The hotel is well located, the rooms are very clean and comfortable and the breakfast are very good.|The staff were all absolutely charming but a special thanks to the night reception on 15th August. People in the room opposite us started incredibly loud music at 4.20 am and we rang reception, someone came up immediately and made them turn the music off. The noise continued with loud shouting and talking and again reception responded immediately and asked them to be quiet. The response was brilliant from reception.

A beautiful location in the heart of the area, making it incredibly convenient and within easy reach of all the main attractions. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean, well-maintained, and offered a welcoming atmosphere from the moment we arrived. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always happy to help, which made our stay feel relaxed and enjoyable. An ideal choice for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and great service.

Google
The cleanliness was good. They don't have many staff, so from what I understand, you have to check in and out yourself. There's only one attendant to handle the situation. No cleaning service came to the room during our three-night stay. We requested new towels, and they were replaced. We would have expected the trash to be taken out, but unfortunately. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were spacious. The best feature was its central location. Room cleaning services are working very loudly in the morning tho, we woke up early due to noise.

Rooms are good but you may be unlucky enough to get the cramped ones due to the layout. Clean rooms (some days housekeeping simply did not make the bed ... no reason given. But they'll change the towels. Centrally located with trams and bikes readily accessible. Breakfast choices are great! Loved the salmon particularly.

We stayed for 7 nights, and I honestly regret booking this hotel. One night, a strong cigar smell came through the connecting room door, even though the hotel claims to be smoke-free. I called reception twice — they were dismissive, unhelpful, and didn’t take any action. The rooms were very outdated. Beds were uncomfortable and felt overused. Pillows were too large, and the AC in our room would cool for a bit, then stop working in the middle of the night. In the upgraded room, the bathroom looked decent at first, but there was mold in the shower corners and black spots on the ceiling. After a shower, water flooded the bathroom and reached the carpet in the bedroom. It was clear this wasn’t the first time it happened. Mosquitoes were a daily problem. We killed multiple mosquitoes every day and night. I woke up several times because of bites and buzzing sounds. The window brought in even more bugs when opened. The soundproofing is poor, and the bathroom door offers no privacy at all. There are a few good things: the lobby was clean, some staff were polite, and the mini market was convenient. But none of that makes up for how uncomfortable and unclean the stay felt. I would never stay here again and do not recommend it at all. Even the location is honestly not the best!

Google
Great Hotel Good Location on the River Amstel with good transport links to central station and surrounding attractions, with great ammenties and a hot and cold buffet style breakfast. Super friendly and helpful staff, who are more than pleased to help. Good, clean room with nice hot shower and comfortable mattress and air conditioning. This is my second time staying here and will keep using the Eden Hotel for future visits.

So firstly the hotel is clean and the reception is nice staff are helpful and polite the rooms are clean and the beds were comftable. The room we had was very small our group had 5 rooms 3 out of the 5 were small the other 2 were small but slightly bigger the shower/toilet was ridiculous sitting on the toilet at an angle as they were that close to the wall. If you dropped something in the shower or when you wash your lower half you have to squat as bending is impossible leave the doors open and flood the place also had to make a dam with the towel as drain won't take water away fast enough and lastly house keeping is once every 3 days nice hotel and good for a 1 or 2 night stay over 10 min walk from the centre wouldn't stop again though.

Google
First up, the staff is really friendly and helpful. I can't recommend them enough. The location is also pretty much perfect. You can reach any of Amsterdams major attractions in less than half an hour of walking. The breakfast options are quite generous and will not leave you wanting. Every floor can be reached via a spacious elevator, which is only accessible via room key. The only downside was the size and quality of the room. Even as a double, it was quite cramped and barely left room to move around in. The only window was shoved into a corner, leaving the room quite stuffy at times. Especially since it did not open fully. Some of the paint could do with a touch-up. On the plus side: The bed was incredibly comfortable and allowed for a great night's sleep. If I ever find myself in the area again, I will surely consider staying here again.

