Cozy nice place to have the feeling of local atmosphere. Food was very good, the service was not so. When paying double check your order and receipt (use google translate)

Google
(From review of 餃子の酔拳) While passing by, our attention was peaked by the deep interior of Ebisu Yokocho, a claustrophobic street with a patchwork of small izakayas. We decided to chance an entry - but this is 2025. It would be suicide to stumble in without at least a cursory glance at google maps. Consulting the starrage, we homed in on "gyoza no suiken" and resisted the greedy eyes of the touts hoping to land their first naive group of foreigners. Clearly they had no idea I'm a qualified google maps reviewer. The street itself was crammed with locals. If you come here for just the vibe I think anywhere would give you a good time. Ratings on the gyoza were definitely justified. Plump, juicy and embellished with Chinese spices. You'd better have a beer in you already though as it was very expensive. the portion sizes and lofty alcohol prices were clearly designed to leave you out of pocket. I have to say though, the unspoken camaraderie of rosy cheeks and clinking glasses leaves you with a satisfying social buzz.If you're on the old money daddy's credit card holiday, or just not poor like me, the atmosphere is definitely worth it.

i don’t know why this place doesn’t have a higher rating, it was such an affordable and good izakaya. we came back twice during our stay. the service was great, food was cheap, drinks were not watered down. i’d come again if i’m in osaka again

I love it here. I can come back multiple nights and always experience something a little different. My personal favorite was Tengudaruma right at the entrance. But don't be afraid to venture in deeper.

Went to Hakata Izakaya Kame-chan. These guys were so friendly, kind and took the time to listen to dietaries. As someone who is gluten free and has an allergy to peanuts they were able to adjust the dishes so I was able to eat them. I wasn’t able to have the grilled pork with ponzu so they made it with lemon and salt which was delicious. I also had edamame, rice with raw egg, spring onion and nori. Such a great find when wanting something affordable, fresh, local and gluten free without having to pay an excessive amount, or without going to a chain. Pictures is also a few dishes my partner ordered which were not gluten free- he loved them. (Especially the soup gyoza)

I love this place! Whenever I have any friends visiting Tokyo, I bring them here. In particular, there is one place that only cooks mushroom dishes, and it might be my favourite place to eat in Tokyo, even though it can get a little pricy. It has a very lively traditional/retro atmosphere here, and there's always some guy playing a guitar somewhere. It can get very crowded so it's best to get there early if you don't want to stand around waiting for a seat.

Decided to have izakaya for dinner. Took a train to Ebisu and walk to Ebisu Yokocho. When you go inside, you see a space that are sub-divided into many izakaya or more like yatais in Kyushu. So chaotic and overwhelming for 1st timers like us. Decided on the first izakaya but realised that it is a bbq beef and only serve beef. Cannot have our dinner there as Kelly will have very limited food options. Have to vacate and chose another Izakaya. We had our meals while soaking in the vibes as well as watch the chef whipping up many dishes very quickly. Food is decent but not great and overall, the meal is not cheap compared (11900 yen for four of us) to the other dinners that we had. Well, just go for the experience but once is enough for me. I will rather go to a regular izakaya.

Google
This is one of those places you just have to go in with an open mind and enjoy the food and experience. Grab a bite here and grab a bit there. So many cool izakayas packed into one place. This is always a go-to spot for me when I’m in Tokyo/Ebisu area. It’s a younger crowd, but it gets busy nearly everyday of the week. Get there early if you want to bounce around with little wait. Once the evening crowd starts filling up seats, it gets much harder to get food quickly. Beer everywhere!

Yelp
If you want to experience true Japanese culture, this is the place. Even though I'm Japanese, I still was in shock at the cramp-ness and craziness. When you arrive, you'll have to first decide which stall you would like to eat at. After which you'll have to squeeze in and find a seat. I ended up at the very beginning? end? of the hall and pretty much made friends with everyone at the stall since it's so cozy. Plus, Japanese people love Hawaii so naturally, it was a conversation starter for me. The food was awesome. I especially loved the avocado. Oh and the drinks! You'll for sure end up just asking for another round. If you're claustrophobic, don't go here. LoL.

Yelp
Our local friend took us to ebisu yokocho because it was more local than other alleyways and we loved it! Super cute little stalls with amazing and different food at each one. If you do not like sitting in loud areas or tight spaces, this is not for you. We tried some horse sushi and raw chicken (I am still alive). Fresh sashimi, oysters and more. Each stall requires you to buy a drink but they offer a complimentary little appetizer. More on my blog: https://sincerelyloewe.com/tokyo-hokkaido-food-festival-shibuya/

Yelp
What an awesome little yokocho. I didn't want to go to the Shinjuku yokochos because last time I went, it was too touristy. This seemed like a perfect slice of Japanese cultures and there were barely any foreigners. It's also different from the other yokochos as it wasn't really an outdoor street alley and more an indoor cramped arcade. Reading some of the other reviews, some non-Japanese had issues with being able to get seated or being served but we went to 2 of the stalls in this alley and had no issues at all. We went late on a Friday night thinking we had missed the dinner rush but boy were we wrong. It was cramped to the max and it was an adventure just having to squeeze past everyone! We tried the gyutan (beef tongue) place in the middle which was really good and the yakitori (chicken skewers) stall at the end which was just okay. Definitely a great place off the beaten path to experience local culture.

