Had our wedding reception in Eccles Hotel last year and I must say that nothing was ever an issue since the very beginning of the planning stages. Food and beverage manager Dylan was very responsive and helpful all the way. He even managed to obtain an alcoholic drink that they don’t usually stock so that I can have my favourite cocktail on our wedding day! Wedding coordinator Mags made sure everything was taken care of. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. All wedding guests were served food at the same time. Food was gorgeous from starters to mains to desserts. All ingredients are sourced locally and some grown in their own garden too. They looked after us really well and i’m forever grateful. Came back for a visit 12months after and recognised a few of the staff. It was like catching up with old friends. ❤️

Very comfortable & cosy room & unsuited toilet & shower. Very organised set up in that the staff ask what time you want to attend for breakfast & dinner within a certain time frame.|The breakfast was excellent in particular, the full Irish breakfast. Good choice for dinner, dessert & starters & nice wine selection & 3 course meal served within a good timeframe. Dining & breakfast staff were very nice & polite. |Both myself & my mum enjoyed the outside Thermal Garden experience in the nice May sunshine & the complimentary prosecco. |The girls working in the spa were very nice, friendly, professional & helpful. |We both enjoyed the massage.|Great views of the bay from our room & the town is within walking distance.|Many tourist attractions around the hotel such as Garnish Island with access to the boat across from the hotel within walking distance - boats leave for the island every half hour.|Garnish Island is beautiful & well worth a visit! |On the boat trip over & back to Garnish Island, the boat slows to show the seals on their rocky island, which is a beautiful sight! |The Italian Garden & flowers are beautiful in particular rhododendrons. Also there is a coffee shop on the island. Bryce House is nice also.|The Bamboo Gardens are within walking distance from the hotel with exotic gardens.|Beautiful drive to the mountains known as Healy's Pass is nearby & well worth a visit.|The Ring of Beara is also very scenic and nearby.

We had an Anniversary dinner with 20 guests in mid-June. All the arrangements were made with Dylan, the Operations Manager, by phone and email. He was unfailingly patient, courteous and attentive to detail. |At the dinner, all the staff were pleasant and friendly, which added to the atmosphere of the occasion. They served lovely food, very efficiently. |The only time there was confusion was in the bar before dinner, where all 20 of us couldn't sit down as a group, so it was difficult to arrange the tab. We're looking forward to visiting the Eccles during next year's holiday, as regular diners.

We had the most fabulous few days here for our Wedding in May. The locality, the hotel, the service and all the staff here were wonderful. Mags is the wedding coordinator here and she was just amazing. From start to finish, I felt so at ease and comfortable and nothing that we both asked was too much trouble and Mags did it with such pleasure. As we have noted since, we felt 'at home' here with our families and each of the staff did their best to cater to a large group of us over a few days. Mags gave such attention to detail in everything she did for our wedding. I could not recommend here more for your special day and especially Mags. She was a star and we cannot wait to visit here again soon.

We were looking for a night away, just to relax and catch up. Used an offer from Rory's Travel Club to stay at Eccles.||Lovely room with a great view over the bay. Comfortable beds. Nice shower, but very limited products, only one small shower gel for a twin room! The products were lovely. Other thing was the position or size of the wash basin, felt we were squeezing past it all the time - it was very big and quite close to the door. But overall a lovely room.||The staff were just lovely. We wanted something to eat, found the cafe-bar and were waiting to catch the eye of the lady behind the bar, when someone else came over to us and when he heard we wanted lunch, explained it wasn't served there and walked us to the dining room - just a nice touch. Lunch was very nice and relaxed and we took a drink out onto the deck afterwards and sat there for ages. it felt like nothing was too much trouble when we asked.||We had dinner that evening and it was very good. Asked about the beef as I don't like to see any pink in my meat and ordered it once we'd agreed on that - and it came out perfect and was lovely. Friend wasn't quite as lucky and ordered steak to be well done, but not burnt - but it was medium-rare. We explained that and it was immediately taken away with apologies and a fresh steak cooked - in some ways to her horror as she'd eaten a few bits and felt she'd never manage another full one - but it was so delicious that she did. By now the waiter from lunch time remembered us and our coffee preferences - which did make us feel special!||After dinner brandy in the bar and it was really nice and relaxed there. ||Good night's sleep. Room slightly warmer than we'd have liked, but it was middle of June.||Breakfast was really good. Mix of buffet and cooked options. All really good.||Checkin and checkout were both friendly and easy. ||Highly recommend a stay here - just good old fashioned hospitality.

