Awesome as usual. Delicious sandwiches and soups. And home made desserts my personal favorite is the banana cream pie.

Visiting town for a college fair and I found this absolute gem. I was fortunate enough to arrive on the last day of "Chili Dog Days". I was even more fortunate to arrive just before the lunch rush. This place is very popular and I understand why. The staff was excited about my order choice and everyone just had a level of hype and energy that you don't often see. Also the dessert bar is just filled with tempting options that I couldn't resist. It's a very solid Boston cream pie. It was a very quaint atmosphere and I couldn't recommend it enough. I'll absolutely be coming back when I'm back in town.

Great lunch spot for take out out or eat in if you are in downtown White Bear Lake. Good variety of soups, sandwiches, and dessert and all were delicious.

Decided to try a new place today VERY HAPPY with our decision!! Wonderful fast pleasant service very clean establishment and the FOOD WAS AWESOME. Reuben and tuna was tasteful and filling. Seriously where can you eat soup with a fork so hearty and delicious. WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK AGAIN 5⭐10 times over

Coming here is like walking in to happiness. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The food is made quickly and tastes delicious. It's a great lunch spot and I love coming here.

I have gone to this place for many years and the family is incredibly charming. They have very fresh and healthy ingredients, prompt service, and fair prices. Try the soup and croissant of the day if you can--don't forget the delicious desserts!!

Some of the BEST FOOD IN TOWN hands down! Always done in a hurry for takeout. The staff are always smiling and so kind! The desserts are fabulous! you won't be disappointed. Shaun truly knows what he is doing!

This is the best lunch spot in WBL. The family is hands down the best. The food is incredible and you cannot find genuine people or food like this anywhere else. It's a weekly Pitstop for us and I recommend everyone go.

Everything is super tasty, soups, sandwiches, salads, craft sodas. We had aRedOctober sub with just a little spicy. Sub bread is perfect. My family had a Ruben and salad. Come here every chance we get

Great vibe for a late lunch. Hubby's Cobb salad had a bit of everything in a nice (recycle) package. My French Dip was okay. Bread could have been on a crusty roll to help as sub roll got soggy. Good flavor overall. We will go back.

This is a wonderful family run business. You walk in the door place your order and they come and deliver it to you. Most of the workers are all related and are so nice and accommodating. The food is off the hook delicious! Lots of soup choices for soup and salad highly recommend the chicken and rice. I love the chicken salad Asian. Sesame dressing is my favorite. The banning roast beef sandwiches off the hook. It sounded boring, but my cousin ordered it and I went back up to the counter and ordered one. The roast beef is super tender melt in your mouth. Delicious bread melts in your mouth and a horseradish sauce on it . They've expanded and it's in beautiful white Bear Lake. I'm only visiting and I've been hitting it every day! I live in California and consider myself a bit of a foodie this place rocks the people are wonderful. The food is wonderful. The place is wonderful, just go there

This place is one of my favorite deli locations and if you've ever been here you would know why!! Ambience is cute and comfy place with a fantastic staff that'll make you laugh! Butterscotch pie French Dip with Potato Salad (which BTW some of my fav Potato Salad) Half Banning Beef with a half Cobb Salad I can honestly say I've never had a bad lunch here! Banning Beef is my go to sandwich and the first thing I tell people to try. And come on...the desserts... I've prolly had each one in the case! I'll even sneak two cookies on my drive back to work they are so yummy! Out shopping in WBL swing in here for lunch you will not be disappointed! I've gotta try the breakfast as I snuck a peek at the menu and all looks right up my alley!

Bigger inside than i expected. A wide variety of sandwiches and soups. Stopped here for a quick lunch. Ordered the BLT with chips and wanted to try their gazpacho soup. The sandwich was delicious...right amount of crunch from the bacon and bread. The soup was very flavorful and well seasoned...I should have gone with a bigger bowl! Will be back

Another one of my favorite spots. Sam, Shawn, and Max are my main peeps whenever I go in and love when I see them cause they always remember me with how little I go in there. I'm always basic and get my turkey club w/ chili. But it always hit the spot. Chili has a nice spice and the sandwiches are always refreshing and filling.