Yelp
This is a nice boutique hotel that would make your stay in Amsterdam more pleasant Location: Tip: just exit left on Amslet walk down to the Royal Palace 15 min walk and make a right 3 blocks and you will be on the red light district. Keep walking west and you will be in Amsterdam Centraal. Exit right to Rembrandt square tou will find lots of restaurants. Keep walking down this passage tou will find lots of stores and restaurants on your way down to Amsterdam centrum Great option to stay down the street from the famous icebar. 20 min walk to Amsterdam Centrum. Oppose to staying on a hotel Amsterdam Centrum much older buildings, much smaller rooms. A few steps from Rembrandt square with lots of restaurants. This hotel seems to be 3 buildings connected together. Lobby: spacious lobby with different settings two entrances. Amslet entrance has the main lobby for check in, Convenient self check in which makes it easy and fast. The middle area of the lobby has a huge bar area, with comfortable booths, tables. Also a pool table and other table games Another nice amenity is the small market. Prices are not extremely high. Additionally they have a pizza and toast self service area. Rooms: We stayed at a superior room. Trendy odd burlesque theme on the room It was spacious compared to most European hotels. Just with a huge vanity that took half the space of the room. Huge bathroom. I think bigger than the bedroom. A plus for the ladies, bathroom counter is big with a nice size mirror. Amenities in the room. A/C some hotels do not have A/C in Europe, but this one has a decent a/c. Nespresso machine with several courtesy pods , tea selection as well. Complementary couple of water bottles. I dare to say the beds were not as comfortable as I wish, but they were decent. I guess I am not used to small European beds. Staff: All staff members were courteous and friendly. Especially at the time of check in, Joseph was looking after all guests and I noticed he was always looking to take care of you. All members were very courteous friendly. Breakfast: Breakfast buffet with eggs, bacon , sausage, variety of bread, fruit, yogurts, cereal, juices, cold cuts, etc. It was good decent breakfast. Overall a great stay., good value, friendly staff. I was a little doubtful with some reviews, but glad I choose this hotel. Especially after seeing the hotels at centrum, to get a nice hotel there you would have to pay much more money. Good value for your money with courteous and friendly staff.

Yelp
We checked in around 8 pm from a tiresome day's commute of a plane ride and multiple train rides from Heathrow. This hotel's nearest subway station was the Waterlooplein, which was only 300 meters away but felt way further as we were lugging our bags through the cobblestones. A better option was for us to have taken the GVB lines 4 or 14 to the Rembrandtplein with lesser walking but we only realized this option as we were checking out. Oh the irony! This boutique hotel doesn't scream "stay here!!!" from the outside as the facade matches with Amsterdam's row houses. While my wife was registering vianone of the terminals in the lobby, I was busy admiring and taking photos of Level Zero (European ground floor). The healthy soiless potted plants caught my attention as well as the water refilling station at the from entrance. Our room was tight quarters as expected. The bathroom was roomier than what I imagined. We got complimentary Spa Reine still waters in glass bottles with an opener next to them. This really impressed me about the "greening" of hotels. A single serve Nespresso and tea bags in tins completed the beverage amenities of the room. I gotta mention the airy and luscious Bros melkchocolade bars we got everytime they cleaned our room. I'd recommend this hotel as it's located in a quieter neighborhood than the busier canals and bridges posted online. They do have a resto-bar in hotel but we decided to get our F&D while out frolicking in this Dutch capital.

Yelp
This will be my go to hotel when I am in Amsterdam. Classy and modern at the same time. Self check in. Help with bags, laundry service, market with Starbucks, a lounge and a restaurant! They will call you car service... You never have to leave! It is centrally located. I walked every where. Minus one star because the kettle was spotty on the outside and the drinking glasses are worn. Also you can tell they refill the little toiletries. That should be neater.

Yelp
This was my 21 st stay at the Eden. It is my favorite hotel in Amsterdam. It is clean and comfortable at a reasonable price. The staff is wonderful. They are professional, efficient knowledgeable, and very friendly. It has a 24/7 store and a hotel bar that serves a nice breakfast. It is located on Rembrandt Square next to many restaurants, clubs, bars and shops. The area is well lighted and safe. Several trams such as the 4 and 14, among others run by the hotel. I highly recommend the Eden and will stay there again.

