Extremely beautiful during summers!

Google
This is a beautiful part and beachside walk. The perfect way to end the day and burn some energy after dinner.

Google
This place is so beautiful. There are a lot of benches and also children playground and tennis courts. It's located in nicer part of Portland. Sitting on the grass and looking at the sea with friends, family or even alone would be relaxing. This place is clean, scenic and lively. I would come back here again.

Christi Hille

Google
A great spot to walk around while enjoying views from the bay, and it’s very dog friendly which is a big bonus. There are often times food trucks parked, with a good selection of cuisines. There’s basketball courts and a playground for kids, truly something for everyone.

Joshua Rosen

Google
Very pleasant little beach. It's right off of the walking trail. They have kayaks to rent

Douglas Gordon

Google
Great place, always draws a big crowd. Even today when the wind was biting cold. One can just imagine the history that has played at this location over the decades past. A fort, a lighthouse, several islands, an old bean factory all visible. Not mention the awe of the ocean. I’m going to keep this review going with repeat visits in the future.

Sharon Comstock

Google
Glorious place to just sit, rest, relax, read, walk, picnic, kayak, or get something from a food truck. Loved this part of Portland.

Aanal Bhatt

Google
Scenic low key local spot for a walk or just to hang out. Has a lunch food truck scene

Yelp
Take a leisurely drive along the Eastern Promenade or walk or bike along the paved paths to take in the beauty of the area and stunning Casco Bay. Bring your binoculars or use the viewer to get closer views of the Spring Point Ledge Light and the Bug Light as well as Fort Gorges and Fort Sumner. There is also a recovered cannon from the USS Maine and a USS Portland memorial detailing all the battles this nightly vessel fought in. Amazing. Park and walk in any direction for stunning panoramic views. There are additional walking trails to take and so much peace and beauty to drink in. A must see.

Yelp
Probably one of the best views of the water while we were in Portland. It's really a great place to walk around or bike and hang around. It's really a great place for everyone. It's pretty cool because the train runs through here, you can actually stand on the sand, and sometimes there's even food trucks! Definitely one of my stops when I come back to Portland.

Paul H.

Yelp
Though it was 40 degrees, the sun made my walk enjoyable. The trail is paved and goes along the water. Wasn't crowded at all, but then again it's not summertime.

Yelp
The Eastern Promenade (aka Eastern Prom, The Prom) is a great place to go at any time of year, and for a couple reasons. 1) You have an incredibly peaceful view of the ocean, and it's unobstructed by high-rise buildings, which is rare. 2) There is something to do in all 4 seasons, whether it's sledding in the Winter, sunbathing in the Summer, or enjoying any of the local food trucks that pop up on a daily basis year-round. 3) It's beautiful! And there is tons of space to spread out and do your thing!

Yelp
A beautiful spot to visit right in Portland! The Easter Promenade has so much to offer-- walking trails, children's playground, memorial park, and of course amazing ocean views. This is a fantastic spot to bring kids, meet up with friends, or take family members who are visiting from out of town. There is parking so you don't have to fuss with paying meters although the parking can fill up, i have personally never struggled too hard to find a spot. Local food trucks love to park here and serve up delicious grub and if you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a kayak or paddle board at the shop on the water and go out on the ocean. One of the many trails connects over to Baxter Boulevard as well so you can get a fantastic walk in. The east end beach is also a great little place and dog friendly-- a win-win!

Yelp
Of the years I have lived near Portland , I have never taken the time to go and see nature. This is undoubtedly the best to just walk and breathe in the fresh air. Not only that but you learn snout history . What can be better. Nothing. I have to learn to stop and smell the roses as they say. Due to a hectic professional life, I get into that rat race and just have to get off it once in a while. A lesson learned today. You should do that too if your life gets too hectic. Just. Breathe. Beautiful area to walk to ponder where your life has been and where it is going.

Yelp
Imagine being able to leave your house wearing comfortable clothing with kids and dogs in tow and hungry. Then, imagine going somewhere that you can find food, a park, a walking path, a view of the ocean, and other activities. Well, you e just found yourself at the Eastern Promenade in Portland. We like to drive there randomly for the food trucks on Sunday mornings. It's a great place to just chill out, enjoy the morning air and be around other people. After eating, it's great to be able to take a Sunday stroll on the available walking paths and say hello to the many dogs that are out for their Sunday strolls too. It's kind of a gem that I'd want to know about if I was from away. It's only a mile walk from the Old Port and would make a great hideaway stop for those stopping in port on a cruise.

