I arrived around 11am on a Tuesday morning with my teen sons. We were visiting from NC. Security is tight! You have to press intercom and talk to guard before you can even get in, which is fair considering it’s one of the 12 federal reserve banks. Once inside, They take your ID (over 18) and then metal detector. After security check, you’re met at front desk with a worker who explains the process. We engaged in small talk before telling us how it works. There, you can get a map as well. This staff person was very friendly! The guards we interacted with were also friendly. We watched two brief shows before starting. The museum is VERY interactive and informative. It is great for kids and teens to learn how things work. For me, it was good to see how my kids thought about topics and their knowledge which told me what I needed to work on and educate them about. You’re able to lift (or try to lift) up a real gold bar! At the end, there is a gift shop. We did the scavenger hunt and received a stress reliever gold bar. They have free mini bags of shredded money too. Overall, I would highly recommend!

A great interactive museum to learn about economy and its principles. This museum is housed in the Federal reserve building of St Louis. Such a beautiful architecture and marble building. Entrance to the building is highly secured yet security is welcoming and greets you with a smile. The museum itself is very interactive an engages visitors of all ages. There is principles of economy such as value of currency and its circulation, aspects of commodities purchases (including stock market). We had a blast attempting to lift up an actual gold bar. I noticed kids laughing and being highly competitive in the buy and sell commodity interactive exhibit. The curators of this museum did a really good job. A rather small souvenir shop is present at the end of your tour of the museum. Even better, the museum is free.

As someone who works in finance and genuinely enjoys economics, I probably appreciated the displays more than most. I visited with extended family and younger kids—while the experience was a bit smaller and shorter than I expected, everyone still had a great time. There’s something here for all ages, and the exhibits are both unique and informative.

Definitely was blown away from all the miraculous information I’ve learned in this museum. Younger Kiddos enjoyed what they could. Can’t wait to come back with the older kids. So they can learn all the wonderful LIFE lessons of the economy.

Super friendly staff, from the officers that checked us in to the civilian staff, they couldn't be any friendlier. There are plenty of interesting facts to learn about the cash we carry in our pockets along with information on the Federal Reserve and the role they play in finance. Stop in it's free and interesting.

What a FREE, fun, educational and interesting museum for elementary school age through adults. Loved trying to lift the pure gold bar and playing the trading pit game (I lost...badly!). Learned a lot about bartering (hey, I wrote a book about that) and even got to use my nose on the smell exhibit. Fun to create money with my own photo on it. Great experience!
