Wanted to re-write my review because every time I go, it just gets better and better!
Plant based dining at its finest. I’ve been coming to this place for what seems like forever and it just gets better each time I go. This dining experience however, was my best yet.
Despite cold winds and rain, we went for a Sunday lunch. We started off with a couple of drinks.. a white wine and one of their delicious cocktails, the ‘Flower Boy’. Elderflower, gin, freshly squeezed lemon juice, aquafaba, agave and fresh daisies.
A new dish on the menu, the ‘Ceviche’. This was prepared with lychee and served with mango salsa, avocado, lime infused celery sorbet, caviar, coriander and fresh chilli. This was just a gorgeous burst of fresh flavour in every bite. Despite it being made with lychee, there was no lychee taste at all. They simply used it for the appearance and texture of your traditional ceviche and they nailed it. I can’t explain what the caviar was made from but it was just perfect. Oh and that sorbet.. great addition to the dish.
Everything worked so well together and this was a favourite!
Another new menu item I tried, was the ‘Whipped Feta & Olive Dip’. It was smooth, flavourful and tasted exactly like I had imagined it would. It paired perfectly with the warm pita and I would order it again and again. Couldn’t believe it was plant based!
When I saw that they had ‘Burrata’ on the menu, I knew I had to order it. I was so curious on how they would make it plant based. It didn’t have the same appearance or texture but when I took a mouthful of it, my mind was blown. Same flavour and the same texture came through once it melted in my mouth. Kudos to the team for absolutely nailing this one!
I’ve had the ‘Cheezeburger Sliders’ here before but this time, the ‘Tokyo Sliders’ were on offer. This had fried chik’n, wasabi mayo, organic kimchi, fried nori and cos lettuce in between a charcoal slider. Plant based meat can leave a weird aftertaste in your mouth but I’ve never experienced that here. That patty was crispy and had a beautiful bite to it and the rest of the ingredients made the whole thing so enjoyable to eat. I can’t recommend this one enough!
‘Popcorn Cauli’ is a regular on the menu and one of my favourites. It’s tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce and served with a ranch dressing. The cauliflower is crisp and crunchy and I actually prefer it over popcorn chicken.
What’s a meal without a little pasta? We ordered the ‘Golden Gnocchi’ which is made up of pan fried sweet potato gnocchi, garlic sage butter, alfredo, kale pesto and then topped with parmesan. The perfect dish for a rainy day!
And of course, there is always room for dessert. We ordered the ‘Doughnut Sandwich’ which is a pink pitaya glazed doughnut by Rudeboy Doughnuts, filled with ice cream and topped with sprinkles. A fun dessert to eat and when combined all together, it was just beautiful. To our surprise, we were also given the ‘Cookie Skillet’. It’s a freshly baked choc chip cookie straight from the oven, served with Biscoff crumbs, caramel sauce and ice cream. This is one to indulge in. It is rich, sweet and perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth.
A huge thank you to the team here for your amazing hospitality and for yet, another amazing feed.
