We had the most special day for our wedding in December in the Eccles hotels. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting.|The incredible christmas decorations and the charming staff made it a memorable visit for all our guests ,with many saying they would have to visit the hotel again.|The food lived to all our expectations with the dessert trio being a crowd favourite. |However without Mags it truly wouldn’t have been possible.|From the ceremony decorations to the flower arrangement she showed amazing attention to detail and was always a step ahead.|She was extremely professional during all stages of the planning and was on hand throughout the wedding day.|Her easy going nature and sense of humour made it such an enjoyable experience |We would highly recommend both mags and the Eccles hotel to all of our family and friends.

We had, without doubt, the most magical day of our lives in October when we celebrated our wedding in the Eccles Hotel in Glengarriff. Since the day we met with the wedding co-ordinator Mags, we knew we were in safe hands. She is the warmest person you'll meet and we very much felt part of the Eccles family during our wedding planning and on our special day. The staff are A1, super professional but warm and friendly at the same time. Many of our guests commented on the intimate family vibe of the hotel, it's rare to get that today in a hotel of this size and prestige. The interior of the Eccles is old world and bursting with charm, I challenge anyone to not fall in love with it. Since our wedding this year, we have visited a few times for lunch, to use the spa, and to bump into the lovely people that work in the hotel. Mags, you are one in a million, thank you for being so warm, so welcoming, and for surpassing our wildest dreams of how good our wedding would be!

The staff are all outstanding & our meal was superb.|We will always highly recommend the Eccles Hotel.

As soon as we walked into Eccles Hotel we knew it was where we wanted to hold our wedding. The hotel is beautiful, a lovely mix of tradition and modern style, with a fantastic view over Bantry Bay. The reception space was ideal as you could make it as big or small as you wanted to, and there were lots of different areas for the guests to spend time in.||The wedding planning couldn’t have been smoother, thanks to the wedding coordinator Mags who was so helpful, approachable, and friendly throughout. She organised a fantastic menu tasting for us and met us several times in the run up to the day. Nothing was an issue for her and we could contact her any time. It felt like she was as excited and interested in our wedding as we were; she made the whole process so special. All of our guests commented on how helpful and friendly she was on the wedding day. She had so much to manage and yet did everything with a smile and grace, she even found the time to check in with guests individually to see how they were and to look after the bridal party exceptionally well.||Our wedding weekend was amazing and it would not have been the same if we were in any venue other than Eccles. We were looked after like family for the whole weekend and were genuinely sad leaving. The staff went above and beyond for every guest, every detail was considered, the food and decorations were beautiful, and the service was outstanding. Thank you to Mags and all of the Eccles team for giving us such a fabulous experience.

We had our wedding at the Eccles in October. We loved the Eccles from the first time we visited. It had an ambiance that at once seemed specifically for us, while also timeless and eternal. We were looking for a venue with old-world, maritime, and literary vibes. The Eccles is all that, while still being warm and grounded. Mags, Eddie, and all the team at the Eccles went above an beyond for us at every stage of the process. Booking was easy, they helped with ideas for the day, and accommodated all the ideas we had. The day itself was relaxed and went smoothly. There is nothing about the day that we would change looking back on it, and it all felt effortless at the time. I could not imagine a better venue or group of people to work with. We owe them the most special day of our lives (thus far).||We also can't say enough about the venue and Mags. In the months leading up to the wedding, Mags was in touch regularly and quickly responded to any questions. She really put us at ease in the planning stage and throughout the day. She made us feel so special on the day. Her experience and passion were invaluable, and we can't thank her enough. The guests at the wedding all commented on the views from the venue, the food (which was amazing), and how well they were looked after throughout the day.

