they lost a star because the toast (which was locally sourced) was way too hard and didn't have any butter on it/didn't come with any. Food was not anything special in my opinion. My friends felt the same. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would versus 3. Causal dress. They have gluten free and vegan options which is a plus in my book!

It was very busy on the Sunday morning we went for brunch but our waitress was so attentive! The food was amazing ..... from the breakfast martinis to the cinnamon French toast A+

We went to brunch on New Years Day! I generally don't do breakfast or brunch but we decided since it was the beginning of the year we would treat ourselves... We each had two cocktails and boy they were yummy! I have the Vanilla Latte and the twisted mocha... I tried the corn beef hash and my partner had the chicken fried steak. He loved his and it was huge. Mine was ok but I for sure will not be ordering it again... I don't like hash browns that aren't crispy and these just aren't crisp... not the restaurants fault just my preference... All in all is was a super delightful brunch!!!

We ate here for the first time this morning and it was AMAZING!!! We had quick and friendly service and the food was phenomenal! 10/10 recommend!

Lots of options, food, drinks and coffee are great. Space is a little small, you definitely need to be ready for noise, because it's not a calm environment-there is a lot going on, I don't recommend taking those who don't handle large crowds or close quarters. The service is average. Not terrible but not excellent, wait times should be expected but food was served hot & coffee was filled when needed.

Early Bird (University location) is hands down the best! Huge portions, friendly staff & always great coffee. Breakfast burritos for those who want a food challenge. HUGE!

This place is hoppin! We had a table of 5 adults and one kiddo! The hostess was keeping things moving and shakin' and one in particular did a stellar job keeping us updated and even squeezing us into a comfy alternative so we could get some good food ordered! Big shout out to Rachel P! Love love loved the Biscoffee and the French toast combo ! Definitely will be back again - even in the frigid temperatures!

Food was very good, especially the bacon flight! If you get the corned beef hash order the hollandaise sauce on the side because they tend to drown it.

This is a great, and normally very busy, breakfast and brunch spot. My tacos were very delicious, and the tots were perfectly cooked. Crispy but not too greasy. The chicken biscuit was a little dry and the gravy was interesting but overall a very enjoyable experience.

First time here! One of the worst breakfast I've had. Hashbrowns not done. Asked for eggs over medium, they were barely cooked. The bacon was either cooked two days ago or microwaved. I don't recommend!
