Easton Gym Co

This is a very old school gym, but in a good way. No bs, just a lot of workout machines and a lot of space and it never feels super or overly crowded when I go. The staff is very nice and helpful and this is one of the few gyms in LA that has a good sauna. I was amazed that Equinox, which is like four times the price didn’t have a sauna and that’s why I ended up choosing to gym here.

Awesome gym I found in that area, best combo of being both never too full and not overpriced and always has free parking. Has awesome roof where you can exercise in the sun, hit the punching bag, or do yoga with a class. Downstairs always has windows open all year so the entire gym is well ventilated and breezy. Equipment is older and it feels like you’re stepping into a historical gym. There are pictures of famous actors that worked out there. On another floor below there is a locker room and sauna where there is free hair gel, lotion, etc. Lastly, most of the people who go there are really fit so it’s quite motivational and gets you to work harder.

I love, love this gym. It feels cozy, never overcrowded, and has a very calm, welcoming environment. However, the only downside is the women’s sauna. It has gone a long time without really working properly — it’s often not hot, frequently not ready, and only works on rare occasions if I’m lucky. Unfortunately, I’ve heard this isn’t an issue with the men’s sauna, which makes it a bit disappointing. When you turn the clock timer it starts working but is really not that hot overall.

Writing this in the middle of a brutal migraine attack caused by this gym. Years ago they had a broken piece of gym equipment they left on the floor, and when I went to use it, an iron bar freefell onto the back of my skull. MRI revealed I had a concussion and now I suffer from regular, debilitating migraines. I kept going to this gym (they covered my MRI expense - I should have sued, hindsight is 20/20) and a few months later one of the staff decided to harass me. She said I was being too loud…for breathing loudly when squatting over 220 lbs. Meanwhile other people were slamming weights and grunting loudly with staff doing nothing. She doubled down and decided to verbally harass me until I was in tears, and kept going. Absolute nightmare of a place, so grateful I left when I did. Should have been sooner.

Easton is a gem in Los Angeles and the place where I was able to transform my fitness alongside some of the most knowledgable staff and trainers in the city. Easton's owner Toby and his passionate staff have facilitated a respectful and supportive community over a long period of time where all bodies are welcome, member input is prioritized, and most importantly, re-racking your weights and putting shit back where you found it is the norm! Working out at Easton feels like being part of a long tradition in Los Angeles. Even though the equipment isn't as new or exciting as other places and "it doesn't have air conditioning!" as everyone LOVES to say, nothing beats working out within Easton's beautiful brick walls, amongst vintage windows that catch a refreshing cross-breeze and dumbbells that look like they were carried by strong men in the 1940's. Easton rarely gets frustratingly crowded, and its members overall are simply RESPECTFUL, relaxed, authentic, and make this the type of business you can only find in Los Angeles. I love Easton gym!

Great gym, extensive equipment and chill vibe. Everyone is very friendly. Lots of flexible membership options. Love this place.

When I flew into LA on the way to Hawaii I was looking for a gym I could drop into that would have easy access to barbells and other strength & conditioning equipment. Photos of this space don’t show a lot so I figure I’ll note that they have a wide variety of machines, and a handful of barbells and associated racks. They also have a surprising amount of machines like stair masters and two free running treadmills (as well as the standard cardio machines). I did not see nor look for rowers or ski ergs, though if my training session needed them I’d focus on the CrossFit or similar facilities. For those interested, they have a handful of kettlebells with the single heaviest being an ~80. Of the various gyms close to where I was staying south of Hollywood, Easton looked to be the easiest to access, probably because it’s a standard gym rather than a more specialized fitness facility (like CrossFit, HIIT, or the variety of personal training spaces nearby). They are on the 2nd floor under the metal sign. A drop-in day pass cost $25. They currently seem to prioritize mask-wearing which is nice. Note that if you plan to change or shower or carry around more than just a small bag you’ll probably want to carry a lock too.

