12 Best Miso Pastes 2020

"For a readily available, affordable red miso I turn to Shirakiku’s Aka soy bean paste; red miso is fermented longer and has a stronger, saltier, slightly smoky profile that I reserve for heartier dishes—chefs use it for cooking meat or as a base for mapo tofu because it can stand up to richer proteins." - Dominique Pariso

Google
Ebisu is a true gem! Their selection of Japanese imported goods is great. Their drink and snack selection is especially wonderful. I was thrilled to find my favorite milk tea that I had every day in Japan at Ebisu! The prices of everything are really good, considering it's all imported. The store is also really clean, and they have convenient little hand baskets that roll on wheels. Don't forget to check out their claw machines and gachapon.

Google
Awesome little store with so many goodies and things to check out. From snacks to beauty products to gashapon machines. If you keep up with their Instagram page, you can also catch when they restock on Labubus! Definitely overpriced but a good grab if you can get them compared to how difficult it is to get them off popmart sites. They also have special editions too. Now for my standard comments. Location is clean and well kept.

Google
I would have given this five stars because the store was clean, orderly and adorable but the employees were unhelpful. Didn't greet us or anyone else when coming in the doors. At one point there were three employees at the register chatting with each other and two of them had ear buds in their ears.

Natalie K.

Google
Had the absolute best experience at Ebisu!! There was the sweetest employee ever… I want to say his name was Chris (I am horrible with names so forgive me) but he was definitely from Louisiana and he was AMAZING!! We drove 1.5 hours away from Northern Colorado and got there an hour before close, this particular employee was sure to greet us, gave us amazing recommendations on snacks, drinks, and beauty products, and made the overall experience so incredibly nice! We will definitely be returning soon! Thank you!!

Natapon C.

Google
Your shop is very pretty and has a cute, welcoming atmosphere. However, the payment lane was confusing and unclear. It seemed like it should be an easy process, but there was no clear direction. When one lane opened, an employee told us it was closed without any signage or explanation. I just wanted to share this feedback so that it can be improved in the future. I hope everything runs more smoothly next time. Thank you!

Meenal V.

Google
Loved the variety this store had. Kiosk and vending machines were fun. They even had Labubu’s and other collectibles.

Brittany F.

Google
Chris was amazing! He gave us all the recommendations on everything from snacks, to face wash, to hair care. He made us feel very welcome and we loved the vibe of the entire store. The vending machines and cotton candy machine was a fun bonus. I will definitely be back!

Ashley L.

Google
Clean store, cute stuff, a lot of it is way over priced. The staff has never been friendly all the times I’ve been in. Most recently the lady just let us stand there at checkout right in front of her while she continued counting money and we waited on her to checkout. Very awkward.

Yelp
Fun place to visit, especially after doing a grocery run at HMart! There are a lot of cool items for purchase and a section of the store dedicated to crane games! Everything is very Kawaii. I especially enjoy their selection of beauty products and come regularly to restock my moisturizers and beauty supplies. The life-sized anime characters at the entrance are an awesome greeting as you visit the store. It really sets a cool mood to your shopping experience!

Yelp
I have always had a positive experience at this store with my kids. They consistently find their favorite snacks and drinks, and the store is always well-maintained and organized. The customer service is also top-notch. Spending time here is always enjoyable, and the experience is distinct and satisfying. I am grateful that this store is located in K-town, which I have always liked that's why I love living in Aurora because it's very diverse and has everything you need with no need to travel far away and offers more hidden gems to uncover than any other city in the Colorado.

Yelp
A good selection of goods, but the prices are high, and the makeup section was trashed. I was hoping to try some Rom&nd and other cosmetics. Did get a few things, but probably won't be back.

Yelp
I've always been curious about this store and had some time to visit. All the aisles are neatly organized. There's a small room of food items in fridges such as durian, baos, and frozen items. There's another small room filled with claw machines and even Labubu's and clothing you can purchase. I checked out their snack selections, but it seemed they were priced slightly higher than other places I've gone to. The location is also super convenient in the same plaza as H Mart. Fun to browse!

Yelp
This place is soo cute. It's a very clean nice calm spot, there's tons of interesting and amazing food/snacks/knickknacks. I tried some rose petal Oreos and it definitely tasted like if I got a regular Oreo and dipped into rosemary water. I don't know how they got that flavor, but they definitely got it right haha. I'm definitely coming back to show other people this cute little spot. Some items are a bit overpriced, but that shouldn't be surprising. It's a very nice spot I definitely would recommend a little 2 to 4 dollar sponge cake/bread they have their really good. My aunt went to Japan, not too long ago and I did recognize some of the candy/treats she bought us so it's definitely authentic. I recommend coming and even taking just some pictures.