Yelp
Gorgeous views of the water, plenty of space to picnic and play. Peace and tranquility are located just a short distance from the downtown Portland scene. Love all the trees and the grass that frame your picture perfect Casco Bay vista. Sitting up on a ridge and accessible by road or by trails, this is a must-see in Portland. If you need a perfect place to ponder life's mysteries, I would recommend the Eastern Promenade.

Yelp
I absolutely love the Eastern Promenade. When I moved to Portland I was drawn to the area, specifically to be closer to the water. After moving into the neighborhood, I'm drawn to explore every street. A great mix of people in this little community. I hear there's a two year wait to get a spot in to the community gardens.

Yelp
This is what Portland, Maine dreams are made of. When you picture it, think blades of perfect green grass that blow gracefully in the wind, the sound of ocean waves hitting the shore, & the breeze of the wind on your face and the sunshine warming it. Eastern Promenade is a dream! Along it, you can find a children's playground, a tennis/basketball court, a monument, boats, a beach for pups, and a train along the tracks (or maybe I went too far...). If you're looking to impress out-of-towners, I highly recommend the Eastern Prom!

Yelp
The downward sloping, grassy historical Eastern Prom is made up of 68-acre and overlooks the Casco Bay filled with ferries, lobster boats, and islands) and was put on the National Register of Historic Landscapes in 1989. It also features Fort Allen Park (where you'll find an actual battleship cannon) and an amazing trail system overlooking the harbor, too, for walkers/runners/stroller pushers/bikers. To me, the Eastern Prom is the cool, tendy little sister (who's probably got tattoos, piercings, and does art) to the Western Prom. She's ALWAYS got something going on! I'd like to think I've got a little East End in me, and it's a lovely way to pass the time to picnicking, reading, or just lounging on the rolling green hills overlooking the ocean. I've seen an entire dog training seminar take place, lobster boats decorated with Christmas lights out for a night stroll in the waters, been to the Gentleman of the Road series years back, watched fireworks explode literally above my head (so close I felt I could touch them), ran 5K's, watched Jaws (freaky experience with the ocean all deceitfully peaceful looking as a backdrop) on a big outdoor screen, chased down the food trucks that line-up on the street, enjoyed Yoga Fest in this area, and blissfully burned on the nearby beach while playing hooky from work. Oh, and wanna talk about "wow factor": to seriously impress your outta-statah's, bring them up Congress Street. The view when you crest Munjoy Hill will leave them absolutely speechless! I live here and it still does.

Yelp
Absolutely breathtaking. Such a nice destination for a family outing, picnic date or beach day. We really enjoyed our time here. Parking was easy for us, we found a spot immediately. It was 1hr parking only. For us, that was fine because we didn't plan on staying that long, but we can see how that may be a problem for another family who plans on staying all day. I'm almost sure there's other lots to park it but it may be paid parking. The beach was clean, and the sight was amazing on its own. There were some food trucks and venders by the park so food is welcomed, dogs are clearly welcomed even though the signs say no dogs allowed, people had plenty of dogs on the beach regardless -- that could be a good or bad thing, didn't bother us one bit. We definitely will be going again, especially with the kiddos.

Yelp
There honestly isn't anything better than a beautiful sunny day and walking to the Eastern Prom to have a picnic, read a book, or just to take in the amazing scenery. During the summer months, I find myself consistently at the Eastern Prom, as there are expansive grass areas to sit or lay on, and it sits on a hill so that you can take in the harbor and boats on the water. Looking to play tennis or basketball? There are courts at the Eastern Prom for people to utilize. Have kids? There is also a playground for kids to enjoy! There are always food trucks circulating or planting themselves at the Eastern Prom for people to enjoy as well. They range from Tandem coffee trucks, to Tacos Del Seoul, to many others depending on the day. Overall. the Eastern Prom is a great place to go to just relax, or for a fun family day. Definitely some place to check out when you are in the area.