This was such a cute little place. Although I live pretty close I never eat in White Bear but for this place I would come back. They have soups, salads and sandwiches. I had the oriental salad which was very good and made correctly which is always nice when you are leaving things off, you always worry will it be right. The staff was very friendly and helpful here. I will be back and will recommend others try this place out!

I love coming to lunch here: I am greeted by the hardest working restaurant staff I have ever seen! She's the sandwich maker & order taker..always ready with a good recommendation, making each sandwich fresh. She doesn't mind the "special orders", for instance today she placed my 1000 island dressing on the side. The soups here are good as well. This place is worth a stop! The name says it all: Eat @ Banning & Fifth!

Had no idea this place existed, this seems like a great lunch spot - lunch combos - pick 2 or pick 3 sub soup salad etc. I chose the zany (good sandwich wish their would've been more than one slice of turkey on it) and the chicken wiLd rice soup - super good. The staff was super friendly informative (she told me about all of the sandwiches and described each one I was inquiring about because I was so indecisive) and fun, they all seem to have a lot of personality.

Family owned and a wonderful place to get lunch. We go here quite often, and the WHOLE STAFF are awesome! I love this place, and the staff are the best! Ohhh, and the food is GREAT TOO

Very clean and friendly. The PERFECT amount of breakfast! We had the Hashbrown Casserole and it was perfection. Crispy hashbrowns with almost a southwest flair and a fresh pineapple on the side. Much needed relaxing meal for a tough day. Employees very very friendly and personable. I hope to be back again someday. Thank you!

Our Keller Williams office orders takeout from a different local restaurant every Thursday. We ordered from here today, February 24th, and the food was excellent. Great sandwiches, soups, and subs! We will definitely be ordering from here again soon! I have never eaten inside before but it looks very clean, warm, and inviting.

Pretty excited about this find! Downtown White Bear Lake is so fun and we came here on a whim after reading some reviews. I love that this is family owned and everything made from scratch! We were greeted right away and the man who I assume is the owner was engaging and funny to talk with. The homemade baked goods looked amazing. I ordered the soup and salad combo - Cobb salad with lemon curry chicken soup. DELICIOUS. We also got a macaroon which was fabulous too. Can't wait to come back and try more!

Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich this morning. The sandwich was really good, a simple egg, cheese and sausage on a homemade biscuit - delicious and hit the spot. They have done a great job inside with separating windows and doors between the booths and the staff was all masked up! I felt very comfortable dining there, check them out if you get a chance.

Eat is one of those special places you keep going back to. The food is excellent and the staff are amazing.

Totally just happened in to this place. Relatives came to town and found it online so we headed on over. So glad we did. First off, awesome location in downtown White Bear. Very cool building and cool vibe. People here are super friendly. The food is good. I had a Reuben and a cup of chicken wild rice soup. The bread was very fresh, the kraut was tasty, and the corned beef was very good and plentiful. The soup was good while not the best I've ever had. I have a feeling this will be a place that I head back to over and over again.

I can't say that I've tried a ton from Eat yet but I hope to! (As much as I can with my diet) I've grown up in White Bear and I've seen countless businesses at this location and Eat is the one that has lasted the longest. (So they must be good!) I walked down to grab a bite between salon appointments. They have many options for food. Sandwiches, salads, deli selections, dessert! I selected a salad and was presently surprised by the size and freshness. I even got a side of bread and it was a filling and substantial lunch. They have gluten-free dessert but I feel that they run out fairly quickly. The staff was nice when I visited

Here on training and not familiar with the area at all I found this restaurant using Yelp. Walked in and found a very friendly welcoming Chef who took my order and waited on me as confused as I was. The menu was very inviting and interesting! My decision? Soup and salad combo for $8.95, black bean and lentils with capers mozzarella cucumber salad. I found it to be well-balanced incredibly tasty with a very Savory soup and in conjunction I purchased a pomegranate lightly sweetened natural soda and I had an incredible lunch. Look forward to dinner and other lunches while I'm here on training.... well done!!!!