Yelp
Ebisu was noticeably busier after the opening the Daiso nearby. The parking lot was even packed. Probably many people also figured out they carried more better known Japanese brands, curated household items and a whole bunch of snacks and drinks. They even had claw machines for the more adventurous. Of course, even with a packed parking lot, it was still way easier to find a parking spot here. If you found Daiso to be eye opening, then you have to pay a visit to Ebisu, you will be more amazed and entertained. It's conveniently located right across the street anyway.

Yelp
Really fun spot to find unique and fun items from Japan! A variety of things such as beauty products, food, home items, etc. Very large! I spent basically 2 hours in here looking at everything.

Yelp
This place has great potential. I stopped by on a weekend afternoon while running my errands in hopes of finding some green tea to avoid having to go into the seemingly always crowded neighboring H Mart, since that's all I really needed. I was taken aback by the life size anime figures at the entrance in the best way possible! I felt like I was about to be transported to Japan and excitement crept up. Upon entering, to the right were so many cute little vending machines. If I had a little in my life, I'd definitely bring them here. Then there was a section that held some food items, but to my dismay no tea. I figured it may be elsewhere so my journey continued. I came across goodies upon goodies from awesomely adorable stationery (I came across this cute little cat paw pen that I had to get because I love cats and turned out to be an awesome writing utensil) to useful everyday things like paper towels, toiletries, and air fresheners. They even had food storage containers and plates/bowls! The staff was friendly and the cashier saw I picked a car air freshener that had a scent to one of their hand lotions so he gave me a whiff of it and I immediately fell in love with the smell. Sadly they were sold out so I do plan to come back in a month to see if it's in stock. It all reminded me of a small version of Teso Life and Daiso (IYKYK) but with a more small business feel. I'll definitely come back to check them out again and see if they carry other seasonal items, too. All in all, highly recommend checking them out!

Yelp
Chinese owned store named the store after a popular Japanese district. It does really well and is great for snacks, cute figures and a few anime overpriced keychains/gifts or even hard to find japanese beauty products i.e. Fino hair mask if you like shopping in person but go to the actual japanese Daiso home store opened in March 2025 for gadgets similar to dollar general basics. Other behind counter items: Labubu Macaron box is different greenish color vs Popmart's actual boxes and they do display what they sell as a disclaimer. I was here for the outfits which tbh could've been bought on Ali express. Ambience: Cashier team is super sweet. However, supervisor basically stands next to you as you shop keeping a close eye making us feel uncomfortable as we browsed items next to the cashiers. I posted my Labubu purchased for $50 (double the value) at a different shop in Aurora and she is modeling some of the clothes from Ebisu.

Yelp
Whether you like it or not, this spot is wonderful! They have all sorts of intriguing items from snacks, bottled beverages, and apparel to health and beauty products- you name it, they have it. Just the redundancy itself creates an enjoyable shopping experience to nip around and check out new things. Life-sized anime figures were just so cute. If you have been to Daiso, then you'd know that their focus lies in home goods more. In contrast, Ebisu feels like it's a self-care place, just like a Walgreens. Generally, prices are much higher in Ebisu since everything is imported. But not everything it seems is overpriced, so definitely worth a look.

Yelp
Who doesn't love a unique Japanese store like this! As you walk in, you notice bigger than life size anime characters like Dragon ball and One piece characters. The store itself is adorable, they carry everything from food, snacks, to stationery to makeup. Definitely worth checking out. The only downside is that everything is on the pricey side. Expect to spend some money. We also didn't get any acknowledgement from the employees working. They just stayed behind the counter. My kids enjoyed exploring the store and left with some pens and snacks. They had one of those Gashapon machines which is Japanese capsules vending machine but everything was sold out so my kids couldn't enjoy it which was lame since that was the main reason for our visit . Definitely will check back to see if it's operational next time.

Yelp
Brought my friend to see the different Asian items they have. Checked out the skin care section for her to look for an eye cream. I cooed over their Sanrio items and wanted the dish set and stickers. Hair accessories and pens. So many things I would love in my home. Clean and bright store. Polite associates who greet you when you come in. So much fun! Good gift items too.