We were fortunate enough to stay in the Yeats Suite. Beautiful room with a fantastic balcony and view. The hotel has a lovely old world charm. The food was fantastic. However, the best thing about our stay was the staff. Incredibly friendly and made you feel right at home. Will be back next time we are down in West Cork.

Has not changed much in 35 years. Food was good. Room was small, adequate. Before dinner we had drinks in bar. While there 4 people walked away due to service, bar manager just left it happen, he was serving but ignored these 2 couples. He was filling drinks would have been easy for him to acknowledge them and say he would be a few minutes. Superb location.

The hotel was in a great location, accessible to everywhere we wished to visit. First impressions somewhat underwhelming but generally it was a decent experience. That being said, we had this in mind as a potential wedding venue but a definite no now. I’m not sure 4 stars is an accurate rating One staff member (blond, young ish/ middle aged) was incredibly brusque and did cause us to wonder how she could have ended up in a customer facing role. On arriving slightly earlier than planned, her way of greeting was “What do you want?”, which is quite the opposite of what you would expect. I will say that every other member of staff was wonderful but the first impression was already made. In a place where strangers say good morning and ask how you are, you expect a simple hello when checking in The dining area was lovely and you can see the investment that’s been put into it. The continental selection is nice but my partner commented that the cooked option would have been better had the mushrooms not been cold We specifically called to book a bay view room. Upon checking in we were disappointed to find that the window glazing had blown so the view we were so looking forward to was not quite as planned- the main window shown in pic. Fine if this was just the room we happened to be put in but, for something we have specifically called up to arrange and paid the additional rate for, it was poor. You shouldn’t need to but if you do book a room like this, I would suggest that you ask to be able to see out of the windows as it’s not a given That being said, the room was fine. Bathroom was beautiful, again you can tell investment has been put into it. We found the bed comfy. Thanks for a good couple of days Lots of good hotels in Killarney if looking for an alternative and happy to drive a bit further out

Yelp
We didn't stay here but enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The interior is quite nice. We were in the main dining room which is a little fancy but it was totally acceptable to be casually dressed, as we were and all the other diners. The food was fresh and well prepared and creatively presented. The desserts were particularly wonderful! The staff was friendly. Great meal!

Yelp
Ignore the old reviews; this hotel is under new ownership and is being completely revamped. The renovation is not quite done but there are improvements everywhere. The hotel sits right on the Glengariff harbor; the front-facing rooms all have wonderful views. The rooms are good-sized but perhaps a little spartan. Eccles has recently opened a spa with three treatment rooms and a so-called relaxation room overlooking Bantry Bay. Treat yourself! You can enjoy a drink or a snack on the front porch or a casual dinner in the Harbor Bar. But go to dinner at Garinish Restaurant -- *especially* if Eddie Attwell is around. Eddie is a superstar in the garden and in the kitchen but he's low-key about his accolades. Better yet, he's over-the-top friendly and fun to chat with. We've been lucky enough to have 7 or 8 different dishes that Eddie prepared, including several that weren't on the menu. All were memorable. One of my favorites was a simple but extraordinary beetroot salad with creamy Irish blue cheese. I enjoyed my first ever buckwheat risotto. And the desserts! The brownie made with a beer stout -- more please. It's too bad that Eddie is 5000 miles away. I'd be eating there all of the time.

Yelp
This is a lovely old hotel looking right out onto Glengarriff harbour. The hotel has been refurbished nicely with furniture that is modern but that still gives a nod to the age of the hotel in a tasteful way. This is a great hotel for a wedding there is a great room to use as the wedding venue, it has lots of light and gorgeous views out onto the water. Other than that the food is good, the service is friendly and efficient and attention to detail is as you would hope for, for a wedding. You can come in here for food other than just for a wedding of course, there is a great pub food menu which is great after a few drinks, its good before the drinks too but you know what i mean! I like the way that you can sit outside the hotel on a terrace type thing that covers the front of the hotel, you get a real summer feeling when all he hanging baskets are out and there are lots of people floating around enjoying themselves.

Yelp
Old buildings often have charm and character. Others are run down and need to be completely renovated. While there are some features that should be saved, the Glengarriff Eccles Hotel is one of the latter. There is a strong whiff of rodent throughout the hotel, and while it isn't the fault of the staff (who are quite friendly), the owners have obviously been putting off repairs, and it shows.

Yelp
Good food - but really lovey staff! This has been recently taken over by new owners - and you can tell. great place to stop; next time will try and stay!