Yelp
I stayed at Eden Hotel last month. The self checkin process overcharged my credit card and the front desk told me they do not have the capabilities to refund my charge and they would send my refund to my bank account. That was 7 weeks ago and I'm still waiting. Not professional.

Yelp
After staying at two luxurious hotels in Italy, we were really slumming it here. Stayed two nights, would not want to return. This charmless place cost me $280/night, without breakfast, totally not worth it. We ate brunch at Mama's Bakery instead, down the block, which opens at 9AM. The king-size bed and pillows at the Eden Hotel were soft and comfortable, however there was barely enough room to walk around the bed in the tiny room. The bathroom was very small, and only separated from the room by a frosted glass door two feet from the end of the bed. It was dirty, with mildew in the shower, and badly in need of renovation. The sink was awkward, with no place to put a bar of soap. There is a shelf behind the commode to store your toothbrush and toiletries. There is a Nepresso machine in the room, but few other amenities. Not even an alarm clock. Checking in, the first thing they say is no smoking. Meanwhile, the reception area reeked of weed, which drifts in from the coffeeshop next door, and the two down the block. There's a concession in the lobby with snacks and drinks. Self-serve, credit card only. There is a good Asian fusion restaurant across the street (Noodlebar Rembrandtplein). It's a lively neighborhood, with lots of pubs, and restaurants, including Indonesian. The nearby flower market is fun, and neighborhood cheese shops generous with samples.

Yelp
3.5 stars My friend and I stayed here for 6 nights. We arrived a bit early before checkin-in at 3 and were hoping we could get in early as we were tired. We didn't have luck as we could tell it was a busy time and all rooms were booked and needed time to be cleaned out. My friend and I explored Amsterdam for the first time while our room was getting ready so we had plenty to do to kill time. We had reserved twin beds, and even though they are side by side like one big bed there is plenty of room to separate them for more personal room. I am knocking off 1.5 stars because the internet was not that great, super slow. No refrigerator in a basic room, would be nice if they had one. I hated the bathroom door. It was a fog glass door that didn't even close all the way, it gave no privacy if you needed to do your business, everyone can hear you. The room was small but did it's job but I wish the bathroom provided more privacy. Their cleaning could use some work. When they did clean the room they only made the bed and provided new towels. I could tell they didn't actually clean, as dust that was in the bathroom was still there. The location is great but it's all in the details.

Yelp
Great location, easy walk to all the main attractions. We did the hop on hop off tours and the boat stops right outside the hotel which was very convenient. Our concierge was very helpful and took the time to answer all our questions and made some great recommendations for dinner. Beds were very comfortable and had thick covers which I like. There is another hotel that joins on to this one that faces into Rembrandt square. Apparently our one is a 3 star hotel and the other one a 4 star. Owned by the same person.

Yelp
Here's the deal- this place is priced to please, the staff are helpful and kind, and the hotel is located in a great spot within reasonable walking distance to every nook and cranny of Amsterdam. The room was typically appointed and we were pleased to arrive on a very early flight and be let in to our digs straight away despite actual check-in time being hours away. The room was, however, very noisy from the hallways, above and all sides (once, it sounded like metal school desk/chairs being moved in the middle of the night for about three hours...think about that sound, you know the distinct metal weighted leg dragging sound) and the room continuously had what is apparently "the odor" of Amsterdam. Additionally, there was an air mover on the wall that dripped incessantly, so much so that we felt like we were in a new Edgar Allen Poe story. A two-foot wife and growing patch just below the mover on the carpet stayed wet for our bare feet-just-out-of-bed pleasure each morning. Full disclosure on ourselves? We were dumb and did NOT bring these concerns up to the staff. We were really tired from the extensive travel day one, being zonked made us wonder if we were more sensitive to noise and such. Day two we were out all day and most of the evening and sort of "forgot" about the room. Day three we were already so unpacked and just too American style lazy to think about moving our stuff, and we were leaving later that day.

