This High Desert Town Is a Skier's Dream — and It Has the World's Only Certified B Corp Mountain

"A family-oriented lodge located directly across the street from the main slope-side hotel, offering convenient front-door access to a miniature 'gondolita' that ferries children to the ski school area. Room configurations range from single-bedroom units to options with two or three bathrooms, and the property offers lock-off units so guests can rent a single bedroom within a larger condominium — practical flexibility for families and groups seeking easy slope access." - Jamie Aranoff Jamie Aranoff Jamie Aranoff is an assistant editor for Travel + Leisure, specializing in all things travel news. Although my husband and I live in Florida we were in California for a family event. Taos was the last 2 days of a 7-day road trip from California. Helen and Kent warned us that the area was very quiet during our stay because of the ski area's shoulder season. But we don't mind quiet especially after an intense 5-day road trip. Edelweiss was awesome! The people were great, and facilities were very nice, updated and comfy. We highly recommend Edelweiss to folks visiting the Taos area. We look forward visiting again but before shoulder season so we can enjoy the restaurant and spa too. P.S. If you are coming from a geographic area like Florida, it would be beneficial to confirm humidifiers are in the unit although Helen said most units have them :) Thankfully our unit had 2 humidifiers.

This was a summer trip a few years back. Went in August so it was definitely off season. Still had a great time. At times felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. If you wanted to eat you did have to go back into Taos for groceries or other food options. The lifts were running and did get to do some hiking.

Condo was amazing! Service at front desk, ski store, spa, restaurant, etc was excellent! Great quiet family place that’s shuts down dark in evening for quite relaxing nights. Can’t wait to return.

Excellent location, underground parking and nice 2 bdr 2 ba for our family of 4. Hot Tub was nice as well as gym and ping pong room and pool for family fun. Snow not great on the hill but the Edelweiss made the trip! We arrived late at 3am and the hosts gave us clear instructions to get into our condo.

I cannot say enough good things about Edelweiss! I have stayed twice while in town for a race - the perfect quiet spot for pre-race rest and post- race recovery. I especially enjoyed the sauna & hot tub. The lodge decor is beautiful - I love that they feature art/photography from local artists. The lodge is also very clean (a must for me when searching for lodging). The staff is great! They have been accommodating during both stays. Everyone is very friendly. I will definitely stay again in the future.

Just about 100 feet from the main lift! Great friendly staff! The hotel has modern, nice rooms. The only negative is a lack of a breakfast restaurant serving guests within the hotel.||The ski room, sauna and hot tub were great. Location, location, location!!!

This resort is AMAZING! And the service superior! Almost all rooms in the ski valley last weekend were $350/night and we paid $230/night for a gorgeous condo with full kitchen, king bedroom and two full baths! The condo also had a washer and dryer! I HIGHLY recommend this resort! Cannot say enough good things about it!

Edelweiss is a great spot. Ski in and out, great apres ski bar and restaurant. The staff is wonderful, the spa is good and the ski room is great.|The unit needs some updating but in general it was nice and clean. I have stayed at Edelweiss many times over the years and it does not disappoint.

Yelp
Since all the hotels were booked for Labor Day weekend, we had to stay outside of Taos. Luckily for us, we found this place in the Taos Ski Valley region. This place is tucked away with a couple of other hotels and ski-focused businesses. Our room was nice and large, including the bathroom. You were able to see the mountains from our room window. Since it was near the end of the tourist season, there weren't very many people staying there. Additionally, they have a parking garage at the bottom of the building which requires a code to access. They also had a restaurant and bar that we didn't take advantage of since the bar is only opened seasonally. There was a rec room with TV, pool table, foosball table, and piano. My only problem with this hotel was there was no air conditioning. I understand that most of the time a/c is not required given the area but it would have been useful. Having the window open didn't fully cool down the room. There was a box fan in the room, but it was so loud, you wouldn't be able to sleep it with it on. I liked where this place was located as it was near some walking trails. Also the stray dog cantina is right across the street (you can see my review). I will definitely consider staying here again and would recommend it to others.

Yelp
Our family has stayed here multiple times. The rooms and service are first class. Walk out of their comfortable boot room, grab your skis from the valet at their ski shop, and hop right on the gondola. Perfect if you have kids, as the gondola drops you right at the front door of the kids ski school! Cozy apres ski in the bar, with roaring fireplace and wonderful drinks and food. The restaurant is top notch, with a reasonably priced world class wine list. A gem in every respect!!

Yelp
The lodge was above what expected! The rooms were clean and updated with a fireplace, kitchenette and two bathrooms. Our balcony had a view of the loft and board games and dvds were provided for a snowy day in. The front desk people Kent, Kwalhi, and Scott were all very helpful leading up to our reservation and upon arrival- recommending specific sites to see and assisting in accommodating my group of 10. They had an outdoor hot tub and indoor sauna which we put to much use. They also have a bar restaurant adjoining the lodge as an easy place to grab a drink or a bite. They have a basement parking garage and a small attached spa in the work out area. I would definitely come back and stay longer than a weekend.

Yelp
This review is for the spa only. I got a prenatal massage by Sarah and it was one of the best massages I've ever had. The venue was clean and inviting and I wish I had gone sooner in my trip because I would have booked another session! Don't miss this massage opportunity!

Yelp
What a lovely experience! I savored sitting on the condo balcony sipping coffee overlooking the Taos Ski Mountain, then accessing the mountain ski in/ski out style. Great, convenient, one flip switch fireplaces in each room, comfy couches, plus delicious food in both Cafe Naranja and the Blonde Bear Tavern. Make sure to order the artichoke dip, onion rings, and chopped cauliflower with pine nuts after an awesome day on the slopes! And say hey to Kent the cool manager of the property! : )

Yelp
One of the oldest establishments in the ski valley, they recently redid the hotel and it looks great. The spa is wonderful, the guest services are wonderful, food is incredible.

Yelp
The bar/ restaurant here is great. Steve the bartender made me a bag of ice for my aching knee and a delicious hot cocoa to warm me up. The fire place and all the seating is just charming and comfy. The rooms and condos are expensive but nice.

Yelp
So too many things to advise! The spa is very nice and definitely the best Taos Ski Valley has to offer. Kat and Mat are great. Great experience, no funny business, all good. The restaurant also the best attempt at fine dining. The food was awesome, truffle fries, tuna tartare, meatloaf and enchiladas all to die for! The service however, makes you not want to return! Bartender a jerk, wait staff, "trying", Hawaiian for pretending. I suppose nice guys, but not what the food deserves. Great for taco/hamburger joint, but not at this price point. Waited 45 min at least, maybe more for first drink, priorities were off. We tried to order, but flat out ignored! Maybe understaffed, maybe. Earlier in the day, I was in 20 min. early for spa treatments , so sat for a coffee.I was scoffed at for just a coffee before my $200. Spa day, which I never have! Spa good, food great, service terrible! Tom at front desk very nice and trying to accommodate! Also, unless a guest at hotel, plan on parking in giant ski lot, not the most relaxing to get on tram in blizzard after Ginger scrub massage!! Not good!

Yelp
Masala chai tea was amaizing! As well as crossiants! Staff was freindly and very proffesional!

Yelp
Chef Horton has a new breakfast and lunch menu Friday through Monday at Cafe Naranja in the Edelweiss. The Reuben with house-cured corned beef and house-fermented kraut is as good as it gets anywhere! The iced tea is really good too.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible establishment. Terrible food, terrible service, bust most importantly a terribly rude bartender. Also very over-priced rates, especially compared to the neighboring Snakedance Inn, which is ski in/ski out.