Yelp
This place made me feel like a kid in my home town in Japan! I stopped by H Mart quickly to get a few items for tonight's dinner. As I was walking back to my car I took notice of this Japanese goods store so I had to step in to check it out. OK, can someone tell me when this store opened? It's mid-February in 2023 and I didn't know until today that such a place existed. Several figures (6.5 feet statues) from Dragon Ball welcome you at the entrance. It may kind of confuse you as if it were a toy store. This store (although it's not a grocery store) is quite the size. It carries from snacks to leggings to table wares to beauty supplies. You could call it an upscale convenience store. The store is well lit so you can see the goods clearly. Row after row of items overwhelm you because you simply cannot choose which ones you want to buy. If this is not heaven then what is it?? There is even a boutique inside of it. They also sell tax free items. This is definitely Japan in Aurora. Even if you go there just to browse you might not come out empty handed so be ready to spend $$ or $&& (lol!!)
google avatar

Melissa D.

Yelp
It's a fun little spot if you don't mind incredibly inflated pricing, it's cute. The few items I did purchase were fine. No quality concerns. They do have a large selection of different products. The cashier at check out was nice and seemed to enjoy his job.
google avatar

Yelp
What a fun store! My kiddo is super into all things Japanese and we found everything from trinkets to tasty snacks! Will be back!
google avatar

Kailee N.

Yelp
Ebisu is a beautiful convenience store with products of all types! Stop by and grab some unique gifts for your friends! Find the Japanese beauty products you've been missing, snacks, hair products, toys, cleaning supplies, ramen, organizational products, and anime products! This is exactly what the convenience stores in Japan look like and this was such a happy find! Try some new snacks and beauty products and I swear you will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Christian B.

Yelp
About the most interesting part about this place is the large life size statues of anime and manga characters by the front door. The interior is filled with everything Japanese from snacks to household items to shampoo and hair coloring. Anybody from Japan or somebody that just came back after visiting will appreciate this bright, clean an well kept store. The cashier was friendly and polite as her rang up our purchases.
google avatar

Christopher A.

Yelp
Don't believe any reviews about fake toys or merchandise. If you stand in front of the counter for 15 minutes and decide you want to buy something while researching on your phone, it's not the stores fault you didn't read the sign that clearly says no refunds or exchanges. And if you leave the store with the product and bring it back opened definitely don't blame the store or staff. They work hard and try to keep up during both spring break and anime conventions while dealing with overflow from nearby stores opening and flooding the store with guests that don't want to wait 2 hours in line at a grand opening. I've returned something that was misplaced in the wrong box and the staff kindly replaced the item with the one i thought I purchased with no problems. It's all about how you approach the staff and management.

Yelp
Cute store - awesome assortment of snacks, household items, trinkets, and collectibles. Always stop in here for gifts and stocking stuffers!
google avatar

Yelp
Daiso is known for being the Japanese dollar store but Ebisu is more like a Teso Life which is a Japanese lifestyle store with snacks, beauty products, and other little knickknacks you pick up unintentionally. It's a very clean place and there's so much to browse through. While the products are all in Japanese, there are labels that translates what the item is in English. You could easily spend your money here. I am very happy they have a wonderful selection of Japanese shampoo and conditioner that I am excited to try in the future. While places like YesStyle are cheaper, it's nice for the convenience knowing I can pick up a product without waiting for weeks.

Hannah R.

Yelp
Do not get a Labubu here they are fake ! I should have seen the red flags when they said they wouldn't give me a receipt for the labubu and they said no refunds or returns. Paid $35 for a cheap fake Labubu really disappointed me.
google avatar

Steven S H C.

Yelp
Ebisu... what is it like? I thought it was something like Daiso but definitely different. It's hodge podge of everything you can think of. I didn't spend more than 5 minutes looking around but saw coffee drinks of many different kinds, Japanese drinks. Hair care products and cosmetic products. One thing I noticed was a hot drink case which has canned coffees inside. Over all, good place to check out for something different or if you are looking for specific items and they carry it. I saw $35 Jojurushi thermos to bath sponges
google avatar

Cassandra F.

Yelp
Very fun little Asian convenience store. Found a good things there that I don't usually find at Hmart. Highly recommend stopping in if you're a fan of anything Asian. Only warning, there are very few signs in English so prepare to do some guessing if you don't read Japanese or Korean
google avatar

Sonya L.

Yelp
BEWARE of the coin machines. My son wanted to get something from the toy machine and put in a token. He didn't realize that you need 9 tokens for the machine. 1 token = $1. I told him to put the button so he can get his token back, but the machine doesn't return your token. BE SURE that you have the exact amount or ELSE it will keep your money. I told the cashier that my son wanted his token back because he didn't have enough money to purchase the item. She told me sorry, the machine doesn't give refunds. Refund?!?! He didn't even buy anything. So basically the store just stole a 13 year old's dollar. Well I hope that $1 was worth stealing from a child over my potential future business at Ebisu Japanese Lifestyle Store in Aurora, CO.

Karina R.