Met up with a friend for lunch and was I pleasantly surprisedI previously thought this place was a catering business only because it was never open when I was driving by, generally after 4p‍. I tried one of their many homemade-recipe soups along with a sandwich and coffee. WOW... their food was wonderful ! I hadn't had a delicious bowl of soup this good in a very long time and my Clubhouse sandwich was too much to finish but too good to leave behind. Their soup selection was different everyday since we've been back. We were also told about their once a year soup bonanza featuring a flight of soup from their 52 different recipes. Though I missed out on it this year, it will be on my event calendar for 2024!! You place your order as you come in, move on to the cashier where you get your beverage and find a seat. A server will quickly bring your order in a to-go container with all the accoutrements necessary How slick is that especially if you're in a hurry... If you haven't tried 'EAT! at 5th and Banning', you're missing out!

This place is the absolute best! Had their medium rare beef sandwich with their awesome horseradish spread, unbelievable. I'm eating the other half right now a few days later and its even better! They are so friendly, it's nice to see a local neighborhood joint making such great quality food and having fun doing it. I'm from Chicago so we have a Lotta great restaurants but they don't have anything like this. Diners drive-ins and dives should go there but we need to keep this our little secret so they don't become too big headed:) Love you guys keep up the great work!

I decided to try Eat out this afternoon on my lunch break. A few of my co-workers are obsessed so I thought I'd give it a try! I felt extremely welcome as I walked in and was immediately greeted and offered a menu. This eatery fits in perfectly with the small town atmosphere that is exuded throughout White Bear Lake. The workers were so friendly and helpful offering suggestions about what I should order since it was my first time. There is a wide variety of salads, subs, sandwiches and soups! They also serve breakfast all day but I was in a little bit of a hurry so I didn't have the time to glance at that menu. I decided to do the "you pick two" option and got 1/2 a sandwich and a cup of soup. There were about 6 soups to choose from and maybe 20 sandwiches or subs! I was impressed by the uniqueness of the sandwiches offered; they definitely weren't basic! I decided to get the roasted red pepper soup and half of one of the turkey sandwiches that was topped with cucumber, tomato, sprouts, etc and served on a pumpernickel bread. The food was delivered to my table very quickly! I was surprised. The soup was absolutely amazing, the perfect portion and temperature. The sandwich was good but didn't blow me away nearly as much as the soup. I definitely will be coming back here to try out more of the items on the menu!

Not often you find a family ran sandwich shop that is absolutely perfect to go to. Heck, it's hard finding a local sandwich shop these days that isn't ran out of town by Jimmie Johns, Subway, Jersey Mikes, Wich Wich, Potbellies and whatever else is out there. Then, you come across this place in downtown WBL and go, what do they serve? And right on queue, it's like James Earl Jones in your ear saying "An amazing sandwich, get your ass in there boy!" In we stroll, chalk board on the right wall is the menu, you can also get a hard copy to go through, and the amazing staff will walk you right through the ordering process, where the specials are located and make everything just how you like it... trust me, the woman is as picky as it gets, and got her sandwich so customized I'm not sure if it actually resembled the menu name anymore. By now we know I have a problem - besides pancakes and froyo - and that is cinnamon rolls. Best believe I got me one of those! And best believe it was incredible! Sticky, gooey and oh so perfectly cinnamon spice and sweet. We shared a bowl of incredible chicken wild rice soup. Well, I had a spoon and bread dip before "she" conquered it and took it over. Sandwiches then arrived, I opted for the clubhouse and she got some turkey something that was devoid of most things. Great sandwiches. Just great. Breads were soft and chewy with great flavor. I loved the muenster cheese on my club instead of some normal cheese. Lighter side on the mayo was perfect to let the flavors really come through. Meats were extremely tasty. Her club sub was tasty. I got to devour half of it and I loved it. Even though it looks "bready" it's really not, at all. Very soft and is perfect. We did get a chef salad as well, I liked it. She wasn't so fond of it. So I just threw the soup at her and said I'll eat it. Can't wait to head back and try the breakfast items... that we missed being able to get by an hour!

Sean, his wife, daughter and all the staff are simply the best but food is even more outstanding. Everything is made fresh everyday and is very creative. The moment we walked in we felt welcome and very comfortable. There is an atmosphere of family and kindness you don't always find in a restaurant let alone any business. We were in town for a wedding and came back every day for something different. If you are in White Bear Lake, I highly recommend paying these wonderful people a visit. You won't be disappointed.

