Google
Edgartown Books was a really cool place to visit, even thought I am not an avid reader. This bookstore three levels of quaint rooms setup for different genre of books. The top floor had a cute kids area including a really cool train track that ran around the ceiling shelf. Very cool!

Google
Best collection of children’s books I have ever seen! Was a trip down memory lane! Thoughtful book curation across all genres.

Google
I stopped by for the weekend. A lovely man with round glasses helped me find two books I loved. I told him I was looking for some books with female leads that weren’t centered around romance. He was so helpful and thoughtful. Thank you, thank you. (Update) The two authors recommended are now some of my favorite authors.

Google
Great bookstore! Lots to offer. Nice staff. The man behind the counter even offered me two of his own personal stamps for my cards!

Google
Greta books, beautiful book store, not to mention an amazing coffee shop in the back. The garden is zen and the cute rocking chairs upfront to enjoy a great read.

Yelp
Super cute little bookstore downtown with very friendly staff. They had a signed Taylor Jenkins Reid novel that I've had my eye on forever.

Yelp
I found this sweet, quaint bookstore in Martha's Vineyard that I was destined to check out. We walked down the street and found the house that the bookstore was located in. We quickly entered to find an adorably set up bookstore right in the middle of town. We entered the bookstore a long with many other people, which made it a little crowded. They had outdoor seating for my father in law and husband, who really had no interest in joining me inside. As I perused the store, I found different genres of books that I had on my reading list. Unfortunately, due to the price of these books comparative to other bookstores, I decided not to buy anything. If you are looking for a good bookstore while on Martha's Vineyard, this is your place!

Yelp
The bookstore is adorable and has many different labeled sections. There is an upstairs as well, and the decorated steps are adorable. The way they decorated it is very cute but also makes it easy to find things. They have free lollipops and the man who was working there when I went (I think he was the owner or manager) was so kind and sweet! Definitely recommend stopping by!

Yelp
This bookstore is located conveniently near amazing stops in Martha's Vineyard. My first trip visiting during off season and I still had a wonderful time. Stopped in this adorable bookshop and had the pleasure of meeting sweet Mathew! So kind to speak to, took the time to find the exact book I was looking for. Something by a local writer with the exact tone of writing I enjoy! If you're ever in town give them a moment of your time! All the charm of small town quant bookstores. Check out upstairs as well if you have time to sit and read there's an adorable setup with complimentary coffee as well, very thoughtful.

Yelp
I will agree with previous reviewers that the selection is small, however the staff was so friendly and kind! I told them what authors and kinds of books I liked and they lead me to a few different books to choose from!

Yelp
Such a lovely book store. It was like walking into a Hallmark Movie. The decor was cute. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Great selection of local authors.

Yelp
I love books, and I love bookstores. Many big chains have slowly gone out of business, and the rise of mom & pop stores is upon us! If you love books as much as I do - you need to check out this quaint store. It is open from 9-10 seven days a week, which makes it a perfect rainy evening activity. Get lost inside, find a nook, and delve into a new hardcover. Peruse children's books, and purchase gifts for your loved ones. This quaint store even has two comfortable chairs outside so you can sit and watch all of the people passing by. If you're in Edgartown, you'll need to check this place out!

Yelp
I love fun, unique bookstores. This is not one of them. The selection is small - I came in looking for a nice local coffee table book. I found children's books making fun of the president (ironic for Martha's Vineyard) and the staff was more dedicated to making fun of the patrons under their breath than helping them.

Yelp
Best selection of books and such a charming, cool location. The salespeople are knowledgeable and helpful. And a great cafe in the back! What could be better than this combination?

Yelp
Cozy bookshop with a limited but well-curated selection. I like browsing since the number of books is approachable. The staff is not the most interactive, but that works for me. Glad there is a place that doesn't sell expensive clothing and trinkets.

Yelp
I stopped in here on a rainy day to look around. Great selection of local history books on the first floor; most seemed very interesting (ie: history of deaf community on the Island). Not a huge selection of books (the space can only hold so much!) but you can tell most of the titles are thoughtfully picked out and would make for good reads. What my ratings mean: 1 star: Horrible. I'm annoyed I wasted my time and/or money here. 2 star: Not bad but nothing special. A decent place if you can't find something else. I'd equate this to something like McDonald's. 3 star: I enjoyed my experience there and would go back to try or do more things there. 4 star: I loved it and would be excited to go back. I'd also recommend it to a friend. 5 star: A real gem of a place. A must on anyone's list.