Yelp
Fun place and the Japanese girls are very friendly here! Food isn't the best but is reasonably priced. The atmosphere makes up for that though. Get there early, 6pm, or you may not get a seat. We went on a rainy weekday and it was still packed by 730p.

Yelp
There are so many reasons why I live around Meguro-Shibuya area. One of those is this place. There's always a party here! No need for a holiday or any special occasion...there's always a happening. Food and drinks are cheap. And they're super delicious! And if you need a mariachi to serenade you...there's one, sometimes 2, if you're lucky. ;)

Yelp
Probably my favorite place that we got to try during our trip to Japan - it's definitely challenging to find, but it is packed with restaurants and bars. Most (if not all) of the menus are in Japanese, so I recommend coming here with a hungry stomach and an open mind. We went to the restaurant that had a mushroom specialty (based on all of the pictures on their menu) and it was spectacular. Got a salad with roasted meat on top, salted cucumbers, gyoza... the list goes on and on, but honestly, you don't really need specific cuisine recommendations here. Just ask them for what they recommend.

Yelp
Ebisu Yokocho I.S. A D.R.E.A.M C.O.M.E T.R.U.E.!!!! My BF found out about it on his phone! I was really hungry and we were in Shibuya so I wanted to eat in Shibuya, but we had gone to so many of my places of choice that I felt it would only be fair to go with my BF on this adventure! It took a while to get here but it was well worth the wait!!!! Ebisu Yokocho is like a Mexican mercado. A Mexican mercado is a large building with small spaces inside to eat and get produce and other stuff. A mercado is like Grand Central Market in Los Angeles. We stopped by a small spot with a lady taht didn't speak English but she managed to enlist the service of a young man from another one of the spots to translate! The food here is cheap by Tokyo standards and it is awesome by anyone's standards! You get the feeling you are really experiencing authenticity here! Whenever the lady did not have something we wanted they would get it from another one of the spots in Ebisu Yokocho! That's what I call teamwork!!!! What can I do without at Ebisu Yokocho? It's perfect!!!! What makes Ebsiu Yokocho stand out? Authenticity and value!!!! Five stars!!!! Ebisu Yokocho is really, really ridiculously great!!!!

Yelp
This yokocho is a party! Went here on a week day night and it was STILL full of people! I do not know exactly which places I ate at, but one place was basic izakaya finger foods (grilled chicken/veggies/seafood), and another place I went to we grilled our own pork. Beer/High balls are CHEAP here!! Only like 400-500 yen per glass! Wish my group could have tried more places as there were so many! There was 7 of us and it was hard to find a place to sit down with even 3-4 seats since it was just so crowded. Most of the crowd seemed like business men that just got off work, and a lot of younger people going out for drinks/food. There was also a guy going around playing guitar and asking for any requests.

Yelp
I came here with a group of 8 people. It is basically an alleyway filled with a bunch of restaurants. I ate at one if the bars and had a blast. I got some fries, some oden, umeshu and even some fried chicken kaarage. Get the chicken kaarage!!

Yelp
The best place in Ebisu for late night food fuckin' period。It's all about good food, drinks and dippin' with strangers. That's the acme of nightlife and what every yokocho should be like!

Yelp
Wish we had a chance to try the place. It was packed and when we found a table the server told us it's for Japanese only. Went into bar to grab a drink and bartender told us the same. Not sure if it's for Japanese only or we just had bad luck but not a good experience. Maybe try it if you have a Japanese speaker with you.

Yelp
This is such a fun place! Whenever i have friends from out of town visit, I will take them here to drink from one shop to another. Ebisu Yokochoan L shaped arcade all filled with izakayas, restaurants and bars. it is always lively and packed with all the cool peeps in Ebisu. If you're tipsy enough, you can also to Snack Wakeari at the end of the corner and have continue drinking and sing to your heart's content. The night never ends in Ebisu Yokocho.

Yelp
Freagin awesome. The little sommelier wine booth was great. The owner is a true professional. We also went to the skewer place near one of the entrances at the end and got highballs, beer, and just asked them to give us whatever they recommend. tasty, trendy, and bumpin! Cool experience!

Yelp
There's so many different places to try. We ate at 4 places - oden, motsunabe, yakitori and gyu-tan. It's so cheap and if you are drinker - you'll wind up drinking bottles of shochu.

Yelp
This place is like a scaled down and slightly friendlier version of what you will find in the Golden Gai alley way bars in Shinjuku. Definitely a cool vibe and a lot of options to choose from. Glad I checked it out.

Yelp
Ordered fried oysters with a beef and mushroom side and a water from the restaurant at the end of the yokocho. Got the side quickly but after 45 minutes I still didn't get the oysters despite the restaurant being empty. When I finally asked for the check I was charged full price for the meal and ¥300 for the water. Don't know about the other restaurants, but avoid this one. I picked it cause it was the only one that wasn't packed and now I know why.