Yelp
We enjoyed an amazing stay at the Eden Hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Joussef, the concierge, is absolutely amazing. He helped plan the most amazing day for us in and around Amsterdam. He is courteous and very knowledgeable. Ask for him and you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We have stayed at the Eden Hotel a few times and on this occasion, we stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is in a very good location. Rembrandtplein is a short distance away, where there are plenty of restaurants, bars, coffeeshops and cafes. It is also handy for the Flower Market, The Red Light District, Dam Square, the tour boats and the shopping areas. There is a nearby tram that takes you all over the City. The room was a little small which is typical for a hotel in the centre of Amsterdam, though it was clean and comfortable. However, we do not generally spend much time in the hotel, as we prefer to be out and about and we only used the hotel room for resting, sleeping and bathroom facilities. The modern bathroom was kept nice and clean, with everything that we needed, including plenty of towels and toiletries and the shower was easy to use. Breakfast, which was lovely, was included in the cost. The hotel bar was a very pleasant area, and there was a very good drinks menu. We visited the bar mainly in the late evening and my partner enjoyed a drink or two of the draught beer. All of the staff were very welcoming and efficient and we had no problems checking in or out. The Eden Hotel is an excellent choice for the price we paid and I would recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Amsterdam. We plan on returning to this fantastic City in the near future and we are considering staying here again.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the Eden. Great rooms, service and location. In the middle of everything. We used public transportation to see the city and the surface rail was 1 block away

Yelp
The Eden Hotel is the sister property to Eden Rembrandt Square Hotel, and both face opposite sides of the same block. They are conveniently located on the edge of Rembrandt Square right on the 14 tram line. Unfortunately, road construction in front of the Eden Hotel creates a bit of an inconvenience in accessing its front entrance. However, guests can easily enter through the Eden Rembrandt's main entrance since both hotel lobbies are interconnected. Remember, reviewers: the hotel cannot control the city's construction projects, so stop blaming the hotel for your inconvenience when it's outside of the hotel's control. We arrived shortly after official check-in time and had a quick yet pleasant registration. Our room 137 was wonderful: decent space and size, large cabinets for hanging clothing, plenty of lamps for light, a well-functioning safe, adequate bathroom with a large sink, shower-tub, hot water, hairdryer, and toiletries. Added bonus: the room had amazing air conditioning, which was much appreciated during the recent heatwave through Europe. The best part were the amazing beds! They were the most comfortable beds we had slept on in weeks. We typically leave the privacy/do-not-disturb sign on our door whenever we travel since we rarely require service. We were delightfully surprised to return to our room one evening to find a bag filled with fresh towels and toiletries left by the housekeeping staff because they weren't able to service our room due to our privacy request. What a fantastic service touch! Check-out was quick and easy, and we were surprised to discover the hotel offers Clefs d'Or concierge service. We had already done a great deal of research and planning prior to our arrival, so we didn't need to utilize the concierges' assistance, but we will definitely keep them in mind for our next trip. Overall, we were very happy with our stay, and we'll definitely stay again!

Yelp
Great location but super small rooms. Our bed was against the wall, terrible lighting, no fridge. The bathroom door gives no privacy if you're sharing a room. The soap and shampoo is horrible ! If it weren't for the location I'd give it 1-2 stars.
google avatar

Ken J.

Yelp
First of all, I must say, that I am used to US hotels. And the hotels in Europe are a little different. No washcloths, no mini fridge, sometimes no fan in the bathroom. This room had no fan there. But the room was clean and fairly comfortable. I also don't like the fact that in Europe there's generally no topsheet just a duvet. We had a pretty good view of a little harbor out of our window, along the Amstel river. The concierge was very helpful to us when we had to figure out how to get to the boat docks using the public transportation system. The street in front of the hotel was torn up during our visit, which hampered us dragging our luggage over all the rubber mats they had placed out over the rough terrain. You could walk through the lobby of the Eden to get to their sister hotel, which I believe was called the Renaissance, and get out to the other street there which was not torn up.Which is what we did almost every trip out of the hotel. Kind of funny, we took a canal boat cruise, and it went right past the Eden.