New member. It's $89 a month. Nice vibe and location. I didn't find the staff particularly motivated. There's a sign in the cardio room that says "no cell phones" but a girl conversed loudly on her's while walking the treadmill the entire time I was there. I try to imagine if I worked there, and I walked the cardio room for a minute to clean up or see how it's going and I noticed that all 6 tvs were on CNN. I'd probably say to myself, "people are here to try to get in shape. People are here to try to clear their head and have a better mental outlook. In what capacity do I think, as an employee, that it's an intelligent assessment and decision to leave 6 CNNs on all day broadcasting the worst of everything?" They don't really take it upon themselves to do anything. This is a conversation that on the surface seems petty, but when you dig deeper you really see how pathetic it is. Put on a nature show, put on cartoons, put on a comedy, put on ESPN, there's a million things you can do. You can turn them all OFF. Who puts all six TVs on the same channel anywhere, for anything?

I found my people! I have been looking for a gym since the Fitness Factory closed and I finally found it. The coolest of people of all ages and races and truly the opposite of anything bougie. You won't find people posting on Instagram here but you just might see a movie star and a studio head sweating next to you. This place is the definition of cool. The nicest front desk staff too who actually remember your name so shout out to them especially Leah!

Cancelled my membership and kept being charged do not trust these people . Going to take them to court. Obviously I'm not the only one as you can see at the reviews.

This gym is a small older gym with most of the equipment you need to have a decent work out. For people who casually workout this place is great for those who are more intense..not so much. It has lots of leg equipment so leg day is good. It doesn't have much updated equipment . Showers are good but on cold days it can take 4-5 mins for the hot water to kick in. The lockers are very nice as they let you put your own code in to lock it. Bathroom wise there is only one in the locker room and one in the gym iitself. I have not used the sanua. Overall it is a decent gym.

I've been a member at Easton a few times over the years. I usually go at 5am so it's much quieter and chill. Today while on a calf press machine and working 450 lbs, an older trainer without saying hello or introducing himself told me I was being too loud. I apologized and pointed out I was lifting over 400lbs, and it's bound to make some noise when I put it down. His response, "well maybe this isn't the gym for you." I've been a personal trainer for over 25 years and a top celebrity trainer in LA for the last decade. I have never been spoken to like that in any gym, and was shocked to find out the person who was so rude was the owner. I cancelled my membership immediately and back to equinox. Apparently, according to most of the staff here, the guy and his wife as total assholes and no one likes working for them. The gym itself is a staph infection waiting to happen with disgusting carpeted floors and antiquated equipment. Don't waste your time at this dirty, old and rude establishment.

An excellent gym in a prime location with a stunning city view. The atmosphere is great--welcoming and enjoyable. I also want to highlight their outstanding sauna, which is very important to me.

I almost hate posting this because I don't want this gem of a gym to become more popular. I've been coming here for almost 20 years and it's still the best. It's no frills, no bs - just weights. As far as I know, it's the oldest gym in Hollywood. It's a purist's gym; if you're bougie - go to Equinox. Nice people - - a mix of young and old straight and gay - all flavors. If you're famous, no one cares. There are no gym bunnies or Chads. Ugh - now I've screwed myself.

Best gym in L.A. hands down. You won't find anything like it in the city. Best people, architecture, location, community, open air. Fantastic. They also have a sister coffee shop under the gym.

I live a few blocks from this gym and had high hopes given the reviews. It definitely has a local, community driven feel which is nice. People knew each other's names, the staff was friendly, and it didn't feel like a standard gym chain. I signed up for a class through ClassPass, and the troubles started with the front desk not knowing how to check me in or even how I signed up for a class. Our class started late, and I wasn't given any sort of explanation or introduction to the gym, so it was a stressful and confusing process. When I finally went into the class, an employee kind of ribbed me for being late even though I showed up early and was late because of the front desk issues. She laughed it off and said she was kidding, but after having tried explaining the situation to the front desk it wasn't appreciated. I liked my instructor and the exercises, but the equipment is very old. The rowing machine and bike were pretty beat, it made me feel like I was working out in a buddy's basement which is not the vibe I want for a gym. The mirror in the studio was also broken, just seems like this gym needs some serious TLC. There were also items we needed to bring to the class, but it's not stated anywhere in the class or gym description that I could find that we were supposed to bring them, so that ended up being awkward and limited what we could do at the end. The main workout area wasn't as crowded as gym chains which was nice, but equipment looked super old there as well. I couldn't even find a water bottle station, just an old fashioned water fountain which freaks me out in COVID times. I would likely not return here.

