This is about the abbey, not the hotel! Beautiful place, but somewhat of a tourist trap. 16 € entry, an audioguide which was one of the more useless I have ever handled. Very few directions, difficult to find out where the "tour" was supposed to take you. Works to arrange for a concert disturbed the experience as well.

We came here hoping for a historically immersive experience — and perhaps to learn something about winemaking. Unfortunately, neither of those expectations were met. The building was filled with modern objects clearly intended for events hosted there, rather than for conveying a sense of the past. There was no storytelling or display that offered insight into what life must have been like. Instead of highlighting the fascinating lives of the monks who once lived here, Lego figures were placed in their former quarters (the Lego displays were the best part of the tour.) There wasn’t even an image or explanation of the winemaking process — a missed opportunity, considering how interesting and rich that craft is. I would strongly recommend that the museum consider collaborating with reenactment groups or other historical storytellers. For one of Europe’s largest and oldest monasteries, this was a disappointing testament to the centuries of life once lived here.

Went to the beautifully located wine bar and enjoyed a Riesling overlooking the monastery. Friendly service and fantastic wine. Highly recommend!

The setting for "The Name of the Rose" film is where German winemaking was perfected. Monks discovered late harvest wines here by accident when they forgot some grapes. The cellar's "thousand-year-old" oak barrel actually dates to 1727 - still impressive for holding 120,000 liters.

A beautiful non-working monastery which offers a museum, exhibitions and wine shop. The LEGO exhibition was particularly impressive, and I would recommend it for adults and children alike!

I don't think enough could be said about this place - it is rather remarkable. If you're into central European history in any sense, this is absolutely worth a visit, given the huge importance this place have had for hundreds of years. Everything is very well kept and accessible for either taking a self-guided tour or just strolling and contemplating. It's an entire vacation in itself! It should perhaps be noted here that the audio-guided tour left some things to be desired: besides being a little confusing to navigate, there was an entire section (the old hospital) missing or being unavailable for some reason. That was, however, the only real complaint we could make.

I visited this conference center because of work. The meeting room was good, the hotel room was nice and the food was delicious. You might not find the conference room if you're there the first time, so just save your time and ask the personnel. I don't know about the prices, because the trip was work related, but I can recommend it. They have a lot of parking spaces, but you have to pay for each day that you need one - talk to the operator of the hotel, they might offer a deal. The property is nice, they have a park, but unfortunatelly I was there between fall and winter.

This is a former monastery , now a Vineyard. Area is full of beautiful grape creepers. They are yellowish in color. There is church ⛪ and a hotel in the same premises. There are special events for kids. The day I went here , the place was full of kids with parents. I ❤ love the calmness of the monastery.

Yelp
Tucked away in the hills that overlook the Rhine, you'll find Kloster Eberbach. It is stunning in its serenity and impressive to think that it was built long ago without the help of modern construction. You may recognize it from the 1986 Sean Connery film "The name of the Rose". My family is emigrated from a city just down the road and that used to be a part of the Monastery's estate, and I'm fortunate to stay in touch with the relatives that stayed behind. On Christmas day last year when everything is closed (and the parents wanted to tend to the Christmas roast -- think the same fuss as a Thanksgiving turkey), we young 'uns headed down to the Abbey to check things out. The buildings were closed, but the grounds were open, and we and some other locals meandered around, finally winding up by the sheep and goats. One little guy kept poking his head out to have his chin scratched, and I was happy to oblige him. I'll look forward to my next visit, hopefully on a day when the place is open so I can tour it and learn more about the Abbey's history!

Yelp
This was my first time visiting a previous monastery dwelling and was surprised to know that only 120 monks lived on such a beautiful estate. I came here with a group from work for a team building adventure. We started out breaking into teams for a scavenger hunt around the monastery; then hiked up the top of the hill to see a breath taking view of the countryside and had a light snack at the summit; then returning for a formal tour of the monastery followed by wine tasting in the cellar; and finally we had dinner here at their restaurant to wrap up our 5 hour excursion. Today this place is used for festivals and concerts but you get an appreciation of the dedication and effort of a few men that resulted in an amazing historical landmark. There was also a movie filmed here in the 1980's by Sean Connery. This was a humbling and fantastic experience all rolled into one great adventure that I would highly recommend as a must see place that you will appreciate.

Yelp
As you enter this simply stunning place of quiet peace, a calm comes over you immediately. I could have stood in the cloister for over an hour if they had allowed it. After our informative tour by Roger, we had a wine tasting and delicious meal of salad, bread, vegetarian ravioli (sirloin steak in Sherry mushroom sauce if you choose) and chocolate souffle. Beautiful setting in the hills of Germany. No word could describe the entire evening - you'll just have to experience.

Yelp
Lovely setting and delicious food. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed and the service was excellent. I had salmon that was done perfectly. I can't recall what my husband had, but he said it was delicious.