Yelp
Walked the Eastern Promenade on Sunday afternoon. A short and quiet walk along the harbor, but something that can easily be skipped during a visit to Portland. Quality: Perfectly fine area for biking and running, but a definite skip if just visiting Portland. Not knowing better we started the trail at the north end, so had the pleasure of the sewage plant for the first quarter of the trek. It was not horrible, but also not appealing. Once past that, you get some decent harbor views. Short trails with a little elevation can be hiked, but it doesn't add much more walking to the overall trail. Along the way they have a kayak rental place and a small beach area. The small train runs by every so often. It was just underwhelming. I think better views can be found on the southern end of Portland and it is a nicer walk going through the city streets. Quantity: A two-mile trail along the harbor. Value: We were able to find free parking and there is no fee to visit the area. Ambiance: The Eastern Promenade is located along the harbor on the eastern end of Portland. It is a two-mile stretch that provides clear views of the water, boats, and nearby islands. It appears to be a late addition to the area, as the sewage treatment plant on one end is not a pleasant way to start or end a walk. The plant also leaves an impression as you see folks kayaking or dogs wading in the water at the small beach. Crowd: Even on a dreary day there were a fair number of people running, biking, and walking dogs. The steeper hiking trail seemed empty, but the mini train was full when it passed by. Service: Aside from a dumpster parked in the middle of the trail, it seemed to be a well maintained and looked after area. Parking: We parked at the far end of the trail, but there appeared to be a parking lot specific to promenade visitors.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Portland. The food trucks on Saturdays (possibly other days?) lines the street, and there is plenty of space to grab a bench or spot on the grass and take in the views of the water. The few times I've been, there have been a good number of people around, but not overwhelming. The space itself stretches for a good bit (among a baseball field, tennis courts, etc.) so there is a lot of space. Perhaps my favorite thing to do at the moment is to walk from the Promenade to Old Port and back, which makes for a great afternoon wandering around the city and wonderful walk.

Yelp
One word: awesome! This walkway path along the water is dog playground! Reminded me of Charleston's bayside walk but friendlier, much friendlier to pups! Even though it was about 35 degrees, err, with wind factor more like 26 degree outside but seeing chiseled bodies both men and women out running, I ain't complaining. Today, there were lots of sports 2 man sails practicing I guess ideal for training with the strong winds almost intolerable if you're out in the elements, prepared or not. It was fun to watch as the lead guy in a tow boat barked each commands to the sailors using a blow horn. We had our pup Tucker with us so he had so much fun meeting other pups playing along the shorelines with their parents in watchful eyes, some throwing sticks as the pup ran for them! Beautiful americana, simply the best!!
google avatar

Jackie O.

Yelp
Plenty of parking, lots of space to run, walk, bike, and even dip your toes. Great place if you have pup. Tons of dogs running in and out of the water. Highly entertaining for sure! Would be a lovely spot for a picnic or for reading a book. Bonus: portable toilets. Yes, they're disgusting but if ya gotta go ya gotta go. And it's a better alternative than the bushes.

Yelp
This park really shines in the summer time. The grass is luscious and the trees are aplenty. It's great to see people out and about here on a weekend during the day, but its also really gorgeous in the evenings as well. The playground is fun when there are no kids around and having the beautiful view of the ocean is a major plus. The tiny boat dock makes boating easy and they do rent out boats and kayaks if you want to go to Fort Gorges too. Parking is plentiful being near a neighborhood and there are food trucks that come by every so often. There's just a lot to see here and the size of the park is just right that you can still find private enclaves if your heart so desires.

Yelp
As a native Portlander (is that a word?) I'm embarrassed to have never explored the Eastern Prom until just a few years ago. Brief history...the roaring hot real estate on Munjoy Hill used to be like District 12 in the Hunger Games. Not exactly a place you went to visit, unless you had an urge to donate your wallet and wrist watch to the poor. Nowadays, I'd argue the Eastern Prom is the most beautiful place in all of Portland. An expansive hill overlooking the ocean could be stolen from a postcard. On any given day people flock here to walk their dog, jog, fly a kite, read a book, and sip wine (not legally, but no one cares). There are tennis and basketball courts with the Atlantic as your backdrop, and a playground for the kids. There's even a mini beach. Food trucks occasionally pop up and you can rent kayaks and paddle boards for organized tours, or just to explore. Best of all, the parking is essentially unlimited, and always free. The Old Port gets most of the hype when discussing Portland, but there are shockingly few restaurants/bars on the actual ocean. For a fraction of the price, grab a six pack and takeout and sit on the hill. Watch the sailboats rock against the waves. As sunlight fades and the sky explodes in oranges and blues, you'll remember why we deal with the brutal winters, and realize that it's all worth it.