Absolutely love this gym and everyone that works here is so incredibly sweet except for Keslie. Just plain rude and aggressive, not a good energy to be around. Ruined my workout first time I've ever gone home before even starting my work out all because of someone's attitude. Not what I want to experience in the middle of my day. I brought in my tripod to record a video for and before I could even say hello she shut down me instantly with a stone cold "No. That's not allowed. Not happening" that was crazy. Enforcing rules is a must but there is a way to do it. As a representative of this gym and the first person you speak to when you enter I would expect her to uphold a better sense of diplomacy. Extremely disappointed.

Pros: Clean and serviceable, the people working there are very nice and they have a sauna. There are many cafes around it so when you finish your workout you can grab a coffee or a smoothie. Cons: they provide old used towels so I recommend you bring your own towels.

This gym is a gem! Great vibes all around! Joe is the absolute best, always friendly and with a big smile! Toby is a super genuine Owner! He goes above and beyond to help his patrons!

Signed up for this gym last week based on yelp reviews. When I signed up I spoke to a women in front. The first question I asked was if they were to get shut down will I get a full refund and she said yes. They shut down 3 days later and only gave half my money back. They are now telling me that they keep a processing fee and initiation, and that those are non refundable. My friend who signed up a day later got a full refund so this doesn't make any sense at all. He was also somehow charged $50 more then I was, even though he signed up a day later then me? I feel like I was just scammed. Especially because they charged me more than the normal rates due to being open during this period. I will never consider going back to this gym. I was Miguided by the reviews to think the owners are friendly and professional, but clearly that is not the case. The guy who I was emailing regards to this name was Wyatt, he sent me an email reply that was sarcastic trying to make me full stupid. When it comes to the gym it self I was paying 100$ a month for a gym with less equipment and amenities then LA fitness. Also they are very small so even with only 25 people being allowed in, not much room to do anything. It has a very cool vintage old school vibe but realistically they should be charging 30-40$ a month. The prices before COVID we're $70. They have 1 person working there that cleans and sanitizes the gym too. It's like paying to stay at a hotel room that you have to clean up yourself after you pay to use.

THE PROS: -nice central location -not overly crowded THE CONS: -old equipment -not very clean -NO AC & EXTREMELY HOT when the temperature is above 70-75 outside. Even with all their windows open there is a lack of airflow- they only have about three ceiling fans in the weight room and that's it (very unhealthy and unpleasant to work out here when it's even remotely warm out, so I would try elsewhere unless they fix the issue and get more fans) I wanted to love this place but the temperature when it's warm out ruins it for me-- it's just unbearable.

I Love love love this gym. Old school machines, brick walls, cool people make it an amazing place to work out. The owner Toby who runs the place is a fantastic person

Great gym and easily our favorite spot in LA. Local feel, great staff, good equipment, and overall a gem! Worth the price, never too crowded, and people are actually there to workout. I enjoy the amenities such as towel service, lockers, and a sauna downstairs. Can't go wrong with Easton.

In my humble opinion the best Gym in LA. I live practically next door to an Equinox and opt to drive 10+ minutes just so I can work out in Easton. The brick walls, the old school vibe to the place, perfect natural lighting and quality of the local crowd make it special. The owner Toby is a kind person who cares about his community.

Super cute neighborhood gym. I like the relaxed vibe (much better than the more corporate gyms out there). Nice clean equipment, really nice staff. The open windows always allow for fresh air and a bright environment. I wish they offered more classes!

Finally rejoined yesterday after a membership freeze and was SO excited to go back! It's a really great gym that has everything I need (no frills but gets the job done!) The people tend to be lovely as well which is a huge plus - very rarely have people hogging equipment. Also has a large free parking lot. The only con is the lack of air conditioning but really only bad a few weeks out of the year. So excited to be back!