Yelp
This store is magnificent! Very well stocked and the staff are very helpful and friendly! Would want this store to open more locations, love this store and will always gladly return to support.
google avatar

Benny R.

Yelp
Kinda like a blink-and-youll miss it kinda place. It's pretty big, but the windows don't allow you to see inside, so if you happen to drive or walk by, it's difficult to understand what this store is. Inside is totally cute stuff. Everything from snacks, collectibles to skincare - I personally come here for the Japanese sunscreens, that are difficult to get other places than Amazon. If you're into japanese snacks, come here. I didn't really see any fresh food options. If you like Japanese skincare, this place also has a good assortment of products. A lot of anime collectible items, too!
google avatar

Yelp
RACIST BUSINESS! DON'T SUPPORT! My roommate had been excited for weeks to go to this store ever since she seen a video of it online. She's really into anime and figured they might carry some of the snacks she's seen on the shows. AS SOON as we walked through the door UNTIL WE LEFT we were followed around by the two female employees. Not once were we greeted or asked if we needed any help. Even though my friend was clearly having trouble finding something, and we were the only customers in the store at that time, the workers still ignored assisting us. But they did manage to find the time to continue following us down EVERY aisle, look us up and down, and make it very OBVIOUS that they were talking about us to each other in their language. I was ready to leave the minute we arrived ,but my friend really did want to try some of the snacks (And she gets nervous when she's being followed around as if she's going to steal something so she then feels pressured to purchase something) so she ended up getting $30 worth of products. I didn't give them a penny! BUT WAIT, IT GETS BETTER!! When we made it to the check out the first thing I noticed is the HUGE security monitor. It had a live still frame picture for every aisle in the store (not a big store). I just can't understand why they felt the need to follow us around when they LITERALLY have every angle of that store covered in cameras. They could have just watched the monitor the whole time from the register instead of making us feel SO UNCOMFORTABLE!!!!!! And I read a previous review that this has happened to others as well. I believe this is a reoccurring issue for SOME people. Because I couldn't help but notice after other customers came into the store they were not followed..... for the record I'm white and my roommate is mixed. We will NOT be returning to this store again. And honestly after the way we were treated that was probably their intentions. To keep "some" types of people from returning. But it's not worth it anyways. Besides being treated like a delinquent, the stuff is WAY overpriced and just not good. My friend ended up throwing away more than half of the snacks she bought. I strongly advise going to the Asian market that is located across from this place! More variety, more affordable, and LESS INTIMIDATING! P.S. my friend wanted me to include that for a japanese lifestyle store they really don't carry much anime, besides the small anime figurines that you could easily purchase at hobby lobby for half the price..
google avatar

Frankie G.

Yelp
Love the selection here. Grandkids enjoy coming here. A lot of the prices for kids toys are good and good quality .
google avatar

Vivian C.

Yelp
Very cute store! You would never have guessed that it would be so cute prior to walking in. A lot of rare Japanese snack goodies that even impressed my friend who used to live in Japan. They also have a good selection of Japanese health goods, beauty products, bath soaps, and more! It was really fun to explore and I am definitely coming back in the future.
google avatar

Yelp
Cool Japanese inspired store! We are new to Denver's big city and always get lost in it's options. I discovered this store while driving by and we had to make a u-turn back to it. My fiancé is half Japanese so that was the perfect hot spot for us. They had so much to choose from:drinks, snacks, candy, hygiene products and more ! The atmosphere was super sleek and modern, very well lit and clean. I was super impressed with everything. Now when we come back to Denver on our weekend we will have to make a stop at Ebisu for their items.

Yelp
Has a great selection of all sorts of things! Small section for anime figures. When you walk in you are greeted by two DBZ statues and Luffy! Great selection for some food and snacks! I loved it!

Yelp
A wonderful Japanese goods store Ebisu isn't a grocery store, but instead has snacks, beauty products, household goods, and even condoms and bras! Everything is Japanese... no other Asian products like so many other stores have. I filled up my shopping basket and honestly could have bought so much more. The staff were nice and friendly... we weren't surveilled like mentioned in other comments. My only complaint is that it is far away from Boulder.... Which may be better for my budget! The shopping bag is a cute reusable bag too. If you love Japanese culture, get to Ebisu as soon as you can!
google avatar

Novie L.

Yelp
i just bought something from the store and i notice it is broken i come back and ask for the return they said no return and no exchange they even don't ask the reason what the hell poor service never coming back here be careful guys
google avatar

Marada M.

Yelp
Went in on a whim with my husband. From the outside the business looked eerily abandoned because of the heavily tinted windows but as soon as we walked through the entrance we found lifestyle models from different anime. Inside the store was filled with everything ranging from refreshments, snacks and dishes to makeup and hair dye. The store was clean and the staff was friendly, even to a couple clearly coming in out of curiosity.

