Had a great time, loved the scenery, the cashier in the resort store was very friendly, she'll put a smile on your face. It was a little windy the first day but the next was calm an warm. Definitely going back!

Google
Easily my families favorite lake and resort! The staff are always awesome, supportive and helpful. The resort is clean, nice and has everything you need and more. The restaurant is great and reasonably priced. Bonus…the lake is beautiful and my families favorite place to hangout in the summer.

Set in the middle of a caldera, it was surprisingly easy to get to. We did not stay at the resort, but came to fish off the dock and caught a 14 inch rainbow trout within the first 20 minutes. I would categorize the resort as a more rustic place to stay, like an upgrade or a step up from glamping. It's a beautiful place though and there were many people (it was the 4th of July), but it wasn't crowded. The people in the general store were so nice and they had great prices. We will definitely be returning!

We camped with our travel trailer with full hook up. Very close to East Lake. Excellent food and service at the Resort. Try the Huckleberry waffle cone!!

We haven't stayed in the rooms, but the Blue Duck restaurant is quite good. Definitely have the mixed berry cobbler!

My favorite. We come here every year, a few times! It’s beautiful and peaceful. The restaurant is great, the general store is so convenient to have. We do tent camping here, haven’t tried the cabins but we plan to at some point! Angela was so great, addressing questions I had about another upcoming trip, I was trying to work out some logistics and she was super helpful! I just love east lake resort for every reason!

Google
Very enjoyable and relaxing place to stay. The cabins are nice but rustic. Each cabin is unique and well supplied. I found the pricing to be reasonable. Full kitchens in the units. The restaurant is really good. Food and service. There were lots of moths in the cabin the first night but they seem to go away after that. Just keep it in mind. The lake is beautiful with plenty to do there.

Google
What an incredibly peaceful and gorgeous getaway! The owners and staff are super helpful and kind, always going out of their way to make sure every guest feels welcome. The food at the Blue Duck Grill is high quality and the store has a little bit of everything. The location is really magical, highly recommend checking this place out and taking a boat out on the lake too! Sunsets are unmatched ✨️

Yelp
I'm specifically reviewing the Blue Duck Grill. The reservation cabin would only be. 3 star. Mike our waiter was amazing. His service was over the top. But the food was incredible as well. Of course the ambiance at lake front was stunning. I wasn't even that hungry but had the chili and Greek salad. Our party had burgers to fish and chips. All so delicious.

Yelp
Very clean cabins, nice staff and pretty good food! Plus the lake is beautiful! Night time is beautiful n the stars are so bright n so close. Can't see that often in other states!!

Yelp
Always been a great place, but the host is not very friendly. Seriously updated speed bumps? Remember this is RV park not 4WD track, your making it hard and difficult on RV's.

Yelp
We rented the Canvasback cabin for our elderly parents to use while we camped at nearby Paulina Lake. It had obviously just gone through a renovation since the fumes gave me headache shortly after arrival. The closet had the wall apparatus used to hang the closet bar for clothes, but there was no actual bar. The room with the bunk bed had nothing, not even hooks on the wall for hanging clothes. The shower was so tiny you aren't able to shave your legs, and the showerbead was positioned too low for my 5'8 son to use to rinse shampoo. There was no microwave, as indicated in our reservation and the stairs from both entrances were hazardous to our parents. Overall, it worked for us (since our parents just needed to sleep close to a bathroom) but it was a huge disappointment for the price and not something we'll consider again.

Yelp
We just had a horrible lunch there, the food was ok @ best, their service, or our particular server (young male) was an extreme douche. We arrived not knowing if it's seat yourself, or waiting to be seated, so with our group of 8, we asked if we could have a particular table once it was cleaned. Said server was in the process of clearing it, as we asked, he simply replied with how many ppl do u have, someone else said well when you're done cleaning, then he repeated how many ppl do u have, from his increasingly annoyed tone, I read between the lines, and responded we have 8. Sure u can sit there when I'm done, great! Then when we went to order our drinks, his attitude got increasingly more annoyed, and snarky. We'll that difficult task finally hammered out, now the food order.... It started off with my brother in law asking him if he was going to write down our order, because as with every table everybody has modifiers to their orders. After being questioned if he was, he stomped off, I guess to pout? He returned a few minutes later with less attitude, but when asking how we wanted our burgers cooked, my brother in law said medium, after the employee of the year said pink or no pink, he had to repeat himself, because he couldn't interpret pink means medium. Well everybody learned from his annoyed tone and rude ways, to answer as pink, which we all did, yet none of the burgers came out medium, or "pink" to use their Applebees logic. Just janky, every which way, if you don't like you're job quit, you work in a right to work state, so earn your keep.