Yelp
Besides the fact that rooms are small I have a few direct complaints.... You cannot sit back on the toilet like most normal people prefer to do, the flush button is right behind the back of the seat. So you have to do whatever business you need to do at an angle of 50 degrees. The most important thing is- At the end of your trip, they try to tell you they forgot to charge you tax so now you must pay tax and you will not receive your deposit back based on mistakes of the staff. They seem genuinely upset but for some reason I was not the only one this happened to. I witnessed it happen to two others.

John D.

Yelp
Great location, decent bar and pretty clean. Great Value. However... Taking a shit there is a nightmare for 2 reasons. 1 - The toilets are mounted high on the wall so you need to balance with your toes when cracking out a heater and 2 - they don't have paper rolls. They have tiny squares of paper that are more like napkins. This is a challenge when you've just fired out a monster that needs extra cleaning. If shitting is important to you I would avoid this place, otherwise its just fine.

Yelp
Four stars for the location, friendly staff, clean bed and clean shower. The hotel is a bit dustier than I would prefer but for the price and location, it's worth it. The carpets in the room are strange, they are like plastic and a bit stained. The remote was rancid, made me gag lol..hallelujah I brought disinfectant wipes, even after I wiped it down, I put the remote in a plastic bag and and used it from within the bag lol..the hotel itself is old and cute, the hallways are uneven and wobbly due to it being on the canal. It is in the center of all the Amsterdam magic, every district is just a short walk away. Would definitely recommend staying here if you're on a budget and still want to be in all the action.

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location however the lobby floor was filthy and our room hadn't been vacuumed or the garbage emptied in our bathroom. I mentioned the floor twice to the front desk and concierge but it was never washed in the 3 days we were there. They don't allow any eating in the lobby but they don't offer any light snacks. etc. Only breakfast and dinner. Elvira at the Front desk was friendly and helpful as well as Rob the Concierge. Very good breakfast. All this 3* hotel needs to do is to work on the cleanliness.

Deena J.

Yelp
Super small very smelly rooms(smells like vape or weed but overwhelming). They put us on the second floor and people partied all night outside in the street and kept us awake. There was almost no water pressure in my shower and no wash clothes. The only bright side was the friendly staff. I'm afraid I could not recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Not a bad place, and could be great for you.... 1. Location - Perfectly located in Rembrandsplein and just one street away from all the noise, so it is perfect stumbling distance to all the great pubs in Amsterdam! 2. Reception and Area - Very nice, good size elevator and pleasant modern. 3. Oddity - Shares the lobby area with the Eden City Hotel which is great access to the square with the pubs and restaurants. 4. Room - Decent and room for single person. However, shower has no curtain or glass, so you seriously wet up the joint when showering. Their amenities for soap and shampoo is non existent. Like most other hotels, no face towel at all. 5. Plenty of - Electrical plug in for all that stuff you now bring! 6. Amenities - In room internet at high cost, In room movies, odd single sheet toilet paper system, open shower/tub, with no curtain or enclosure, no where to put your own toiletries. Great lighting options, decent barely hotel. 7. Breakfast included - Check, it was for me and it was very, very good. 8. Staff - Nice, professional, pleasant!!! I would stay again if the bed was not a marshmallow. Hard for me to sleep on such a bed that sinks so much.

Yelp
We stayed here during our trip to Amsterdam. The hotel with a few minor details such as women's hair in the bathtub, no iron etc. was overall a good experience. It is located very close to all the must sees in the city such as Anne Frank's house, Van Gogh and the red light district. Everything is literally within a mile walk. The hotel was good and would stay here again. Room service was on point and did an outstanding job. Just keep in mind that some of the rooms are small or are situated to where the bathroom door is literally 3 feet away from the bed. So you might get to know whoever you're traveling in a whole new way and if you don't care then you're set. The concierge staff was very helpful and patient with explaining things and giving directions. The biggest negative was the guy at the front desk. I didn't get his name but he had a medium complexion with a buzz haircut. The only way to describe that guy is F****ing A*****e. You ask anything and he was an ass and no he wasn't being direct or blunt he was just bent on being an A*****e. And he felt the need to tell me multiple times breakfast was not included in a condescending manner. I finally told him we didn't come for their breakfast and to stop reminding me. I thought it was just me after a long day of travels but while waiting for my room, I saw the concierge escorting two guests and overhead him say "I saw he was actually nice to you this time." Other than the front desk jerk the stay was good and would recommend this spot as the rest of the staff was pretty chill and helpful.

