Stopped here while driving the Irish Loop and we were so glad we did. A lovely and clean restaurant with delightful service. The cod and chicken were freshly and perfectly fried for our sandwiches. I wish other fried fish restaurant could replicate the light and crispy coating of the fish- that stayed on the filet until the very end! There was a lovely view of the water, but it was the people and the food that made it really special.

We stayed in the Powles Head Lighthouse Suite, which was very spacious and comfortable with a king-size bed and a modern bathroom. The restaurant is very good, but don't arrive too late as it closes at 8 p.m. It's a great place to visit the southern part of the Irish Loop.
The only downside is the breakfast, which is very basic, which is why I'm not giving it 5 stars. It could be improved with cheese or ham items and local jams, for exemple.

We stayed for 2 nights and just loved it. Colleen and Linda just made our stay. They were so kind and looked after us beautifully. We had dinner and breakfast both days and the food was excellent. Thanks so much Linda and Colleen.

Great place to stay. The room was very clean and beds comfortable. One bed did squeak quite a bit when you had to roll over but was still comfortable. There was no AC so if you're traveling in the heat of summer it could be an issue. A fan in the room would have been nice although we didn't think to ask for one before we went to bed. We ordered pizza for supper and it was fantastic. The sevice was excellent as well.

We searched for the best chowder in the area and Edge of the Avalon came up. The search was not wrong. They have great chowder. They also have great fish tacos and fish cakes. Our server was warm and friendly. A great place to eat.

My wife & I had the pleasure of staying 2 nights at the Edge of Avalon this week and it was absolutely fabulous! The staff were always welcoming & friendly, while the room was spacious with a super comfortable bed. We had dinner both nights in the restaurant and the meals were delicious with huge portions and very reasonably priced. I don't take many food photos, but I had to for a wonderful fried cod with fresh dill sauce.
It was an excellent location as well - Easy to get to great attractions like The Ferryland Lighthouse, Mistaken Point, or St. Vincent Beach!
If you are making a trip to the Irish Loop, I highly recommend staying here!

We went from St. John all the way down to Trepassey. The day was kind of the foggy and overcast. We noticed a few cars in front of the Inn and stopped for a beer. Inside the Irish or Newfoundland music was performed so we stayed longer and also grabbed something to eat. The food and local beer were very good. The music perfect for the weather and location.

My sisters and I visited Newfoundland for the first time. We stayed 3 nights in St. John's but wanted to see more of the countryside. We stayed 2 nights here at Edge of Avalon and it did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was great for every meal. We were a close driving distance to view whales at st. Vincent beach also. A great experience for us!

Yelp
This restaurant is cute and has many great options for food. The first time we came we got a poutine to go and I have to admit it wasn't very good. The poutine itself was one of the worst I've had. The paper at the bottom of my box had gotten stuck to my fries and the young server wasn't nice at all once she realized we didn't tip (because we took it to go).
BUT the second time we came and sat in: Our server was so friendly and more than accommodating. We tried the Cod Tongues which I didn't like but my boyfriend loved them. We got two pastas and the portions were decent, all served with fresh ingredients.

Yelp
We were really hoping this place would be open while we were driving the Irish loop in the off season. They were still open and we enjoyed an excellent dinner with an incredible view of the bay! Decent beer and wine selection and the food was came out quickly and was very good. Our waitress was extremely accommodating and very welcoming. If you're in the area this is a must stop spot. I recommend catching the sunset at Vincent Beach right down the road after your meal!

Yelp
Great view and decent coffee. 4 stars since little else is near Trepassey/open this time of year. They weren't fully open yet when I went, but the slice of strawberry rhubarb pie I had was good (if not fully warmed up, but I could've asked for it to be warmed up again, so that's on me).

Yelp
The food was...ok. The pea soup was served with CIBATTA bread !!! in NL !!!!
The service sucked. A couple of tables got up and left. The waitress didn't even bring them a menu and they got sick of waiting. The wait staff was too busy chatting it up with each other.
The view was nice. It was a lovely day for a trip around the loop. Can't imagine going back again. I'll pick another restaurant next year on my visit home.