Yelp
was in town looking for a local hike. so unfortunately didn't read too many reviews prior to heading off on the trail and ended up on the dreaded waste water treatment facility trail. by the grace of god the aroma somehow was contained (does not appear so for previous yelpers) albeit 96 degrees. we kept walking until the trail ended and were utterly confused. decided to go back the way we came and realized the trail was in fact mostly to the right of where we parked (above the kayak area) THEN this turned into a really nice sight seeing experience. great views of the bay and loved the old train tracks. I still think maybe there was a large portion of this trail I somehow missed... since others mention a dog park and food trucks? but glad to have found it!

Yelp
This place is so cute and relaxing. I love walking along the water, it's so peaceful. Very worth checking out.

Yelp
As the name implies, it is the promenade on the eastern end of the Portland peninsula. There are three paths to walk in the park. The first is the sidewalk that runs parallel to the Eastern Promenade road at the top of the hill. The second is the Eastern Promenade Midslope Trail that runs through the middle of the hill. The final one is the Eastern Promenade Trail that is at sea level and 2.1 miles long. The trails are a great spot to walk, run, or bike. They also provide great views of the Casco Bay. If you are at the south section of the park, you need to walk on the bottom path or the trees will block your views. The north end of the promenade houses a sewage treatment plant and it suddenly smells terrible without any warning. If you keep on going north, you can connect to the Back Cove Trail for a much longer walk, run, or bike. Since the Promenade has views of the bay and the sun rises in the east, it is in optimal position for sunrise. Even if it is partly cloudy, you will see a pretty sunrise as long as there are pockets in the clouds. I had to wait an hour but the sun eventually creaked through the open patches of cloud and above Peaks Island. If you are visiting and planning a trip to Portland and looking for recommendations, feel free to message me for my itinerary. You can also find the electronic copy through the link my profile.

Yelp
Sit, eat, bring a bottle of wine, watch the boats. Wish we had a chance to bike the promenade when we were visiting. What a cool area to hangout in Portland, ME! Also that falafel food truck is absolutely fire!
google avatar

Cindy G.

Yelp
Beautiful paved path along the water and docked boats. You can walk about a mile to Old Port and still stay on the path to see the water. Bathrooms are available. Great place for pets and family. Mostly flat trail and benches.

Yelp
What a gorgeous slice of coastal Maine. Fell in love with this park right away with its sloped hills and amazing views. We caught the perfect day, sunny and not too hot. The USS Portland monument was super cool especially after I figured out that the look out platform was part of the ship with the ship's mast behind me...d'oh! Beautiful trees, lots of shade, breathtaking views. A must see on a trip to Portland!
google avatar

Samantha L.

Yelp
As a almost all my life Mainer, this was my first visit to the Eastern Prom. I came on a gorgeous winter day to soak in the Maine coast, and got to see something so quintessentially Maine- a boat with a bus, oil tank and a moving truck coming from one of the islands to the mainland. It's those little things that I love about Maine.

Yelp
@@ road trip post @@ Notes: * Dog friendly! Made me wish we hadn't left our puppy behind. She would've loved walking around the promenade and running around the beach. Dogs are allowed off leash, but leashed on the beach from memorial to labor day (summer). * Beautiful path along the coast. Looked like a great place for a run or a walk, and would have probably taken my morning run here instead of around the old Port if I had known this was around. * Sweet choo choo train rides by every once in a while that made the kids in us smile. Unfortunately no idea where you can hop on/off. * Nice little beach. Rocky. We stood around just enjoying the view. * Actually pretty clean bathroom. The water is yellow from minerals, not pee :O * Lots of parking. One parking lot a little further up the access drive, and another right down by the promenade/beach.

Laura M.

Yelp
Such a lovely running/walking trail along the water- beautiful views, a stop at East End beach, some food options at the start of the trail (Bard coffee too) definitely a great way to spend time getting fresh air and exercising while still in the city
google avatar

Yelp
What more could you want from a park? Ocean view, check. Dog park with walking trails, check. Plenty of parking and quick drive to home & town, check and check. I love the Eastern Prom and if I wasn't so busy, I'd swing by daily. I love that dogs are allowed off leash (limited hours in summer, all day during other seasons). The view never gets old, and I always feel refreshed after a few minutes there. The park is clean and well-maintained. The grass is perfect for a picnic, or laying with your pup. The park is a great place for photos, engagement, birth announcements, etc. While there are always people there, it never feels crowded or full of people. At 5pm in the summer, when dogs are allowed off leash, there is definitely a swarm of dogs - but I'm a dog person and don't mind that at all! If you're not a dog person, stay on the upper section or near the playground/ball field, no dogs should bother you there! As a tourist or a local, the Eastern Prom is a must-see place!

