This is a beautiful trail that is relatively easy with river crossings and close to LA. You don't even have to drive up the mountains. Plenty of street parking, even on a busy day. One of the most accessible bang for your buck hikes. The trail is short compared to other fall trails.
The downside? Well, since it is so accessible and close to LA, you will be seeing LOTS of people. This is NOT a place I would recommend if you want to get away from the big city and noisy crowds, or if you want some peace and quiet. This feels more akin to Yosemite during the summer or Disneyland.
Because it is so accessible to those from all over the city, expect to see lots of dog poop bags on the ground, and lots of loud boomboxes at every corner. Thankfully it is cleaner than Azusa river, were it is typically filled with graffiti and trash. Great hike, but do expect to see a lot of the same type of LA people you would find at your local mall/walmart here.
Highly recommend to get hear early, as you will avoid most of the crowd. Even then, there was already a crowd waiting at 8:00 for the gates to open.
The nature preserve was neat :)