I was a member of Easton Gym for several years until recently having to change due to convenience of the location for me. Anyhow, The gym environment is very good. Beautiful old building with brick interior. Second floor with great views from the weight room and rooftop access. They offer quite a bit of machinery given its smaller size and generally the place is tidy, clean and organized. Staff is always friendly and there is a convenient Cafe downstairs which can be billed through your membership. Clientele seem serious about working out. Not a lot of gossiping and standing around. So it's a good spot if you are serious about fitness. There are classes available, but I never made use of them. My only gripe is that some of the machinery would be down for repairs for long stretches, which would be frustrating when trying to keep a consistent workout. Other than that. It's reasonably priced with a free and convenient parking lot. I'd recommend this gym.

I used to be a member at a private club that had a great workout room. When I resigned my membership, I needed a place with a similar vibe and quality equipment that I was used to. My friend referred me to Easton, so I joined right away. Easton indeed has a great vibe. It's not so crowded that you're waiting for machines, but enough people to create great energy. (Personally...I find it very uninspiring to be in a gym where you only sound you hear is the sound of your machine. The facilities are clean...in fact I appreciated that they recently invested in new carpeting even though I never saw a problem with the old carpet. You will NEVER see tape on a machine stating, "Out of Order." There is plenty of parking, and the hours are great. Oh...and staff is awesome.

Very beautiful and lovely people. Safe and comforting. I really enjoyed the environment. I definitely recommend to anyone.

It's everything you need in a gym without all the extra crap and vanity. People are here to do the work, not look like they do

Lovely and unique gym with super friendly staff and people. The building is gorgeous and really has a special feel to it. Not your typical Hollywood gym. A very independent, well maintained feel. I always loved stretching on the roof space after a workout. I recently had to cancel my membership due to financial reasons. Not only was I able to cancel a few days into the month but I was able to be reimbursed which was beyond generous on the part of Wyatt and team. Recommend Easton to anyone - hopefully I will be able to get back there soon!

Could be a good a good gym if they took a few small steps. No one here knows how to rack weights (the lip goes in, not out). People also tend to not re-rack their weights. Half the dumbbells are illegible, and need to be simply relabeled. A lot of the machines need to be serviced (some just need oiling. Some have seats that don't lock). Also, all the dumbbells should be next to eachother. For some reason they put the matching dumbbells vertically (one on top rack, one on bottom). Makes no sense, and promotes injury. All simple fixes that should have been addressed during shutdown. Go pay a visit to Bodybuilders gym in silverlake, if you need a guide.

I've been going to Easton Gym on and off for 5 years. It's the first gym In Los Angeles, besides the YMCA,that I am comfortable working out at. The owners and trainers make sure you understand how to use the equipment and you get the best workout. I love the community feel and they have a wonderful cafe downstairs. That is very convenient. It's definitely a neighborhood gym vibe and it's open air which I appreciate because I feel like I'm just not breathing in recycled air, which is an added bonus. If you're used to an equinox vibe and this isn't that type of gym. I look forward to my workouts after work!

Receptionist is rude and made me feel bad about myself. I won't be coming back to this gym.

Place is dirty. Equipment is old. There has been a fly infestation for the past couple of weeks. Why is this gym so expensive for this ?

If I could leave no stars I would! This gym is a pain in the butt. They complain about absolutely everything: You can't make any noise with the weights (it's a gym) and I've even been scolded for talking on the phone and "not putting the weights back correctly." The gym equipment is all rusted over and the space is so small. It's not worth the price. I'd advise you to go somewhere else!

Been here a few months ths at this point a few times a week and...it's overhyped. A gold vibe and crowd for the most part, people who work here seem all great, but for $90 a mo th the *only* reason I go here over equinox or one of the similarly expensive gyms closer to me is because they don't lock you in with a contract and you're able to pause membership. I work in production so that's a good perk. That said I wonder what I'm paying for. The quipment is mostly older than me, locker room is minimal/ might as well not be there, and I've yet to see a class actually happen. The schedule link never works, the classes are few and virtually never happen if you do make the time to show up, and no ac/fans are almost never on or broken/go so slow there might as well be nothing. In a gym in a climate that now gets to 90 in January...that's not safe. In terms of covid, when I joined you had to show proof of vaccination, but for people with older memberships I wonder if they had to show that....but most here don't seem to wear masks or wear them as chinstraps. The same people are the ones never wiping down their mats/equipment or using the communal yoga mats to be barefoot (people, plates grip socks and dance/gymnastics shoes exist for a reason) and not wiping down ‍ I've left more than a few times out of frustration.