Yelp
As a New Yorker with the privilege of having Macy's fireworks in my backyard every July, I may get snobby when it comes to watching fireworks anywhere else in the country. But the Eastern Promenade shut me up if only for the weekend. Date and I were debating watching fireworks from a rooftop of a building or a bar, but I'm glad we didn't, because the experience of walking to the Eastern Promenade and sitting on the grass by the water among 50,000 other people was beautiful. There were tons of carts and stands selling various foods and desserts, and watching the other islands' mini-fireworks was cool. The view of the boats on the water is to die for, especially after sunset. The fireworks could have been timed better, but were mesmerizing nonetheless.

Yelp
Beautiful sight! Serene and relaxing view. The foliage is just turning to fall colors. Nice time to visit in October!

Yelp
Ahh, a nature gem of Portland! This was located on the Eastern side of town. For those like myself who came to Portland by a cruise ship, they could simply enter the general area by walking a long the path that started right by the area where the cruise ships docked. Other people could enter the area from the various streets in the town that led right to this general area. At least you don't have to pay any fee to enter. :P We started walking from the cruise ship area eastbound toward the grassy areas. As we walked in the promenade, we ended up walking along side a railroad track that was utilized for tourist and historical reasons. We even saw some old railroad cars on a track, which looked cool. But that wasn't the main part of the Promenade that grabbed my attention. What really grabbed my attention were the views of the water. Come on, who doesn't like looking at the water on a nice, sunny day? The water looked good, and it was nice to see the little wavelets hit the rocks right by the shore. We also saw some land in the distance and sailboats close-by. I saw some benches and picnic tables placed in a position where visitors could simply rest while looking out at the water. Pretty cool, huh? We didn't look closely at the beach. I guess since it wasn't Summer anymore, we didn't feel like hanging around there. But if it was, it would have been a whole different story. But the grass and bushes around us in the promenade were okay to look at. We followed the shoreline back to the cruise ship area. Alternatively, you could also follow the railroad tracks too since they would both bring you back to the same, general area. Overall, this was an excellent visit. If you're coming in from a cruise ship, then this is the one area that you do NOT want to miss.

Yelp
Best example of a public open space in New England. Wide views, great areas to relax and picnic, benches for sitting, walking paths, and gorgeous green grass. Often have snack or drink trucks parked nearby for quenching thirst or hunger. Check it out if you're in Portland!
google avatar

shannon m.

Yelp
Plenty of parking and great views of the water. The park is very dog and family friendly. We stopped by around sunset and found parking right away. The grassy area was full (but not crowded) of families and dogs. It looks like a great spot to pack a picnic dinner and watch the sunset.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
I stayed at the Marriott Residence right down the street from the Eastern Promenade and really enjoyed walking down here for the fireworks. I realize it's a bit different here for the 4th of July weekend, but it was truly a spectacular site with all the boats and their lights on the water and the walk across seemed magical. Stunning views; if you're coming to Portland and are nearby -- pay the Eastern Promenade a visit and take a hike around!
google avatar

Noor B.

Yelp
So beautiful! I have wanted to visit Maine for a very, very long time and I finally got a chance. After spending the day driving up, we decided to walk around the Eastern Promenade. If you want to bring your boat or other water equipment, there's a nice area for loading and unloading. If you want to park and visit, there's lots of spots (make sure you can parallel park). There's a sandy area for a beach feel, and lots of wonderful green grass and picnic tables to sit, relax, eat, read, or do whatever. This was such a wonderful way to get a feel for Portland, the state of Maine, and the Atlantic Ocean. This is definitely worth a visit.
google avatar

Paul H.

Yelp
It's wonderful. I use the path as my highway downtown everyday. I never get sick of enjoying the ride. The eastern prom is the most beautiful spot in Portland, ME.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
I live on the eastern prom and I love it. The trails that wrap around the ocean are absolutely beautiful. It is a perfect place to take the dogs and clean up after them! People are good about that here! There is a lot to do here & they have a fantastic playground. it is not very loud or obnoxious. There are baseball games and stuff during the summers! I would highly recommend checking it out. It's a beautiful place for photography lovers as well.
google avatar

Ashley T.