Yelp
I've been coming here with my family my entire life. Great spot for fishing, kayaking, boating, or grabbing a bite to eat. Boat rentals are always great. They will help you come back in and launch, as well as give tips and supply a net if you ask for one.

Yelp
Blue Dock restaurant next to convenient store,. My husband was hungry so we decide to pop in. He gad a really good burger with onion rings, i had grilled salmon to perfection it came wih mashed potatoes and green beans, meal was better then some restaurants in bend and in Redmond, prices were reasonable and staff was very friendly. A perfect way to end the afternoon after a hike to obsidian.

Yelp
Once you've hit La Pine and you feel like you want to get farther away from it all, turn on Paulina Lake Road. And if Paulina Lake is too crowded for you and you really, really want to get away from it all, then drive a little farther to East Lake. This is a beautiful place we've visited on several occasions, but this time we decided to stay. OK, in the interest of full disclosure, Mr. K and my youngest stayed in the campground for a few days. I was just a day-tripper. This is what happens when you have one child obsessed with fishing and the other one not so much. They have several campgrounds along the lake, as well as cabins, and the resort has about dozen different types of boats for rent. Everything from a party boat for 12 to small fishing boats with outboard motors. You can rent them by the half or full day. The lake is stocked with salmon and the highlight for my son was seeing 35,000 fish delivered to the lake during their stay. Unfortunately, most of their time was spent hooking garbage fish. The campground was nice, but make sure you pack in enough provisions for your stay. The restaurant and snack shack are only open for breakfast and lunch and it is a long drive back to La Pine (18 miles). One other important note. There is a day use fee if you are visiting the area ($5/day), but you do not need to pay this if you are staying at the campground and leave your car at your campsite. We also went in search of the hot springs, but weren't successful at finding anything that you'd want to bathe in. Just found the sweet, sweet smell of sulfer and a few bubbles.

Yelp
Lunch yesterday. Although not too busy, only 2 waitresses to handle the inside and outside business. Waited 50 minutes for lunch. 3 of us got what they ordered, 1 got something else so order had to go back into the kitchen for a remake that made the wait a full hour for food. In all fairness, the meal was fine considering there were not many choices in this remote area. When the bill came, the wrong (and more expensive) meal was listed. Easily remedied the error. We asked for a bit more water and it was "crickets". Apparently we were not heard. MY advice is.....bring a picnic to enjoy this lovely area.

Yelp
The people in the general store are very nice and are there to make sure you have a good time. However I would warn all about renting a boat from east lake. The boats are old and don't have motors big enough to run them. We got a boat with a trolling motor and it drained the batteries every 1.5 hours. This forced us to go back to the dock and get new batteries (6 total) which wasted about 4 hours of our day. When speaking with the staff members, Steven said, "sometime life throws you a curve ball" and they also said it was a busy weekend and that they didn't have any good boats left. We reserved and paid for a boat three week ahead of time and therefore should have had first priority of a functioning boat. We would have appreciated if they just called us in advance or told us their boats were broke down and there wasn't a good one ready. We asked for a refund and they refused and we were stuck paying full price when we only used the boat for fishing for half the allotted time we paid. Due to this poor customer service, we will choose other places to fish rather than east lake. I don't plan on ever renting from them again or recommending others to do so. If you have your own boat get after it because it is a fun lake to fish. I wish the boat house workers were half as good as the general store or restaurant maybe then we could have received some good help and possibly a refund (I won't even get into that bs).