Great local spot - everything is made from scratch! Great sandwich + soup spot when you don't want to spend a long time! The desserts are amazing, we always get one regardless of time of day.

A solid counter order restaurant in town for a quick lunch. Very affordable and fast when compared to other options in white bear. Great place to invite co workers to lunch, be first in line and pick up the check! I usually go with the soup and sandwich combo. Zaney mulaney is one of my favorites.

One of my favorite little white bear gems!!!! Everything I've ever had here is awesome, and super fresh. Staff is always super friendly and welcoming. My personal favorite is the Rachel (made with pastrami-so good!!!) with Barbara's garden salad- (this combo got me thru many days of all day morning sickness with one of my pregnancies ) On a side note, I also love their little retail store next door lots of fun goodies/gifts for your kitchen!

We've been coming here since we moved here. They have heartily simple breakfast. Falling within my top 5. Most of their menu items are homemade which is a major factor in taste and freshness. Staff is very friendly! Tip: hours are a little unique but makes it fun to plan trips around. And owner has a unique sense of humor-so don't get caught off-guard if he cracks a joke

Loved this place! Stopped in for a quick bite for lunch based on yelp reviews and we were delighted. An inspired sandwich, soup and salad menu with fresh and flavorful ingredients. Friendly and welcoming service and a warm small town neighborhood gem ambiance. Located in an adorable area of downtown white bear lake. Definitely recommend this for a fresh and lovely lunch with something for everyone.

We stopped by this place after fishing on White Bear Lake. It had great reviews, so we figured we'd give it a try. Overall, great food and customer service! I loved the wait staff (you order at a counter) - she didn't need to write anything down and got all of our 6 orders right. The prices were really reasonable, and the sandwiches were delicious and simple. Definitely worth stopping by and supporting a local sandwich shop versus all the chains nowadays!

I stand by the review as it was written at that time, however I will admit that it's probably time for a re-visit and update. ** Breakfast by microwave. Great service with repeated offers to refill coffee cups. Tables kept clean. Baked goods were good. Breakfast burrito was nice and spicy, but the small amount of "egg" left quite a bit too be desired. I observed the entire meal being prepared in microwave. Really? I see a kitchen, please use it.

Stopped for waffles with my 4 year old - staff is extremely friendly as soon as you walk through the door. Menu for breakfast is small but diverse with excellent options to choose from - if you are concerned check online ahead of time. Waffles come one at a time but both arrived in fairly short order so no concern.

First time, and I ordered to go. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is bang for the buck... I ordered Barbara's salad, which was very good, but at $9.50 I figured I'd have enough to eat twice right?! Nope! I guess I should have ordered the "Just a little salad" for $7.50?...... They claim it to be about 2/3 the size of the $9.50 salad.... Anyhoo, with the exception of the "just a little", all of the salads are priced the same, but most come with chicken..... I'd think that would cost more!?, maybe they're smaller.... Way over priced for what you get! I like to get my monies worth, and will gladly pay for it, but it's not happening here...

I love this lunch spot! I go pretty often to grab a Cobb salad and it's always delicious. There's a lot of seating (around the corner of the counter), staff is super friendly, and food is good. Line can get pretty long between 12-1, but that's to be expected.

I don't know why it took us so long to come here for breakfast. This is like the hidden gem of White Bear Lake. My fiance is from WBL and whenever we visit breakfast was always a struggle for us to find. There are only so many places you can go to nearby before you get sick of having the same thing. On our last visit we got in bright and early after taking the redeye. I was hungry and ready for some good breakfast. We decided to go somewhere new and tried Eat @ Banning & 5th. Their breakfast menu here isn't extensive, but that isn't a bad thing. I remember watching a food show once that talked about how a small menu is a sign that they make things with time and care. A menu that is the size of a novel cannot be cooked with any degree of expertise. So a small menu is generally a good sign. I decided on the bacon and pecan waffles. Waffles are a rare treat for me, so I was quite excited. We took our seats and waited for the food to come. My friends' food came quickly and was delicious. I sat watching them eat waiting patiently for their waffles. I took some bites of their food and it was so good. I was getting quite hungry. I also only had maybe 3 hours of sleep, so I was ready for some warm food then a nap. Here is why I ding this place a star. My friends had all but finished their food when my waffle finally came. I guess there was a big rush for waffles right before we came in. The problem is that they only have one waffle maker... I appreciate that they make everything from scratch, but you have to assume waffles will be pretty popular. I would have at least two waffle makers. The waffle though was pretty spectacular and saved them. The bacon was crispy (something that is hard to do when putting bacon into something) and the pecans were rich and flavorful. The waffle was the right level of crispy outside with fluffy inside. Waffles are easy to make crackery brittle. Once I added the syrup I was done. Heaven on a plate. They also serve lunch here so I am excited to come back and try their other offerings. Everything here looked and smelled great. 52/100