Such a great gym if you: - Have limited time in the mornings/evenings & need to be in and out FAST. - Don't require frills or extras such as luxury toiletries, pool, courts. - Want a nicely priced monthly membership that includes challenging classes, knowledgable instructors, and free parking. Although (as others have stated) the gym doesn't have A/C or a pool, it has a wide array of equipment, weights, good ventilation, and a rooftop workout space. The private spin room is incredible to allow me to get zoned in on the bike while shutting out the bustle of the rest of the gym. I only wish they would update their class schedule on their website. I've talked to front desk about this as well. For example, the 8:30am Saturday boxing class kicks my butt, but nobody knows about it so sometimes it's just me and one other person in the class. Easton Gym, PLEASE update your class schedules.

I love it here. Come nearly everyday. It's a bit of an Average Joe's kind of feel, but it's a no frills, get to work and get back to life. The sauna and outdoor roof area are great pluses. Also you can cancel anytime after upfront payment which is CLUTCH especially if you bounce around LA. I did see a guy with a lower back tattoo today, but I won't hold it against Easton. (it's a joke, we have fun)

I have been going to Easton Gym for over ten years and I love it! It's historic, cozy, has all the equipment I need, great classes, and is extremely well-priced. This is a no-frills gym for people who want to get their workout in, and then get out. When so much of the city is changing, I am so glad that a gym like Easton exists. P.S. There is a full parking lot across the street, as well as street parking. Disregard the previous poster's comments about "no parking".

Easton Gym is truly a gem of a gym! This is a family-owned, old fashioned style gym with a ton of history. Maybe your Equinox-goers won't find it "fancy" enough, but the gym purist will be in love. They have every piece of equipment you need and everything is clean. The employees are really friendly and do a great job at keeping the place tidy and making you feel welcome. Although the members are mostly men (like most gyms of course), this gym is very female-friendly. All the members are polite and considerate and I have yet to have an uncomfortable experience. I love this place and would choose it over any of the boujie gyms any day!

I'm a member here and I saw that some guy left a review that said there is no parking? Lol there is an entire lot across the street just for Easton. Can't believe someone would take the time to complain about no parking without even taking two seconds to ask someone that works there about it. So ridiculous. Love this gym. Have been a member for a little over a year now. Equipment is great, classes are great. Clean, staff and other members are always respectful and nice. I do wish they were open a little later on weekends, but other than that I have absolutely no complaints.

I have been a member of a LOT of big gyms (Bally's, 24 Hour, LA Fitness) and small (TriFit in Santa Monica), and have quickly learned that I really do love a small gym. Since I moved away from the Westside and TriFit, I was steered towards Easton by a large contingent of friends who go and love it. Upsides: Even though it's a small gym, in over six months I've waited ONCE for a treadmill...and I always go at peak hours (think 8:00/9:00 AM and 6:00/7:00 PM on weekdays). The one time I waited, it was five minutes. Can't beat that. Same with the other cardio and circuit machines...the size may seem like an impediment to your workout but it's never been a problem. The staff is super super friendly, and the locker rooms are super clean AND super pretty. Downsides: Parking can be a major pain because the lots fill up quickly, so you often have to meter park (you could street park in the neighborhood but that's only during the day), and that adds an extra $1/$2 a day. Also, because it's a smaller gym, finding space to put a mat down and do your own workouts can sometimes be tricky (not that there's not enough space, I just feel like a dick doing girly planks right next to a guy bench pressing 220). All the same, Easton is awesome. After 4 gyms in as many years, I finally found a place I really love going to that actually makes me want to work out. And having McSteamy Eric Dane as a co-gym member ain't half bad.