Yelp
I love the eastern prom. I am so blessed to live right across the street and I go there every morning for my walk with my dog. The people are nice and there are tons of actives to do. You could tan, swim, play tennis, play basketball, play baseball, play Frisbee, you could fish, and hike. The possibilities are endless. The only time I would avoid the prom is the forth of July!!!! HOLY MOLY there are thousands flocking to the hill and it's the weirdest sight ever. I really wish people would stop littering in the woods. It's not terrible it's just upsetting to see. Best place to spend a sunny day in portland , maine.

Emily S.

Yelp
Eastern prom is ideal for a day out in the town with a playground, multiple tennis courts and basketball courts, and miles of biking/walking paths. After Labor Day, dogs are welcome off leash at the beach and it can be quite the amazing puppy party. Definitely recommended for the apartment-dwelling dog owner, and even just as a fun adventure as spectators.

Maria L.

Yelp
Nice and relaxing walk. There's lots to do here including kayaking, basketball, tennis, or a simple picnic with a great view of the water. If you want to take the scenic route, walk the trail closest to the kayak station! Also plenty of parking (free) and multiple food truck located towards the entrance.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Pretty view. You can stay up top on a bench or walk down toward the promenade and beach and water level. Very quiet on a Friday afternoon. No food trucks, dogs, or attractions. Peaceful walk. Many young people smoking and hanging in the parking lot.

Yelp
In a final attempt to escape yesterday's heat (my AC unit just wasn't cutting it), I decided to explore East End Beach. What a relief! I was happily surprised to find that it wasn't too crowded. Among families, dogs, cozy couples, and joggers, I still had plenty of space to roam and dip in the ocean. Found a nice spot of shade where I could spread out, read, and totally relax. I'm a bit of a collector so I was happy to wander at the edge of the water and search for tiny treasures. Soon enough, one woman noticed shells and beach glass spilling out of my hands and immediately insisted I take one of her electric mesh bags to stash my goodies. I was beyond grateful. I've been on the Eastern Prom for walks and picnics and lawn games in the past. It's always lovely. And now I know that even on the most sweltering days I can fly right over to the East End and find a perfect bit of shade beside the ocean.

Yelp
My husband and I were vacationing in Portland a few weeks ago and visited here when we were in need of a break from downtown. Even though we both have stamina and frequently take long walks, we discovered that walking from downtown to the Eastern Promenade is quite the hike in and of itself!! I recommend anyone else wanting to visit this park from downtown take a cab if not prepared for a trek. Once we got there, we spent quite some time walking the trails and sitting on a bench watching the boats and kayakers on the bay. The view was breathtaking and overall very tranquil. If I lived locally, this would be my go-to park. Since it was considered "off season," the bathhouses were closed; the port-a-potties were in dire straights.
google avatar

Fran C.

Yelp
Really nice walking trail. After a day of eating and drinking our way through Portland, we spent the next day walking most of the trail on a quiet morning. It was a bit windy as it was spring, but it was peaceful and quiet. People were riding bikes, walking, rollerblading, and running. Lots of dogs. We loved it.
google avatar

Carolyn G.

Yelp
Even on an unusually cold April weekend we drove along the Promenade and enjoyed the lovely views. Plenty of areas to park, walk, bike or picnic. We will definitely revisit in the warmer weather! Especially to enjoy the outdoor concerts.
google avatar

Joanna F.

Yelp
Came here for sunset tonight and what a treat it was! A nice get away just minutes from the city overlooking water. Really peaceful and a romantic spot to take your special someone! Definitely coming back!!
google avatar

Kendra E.

Yelp
Eastern Promenade is beautiful. A park with a small beach and biking trail that leads to Back Cove. During the summers they host fun events and it's also a perfect spot to watch the sunrise & sunset. It's also a really good spot to release a lantern into the starry night (beware: park closes at 10pm!)

Yelp
Gorgeous. Quiet, community driven. Different hiking/biking/walking paths. Must like dogs (and don't go barefoot for related reasons. Fourth of july showcases free fireworks and is a total zoo.

Conveniently located within Portland it offers a great view with enough space for the people who go there to not be sitting next to each other. While not the best of beaches, it offers plenty of grass, views, a boat launch and baseball fields. I highly recommend visiting during sunrise, it is absolutely spectacular
