Pros: really pretty. There's a woodland area, a fantastic coffee and snacks van in the morning. Fab pizza in the evening (order in advance!). Reiki was great. Showers basic but roomy and warm water. Lots of sink and water points. Staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming and the yoga was great too.
Slight negatives:
Toilets are basic (no flush, just a hole!) and of the composting variety, it can get a little ripe, but most seasoned campers will be familiar with this. Some campers kept blocking them up which was a little annoying but there are signs on how to use so not sure why that was happening.
It's on a hill, so it's likely you may end up pitched on a slopey area, we were a bit unlucky in that most flat ground was already in use by the time we arrived.
Noise Levels:
To be clear, I couldn't fault the owners who seemed absolutely lovely.
However.....
It was so noisy both during the day and past midnight into the early hours for the two nights we stayed. As a child free camper hoping for a restful, yoga, Reiki camping experience, it wasn't peaceful. Children running around yelling unsupervised well past midnight and then groups of adults shouting, yelling, playing loud music into the early hours. As a seasoned camper (including music festivals) I was really surprised. There are some basic courtesies about camping that many seemed oblivious to: respecting other campers space and just being a little considerate seemed to be beyond many of the other campers' comprehension. The poor owners did suggest to guests that they be a bit quieter lately at night but nothing seemed to work. I got the sense from the owners that this was unusual and perhaps just bad luck for the weekend we stayed.
I feel a bit sad because on paper it sounds right up my alley but I won't be going back, I'm really sorry.
However, if you want a fun weekend away with a group of adults and all the kids, it might just be the ideal campsite!