Yelp
If you like overwhelming odors of Lysol, Pine Sol or Mr. Clean, you will love the East Lake cabins. Did they forget to rinse? Despite having opened all windows when we arrived and having at least a third of a day of airing out, our first night's sleep was weak. Since we needed to continue breathing during the night, it was mandatory to keep one window open which meant a heater had to be on and that meant the Mr. Clean odor got hot . I did not feel very good in the AM. We were thinking of packing it up before the next night's sleep and grabbing a campsite or motel down on the highway. But by the end of day two, after airing all day, it smelled more like a typical rented room in which heavily odorous cleaning supplies were used, and in which you wish had more windows, than the all encompassing odorific cabin we endured our fist day. (They did have plenty of windows at the cabin.). By that time the strong smell was a little more isolated in the kitchen and bath. I tried rinsing many surfaces and would have probably had to do both floors too, but just needed to enjoy myself so stopped rinsing. Despite the odors, Not sure that the place was really clean since although the kitchen seemed to be so (sparkling countertop and stove), the rug and the wooden plank walls with spaces in between (deliberate spaces from this type of older paneling) and a few surfaces like lower log of bed headboard where a pillow or my hair wood likely come in contact and the board behind the hooks in bath where clothes could certainly pick up dust and shower perimeter edge where you want to place your shower items were dusty. But I dusted them. But for the most part the place was clean. Oh, the front door screen had clearly been wired together over and over throughout time and had smudges that made it look dirty on the front. But, it was fully functional at keeping out pests. Purists might be bothered by the 1x2.5 foot whole in our bath floor...patched of course. Did not bother us. I almost forgot one really bizarre thing: their sheets are 100 percent polyester. Maybe this saves energy, but cotton wins in comfort every time. I do appreciate that they had chosen GOTS certified wash cloths. Let's quickly talk poison: a sign over the sink indicates that Dcon is under the sink. Well where under the sink?!? And how much of the under sink area should we avoid? Makes you wonder where else it might be. Talked to owner about this, and felt best simply avoiding that area. There is also a sign that read something like, "dishes have been washed but may be sanitized if you request." Does this mean that rodents may have run over them (what are we supposed to think with Dcon under sink?) so they need sanitizing, or is it because you are relying on the dishwashing skills of the previous tenant who may not have washed them to your liking. Nice of them to offer sanitizing. If they've got rodent problems, maybe just say so up front and that they are trying to get rid of them, and skip the final pour of the cleaning product. Was there anything good? Yes. Lake is cool, obsidian flow and craters were fun to run around on, other interesting geology, there were plenty of insects that perhaps would enhance a fishing person's experience (we heard the fish were succumbing) and that were pretty interesting. Zero mosquitoes! A couple good hikes. Staff were hospitable and friendly. Plenty of good stuff but need to up their accommodations game.

Yelp
Me and my son went here today and it was awesome! we were hoping to get a cabin, but no surprise, it was all booked. We stumbled on here by accident, because we were looking for the falls. We stopped at the BLUE DUCK GRILL (http://eastlakeresort.com/amenities/) where we had lunch and it was delicious. I never had fries that tasted so good! We sat outside on the patio where the weather was nice and cool & great scenery to look at while eating.. And best of all, my dog Paco could join me. He sat under the table while we ate. Def recommend! I'm adding photos to this review as well.

Yelp
We camped here, at the grounds directly across from the fishing lake. My Oregonian herd was mostly unimpressed with the campgrounds for some reason, but I didnt have much to compare it to, being a city girl and all, so hey, I had fun and like it just fine :) The fishing was a serious hoot. We went out for a few hours and I caught 12 fishes. It was my first time fishing!! My best catch was an 18 inch German Brown Trout, the others were comprised of rainbow trout and other fishes I didnt know how to identify. The lake is clean and the views of all the surrounding trees is just divine. I recommend this for a first time fisher or for locals that feel like gettin an easy tug on their fishin line :-)

Yelp
My family really enjoyed the lake. We visited for my daughter's birthday and had a truly awesome day. Rent a boat and explore the lake. You won't be disappointed. This place is well off the beaten path but it's truly a hidden gem. The guys in the restaurant/marina made sure we had an awesome time. I hope to spend more than a few hours there on my next visit.

Yelp
Dog friendly, NOT! We've gone here for years and this year was by far the most disappointing. The owner hit my dog with the exit door and when my dog yelped he just kept walking. When I said something to him he told me I wasn't a responsible dog owner for having him by the door. He was angry and almost frightening and definitely arrogant. Although they have dog bones at the checkout they are definitely not dog friendly. We will not be returning.

Yelp
We stayed here in our truck camper during our 3k mile, 5 state road trip with our kids. It was okay and probably a "one and done" trip for us. Lake seemed peaceful, restaurant had good food and it was nice to be in the trees. Unfortunately the flies ruined a majority of it for us. It was like you couldn't get away from them. They would fly right into your face while you were walking and were bad enough in our RV area that we really didn't enjoy sitting outside. I don't know if it was just because of the time of year (for the extreme amount of flies and gnats) or what but I noticed that a lot of other people in the RV area were just staying in their RV's and not actually enjoying the outdoors and sitting around in their camp site. And when I did see them outside I could hear comments about the flies and would see them swatting as well. It was all day so it wasn't like we could get away from it. We are use to nature and bugs but this was the worst we have dealt with and it made it hard to enjoy the stay at all. Also, if you are going for the first time...they don't have maps in the office of the campground so you just have to wander around and figure it out on your own. The one map I did find online, the RV sites looked much closer to the water than they actually were (they are actually on the other side of the street from the main portion the campground). Restaurant wait staff was very friendly.

Yelp
Thank you East Lake Resort for the amazing authentic experience! I have to say Rye the waitress was amazing! She really went up and beyond to help guide me to the best dish! She really is amazing! When you talk to Bruce and Rob, you instantly feel like family! East Lake Resort thank you for being authentic!

