I got a magic and a flat white. The cafe had a great vibe with street side seating. The cups were very pretty and they had friendly staff. However, the magic was not quite right. It was more sour than I expected. If you ever visit singapore, do give the original Tiong Hoe Coffee shop a try. Their magic is great and smooth.

Friendly baristas. AWESOME awesome espresso. Had a single espresso with the Kenyan SO beans. Absolutely brilliant! Then ordered a piccolo latte with the same beans, as good as the espresso 👍🏻👍🏻 Will visit again when I come back to Hobart❣️

A tiny hole in the wall that makes one great thing - coffee! Super friendly staff and great customer service; combined with really great coffee. Criterion Street is a great food and shopping escape from the boring sameness of the mall and Ecru is the perfect compliment to that experience - good different. Perfect spot to catch some morning sun and matching brew.

If you’re looking for a place to get chill with a good coffee, this place is for you. I ordered latte & batch brew, the latte was good but i love batch brew more!

Had a latte for $4.50 at a table in the shade. 10/10 coffee and lovely friendly barista. Bit chilly sitting outside even at 11am (18c but “feels like” 10c 🥶) so walked a few steps up the street to big sister Villino to have my second cup (a Magic for $5.20) in the sun. 👍

Very chic little hole in the wall coffee shop. Great service and even better coffee. I asked for nice and hot and that’s what I got. 👍

Small little coffee shop in the main part of Hobart selling pretty good coffee using Villlino beans which is just a few doors up. Reasonable prices, quick service.

Yelp
Villino's little sibling. You might even miss it strolling by, tucked away as a literal hole in the wall on Criterion St. The coffee is GOOD. Of all the myriad of coffee shops in the CBD, Ecru is the best; hands down. Probably even beats Villino for consistency (even though they share staff and the same beans). One of the few places that you can get it strong and not have it taste like bitter sludge. The wait is never long and they're super friendly. I grab one every time I'm in the CBD!

Yelp
Ecru is Villino's little takeaway brother--a hole in the wall a couple of doors down from big bro, with a few street-side seats if you really need to focus on one thing at a time (ie drinking THEN walking). Ecru's coffee is consistently great, but what makes me give it five stars is the joy of preordering. Say what? Download the Rewardle app onto your smartphone and hand some extra cash over next time you buy a coffee from Ecru, and they'll put it on your Rewardle account. Then the next time you're running late for work, roll over in bed and load up the app, order your coffee THEN jump on your bike. Grab it on your way through and keep going. That basically describes exactly what I do on those desperate days. And it's perfect. It's glorious. It's everything I've ever wanted. The coffee's delicious, too. (Only negative is that Ecru's cash-only. But throw a wad of cash at Rewardle and you won't have to worry about cash-carrying every time you need a coffee anyway.)

Yelp
Fantastic coffee. Friendly service. Rarely have to wait very long. Has become my usual.

Yelp
As previously noted, this hole-in-the-wall cafe is actually part of Villino a couple doors up the street. Same great coffee available for take-away, but without squeezing into a crowded cafe to get it.

Yelp
Great coffee, amazing little nibble snacks, but you guys suck at babycinos!! Maybe you don't have kids yet, but any edjit can figure out that giving a scalding cup of milk to a toddler won't end well. Luckily I always check before handing it over. Don't normally do takeaway babycinos but it was particularly chilly... Less heat, more fluffy stuff saves us a trip to A&e. Cheers x