This is a great addition to downtown White Bear. I don't recall ever having gazpacho before, but wow was it awesome. Very fresh and clearly home-made! Loved it. I did it with a half of a sandwich that was equally awesome. My wife also thoroughly enjoyed her salad. The owners / staff were super friendly and excited to see us in there. Can't wait to go back.

I was looking for a good sandwich and this is where Yelp brought me to. The good reviews are spot on. Delicious, made from scratch food and an awesome(!) wait staff combined with a fun and quirky vibe make this a must eat. Try the chili !

This place is delicious. Great sandwiches, wraps, and soups. Don't skip desert though, so good all made from scratch. The owner/chef is also a lot of fun. We were there with our twin girls and he had them laughing the whole time we were in there. The only downside is the hours, it can be hard to get there. But I understand if you're trying to run a restaurant yourself and still have a life. Can't wait to take more people here.

I ate here for lunch today and was very pleased. I had never been to White Bear Lake before and this little restaurant seems to fit perfectly with the overall character of the town. The restaurant itself had very cute décor, felt warm and welcoming, and was clean. The employees were very friendly and happy to help out with suggestions when I asked for recommendations. I opted for the 1/2 Soup/Sandwich combo. The chicken and wild rice soup was FANTASTIC, truly top notch. My sandwich was pretty good. I ordered The Point, which was a vegetarian option (although I'm not a vegetarian), and although it didn't blow me away--it was definitely tasty and moreover, I was impressed by the number of unique sandwich options. It is so often that you see the same sandwiches appear on almost every menu you look at, and EAT actually had some fun choices to select from. For that reason alone I would return, as I am always interested in trying new things. My two co-workers agreed that the soups were amazing (one had the chicken and wild rice like me, and the other had butternut squash). They also agreed that the sandwiches were good, but not at the same level as the soups. One of my co-workers ordered the reuben and the other the tuna salad. This was a great lunch spot and I'd definitely return to try other things off of their menu.

Quick, yummy lunches. Great menu and daily specials. The desserts look fantastic ( although I have yet to try them...it's lunch time people!!) so far I've only tried a couple of sandwiches but am looking forward to trying other items in the future!

This place is fantastic! The Southwest breakfast sandwich I had here was wonderful! Staff was very friendly and helpful and I'm excited to come back. Now I'm off to the kitchen/pantry store that's connected to it to see what they offer.

The freshest, yummiest, sandwiches and sandwiches. Wonderful breakfast choices if you are there earlier in the day. I love the Oriental salad and Zany Mullaney combo. Pricing is very reasonable and the food comes up fast. You'll definitely want to try this place and be ready to return over and over!

Went here for breakfast. They don't have a huge menu, but I thought they offered a good variety, most people would be able to find something they would be happy with. The food was excellent. I ordered the morning platter. The hash brown casserole was to die for. I would highly recommend this spot.

Found this spot on yelp, visiting from Colorado. Incredible breakfast spot, great people, amazing food. You can't beat homemade!!! And you certainly can't beat the cost of food for the quality you receive. Yum!!! Only here for three days, and we came back a second time. You don't want to miss it!

Definitely a winner. The food was amazing, I had soup and salad. The soup, a perfectly seasoned and wonderfully delightful Texas bean, just the slightest hint of heat on a rainy November day. The salad a wonderful Cobb with a very pleasant blue cheese dressing. The restaurant was filling up nicely at 11:45 am on Election Day. My wife enjoyed a very tasty BLT. Overall delicious lunch definitely worth a return trip.