We honestly couldn’t say enough nice things about having our wedding at the Eccles on 21 September. From the very beginning when we came to visit it felt like a home from home. The cosy fire lighting in the reception, the beautiful views from the bar, Island walk and the ballroom made it stand out in an amazing way from other venues but the thing that really set it apart was the people. Firstly Marie who had originally showed us around and booked us in, then Mags, our very own wedding mammy, who I’ll talk more about later, to every other member of staff, Mary and Sandra at reception, Chef Eddie, Marius who was just the sweetest in helping with anything we needed, Angie and Sheila at breakfast and literally every single staff member we encountered were warm, kind and seemed genuinely happy to be a part of our day which made it so special. I’ve never gotten so many hugs from staff members leaving a hotel before and I doubt I ever will!||The food was incredible and the attention to detail especially when it came to dietary requirements was second to none. Our guests raved about the food and for two families of big eaters that’s not an easy thing to do! I have to give a special mention to the breakfasts also as these were a big hit and with the warmth and kindness of Angie and Sheila it felt like eating with family.||I couldn’t possibly put into words how much easier and more fun Mags made the day. She is truly a master at her craft and frankly I’m not sure how anyone gets married without her. Nothing was ever a problem for her, no matter what the request but more importantly she steered us towards decisions and little touches we would never have considered but that made the day all the ore special. The confidence she gave us in knowing she had the day well in hand allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves without once worrying that things weren’t going to go as planned. Her genuine enthusiasm for all things wedding related and her familiarity with all of our suppliers made us so sure we were in good hands.||Lastly, I just want to mention the hotel itself. The rooms were gorgeous with amazing sea views, impeccably clean and very comfortable. A lot of our guests stayed the night before the wedding also and it was their first time in West Cork and they can’t wait to come back. On the night of the wedding a member of staff even dropped two of our guests home to save them getting a taxi and if that isn’t excellent service I don’t know what is. We’re counting down the days before we come back and an annual trip to the Eccles at least is now not so much a wish as a necessity! Thank you all so much for making our wedding such a relaxed, happy and special day!

We got married in the wonderful Eccles hotel on Friday 1st November 2024. |From the moment we walked into the reception area 1 year previous, we knew it was the hotel for us and our big day. ||The fantastic service we received from every member of the staff began there and continued to the end. The team really did make us feel special and made the whole process so easy and relaxed. ||We are most grateful to have had Mags Donovan Daly as the co-ordinator. Her work ethic is unparalleled and this was matched with a level of care that could be described as motherly and an attention to detail that would be continuously seen.||The food that we first tried at the tasting day gave us one thing to think about in that there were so many delicious options. We really enjoyed the food on the day and have received so many compliments on it from guests since the big day. ||The bridal suite needs to be seen to be appreciated. There are no words. ||With the hotel being the oldest purpose built in all of Ireland, there is a real sense of character. While there is that vintage feel to everything, there is no compromise on the fresh and clean feel throughout. The reception area was bright and sociable and the wedding room itself, which we used for both the ceremony and the meal, was the most beautiful. The team did an excellent job decorating it for the ceremony and the backdrop of the bay was stunning. After the ceremony, the room was flipped ready for the main meal in no time and everything continued to run smoothly. ||We can't imagine a better day, we are so grateful for Mags, the entire team and the hotel itself. We would highly recommend this venue and team if you are considering for your wedding day. ||Thanks again to all of the staff at the Eccles Hotel. We cannot wait to return.