Yelp
Stayed here while on business, you cannot be the location if you wish to be in the center of the action! The staff is super friendly and welcoming, which is not always a cornerstone of Dutch customer service. A few things to keep in mind...the room was super tiny, even by European standards, but for the price it was just fine. There also wasn't an alarm clock. The breakfast was beyond expensive for what you get (18 euro) for only a small handful of items. Eggs, bacon, bread and unfavorable yogurt...that's it! Your better off going to the market around the corner for bfast!

Eytan G.

Yelp
Terrible experience I have made a reservation 3 months up front I have informed the customer representative that me and my wife are coming to spend our anniversary down there there was no mentioning whatsoever rooms were always dirty cleaning as terrible they have put a used steering sticks back to use again towels are not changed bags on the floor shower dirty

Sana Y.

Yelp
We came all the way from USA and thought we stayed in a nice hotel in central Amsterdam that has NO IRON NOOOOO IRON how can you live without an iron!!!!! Costume service is very rude and is you ask for something which they don't have anything available all you hear is IM SORRY!!! Sorry doesn't work.
google avatar

Yelp
Average hotel. Nothing amazing here. You pay for what you get. Rooms are standard small European type rooms. Decent location for walking around the city. If pricing is cheap I could consider coming back but wouldn't be my first choice.

Lynelle L.

Yelp
The bar here is awesome!!! Great drinks and awesome bartenders. It's a mystery why the hotel doesn't advertise this bar more. More people should be here at Bar 36 Black and know about this place.

Yelp
MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF MAY 03, 2012: While checking-in last evening (May 03, 2012), I had my eye away from my baggage for a few minutes while talking with the froint office staff about room options. In that space of 5 minutes or so, my backpack containing my camera, cellphone, itinerary documents, and other important items disappeared. The hotel staff displayed a very laid-back attitiude about the theft incident, indicating this was quite a routine ocurrence. Several security cameras (dummy or otherwise) appear to be installed all over the lobby, but hotel staff has no access to their footage, to help with this case of theft. Sadly, I must conclude these incidences happen either with the collusion or implicit knowledge of the hotel staff. CONCLUSION: I liked the hotel location in the center of the city and overlooking the canal. Great romantic ambience. We were able to get upgraded to an apartment adjoining the hotel which had separate bedrooms and living area on separate floors, with a great big windows overlooking the canal. BUT BEWARE !!! The neighborhood appears unsafe and the hotel lobby is frequented by undesirables (posing as hotel guests) who swarm around the check-in/lobby area studying those who arrive, and with intent to pick pockets or whisk off baggage from unsuspecting guests. At night, we also noticed lot's of local folks drinking on the sidewalk ("our large french-window view"), and a few shouting obscenities at folks walking into the hotel. All In All - My multi-country European holiday was ruined barely after it began in this city. And I hate Amsterdam for it !

Sara W.

Yelp
Bathroom door was almost clear. Which can be problematic if there is more than one person and you do not wish to learn their personal bathroom habits. In a great location. Stayed two nights and never had housekeeping even try to stop by. All soap is the same and dispensed from the wall. Our hair and body soap dispenser was empty.

Yelp
This hotel is stylish and modern. No wifi available in the rooms, only in the lobby, which is ok because the lobby has a nice armosphere. The staff is very helpful and very nice. The shower was nice and hot and the room is very clean. It was nice to come here and wash off my day of travelling before heading out to explore the canals. It is centrally located and there are restaurants and stores within a very short walking distance. The lobby smells of smoke sometimes which is a slight bother to me, but overall this is a fantastic hotel. I would stay here again and i highly recommend staying here.

Bitsy B.

Yelp
It's a decent hotel in a good location. Nothing special. The bar's mediocre. But the price of a room is reasonable and hopefully you won't be spending much time in your hotel anyhow.
