We stayed in this great little hotel last weekend for our anniversary and it was very nice. Some of the things that I really liked about it: (1) They knew it was our anniversary and left a nice card and a treat in the room. That was a very nice touch. (2) They're dog friendly. Not just dog-allowing but actually dog-friendly, I like that. (3) The room was decorated in a calm, clean and serene fashion. And (4) they had some thoughtful amenities in the room, like earplugs. Now, being city folk, I didn't need earplugs to sleep out in Friday Harbor, but I could see it being perfect if you had noisy neighbors at night. It's a nice location, a very easy walk to everything in town but still quiet and off the road a little bit.
There were only a few small negatives that kept this from being a five star experience. The guy at the front desk was nice but spread a little thin. There was a line to check in, there was a line when we stopped by to ask a question, and when he told us he would check on something it never happened, probably because there were ten other things waiting for him. The bed was a little uncomfortable. I tend to be pretty picky about mattresses, but when my husband, who could sleep on a floor, complained, I knew it was a little lumpy. It was definitely a roll-to-the-middle experience. Finally, there was a little pet relief area, which was convenience and our dog seemed to really like, but there was some litter in there that should have been cleaned up. My guess is that it, like the ice vending area, is a work in progress.
We didn't get to use the pool or the bikes because we didn't want to leave our pup in the room alone (or take turns staying with her), but it was nice to know the option was there. Overall, we had a nice stay and I would go back there.
