East End Surf Club

My wife and I had an incredible first-time surfing experience with Mike Poli of East End Surfing. From the start, Mike made everything clear and easy to understand—he’s a natural instructor with a calm, confident approach that instantly put us at ease. Even as complete beginners, he had both of us standing on the board and riding waves in no time. We couldn’t believe how quickly we were able to get up and moving! We can’t wait to get back out there and surf again—highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn!

I had an awesome lesson with Mike from East End Surf Club last weekend. He broke down each wave in a way that made sense, and I could feel myself getting better as we went. He also set me up with a board and wetsuit and encouraged me to head back out on my own the next day — doing that helped everything click, and I left feeling way more confident. If you’re new to surfing in Montauk, Mike is your guy!

We always have a great experience with East End Surf Club. This is our third year getting lessons for my now 8 year old there. We've had Derek a few times and he is an excellent and patient teacher. Booking online is so easy.

My son had a lesson with Derek. The conditions were less than ideal - challenging even. They asked us if we wanted to cancel. I asked for their professional opinion weighing my son’s confidence level in the ocean and the ocean environment. Derek made a good call and tailored the lesson to the situation. Booking with East End Surf Club was very easy! My husband and I are from Wisconsin and we booked a semi-private surf lesson on 5/20/2022. We had never surfed in our lives, but it was a goal of ours. Mike was in contact with us all day to relay the surf and/or ocean conditions and wether it was safe for a lesson throughout the day. Our surf instructor was Riley and he was knowledgeable, kind, and was attentive to our safety during the surf lesson. It was Luke and my first time in the ocean and we were a bit nervous. Riley was able to calm our nerves and it was a very positive experience. We are extremely grateful for this opportunity and will continue to advocate for this company. We cannot wait until we return to Montauk!
