My first time in an eco themed hotel I love everything about it from the rain barrels and solar that heats the water - hottest shower I have ever experienced You would never know you are in downtown While inside the hotel Beautiful nature ,trees & relaxing areas all Over the grounds. Housekeeping is the best ,my room is immaculate everyday they visit. Love the recycling and composting done on site. As an English speaker the hotel ensures you understand the rules. I would recommend a stay here to everyone!!

An absolute delight to stay here. It truly captures the essence of Cancun. It was walking distance to some of the night markets and street food options in Cancun downtown. The place was pretty old but had an amazing cozy vibe which felt very nice. Loved how the plants and trees were part of the enclosed space. It’s definitely a great option for someone looking to have a relaxed time. The place was not noisy at all. There as some services that are not offered like regular hotels, but that’s very well mentioned while booking so no complaints at all. The receptionist’s were super helpful with suggestion places to visit, for dinner and also helped us with booking taxi at the expected rate whenever needed. Would definitely stay here if we get a chance again. It was worth the money for sure.

We booked this hotel for a night in November at the end of a lovely Yucatan vacation. However, when we arrived, we were extremely disappointed. We got a room on the ground floor towards the noisy street in a corner of the property. It was very moist inside, the furniture was old and felt run-down, there were insects, the tiny windows left nearly no daylight inside and the door didn’t close properly, so it did not feel safe. The pool was not clean and the outside area was also very moist with a lot of mosquitoes. We decided to leave and stay at another hotel as we did not want to end our vacation like this. I can imagine that the rooms in the other buildings on the higher floors are quite nice and if you come on a perfectly sunny day, the garden could feel like a little oasis. If you are sleeping here, make sure not to get a room on the ground floor towards the street - it definitely needs a modernisation and is absolutely not worth the money.

Refer to my previous review on Aloft Cancun Hotel Zone. That was the reason why I moved to this hotel in downtown CancunI was more than happy to be here. The hotel itself looked kitschy with some concrete human statues at the entrance. The pool was small (you can enjoy swimming at the beach though). But overall, the vibes was homey! My booking came with free breakfast. The receptionist - Jessica - was very welcoming. She's competent speaking in English and would explain everything you need to know upon check in. She even gave me a printed map of what I can see and do around downtown Cancun. Room was ok, large room with a kitchenette and a proper sink. There's smart TV in the room with Netflix and YouTube.Location wise, it's 5 minutes to Soriana Supermarket, and then cross the road (Avenida Tulum) from Soriana and you're at the ADO Bus Terminal to the airport. You can also take bus R1 on Avenida Tulum to the Hotel Zone. There's a Poke shop next door and a burger (if you are sick of Mexican food). It's 15 mins walk to Mercado 23 (where the locals shop) and you can buy souvenirs way cheaper. You can book Uber and you'd be picked up in front of the hotel.I will definitely come back to this hotel when I visit Cancun in the future.

Our room had no hot water throughout our stay, and an alternative room offered had the same issue. Later, our room flooded due to a maintenance error, and we had to clean it ourselves at 9 pm with no staff available to do the job. Despite promises, the hotel failed to provide compensation, leaving Booking.com to resolve it weeks later for less than agreed. Overall, a disappointing experience considering the cost. I would NOT stay here again.

A great little hideaway in the center of Cancún. Easy walking distance to many restaurants and shops, the ADO bus station, and a supermarket. Although we were right in the city center, inside the hotel feels very peaceful and quite, surrounded by lovely vegetation.

Cozy, but fluctuating, low, and temperature changing shower water made it almost impossible to shower. Maintenance changed the shower head but it still didn't fix the 5 day stay issue. Sadly, won't be returning here.

We stayed one night in this hotel due to flight delay and after our family vacation in Riviera Maya.||This hotel is pretty good considering price, location and what they offer.||The room is a bit outdated but it was clean and comfortable. Even though we were in the city and with windows facing the street, we still had a quiet Sunday night. Bed was more comfortable than the one in the resort we stayed. So, go figure.||The internet was spotty but it more or less worked for what we needed. ||The breakfast was included with our stay and it was delicious. ||The outdoor area was beautiful and unique. They have huge trees, plants everywhere and a small pool and hottub. There was a hammock if you wanted to relax. It felt like an oasis in the middle of the city. ||Location was great for us. Everything is close by. ||Overall it was a great experience.

Yelp
We stayed at Hotel El Rey del Caribe for one night on the night we got into Cancun. We were set to bus to Valladolid the next day so I wanted to find a hotel close to the bus station. I don't think you can find a closer hotel than El Rel del Caribe. It is a slightly annoying walk if you have a suitcase or two, since there isn't really a sidewalk and therefore the road is a bit bumpy and sometimes dangerous. Just be vigilant to oncoming cars and you should be fine. The hotel is gated so you have to ring a bell to be let in. Inside the hotel is indeed a jungle oasis. So many lush plants in the courtyard with a small pool, a hammock, and patios for the ground floor rooms. The room itself is pretty basic but clean. There is an AC unit in the room as well as a ceiling fan. You can't leave the AC on if you're not in the room, but it cools down pretty quickly. There is a TV with Netflix, a small kitchenette, and dining table set. Breakfast is included and is very charming. You can choose an entree (ex: omelette, huevos rancheros, french toast, etc) and coffee/tea, orange juice, and fresh fruit are included.

