Eco by StrandNara (Mörbylånga, Öland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Two hundred meters from the beach on the Baltic island of Öland is where you’ll find StrandNära, a lovely boutique b&b-style eco-hotel. Owners Erica & Mikael Anerhaf have transformed this 1926 residence into a picture-perfect 21st-century guest house, bringing a singular focus to the color palette and decorating it in an exemplary Scandinavian country style — crisp and clean, but far from minimal. Breakfast is a given, and dinner, a three-course modern Nordic affair, is a must as well. The village of Stora Frö is a short drive away, as is the Beijershamn nature reserve." - Tablet Hotels

The very first impression when arriving: Overwhelming. The peacefulness of this place, the wind in the leaves, the bird songs, the scent of pines... ||Then hidden under the trees a typical--Swedish, tastefully renovated house in grey and white, with a row of cute tiny villas around. And in the middle, like an atrium-like oasis: The little garden and on a wooden deck, the terrace of the restaurant – a magical spot especially for breakfast and sundowner.||My plan initially was to stay two nights at Naya. But on the 2nd morning, I just felt |I cannot leave… And although the hotel was almost fully booked, they could manage to find me room for three more nights: It gave me thus the chance to try three different in the "Garden category" (so not the ones in the main building): Eagle Nest, Bird Nest and the Cabin (or "Stugan") with shared bathroom. ||The rooms are in the same esthetic vein as the hotel - and very Swedish: Tasteful, not luxurious or ostentatious, spacious and bright with decent colours. With, in plus, a thoughtful attention to details and comfort: Very good bedding, well-thought bathrooms, impeccable cleanliness. Each room has a private loggia at the back side – either onto the quiet rewilded garden or onto the green hedge hiding the parking. The Cabin is smaller and simpler, therefore cheaper, but still cozy - not “basic” as I expected - and set aside, so with a bit of green privacy around (especially no 201).||The breakfast is absolutely amazing – the choice, the presentation, the quality – with some highlights like the Öland cookies, the home-baked bread or the “Björnbär rårörda”!! (raw-stirred blackberries Swedish way). As for the restaurant, the wine list is impressive and the food outstanding – both on the lounge- and on the gastronomic menus - creative and beautifully presented with fair prices for high quality. My only disappointment was that the choice of dishes is a bit limited. But I heard it was due to a logistic issue - as the hotel Naya opened recently - and that this point should be improved soon. ||There is anyway a customer-friendly alternative until then and beyond: A separate kitchen for all hotel-guests, not the kind like at a youth hostel: A lovely one like in a summer cottage, with all amenities including two huge fridges/ freezers to store its own food and with a sweet dining room and terrace just beside.||But the cherry on the cake, actually the real heart of Naya is the service: The whole staff is extremely - and genuinely - friendly, helpful, customer-oriented. With a special Thanks from me to Åsa and Christine.||Naya Retreat is a pure gem hidden in beautiful Öland.

A beautiful and very charming hotel with friendly and service-minded staff. The room was elegantly decorated in a Nordic style, with a lovely bed and a spacious, comfortable bathroom. The breakfast deserves special mention! Delicious, nourishing, and beautifully presented. We stayed for 3 nights and would gladly have stayed a whole week.

Simply lovely place. The hosts are extremely nice people, the rooms are stylish and cosy, and the breakfast buffet is simply the best I've ever seen - nothing short of a piece of art. Thank you Erica and Mikael! All the best to you guys.

We felt like it was so wholesome & healthy staying in this hotel. Close by to the beach. The ambiance is super fresh and unique. Kitchen is sustainable. Breakfast has ecologic and organic options. I had to leave earlier so they arranged a packed to-go breakfast for me. Loved it. ||We watched the sunset by the beach. I recommend you using anti-mosquito lotion/spray. We ended up with so much mosquito bites. ||Anyway, we will stay here again during the summer. Nice experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Eco by Strandnära, a small hotel situated in a small town away from the usual tourist hotspots.||The hotel and the rooms are nicely decorated and well maintained. Our room was a larger room in the garden annex, and it was perfect. Only thing missing was a small fridge for cold drinks, however there is a shared kitchen with all facilities including several fridges for your stuff, so really not a problem at all.||Breakfast is included and it is great. You can have your meals outside on one of the terraces and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We also had dinner at the hotel which you need to pre-book, and it was excellent. Staff is excellent, relaxed and smiling. ||Please note that the hotel is not right at the beach, but the local beach is reached easily in a few minutes by walking through a little forest in front of the hotel. It is not exactly a sandy beach though, but it is easy to take a swim thanks to a bathing pier. The walk along the coastline in front of the hotel is beautiful and we enjoyed the sunsets here.||The weather was absolutely perfect which of course added to the holiday feeling. Öland is a beautiful island with lots of nice places to visit and we would definitely love to come back to Strandnära again.

Beautiful rooms, incredibly nice people and the best breakfast I‘ve ever had in a hotel. Very clean without being sterile and family friendly as well. 10/10

We stayed here for two nights and loved it. The room (we booked one with a private bathroom) was spacious, well decorated, and quiet. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious; we are so glad we booked dinner both nights we stayed there! Erica is a gracious host, and the waitstaff is also lovely. Other reviewers have noted that the hotel is further afield, but if you have a car, we found it close to most of what we wanted to explore. It is a 200 meter walk to a nice trail along the coast, and most of the attractions in the southern part of the island are a 15-20 minute drive away. ||||We also appreciate the approach they have taken to hygiene in these coronavirus times. It was a nice balance between safe and personable. For example, breakfast service is served at the table instead of a buffet, and tables for lunch and dinner are further apart. It eased our concerns about travel as countries emerge from lockdown.||||All in all, highly recommended!

The best B&B we have ever been to. The staff, the room and the food was amazing. There is so much love in every single detail. Thank you for having us Eco by StrandNära! We will absolutely come back to this place!