Dale H.

Yelp
I stopped in this store to support my local community. I made a special trip. I looked at all the things. To be polite, I purchased some cookies and snacks. I also purchased a little novelty charm. When I got home I found that the charm was broken when I opened the packaging. Ok so another trip to the store. Girl behind the counter would not exchange the charm. She said I must have broken it and no refunds. I said I just want to exchange it. She said no. We went back and forth. I was very surprised she didn't believe me. Also not being nice at all. This is not how a new shop should be. To build a new customer base, the customer is right. This was totally unacceptable. I grabbed a new charm and walked out. Another woman grabbed the girl and made the motion of just let him go. Im not coming back. Keep your $29.95 can of cookies.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this store. The selection is great, with many Japanese beauty supplies. However, their prices are high. I paid four times as much as I did in LA and Honolulu for the same stuff (but at least I bought a replacement without having to buy a plane ticket).
google avatar

Mia A.

Yelp
Very clean store and nice variety, but when we wanted to check out, I said hello and none of the cashiers responded. They were busy having a conversation. I don't mind them having a convo or something, but a little customer service goes a long way.
google avatar

Kimmy L.

Yelp
Nice and beautiful store! It reminded me of convenient/drug stores in Japan where I can probably spend more than an hour to explore various and fun products. I got some facial masks, some Japanese meds, drip coffees, and ramens. They carry so many different items and each aisle was well organized. Strongly recommend to visit this nice store and find lots of goodies from Japan!
google avatar

Lely D.

Yelp
We were excited to visit but as soon as we walked in we were followed by one of the employees, she made us feel very uncomfortable. She never said hello, or smiled she would just follow us around the store. I left the things I wanted to buy and left.
google avatar

Edward T.

Yelp
Sort of like a Japanese Walgreens. Lots of snacks, drinks, hair care products straight from Japan. Sometimes hard to tell exactly what you are getting.

Mayai A.

Yelp
Such a cute store! However the store associates kept following me and my mom in law around. At first I was like maybe they think we need help? But every aisle they kept following us. I should have asked them, what are you doing? But I don't like feeling like I'm being watched. It's a cute store. But they have tons of cameras in there, which is nice. But I was not too sure why they felt the need to follow us to each aisle? I won't be back because of this.
google avatar

Cadell A.

Yelp
OMG I LOVE THIS PLACE SO MUCH!!! I got some really cool Japanese bath salts and snacks! Recommended!

Yelp
Cute little grocery store/ shop. You can find different foods, candies, beauty products, hair products, household items, cleaning supplies, and more! Everything is labeled with English on the shelves and the atmosphere is very nice.

Yelp
OVER PRICED MERCHANDISE AS WELL AS EMPLOYEES FOLLOWING YOU AROUND I decided to visit this store after going to H-mart as I enjoy supporting local businesses and that turned out to be a bad idea. As soon as I walked in I noticed one of the female employees secretly following me around as if I was going to shop lift something (first time this has happed to me in any store ever) . Every time I looked back she believes she's slick and starts to pretend to be organizing merchandise. This went on for the remainder of my time there which caused the visit to be extremely disappointing and uncomfortable. Most of the items were also highly marked up compared to other near by small businesses which sell similar things. The candy that I had purchased had a very strong laundry detergent taste to them which reminded me of tide pods. I don't understand why they have employees stalk people around when they have a whole cc-tv system with multiple angles of the store near the cashier area. Don't visit this business as it'll only be a waste of money and time.

Addison R.

Yelp
Cute shop with quite a bit squeezed into a small space. Prepare to spend way too much because you can't stop throwing things in your cart.

K-ta U.

Yelp
Meh. I drove all the way from Westminster just to check out what it was all about. They have a variety of items but I'd say 50% of the store was personal care, cosmetic and pharmaceutical type items from Japan and half the items were of really strange brands LOL. The rest were some houseware, and snacks/food/beverage items. But again, very little major brands. They had signs of brand logos all over the stores but not the actual items...really strange. If their goal is to carry Brands that other Asian stores in town don't carry, then I guess that's good but it was not the best representation of the popular Japanese items. And everything was over priced. I bought 4 items (sauce, mentholatum ointment, an eye liner and a chapstick) and spent $40, OMG ridiculous! I also noticed an item that was selling next door at Hmart for $5.40 was $6.40 at Ebisu. The store was clean but there were some empty shelves with nothing on them.maybe they will stock up with better items in the future but needless to say, I really need to return to this place.