This gym has a lot of charm, but I won't be returning because of how I was treated by an employee. I'm fleeing Equinox because they're bankrolling Trump 2020, so I decided to check out Easton based on the positive reviews here. A few days ago, I purchased a week membership and had gone twice before this morning. It's a cute, small, old gym with a lot of character. I got there this morning no one was at the desk, and I signed in with my name as I had been instructed by the front desk person when I signed up. I saw a new woman as I was walking into the locker room and smiled. 20 min into my workout she interrupts me like I couldn't find your name in the system what are you doing here? Extremely hostile off the bat, at 5-something in the morning. I explained I got a membership 2 days ago for a week. She asked if I had the receipt. I said I wasn't sure but I thought I had it in my wallet in my locker. She told me usually people take a picture of the receipt and have it on their phones. I told her I didn't do that. She asked me for my last name (identifiably Hispanic, clearly written on the sign-in sheet) twice, and I spelled it for her, hoping she would go away. I asked if I should go look for the receipt now and she paused and told me I could show her on my way out. On my way out, she was again not at the front desk. I found her nearby and showed her the receipt, which luckily I had on me. She was saying something about how I was put in incorrectly into the system and that's why she couldn't find me in the gym's records earlier. I asked if this is why she was so hostile towards me, and she straight smiles and responds like "oh, did I come off as hostile?" like I was being absurd, and I was told her yes, she approached me aggressively and I felt like I was being interrogated, and that I signed in as I was previously told to do. She didn't apologize or seem compelled to do so. She started making more excuses and saying how they're a small gym so I interrupted her and left. I wish I hadn't purchased a membership.

Walked in to join as a new member, given good reviews and close to work. As soon as I walked upstairs, I saw a member on a machine working out with owner of the gym (trainer) and the member had his mask under his nose. Looked behind him and saw two other members with masks below their noses on the treadmill. Is there something incompatible with being health conscious and knowing the respiratory tract connects the nose and mouth? Is there a gym locally that takes CoVID precautions more seriously?

I give 3 stars because the gym is located smack dab in asshole central. But alas those that run the place are super cool. But $70 a month for no parking, and virtually 0 floor space to work out upon. Maybe their trick to getting you to lose weight is to have you walks round till you find a place to workout. Also the 9 treadmills I the back - never fully Occupied. A massive waste of space. Great gym not worth the $70 a month. And this is my last month here. Once again No floor room to stretch. And NO AC! Had to remind the ultra busy front desk bro to turn the fans on. Cause you know. It's a gym ?! Don't let this places charm get to ya. 75$ a month. No ac. No pool. Rip off .

First of all I love the building, I love the sense of history there as well. It's just fun to see the old Hollywood faces on the wall that have been there. This place works for me fantastically well because it's walking distance. I love the atmosphere that is mostly no nonsense, the clientele or more established, you don't get the creepy vibe you would get in so many Hollywood gyms. Facilities are more than adequate. I have not done any of the classes however. It can get a little crowded sometimes, cause it's not a huge place. So I might adjust the times that I will go.

Live walking distance from here, six years ago tried it out once and ended up at a different gym - which recently closed. Mentioned to staff today that I am looking for a new home gym to become a member at and easton is an easy walk from my house. Went in today and asked if I could try it out for the day, was told it would be $20 because I had been there once before. Seems a little odd to me as six YEARS is quite a long stretch of time and I don't really recall much about the club and assume it has likely changed. Would also assume they would want business from locals who can walk to the gym, as well.

Love this gym but I have to take off one star because of the treadmill situation. They only have 7, maybe 8 treadmills in the back - and up to 3 of them have been out of service lately. I figured they'd fix it asap but weeks have gone by and nothing. As a runner I went to Easton multiple times with the intent to run a few miles but I ended up leaving frustrated after lifting weights for a bit and trying to fight for the next available treadmill. Bummer, as the front staff is always nice and the people there are focused on working out - which is a nice relief from LA. It's just that treadmill situation :(

If you want a great space to workout and focus on building the body you want without the distraction of "trendy" gyms, this is the place for you. The staff remembers your name and creates the feel of a family. Top management is accessible and wants to make sure your time there is stress free. Highly recommend!