Yelp
Location location - for authentic Mexican vacation. 10/10 atmosphere with stucco walls, exotic plants everywhere, premium easy access to restaurants, grocery store, bus station. 80 cents each for bus to Hotel Zone beaches. 5 minute walk to airport bus. Chose quesadillas for included breakfast every day but much more on the menu. Expedia got us in there for about $100 U.S. per day.

Yelp
Overall, this is a great hotel at a great price in the heart of Cancun. While the amenities and rooms are a mild 4 stars, the customer service makes this a 5 star review. TLDR; hotel is beautiful, clean, has plenty of amenities and staff is excellent. Only flaw is transportation if you plan on taking tour buses Transportation: 3/5 While there is an ADO station nearby, its crowded and has very limited times post Covid. You'll find better luck on the R-1/R-2 buses to travel to the hotel zone going southwest down Ave. Tulum. For travel outside Cancun, DO NOT trust the tour buses when they say they will pick you up at your hotel; they only do that for hotel zones passengers. If you do not feel comfortable taking city buses , bargaining with taxis, or renting a car, this is not the hotel for you. Atmosphere: 6/5 Absolutely beautiful to wake up and to see the vegetation in the courtyard with the sunlight trickling through. Plenty of birds and lizards going about. It's a very authentic feel you won't get anywhere else in another hotel. Amenities: 4/5 Breakfast included, yoga classes, spa (extra $), full sized beds, TV, fridge, camping stove burners and AC (air conditioning). TV and fridge did not work. For AC, 3.5/5 this is an eco hotel, so the AC is not crazy and will not freeze your room. But given the high temps in Mexico, you will be glad to have it. There is also a high speed fan that helps a ton. Note that your room key is connected to the AC, so when you leave the AC will turn off. For breakfast, 4/5 they have a simple but tasty breakfast, hot cakes, fruit, tea, etc. I would note to eat early because they cut up the fruit early and leave it out on top of the coolers in the kitchen. The fruit will be warm if you wake up late. Cleanliness 5/5 The beds were made every morning and everything was very clean upon arrival. Nothing better after a long day of travel than laying in fresh sheets Customer Service 5/5 Unfortunately, due to Covid, our original reservation could not be made (non refundable). However the owner Eduardo was very nice and called internationally to check in and granted us 3/5 days to book for another time. On arrival, staff was always friendly and helpful. Even the security guard got us forks for takeout! Overall was very impressed.

Yelp
El Rey del Caribe is an excellent hotel. I can not say enough good things about this place. We booked our reservation thru booking.com. I know prices fluctuate, but for a weeks worth with breakfast included it came out to $515.00 U.S. dollars for two. Customer service has been wonderful since the beginning. We had some questions thru email before we got here and they always responded. You can even set up transportation from the airport to here and back ahead of time through the hotel. Once we were at the hotel the manager also helped us schedule our covid tests so we could fly back to the US. That process was simple and yes the company they contract with accepts c/c if needed. The location is right downtown with everything you will need and not to far from all the popular spots. Once you learn to use the affordable taxi system all the popular beaches and Alamar ferries are only a few pesos away. We had no problems stepping outside and waving a taxi down. They constantly roam the areas. There are plenty of restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores and downtown all within walking distance. Study the locals and learn how to cross the streets. Now back to the hotel. If you are looking for that local downtown experience this is the place. They do a phenomenal job keeping everything clean and the hotel is just surrounded by the local vegetation. Local wildlife also pay their visits from time to time. We had a honey badger drop by during our stay and plethora of local birds. Every morning you will also wake up to a good breakfast. Nothing fancy, just the perfect amount to get you out and about. Hot cakes, cereal, American egg breakfast, red chilaciles and a few other items were part of your options. Accompanied by fruit, coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Very good breakfast. Overall great place and we will be back.

Yelp
Im back!!! I love this place. Last time I came here, they were doing renovations . They done took and upgraded this eco-friendly, tropical gem. They have massages w/aromatherapy, music and natural treatments ( muds, fruit , milk and honey) . I'm hoping to catch the yoga class in the a.m. #Namaste

Yelp
Spent three nights here in July. The rooms are a decent sized, no drawers for your clothes, just hangers in a closet area. The rooms have a fridge which is very handy. There's also a two burner electrical unit and a sink which I didn't use. AC worked ok. The rooms do not have working safes. I left my stuff (iPad, dollars etc) and it was fine. As you can see from all the pictures others have posted, the layout is quite lush. Easy to just hang out by the pool and enjoy the surroundings. You are very close to the bus station and lots of restaurants. Mu Burger is next door, mercado 23 is a 10 minute walk, a Soriana (grocery) is just a few blocks away to pick up some snacks, beer, water and tequila. Trendy Nader street with many restaurants is just across the street. The location of this hotel is just perfect. I would not hesitate to stay again.