Yelp
This place is a gem. The tiny little restaurant has the best food I've had in the state of OR. The grounds are quaint but beautiful and serene, and the staff are warm and wonderfully polite. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I really like this place. The resort, the facilities, the cabins, the restaurant, the rv glamping, all of it. The people are what made it the best. The staff is friendly and acommadating. They go above and beyond to make it a pleasant place. I am limited in what I can do, mainly because of breathing issues, it is 6500' above sea level. I was having trouble getting unhooked and doing minor adjustments to the RV. The most wonderful person I have ever met showed up and asked if he could help. Dale is the camp host. He keeps the park open from Memorial Day till Oct 1st. He really is a great guy. We talked some, shared our past a little(lots). From his morals and his stories I believe he is truly a special person. There was no bragging in anything he said. He just did all the things I have trouble doing, hooking up, unhooking, patching awnings with tape and dumping tanks. I usually stay at state campgrounds, I can't imagine asking a camp host to help with anything like that. I want him to be recognized for the beautiful person he is. He was a school custodian for years. He said he preferred high school where he could interact with kids at an important point in their life. I thought how lucky those kids were, that got the benefit of his wisdom at that point. I will be back next season for a longer stay than this time. Even if my kids don't come with me. I sure hope Dale is still there.

Yelp
We stayed at the rv camp. ..the hosts were great! Showers and bathrooms were clean and big. 5 min shower is $1.25 so bring quarters, the water is nice and hot. There is also a laundry room. The rv park is very pretty and quiet. Well taken care of. Bbq grills came in handy. The lodge on East Lake is small but very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and make you feel like you're old friends. The grounds are pretty: flowers, grass and benches. We rented a pontoon boat for fishing. The boat was a little worn but we had everything we needed including a fish finder which made fishing more exciting! we had a great time. The staff is very accomidating! There are many things to keep you busy there. The prices were very fair. La Pine isn't too far if you are forced to go to town. There was no cell service which was actually nice! We were planning our next trip to East Lake on the drive home!

Yelp
We stayed at the resort campground across the road from the resort check-in for one night. This is a sweet little spot with clear sky. Because the elevation is so high, it got really cold at night. Gave 5 stars because the restrooms there were clean. We also rented a boat for fishing for 4 hours-- got only nibbles. I listed the price as moderate because it's not the cheapest campground. They had sewage services, but we didn't need to use them. I would recommend a reservation if you come here-- if you showed up after 8 PM, it would probably be very difficult to track down the person/people to get you into a spot. All the workers at the main buildings and the camp hosts were very pleasant and cheerful when they talked to us.

Yelp
Signed up for a guided fishing trip with Mike; it was a beautiful day, and Mike was amazing. Great guide; knew the history of the area, where to fish and for what. We caught one of everything there is in the lake to catch! Great rainbow and brown trout. Mike was a great guide; great conversationalist, boat was clean, great equipment, and the facility at East Lake is clean and the people are friendly. Overall a great experience and I would definitely go back! Thanks Mike. Mary and Coco

Yelp
My family has been visiting East Lake for 30 Years! There is no place better in central Oregon to visit for relaxation and excellent fishing. We have tent camped at both campgrounds and we have stayed at almost every cabin the resort has to offer. They are all wonderful! The resort is clean, comfortable, and friendly. The owners and staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is so perfect you won't want to go back to the real world. The resort offers great boat and recreational rentals as well as a little store with some essentials. The restaurant and coffee shop are great as well! I can't say enough about this place because it is very close to my heart. It's a yearly vacation for us and we can't wait till July!

Brooke O.

Yelp
This is a wonderful, remote campground in a forest across a two-lane road from East Lake, in a volcanic caldera. It is pristine, as good as it gets if you want the comfort of an RV and don't want to backpack in. Great little cafe and cabins are right on the lake, it has that rustic feel of a real mountain fishing lodge. You can rent boats and fish, or just sit and enjoy the view. No wi-fi is the only reason I didn't give it five stars, but actually I enjoyed being disconnected for a couple days. Longer than that would have been a problem. We will definitely go back! Nicest campground hosts too.

Dave M.

Yelp
Best food in central Oregon at great prices with a beautiful setting. The lake is clear and cool with plenty of boats to rent for fishing. The hosts were very accommodating.

Terri G.

Yelp
Just returned from four days at East Lake and had a wonderful experience. We stayed in a camping "room" -- microwave, toaster, coffee pot and refrigerator -- no stove. With just a little planning this was easy and more thanadequate. The cabins are rustic and old but immaculate and well cared for. Staff was helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The restaurant was not open yet, but last year the food was excellent. The lake is beautiful and the scenery can't be beat. To make it even better, fishing was good so it was a delightful vacation. Planning to return next year for sure!
