Yelp
I stopped in at East Side because it's close to my place, and I've been thinking about getting some text on my wrist for several years. Well, one day was as good as another, and I figured, hey, this place gets good Yelp reviews, so why not?
I knew what I wanted, vaguely, and it's lucky that I also know how to use Photoshop, or I'd have ended up with something truly awful. I was told that the girls who worked the front desk would help me choose a font and a layout. Unfortunately, they didn't know how to arrange text (basic kerning/tracking/justification, people, seriously, this is going to be on me FOREVER) and were generally aloof. Ladies, just because you have a thousand tattoos and are like, so over it, doesn't mean I don't care about the few I have looking great.
The tattoo artist was fine, and the tat looks great, healed quick. But I'll be damned if I go back there to pay $100 to do most of the work myself. I know I'm not the coolest kid on the block, and my tattoo certainly isn't anything close to badass, but I love it and care about it, and it would have been nice if somebody could have put their potato chips down for five seconds, looked me in the eye, and said "Yeah, let's figure out how to do this right."
If you're looking for caring, motivated, involved staff who want to help you with their expertise, don't go to East Side.
