Edgewater Hotel - Lake Wanaka, New Zealand

Given an upgraded room On arrival which was nice. Room was good, had a kitchenette and washer/dryer which was so handy. One minor issue with the room. Could have been a bit more welcoming. Quite functional and plain but still a good room overall. Had a lake view which was nice. Found all the staff welcoming and helpful. Buffet Breakfast wasn’t the best though. Not very inviting and felt limited. Other than that I’d stay here again.

A long walk from reception to the room and not so pleasant during the rain showers. The room itself was fine although taming the air conditioning was not easy. The location is delightful. Breakfast was very good and a coffee during the day was enjoyable. I did not have dinner there.

I stayed here in August 2025 and it was great. The views from the grounds and the pathway along the lake to Wanaka are stunning. The room was large and clean with a balcony although the fridge froze everything. I chose this hotel because the ski bus to Cardrona stops here, and I believe it may be possible to connect to the Treble Cone bus as well. A ski room would be nice. Staff were very helpful and the restaurant food was excellent !

We stayed here at the Edgewater for a week in July.||The hotel itself was excellent. The location is ideal, situated directly on Lake Wānaka, within easy walking distance into town itself via a well maintained track that follows the lake shore, which takes about 20 minutes. ||The room was impeccably clean and reasonably well appointed with a small balcony from which we could enjoy views out across the lake to the snow-capped mountains behind. It was also incredibly spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had an over bath shower and large vanity. There is ample car parking around the hotel.||Although we did not eat dinner at the hotel, we did have breakfast there on two mornings. If booked the night before, the breakfast is very well priced for a full cooked buffet style fare. The food is well-cooked and of good quality.||Of particular note is the fact that all the staff we dealt with were incredibly friendly and helpful. If we are to visit Wānaka again we will undoubtedly choose to stay at the Edgewater.||Thank you for a wonderful and welcoming experience.

Amazing location and what a great hotel this could be if the rooms, food and more importantly the staff were better. Having stayed at several hotels in New Zealand the staff here were unhelpful and inconsiderate, mainly the receptionists ( restaurant were ok). Couldn't be bothered to tell us our room was ready and didn't offer any help taking our luggage to the rooms ( so had to make 2 trips). The rooms were cold, and old looking. Such a shame as the location and potential is wonderful.

Very generously sized rooms, could definitely be comfortable for a longer stay. Access to the lake and walking track were great and the cleanliness of the room - especially the shower was 5star! Overall very happy (except the bathroom door could be quieter especially in the middle of the night 😜)

Clean and spacious room with a fantastic lake view – loved waking up to it every morning. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout the stay. It’s about a 5-minute drive to the city centre, so a car helps, but overall a peaceful and comfortable place to stay.

I am truly very grateful to the owner for providing a room that exceeded our expectations, and both my friends and I really enjoyed it. As soon as I stepped inside, I saw the most beautiful scenery outside the balcony. The room is very spacious and clean and comfortable. This is the best check-in experience!