Yelp
i want to thank this store and their staff for being wheelchair friendly and very accommodating! the two girls staffing were quick to move obstacles out of the way for my sister who had just broken her ankle two days prior. many shops in edgartown are old buildings which were not made with accessibility in mind unfortunately but in spite of this they really tried to make it a space for everyone to shop! also they had a nice book selection and i had no problem finding interesting reads to dive in to and they also had lots of cute stickers and pins in the front.

Yelp
Typical MV bookstore: Great selection that can cater to just about anyone who walks through the doors, with that rustic charm of creaky wood floors, twisty turns through the stacks and quiet solitude as you browse. We came in later (9:45ish) on a Saturday night, and I figured the store clerks would be irritated since it had to be so close to closing time, but they were super friendly and welcoming, and the store apparently stays open until 10pm.

Yelp
i could get lost in bookstores for days...and i dont even read that much. i really liked Edgartown Books, number 1) because the staff was unbelievably friendly, 2) they have a pretty diverse selection of books they sell and 3) i felt like i was at a library. no one yelled at me for taking my time and find the book i wanted to purchase, or that i was going to flip through a few of them and read a few pages. at places like barnes and noble i feel like i need to go in get what i want to read and get the eff out. Edgartown books is a great place to take kids too, they have book signings every week and have a white board outside, listing upcoming events. i would give it a 5/5 but its soooo damn small, it makes me wish thier space was bigger so they could offer more.

Yelp
Really, really cute Mom and Pop bookstore. The staff is friendly and helpful without being overbearing, and they have a wide variety of options. This place somehow gives me a sense of optimism, and leads me to go beyond my normal taste in books, and usually I end up sitting in the comfortable window couch area in the children's section reading a random book that I decided to take a chance on for an hour or two. The thing that I love most about the Vineyard is that there haven't been many chain stores to invade the island, and I'm very happy to see this cute, independent bookstore stay here, as it is a centerpiece in the homey town that is Edgartown.

F D.

Yelp
If you like cute and funky independent bookstores this is your place. It's small and cramped with tons of charm in a really old and beautiful building. If you get a good selection of titles that many folks would find interesting but for folks looking for we are titles it may not satisfy them. Like a lot of these retail businesses during the summer season, young college age kids from elsewhere in the world come in to work and spend the summer. Staff on duty was rather disengaged and had no knowledge of the building, the layout, or the basics of the books.

Yelp
This is a beautiful, quirky little bookstore! Lots of nooks and crannies to get lost in and plenty of places to plop down and start reading. Lots of books about the Vineyard as well as the Cape itself. Staff is polite and helpful!

Yelp
The bookstore has a lot of options and the selection is great for a smaller community. The staff is not the most helpful.

Yelp
Tried calling for an hour - kept getting busy signal. Guess they didn't want my business

Debbie B.

Yelp
Is it possible to give minus stars? I am always so very disappointed when I come here. I was so happy when a new owner purchased the store, enabling it to stay open, but I've only experienced terrible customer service since then. Hopefully the owner will read this and be able to address these issues. Examples: 1. I purchased a book here on tax-free weekend and the person ringing up my order still charged me tax until I told him about tax-free weekend. 2. The same person, while ringing up my order, decided not to pick up the phone when someone called, because he said it wasn't his boss. I told him that all customers are important and that he should have at least picked up the phone and asked the person to hold while he was concluding my purchase. 3. I visited on a Saturday during the fishing derby only to find a sign posted that they were closed because they had gone fishing. This could have been a good weekend to make some sales. What store closes during a busy weekend so the staff can to go fishing? 4. A distraught gentleman came in saying he had called several times and left messages, and that no one had returned his call. The manager never bothered to apologize. 5. And... I just stopped by on a beautiful Saturday to find them closed, without any sign posting days or hours that they're open. So now I'm off to a bookstore in Vineyard Haven or to Amazon... They've lost both sales and a customer. Is it that difficult to find a good bookstore manager? I doubt it.

Lynda B.

Yelp
Truly pathetic excuse for a bookstore - clearly they are going out of business. Staff is horrible - one guy - maybe the manager - was telling customers that "he has never read a whole book". What exactley is the point? We are so sad - this used to be a great store with a great selection of books. We noticed numerous books in hardcover that are available in paper. Outdated stock with snotty, rude staff - wish I could give this negative starts...don't bother going in.

Yelp
It's a cute little book store devoid of the friendly customer service one would expect from a local business. I purchased a book from a young lady with zero personality. She took my money, and didn't even thank me for my purchase. I guess Edgartown businesses have the luxury of a tourist economy, so they can be exceptionally rude to patrons.