Yelp
Tranquil in the heart of Cancun. The breakfast is free and also amazing. I love that this place is authentic with great location. It is neat the city and beaches. This place is beyond relaxing with the pool and yoga. Would definitely recommend to those tourist who are not into the Vegas scene of the hotel district.

Yelp
My family and I stayed here for the first week of April in 2018. I remember wanting so badly to stay at one of the large resorts in the hotel zone to remind me of my time back during spring break in college. Essentially, the hotel zone in Cancun is as luxurious as you'd want it to be, but commercialized enough to not have even left the US or Europe. Let me tell you that staying at El Rey del Caribe and staying at a resort in Cancun are two entirely different worlds. El Rey is juxtaposed right beside the hotel zone, but could be no more different than what you'd find there. My family and I fell in love with this place due to how similar it is to the countryside in India where I spent most of my summers. You enter the front gate into the green, lush expanse of trees, flowers, and small fountains surrounding you. Every morning, a complimentary and fresh Mexican breakfast is served in a tiny cabana of sorts. You can explore the hotel's terrace and different floors during your stay and always find something new. The air conditioning is limited (to be eco-friendly) in your room, but still provides enough air to cool you down. What I think I enjoyed most about our stay is how happy all of the staff seems to be here. It's like taking a walk over to where life is simpler, where everyone tends to the greenery, and where you can relax in pure tranquility.

Yelp
Very well located, fantastic customer service, charming natural environment full of exotic plants and an intimate pool. The rooms are very clean and they have their own kitchenette. What a great place to spend a relaxing time! And the best plus: away from tourists! This truly is Mexico! Loved it!

Yelp
First off the map location is completely off. It is just to the east of the big traffic circle (glorieta heroes nacional). Besides that this is a lovely island of jungle in an ever expanding city. It is not super fancy but it is very comfortable and a bargain. A great stop over too and from the airport when traveling somewhere else. You won't find the typical drunken tourists here. It's not an all inclusive beach resort. It is located in the real heart of cancun (as real as cancun can be). The restraint only serves breakfast which is simple but tasty. The pool is tiny and the hot tub was dry the Internet is hit and miss but these are all to be expected when traveling.

Yelp
This was an amazing final hotel to spend the last night of my Mexican trip in. Very courteous helpful staff, beautiful design and layout, and cozy private rooms that were very comfortable. Highly recommend, and they're close to everything else in the city and provide a pool and parking right outside the front door. 5 stars for sure

Yelp
Overall a very convenient stay. Hotel is a block or two from the ADO station. $200 pesos to take a cab from here to the airport. Close to the supermarket for easy consumption of cheap cervesas (oh heyyyyy sol). Close to park de palapas where at night it gets REALLY festive. Free wifi. Refrigerator and a mini kitchen and free breakfast everyday wins! The only con is the concierge lady who will try to rip you off. She called a taxi for us, we chose not to use it after she called, asked her to cancel (she said no) and she even had the audacity to tell us we couldn't use the other taxi we flagged down AND claimed we had to pay a "service fee" for her calling the taxi for us. Ridiculous! Don't ask the concierge woman for help, lesson learned. I regret even tipping her for her help, but at that point I was extremely uncomfortable and wanted to get the heck out of there. Need to check the statement now, for fear she charged us something on our credit card. Not cool. Id rate the stay here a solid 4 stars but damn, bad service really leaves a bad taste in my experience.

Yelp
I needed an inexpensive hotel to wait out the east coast snowstorm. El Rey.Caribe (that we luckily found on Priceline) exceeded all of my expectations!! If you want a beach front hotel and if you only want to meet Mexicans who are serving you a margarita don't stay here. If you don't want to spend hundreds/night, don't mind a few inexpensive cab rides and want to meet the most lovely staff and some real Mexicans el caribe is a treasure. Not to mention the fabulous included breakfast!

Sumeet D.

Yelp
Location: ideal for a commute into downtown cancun from where you could take the playa express to playa del carmen or the R1 to the hotel zone. Hotel: My only gripe with this hotel is the issue with hot water. I'm not sure if it's only limited to this hotel but their version of hot water would translate to a cold shower else where. The hotel staff were unable to address the issue.

Angela R.

Yelp
We chose this hotel based on suggestion by the Moon Handbook as a moderately priced, clean and comfortable hotel near the ADO bus station, and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone needing exactly that. Lives up to its name as an eco friendly hotel. The staff went out of their way to help - arranged for a taxi to the airport at 5am and had it there waiting for us. Our room was fresh, simple and comfortably appointed, with AC. Lots of hot water. Was a very restful night before a long day of travel back home.