From the moment we stepped into Eccles and toured the venue for our wedding we were treated like family. The staff were inviting and kind and at the same time polished and professional. Every single person there made us feel like we were cared for and doted on during our wedding weekend. This was not just our experience but everyone who came to the wedding. Even now, months after our wedding, our guests are gushing about the staff, often calling them by their names because that's how memorable each of them were. Dylan, the hotel manager, walked us through our dinner menu and felt like a good friend by the time the wedding came, we even saw him at the bar during our day two! Grainne served us breakfast every morning and then when our photographer could not stay for our dinner ceremony she stepped in to take photos for us. The night manager packed some of our guests' breakfast for their long journey back to Dublin early in the morning after the wedding. Mags, our wedding coordinator was with us every step of the way throughout the planning process and then the day of the wedding. We can't convey the competence, care, calm and resourcefulness that this woman oozes. It was like planning our wedding with our own fairy godmother. She was always available for a phone call or quick with an email if you had anything on your mind that you wanted to talk through. Anything you need she waves a wand, she really is magic. Between our photographer not being able to stay for the full night to the wedding ceremony signer cancelling due to illness the day before, somehow Mags was able to put us at ease during mishaps and managed to find amazing solutions to any problem that arose!||We can’t write a review without mentioning Eddie the chef, all his staff and the amazing food we had through the week from the lovely breakfast spread each morning, the delicious curry we treated 100+ of our guest to the night before, the finger food and finally the amazing dinner course was just incredible and again we received so much great feedback from our guests as well.||Having the spa on site was a great perk, we were able to celebrate with our bridal party by relaxing by the hot tub, sauna and cold plunge and many of our guests made use of the services as well. The staff at the spa were so accommodating and friendly throughout.||When we explain the day of our wedding to people it sounds like a fairytale. Mags helped us coordinate getting our pictures done on Garnish Island, which made the day even more special. The sun was shining all day, there were two swans in the bay and a rainbow overhead as we mingled with everyone for our cocktail hour. The windows in the ballroom made our ceremony feel so bright and beautiful, it truly exceeded any expectation we could've dreamt up. The bar staff seemed to be having as much fun as us throughout the night and stayed up with us until the bitter end. Being able to book out the whole hotel for the weekend made the experience all the more special, We truly could go on and on about our experience at Eccles. We can't express enough gratitude for the gift of the weekend we had. We will be back again and again to reminisce about it. Thank you to everyone at Eccles who gave us this gift of an experience, we deeply appreciate you, especially you Mama Mags!

Yelp
We didn't stay here but enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The interior is quite nice. We were in the main dining room which is a little fancy but it was totally acceptable to be casually dressed, as we were and all the other diners. The food was fresh and well prepared and creatively presented. The desserts were particularly wonderful! The staff was friendly. Great meal!

Yelp
Ignore the old reviews; this hotel is under new ownership and is being completely revamped. The renovation is not quite done but there are improvements everywhere. The hotel sits right on the Glengariff harbor; the front-facing rooms all have wonderful views. The rooms are good-sized but perhaps a little spartan. Eccles has recently opened a spa with three treatment rooms and a so-called relaxation room overlooking Bantry Bay. Treat yourself! You can enjoy a drink or a snack on the front porch or a casual dinner in the Harbor Bar. But go to dinner at Garinish Restaurant -- *especially* if Eddie Attwell is around. Eddie is a superstar in the garden and in the kitchen but he's low-key about his accolades. Better yet, he's over-the-top friendly and fun to chat with. We've been lucky enough to have 7 or 8 different dishes that Eddie prepared, including several that weren't on the menu. All were memorable. One of my favorites was a simple but extraordinary beetroot salad with creamy Irish blue cheese. I enjoyed my first ever buckwheat risotto. And the desserts! The brownie made with a beer stout -- more please. It's too bad that Eddie is 5000 miles away. I'd be eating there all of the time.

Yelp
This is a lovely old hotel looking right out onto Glengarriff harbour. The hotel has been refurbished nicely with furniture that is modern but that still gives a nod to the age of the hotel in a tasteful way. This is a great hotel for a wedding there is a great room to use as the wedding venue, it has lots of light and gorgeous views out onto the water. Other than that the food is good, the service is friendly and efficient and attention to detail is as you would hope for, for a wedding. You can come in here for food other than just for a wedding of course, there is a great pub food menu which is great after a few drinks, its good before the drinks too but you know what i mean! I like the way that you can sit outside the hotel on a terrace type thing that covers the front of the hotel, you get a real summer feeling when all he hanging baskets are out and there are lots of people floating around enjoying themselves.

Yelp
Old buildings often have charm and character. Others are run down and need to be completely renovated. While there are some features that should be saved, the Glengarriff Eccles Hotel is one of the latter. There is a strong whiff of rodent throughout the hotel, and while it isn't the fault of the staff (who are quite friendly), the owners have obviously been putting off repairs, and it shows.

Yelp
Good food - but really lovey staff! This has been recently taken over by new owners - and you can tell. great place to stop; next time will try and stay!
