This is also to send compliments to Jemima of Guest Services (Reception). Thank you for going the extra mile to search up your computer & providing suggestions to where to go for dinners, so approachable! - making this a very welcoming stay at Edgewater.
Room is great as it’s clean and tidy. Other staff i encountered were all quick to help too.

The pro :
Lovely lakefront hotel, 500 meters to the wanaka tree and a 30 minutes walk along the lake into the city. Our room came fully equipped with a kitchenette and washing machine and dryer. Lots to do on the hotel ground from tennis court, spa, sauna and other games.
The cons:
- the location would be quite inconvenient to get to the city if you do not have a car
- the room was very cold at night with just the central heating
- if you are a light sleeper, make sure to request for a ‘quiet’ room as the hotel layout is a two story wooden block. We were on the ground floor and it was extremely loud when the upstairs guest walk around. The ones above us was walking back and forth all night (until midnight) and early morning (from 6am). When discussing this with the front as we were checking out we were told to request for a quiet room in the future so they will place you on the second floor or an empty block. Seems like a known issue which was a little frustrating because when we went it was barely 20% capacity so they could have place the guests separately

I am truly very grateful to the owner for providing a room that exceeded our expectations, and both my friends and I really enjoyed it. As soon as I stepped inside, I saw the most beautiful scenery outside the balcony. The room is very spacious and clean and comfortable. This is the best check-in experience!

This is a beautiful property and the rooms are extremely clean and well designed. No idea on smaller rooms, but the suite is very sizable and the views and location are immaculate. The staff is well trained, kind, and personable. Probably the best property I stayed in throughout the north and South Island. Thanks team Edgewater!

We had our wedding in February and Edgewater has been so amazing for this entire experience. Manon was honestly an Angel, spending hours on the phone with me and hundreds of emails back and forth. She was always willing to send a photo, find out a detail or answer one of my millions of questions. We truly never felt like a bother to her. Her and her team were so lovely both leading up to the wedding and on the actual day and everything was exactly as we had envisioned it, thanks to them.
It was a perfect day, with a perfect back-drop and delicious food.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The hotel generously upgraded us for our honeymoon and the room was fabulous, bigger than our own apartment back home, and a lovely view of the duck pond with the lake behind it!
Lots of storage, comfortable bed and pillows, good quality toiletries provided, in room laundry, bathroom heater, window seat, and more, were all deluxe touches. The kitchen was well set up for preparing meals and the mini dishwasher was great.
The location was quiet and walkable to town if looking for a longer walk, or just a short drive if not. Also highly recommend the scones from the cafe!
A few minor downsides - parking could be a bit difficult, but we still managed to find parking on property even if it wasn't near our room. The coffee from the machines in the rooms was pretty bad. The hot tubs weren't very hot and that area could use some upkeep.
Would love to stay here again!

Not a great start, when we arrived we were told we had been upgraded, only to find a very strong and over powering odour in the room. We were told it was some sort of cleaning chemical. They said if we could open the doors and put the heat pump on for an hour and head out somewhere, the stench should go. We went for a drive, came back it was slightly better but there was no way anyone could have stayed there. So they moved us to the original room which had two single beds. They gave us a free drink while we waited for the bed to be changed. We thought we were paying a higher price for an upmarket hotel. But next time we visit Wanaka we won't be staying there. The only positive thing I could say is the staff were lovely.

Great location and hotel! Stay for a night, easy access to the town and as a base hotel to move around Wanaka. A short walk to the Wanaka tree. Room is clean and good, will stay there again for future trip. The front desk is friendly and had share some great place to visit and dine.
